A great visit to a museum that has a lot of variety and it's free! Parked on west steet car park and walked over about a 5-10 minute amble. Took us around 1hr 30 to visit the whole museum. Great exhibitions we particularly liked the natural history, animals etc. Some beautiful natural exhibitions on display and very well curated and put together rooms. Interactive bits to keep the kids entertained and a great variety of things to see. Toilets and a cafe on site and an ample seating area too. Gift shop is pricey as you'd expect but they stock a unique range and some independent stockists too which was nice to see. Overall a great visit.

The Bristol Museum & Art gallery is a wonderful place with plenty of things to see and do. Our family spent more than 3 hours there, and we still weren't able to properly view everything they had to offer! We found the West Asian exhibits in particular rather interesting, and the sea life exhibit was also lovely to look at. The porcelain and the artwork were so beautiful, it was just a shame we'd had other arrangements to rush to! You could easily get lost in all the wonderful things they have to display, especially in the higher floors. The architecture is generally quite beautiful too.

A fantastic museum to visit. I've been coming here for over 35 years, since I was little, and my parents the same before that. Firstly the building is stunning. Worth a visit just to see that. It's quite a older style museum with less of the more modern interactive exhibits you see elsewhere. But they do a fantastic job of rotating exhibits and getting in guest exhibits so it's rarely the same between each visit. Also has a nice cafe and fantastic play area for the children. Very much worth the visit.

Admission is free, and you can explore a wide variety of art, natural history, and historical exhibits within this beautiful museum building. It features a range of exhibitions, from Ancient Egypt to art spanning the 15th century to contemporary works, as well as displays on natural history, dinosaur fossils, and Earth minerals. To make the most of your visit, it's a good idea to set aside enough time. I had a great time during my visit!

Wonderful muesum to visit in Bristol. We had an excellent time and learning at the muesum. Each section needs minimal of 30 to 45 mins for detailed glance of the exhibits. This muesum have various sections as First one is about the Birds and animals live nearby Bristol and sea shore. EGYPT section have good collection of artifacts from the ancient Egypt. One mummy also on the display. Good place to take young minds to explore.

A lovely museum with a wide range of exhibits. Lots of local, natural history, art and artefacts. Most of the museum is free but there are sometimes charges for temporary exhibitions. There is a disabled lift to access the ground floor and then internal lifts to all floors. There is a cafe on the ground floor in the second of two, large internal courtyards. There are free to use toilets on the ground floor. A very nice place to take young children who love the Egyptian section and stuffed animals!

Very impressive! The museum is free and it offers a wide range of exhibitions in one place: Ancient Egypt, 15th century to contemporary art galleries, natural history and dinosaur fossils, earth minerals, and a beautiful embroidery piece that depicts major events in Bristol's history--it curiously reminded us of the Bayeux tapestry replica we saw in Reading. We enjoyed the visit very much and highly recommend it.

Nice place to be and spend time in, has got many nice and apealing paintings. For the most part the exhibition was not crowded, which made for good atmosphere within the building. The smaller exhibitions (right of the entrance in my case, something about egypt I believe) suffered because of little lighting and tight walkways, but do not have to be seen to be abled to enjoy the main exhibition.

A beautiful building in terms of architecture, full of amazing historical pieces as well as art. Particular stand outs are the Egyptian exhibition, dinosaur fossils & the beautiful art galleries upstairs. We decided to arrive early in the day and had the museum to ourselves for the entire duration (about 2 hours). Highly recommend visiting if you're in Bristol.

The best for free museum I have been to. Even one of my favourites if we did have to pay. There are many of interesting things to see. From dinosaurs to glass bottles and paintings. There is a large group of dead animals that is very cool and interesting to look at. So two thumbs up from me for this cool museum

A very large and interesting museum with an art gallery. My main goal was to visit the hall with Ancient Egypt and exhibitions with porcelain from China and Japan. I ended up walking around the entire museum and spent a great two hours there. A £5 donation is nothing compared to what you can see in this museum. A must visit

It is a must visit place if you are visiting Bristol. It has quite a few good activities for kids as well. I was impressed by the section on people with disabilities and its influences on art. It is a free entry but you will be pleased to donate after the nice visit.

An excellent cultural adventure through time & space. I loved the Egypt exhibits & the art work, both classical & modern - but I found the taxidermy a little much (hence 4 ⭐️ and not 5. I definable recommend you go check it out. After all, it's absolutely free!

I visited here last week, and was pleasantly surprised how much there is to see. I especially enjoyed the Natural History but there's lots of other interesting things here too. And it was nice to see the lovely Plateosaurus, one of my all time favourite dinosaurs ❤️

Was not really a fan of museums in the past but I've been here with my boyfriend as part of our trip to Bristol and all I can say is that it is worth visiting, it has amazing exhibitions and would definitely recommend. The shop has some nice souvenirs as well.

This museum was not at all what I was expecting. It was above and beyond. The exhibits were so interesting and had so many pieces. It's relatively easy to navigate, even without a map.

Visited May 6, 2019: The place itself is just wonderful architecture, and I loved how they've made the interior a dynamic space with the sculptures and statues.
