I wanted to visit Board N Brew since they opened a year ago and I wish I came out sooner because this was my favourite board game cafe experience to date! The space is gorgeous with lots of natural lighting, comfortable seating, and smiling faces all around from the partners/staff and fellow patrons. There were so many games to choose from and we were recommended "Dead of Winter." Graeme, one of the partners and game masters, walked us through the game - it's a pretty complex game, but he explained it very well and made it playable + fun for us! My friends and I loved it so much that we picked it up from them afterwards. The range of snacks and drinks (they've got a liquor license!) were pretty impressive, and I settled for their Vietnamese iced coffee (must try) and Americano (they use Phil & Sebastian beans). The aroma of the food was wonderful, so I'll have to check that out next time since we just ate beforehand. I can't believe it's only $5 admission to play for as long as you want (compared to what I found the usual experience of a dollar amount per hour), so it makes snacking, eating, and drinks pretty reasonable and accessible. Overall, I can't recommend the place enough. There's something so simple and charming about hanging out with friends to play board games. You can really see the love and passion for board games from the partners and staff from the space and ambiance they created for all people to enjoy. I can't wait to come back again! Do yourself a favour and check it out. :D

YOU'VE GOT TO TRY THIS PLACE. Must admit, both my husband & I were quite skeptical about spending our evening here. Need to mention, my hubby doesn't enjoy playing games of any sort. I love games, though I don't have many opportunities to play. What a surprise it was to have a happy hubby who spent the evening totally engrossed with playing games. Several hour's passed quickly, filled with with laughter & jest, while playing numerous different games. We had a brilliant "Game Master" who made the whole experience fun. He chatted with us for a few minutes, then he proceeded to select a variety of games which he brought to our table. After describing each game to us, we made our choices and decided in which order we would play them. Then he'd clearly explained the rules for whichever game we played. Our GM was pleasant, attentive, knowledgeable & extremely helpful throughout the entire evening. There is local craft beer, limited selection of wines, coffee, tea, etc., available for drink. Plus several different tasty treats (many locally made) for nibbling on. All at a reasonable prices. The B&B Cafe has a modern, clean, comfortable, relaxing atmosphere . There are hundreds of games to try & if you like a game, you can probably purchase a brand new one for a competitive price. Definitely giving this place a two thumbs up recommendation. Would love to go back there again & again. It's a GREAT PLACE to go spend a few hours with family &/or friends.

I was really impressed with my experience there. We called ahead to see how busy it was and the friendly staff member on the phone took the initiative to make a reservation for us, and informed us of the deal they head on for the month. Once we arrived it took a while for us to be greeted, but once we were the service was great for the rest of the night. Their ordering system is innovative and efficient - you get a button at your table to press to order food or get assitance with a game - and facilitated continued game play really well. The ambience is great - it has a very bright, clean, contemporary style. The menu selection is very impressive, for both drinks and food. The staff are all very friendly and helpful - we picked a very heavy game to learn, and they checked in several times to see if we needed help with the rules. The music wasn't too loud, you didn't have to shout to be heard. They have a nice layout of the tables, so it doesn't feel cramped and you're not eavesdropping on other tables. Their game selection is modest, but they had the game we specifically wanted to try so this didn't pose an issue for us; however, they didn't have it in stock for us to purchase as their game store section is also modest. Because of the downtown location we had to pay for parking, but it's nearby and that wasn't really a big deal for us. Overall I was really blown away, and will definitely be back here again.

Great space!! Tonnes and tonnes of games ranging from 2 players and up. Something for everyone - whether you like strategy, trivia or traditional games - they've got it Fun atmosphere and generous food portions. Parking is limited, but worth the walk from nearby streets or impark. A little disappointed that I'd read elsewhere that the cost to game was $5/head - it has changed to $8 - but that is still very reasonable considering you can play to your heart's content Highly recommend

I reserved a room today at Board N Brew cafe with my friends and we had quite a pleasant and fun time. The food and drinks were decent for their prices and they had a big collection of fun board games to play in their library. There was one thing that disappointed us though and it was when one of my friends went to purchase a Red Bull from the front counter. He was greeted by Eithan, a staff member, and my friend was asked to put a name on his tab. Eithan had made multiple remarks about his ethnic name saying he didn’t believe it was his real name and poked fun at his legal name. It left a very sour taste in all of our mouths and was very unprofessional. His comments were overall very unwarranted, rude, and outright disrespectful. Throughout our visit it was one thing we couldn’t just forget about. We didn’t want to let it go but in the end we just didn’t want to make any sort of scene. I was happy with the service of everyone else however and overall it was an okay experience.

Me and my wife visited Board N Brew while on a visit to Edmonton, and it was one of our best board game cafe experiences. They have an insane game selection, the space is open but still feels cozy, and their beer selection is awesome. They have some good snacks like popcorn chicken and nachos, but the best was their candy bowl option. Two candies from a selection including gummy worms, frogs, peanut M&Ms and more. They also have regular D&D and other RPG groups, themed nights and lots more to enjoy, so if you’re a fan of games, good drinks or trying a new RPG, Board N Brew is the place to go!

First time I went to this cafe on a Sunday afternoon to meet friends and play some boardgames. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Explained everything and helped me through the game selection. They have a great variety of games, suitable for different audience. Since then, I've been here regularly and enjoyed the warm and welcoming atmosphere as well as the boardgame selection.

This place was absolutely amazing. The atmosphere was relaxing and staff were so friendly. I booked their larger private room for a group hangout. We were nicely secluded, had plenty of room, and also well taken care of, even with so many people to keep track of. The booking process online was also very easy and quick. I loved how they actively tried to help you select games and very patiently taught you to play any game you pick out. They really go the extra mile to aid you in really enjoying your time there. The tab system made it really easy to go with the flow and get things whenever you wanted. The food was amazing, I really enjoyed the spice in the samosas.

  • Urban Hermit

Bright and welcoming atmosphere (the great smell of the coffee when you walk in!) and the lone staff member was quite friendly and managed to easily take care of his customers. With a flat $7 gaming fee and a ton of well sorted games to chose from we spent a few enjoyable hours here sipping on the tasty drinks and laughing at ourselves as our games got simpler and simpler (SkipBo for the win!). I enjoyed the AlleyKat on tap and my partner had a tasty cocktail, the Barry Manilow I think it was. We found the food a bit lacking but it was hot and filling at least. Easy walk from transit or the 2 impark lots less than 1/2 a block away if you're driving.

  • Kenzie Pequin

This place is pretty cool. They have some decent prices for you and your friends to play literally thousands of games. They had so many, walls and walls color coded for level of difficulty. There were booths and tables to sit at, drinks, snacks, food, desserts and candy dishes. All of the games were in fairly good condition, as well as no missing pieces. It was a very quiet and enjoyable place to spend an evening.

Best place to unleash your inner gaming beast. And when I say gaming I meant old school. NO CONSOLE. NO TV. Just the good ol' dice, cards, board game pieces and actual real life people. Owners and staff are wonderful. Menu is addicting. #sourworms #chaitealatte Interior is cozy yet modern. Don't know any games? Worry not, the experts are there to help you. Too bad they can't join in. Maybe they should host an event so we can beat the game masters. And maaaaybe get like a free drink for prize? Lol. Anyway, favorite hangout and I would recommend this place to everyone no matter what age. Enjoy!

  • Vanessa Wedick

Such a fun place! Huge selection of games which are organized and rated by difficulty. Good selection of food and drink while playing games and only 8 dollar cover fee with no time restriction! Service was fast and attentive, constantly filling our water up. Parking - we chose the paid parking lot about 1 min walk from the place. Not really much street parking. Only other complaint is that the monopoly games we tried were missing some cards or were very old and falling apart

Tucked away just south of downtown in a stand alone building. Great selection of board and card games - I like that they are organized by difficulty level, as well as number of players. The cafe is spacious, with tables and booths large enough to accommodate larger games. Two private rooms are available for rent, fitting up to 14 people. A highlight is the gender neutral washrooms. The service could use a bit of improvement, in terms of checking in to see if customers would like more to drink. Our table waited approx 15 mins for another round. Would recommend to others.

One of my absolute favourite places in the city! Massive collection of awesome boardgames for any and all to enjoy. Great selection of hot and cold drinks with many sourced from Edmonton's own local breweries and roasters (unfortunately the food is just ok in my opinion!). The staff have always been extremely friendly and accommodating, recommending games to try and tending to a big party whenever a D&D game comes around! Highly recommended as a place to spend an fun afternoon or evening!

A wonderful place for hanging out, having some great drinks and playing a wide array of board games. The food was decent but very heavy, it would be nice to have one or two lighter options. My only big issue was how hard it was to get into the bathroom using my cane. I had a very difficult time opening the door with the key, opening the heavy door all while holding my cane. I ended up dropping stuff. Otherwise I loved my time there!

Wanted to come here for the first time cuz it seemed cool. Walked in, the girl with the bangs asked for how many, we told her 4 and she literally said “no sorry, we can’t accommodate cuz we’re understaffed” in the most monotone voice and turned around and walked away. Super rude and unprofessional. Didn’t even say sorry or offer a later time or anything. Literally said no and walked away. When we were walking out we turned back to ask if we could wait inside for our Uber and she yelled “BYE” and waved us out. Extremely rude, definitely would not come back.

Okay. This idea is amazing. And I do love board game cafes. However- for being called board and BREW, you'd think they would have coffee. They do not. They have Americano type lattes and no drop coffee at all. And not a very big selection, was a little disappointing. We didn't get food but the menu was also a little lacking. Also it is freezing in there! It was a very cool space and lots of board games but wish the environment/temperature/coffee was overall better.

Recently went to purchase a couple board games to add to my ever growing collection of table top games, and man it was just a great experience! The employees were so keen and excited when they found out that we were looking for game to buy and seems like they're level of knowledge are beyond this world! Not to mention, their prices for their games is very wallet friendly! I would gladly visit again and next time I'd hope to taste their food! 5/5 for experience

My favourite board game cafe in the city! The atmosphere is awesome with lots of board game paintings and art around the cafe. Of all the board game cafes I’ve been to, their game organization system is my favourite by far, arranged by type of game, number of players, and level of difficulty easily identifiable on every box. As someone who loves trying new games each time, it makes picking new ones so easy!

Hands down one of my favorite board game places. Parking might be an issue but that has nothing to do with this place's superb service. I love that it's only $5 flat rate for admission which takes the pressure off enjoying our games and thinking about time. I like that they serve filling meals other than your snack fares and that staff take the time to recommend a good game or help coach you on playing the game. Keep up the good work!

We've been mourning the loss of two great board game places near us, and then we found out about Board n Brew! We went and checked it out and it was awesome! Very nice inside, aesthetic interior, tons of awesome games to play. The food was decent, though a bit limited; I hope they add new menu items soon! It was awesome though, we will be back again soon! <3

Solid place to go with friends but kind of confusing using google maps to find the entrance. A sign that's more visible from the nearby parking lot would be very helpful for those of us who are directionally challenged. Great selection and very good difficulty/time rating system for games. Staff were friendly but not overbearing. They know you're here to relax and definitely facilitate that vibe. More food selection would be nice

A great concept business. Play board games drink Brew or coffee and have fun. Bring your own board game and rent a table for $7 a day or use their games huge selection for free. They also have new games for sale if you're interested. We had the food it was quite acceptable for the venue and the service was excellent. If you haven't tried playing a game at Board & Brew I suggest you take a party and give it a try it's a lot of fun

I absolutely love this little hidden gem! The board game collection is extensive and there's always something new and fun to try. The staff are friendly and attentive and super helpful, too. Cozy and budget friendly cafe with decent food. Although it would be better to have a staff member appointed just for recommending and explaining the games. Most of us are new to most of these games. Reading through the rules or understanding them from YT is not always preferable. Better to have a go-to person at the cafe for this.

Great atmosphere and really well designed interior. They have a great selection of games as well. I would say it's probably the nicest board game cafe in the city. It's nice that it is also a $5 flat rate. The staff are also really helpful and will teach you games if they know how to play them. The food is actually really good too! Had the samosas and the calzones. Delicious.

Awesome little board game cafe tucked away in a corner! Awesome friendly staff passionate about the games. Great selection and a variety of table sizes for big groups or small one on one matches. Food choices are simple but good and, let's face it, we're here for the games! Good place to purchase board games too, as they keep their prices very competitive.

  • Ashley Wright

What a cute little place! The staff were super friendly (really just great people) and a lot of choices for board games. The price was very reasonable for both food and drink, the portions of food were generous (pop corn chicken, chicken stripes and gummy candy). Supporting smaller businesses are really important, so will definitely be returning.

This place was awesome. I’ve lived just down the hill for 4 years and never been in. Took my boyfriend on a date and we ended playing for 6 hours! Food is average, but I suspect people aren’t coming here for a meal. The coffee and London fogs were great! We are definitely heading back this weekend.

Perfect board game Cafe. Coffee was great. Food is mediocre for sure but that'd not what we're there for.

Best board game cafe in the city. Flat rate with a huge selection, friendly staff and good beer. I do wish they would add a proper bike rack though.

Great vibes for everything from work to play. Comfortable space to play games among many friends or cuddle up in a booth to work.

Nice and cozy place. Aside from a lot of board games to choose from, they serve really good food here.
