Be careful what they tell you over email and what they advertise before you walk in the door. If it sounds to good to be true, it is. I feel for the staff here who deal with customers angry about being blindsided by policies they didn’t write. I sent an email to Budget asking for the internal dimensions of the van I had booked to confirm if it could fit my mattress in it. I measured the internal dimensions of the van they gave me and it was much smaller than what they claimed in their email to me. By this time it was too late for me to look elsewhere as I was under time pressure to move and I had already signed a contract and handed over my credit card to Budget. In fairness to them, upon me showing them the email they sent me and then holding a tape measure up inside the van they agreed to upgrade me to a larger van for the smaller van’s price. Unfortunately, they did not have any of the larger vans available so I came back a few hours later and they had managed to find me one. The email had estimated a price of $248 but it ended up costing me $513. Their invoice says $497 but the amount they charged to my credit card was actually $513. Most of the fees were probably in the fine print on their website and legally I’m sure they’ve covered themselves but it still hurt to pay double what I was expecting. Some of the additional fees include: A $60 fee if you want to avoid the eye watering insurance excess which when you arrive to pick up your vehicle they warn you will be liable for even if you are not at fault in a collision. A fee for extra kilometres beyond 100km per day. A vehicle registration fee. (I had just assumed the vehicle registration was included in the usual fee) An “admin fee” A card transaction fee The fees seem small but boy do they add up.

I called reception who explained the extension process was quite straightforward. As I returned the car on the Sunday, having completed a 48 hour/2 day rental I was given an invoice significantly higher than the quoted price. At the time I assumed it was the $200 holding bond fee that was previously explained to me, so I left and waited for the recommended 10 days for the bond refund. Fast forward 3 weeks later and I had not yet received anything. I had a much closer look at the rental invoice and discovered that I was billed for a 4 day rental so I called the customer service help line who confirmed that I was billed for pickup 2 days earlier than I had actually booked for (apparently I had picked it up on Wednesday). I also called the Atarmon branch and spoke to the reception who asked for my booking reference and was told that the rental agreement would need to be looked at and I would be given a call back - nothing. I was not called back. I had to send my booking confirmation, booking reminder, booking online check-in to the customer service via email that clearly states the correct pick-up date. Days later I was finally given a credit with absolutely no clarification or notification - not even an apology for overcharging me. If I had not been proactive I would have been scammed for twice the rental cost as quoted. I will never be using Budget Car & Truck Rental ever again, nor will I be ever recommending this company to anyone looking to rent a vehicle.
I am absolutely outraged by the treatment I received from this van rental company. Not only did they attempt to scam me out of $2800 for a damage I had nothing to do with, but they also charged my credit card without my consent for two days of rental. The van itself was in terrible condition when I received it, with several dents and scratches that had not been noted on the rental agreement. I made sure to document all of these damages before driving the van off the lot, but apparently, this did not matter to the company. When I returned the van, they claimed that I had caused additional damage to the vehicle that was not present when I rented it. They refused to listen to my side of the story and insisted that I pay for the damages immediately. To make matters worse, they charged my credit card without my authorization for two extra days of rental. I had only agreed to rent the van for a specific period, and they had no right to extend the rental period without my consent. This kind of behavior is unacceptable and I would strongly advise anyone considering renting a van from this company to look elsewhere. They are clearly unscrupulous and will stop at nothing to scam their customers out of money. I am beyond furious with the way I was treated and would never do business with this company again.
DO NOT expect any level of service if you are considering renting a car from this place. Rather, be prepared to face a “smile-less” front desk staff handing over your vehicle. I also recommend not booking via a third party website, as the lady seemed very fed up with having to explain the different policy. I actually had to be told off by the lady for the third party company NOT providing my contact details to budget direct - like I have any control!? On a side note - make sure you pick up your vehicle within 2 hours of your nominated pick up time regardless of full prepayment of the rental, as they WONT hold the vehicle for you that you already paid for OR completely tell you off/ how generous they are to provide the vehicle past the pick up time. Their management regime for covid safety also appeared to be on a “budget”. The front desk staff lady was wearing the same disposable gloves throughout the entire process of handing over the vehicle. She touched the cards, drivers licence, computer, door handles and drove the car with the exact same gloves! I was so surprised such a large corporation like budget car rental did not have a proper training on the safety management. And make sure you bring your own air freshener, the car smells like armpit!
Absolutely appalling behavior from a business, I have never been treated more rudely in my life. Not only was the daily rate charged completely different from my original quote, I was not told about additional fees and surcharges, they charged my card without authorization and overcharged me an entire day. It took several hours of calling the location and their off-shore customer service number to get any kind of resolution. When I called to remedy the invoice, they said their "computer system" couldn't update the details on the invoice, and that they've taken an amount off the invoice at the bottom. They have provided me an invoice - yes a legal document - with completely incorrect details, and refuse to fix it despite this being their mistake. The man I spoke to over the phone tried to mansplain basic maths to me without asking, and then yelled at me over the phone when he spoke over the top of me. The manager was even less helpful, and was extremely patronizing and unhelpful. I will be keeping a close eye on my bank account to even see if this issue is resolved anytime soon, or if I will have to keep wasting my time trying to fix their mistake.
On the 07/April/18 - I rented a people mover from this place, arrived early, waited outside till opened and was told I could pick up the car and return it at similar time (no specific time). I wasn't made aware of the time and thought it would be ok if I return it around 9AM. Furthermore, I wasn’t made aware of hidden charges and penalties for bringing in the car so called 'late'. Thought it would be like a normal rental place where you just bring in the car as of the start of the day (i.e. around 9am) taking into account traffic jam and so forth and it would be ok. However, I was charged an extra $79 dollars for returning the car so called '1hr late'. The car cost $164 to rent (inclusive of insurance). The charge of an hr late was $34 (s/b 164/12hrs= $14) and the total cost was $79 as they include all ADMIN fees (SCAM). It is a bad business model set up to scam customers. Those so called representatives won't make you aware of the 'basic' costs as they want to hit you where possible. Be aware of all hidden (should made known to customer but not) charges in particular representatives from this branch 'Artarmon'.
AVOID, SCAMMERS...... We rented a truck on Sunday at 11am by 11.20 we had to call them as the truck lifter would not lift up and we were blocking about thirty units from going in or out. People were abusing us, had to get on flights, get their car out, see movies etc. They sent someone out who came three hours later. The truck was on the slightest angle and they now want us to pay $500 for the mechanic after we had to sit with a truck that was not working for three hours and ended up moving the stuff in the dark. The lifter was so bad, that it would fall down with the weight of one person on it. I would give them minus stars, I spoke to YVETTE the nasty manager who refused to give me her last name, she tried to blame us for the truck malfunctioning. Do yourself a favour and rent elsewhere. After the stress we went through they should have offered us a free rental not charged extra, they are inhumane.
We did gave a call to their roadside assistance to give us a help as their was a problem on the keys of the car. We were stuck at Byron Bay. We gave a call to this roadside assist guy and ask us about our rental number. Come on. Our files are inside the car. Eventhough I gave the car's rego number, he doesnt want to proceed! Where is the client friendly approach? Come on. Be a human. Sometimes listen to people who already needs help. Whoever is that guy from Budget who answered the phone around 5 pm, please be decent enough to help people. We dont have our records with us as it is inside car. Luckily, there is this one guy who helped us and settle the problem. But then again, their roadside assistance service is useless, horrible, not proactive, not client friendly. I would suggest to others to find other car rental service.
We rented a van for a group of adults to get to and from an event during the day, when returning they claimed someone vomited in the van, and that there was evidence of us trying to clean it up. However when questioned what their proof was they were unable to provide any, because no one had thrown up in the van. Then we asked to speak to management, who without even checking the van claimed that they could smell something as their only justification for charging us a cleaning fee. They then offered to let us get a cleaning quote but went ahead and charged us a $380 as a cleaning fee (more than the 1 day rental cost), before we could get a quote (less than a day). Incompetent staff, and more incompetent management. 100% please please please do not rent from these scammers.
We returned the vehicle with full tank of fuel on 26th of June 20 but still got charged for fuel so called up and requested for refund (lucky we kept the receipt). We were told the refund is processed and we should get the money back within 7-10 working days. We didn't get the refund after 3 weeks and contacted them again and spoke to the manager Yvette and she promised to follow up on the matter but she never gotten back to us so in the end I had to send them another email and lodging a formal complaint to get the refund, which I only received it after about 6 weeks with multiple phone calls and emails. Worst customer service ever and the manager didn't even apologize to us after all this.
They do not honor the prices that you get from websites like webjet. Went for pickup after booking it via webjet ANC then when I get the contract to sign it was more than agreed. The person even charged my card. When I ask for a refund they say, We have cancelled the contract, so when I moved out of pending transactions than call your back for refund. 1. first I get a car more expensive than budget advertised in webjet. They claim they don't honor the prices. 2 it's my job after they gave me the option to cancel contract to get my refund. 3. Why are you on that website. 4 you are happy to take leads from 3rd party websites but not prices. Can ACCC please investigate this branch.
They are scammers. We took a Van that they gave us broken and when we realized we couldn't return it because it was closed, the next day we went to change it since we had wasted the day and we couldn't make the move. They give us another van supposedly for free since the other one was not broken. and then they wanted to charge us for two days of van and $2800 of breakages that had been invented. They have no photos or proof of anything. They are real scammers. Please don’t rent with them. Other companies are lovely.
Tale of a customer service fail: Deep into the (not so) enchanted Artarmon forest, hides a lady Goblin. With no smile on her face (but a rather huge mole instead) she barks at customers as they come in and out. On your vehicle pick-up day, you might assume she is having a bad day. But on your drop-off day, you shall conclude every day is a bad day for her. Lady Goblin probably forgot that Hertz is around the corner, and Go-Get now have many utility vehicles available for a third of the price...
The most antiquated business processes I’ve experienced from any company. In the digital age, surely you should be able to hire a car with the use of digital payment method. Apparently not, I made the booking over the phone, turned up to pick up the car and was told that they needed my physical card, and could not let me hire it without having it. However there is no problem with using your digital license. It’s an absolute joke, completely inconvenienced me.
One of the rudest customer service people I've ever met... The Asian guy talks like he hates you and is about to kill you... His boss, the woman with a mole on her face, didn't say hello, didn't smile, looked past me like I was invisible... When I had to carry a few things into the rental car, neither of them offered a hand... DISGUSTING staff. If you hate people so much, go work with plants!!!
Cheap n nasty. Actually, just nasty. Especially one of the female managers there with blonde hair. I have rented many vehicles there over the years. The rest of the staff are generally nice. The vehicles - especially utes and vans, are poorly maintained with high mileage for the price. I only use this place if there are no hire vehicles available elsewhere.
The worst I've ever experienced. I booked a car for the weekend with a Friday pickup at 5:00pm. I arrived at exactly 5:00pm to find the place closed and locked up with what looked like the the last staff person already walking away. When I explained to him that I had a booking to pick a car up at 5:00pm, he told me we are closed and "Have a good Weekend"
Polite and professional staff. Good quality vehicles. However, bad service as I had to wait at least half hour to be attended. Only one staff to provide service for all the customers. Unacceptable. Not their fault though but the business owner should look for this. They give more attention to who is renting and not who is returning.
Great guys to deal with. Trucks are in great condition. Good prices concidering what you are getting. Need to sort the parking situation out though as logistically it's hard to leave your car there while you hire them. And hard to leave the truck there overnight. Very thankful for the overnight drop off system though.
I needed a car within few hours and was able to find one at the right cost. It was brilliantly prepared, immaculate inside/outside. The professional staff made it a truly pleasant experience - turning a stressful start of my day to an organised and productive time. Highly recommend team at Budget Artarmon.
One of the rudest customer service agents working in the Car rental industry. If you want horrible cx service, please go to this company. Wondering how they are still in business. They do.not honor any 3rd party prices. They will charge more. They use 3rd party booking sites to get cx and then screw them.
Beyond angry, and bitterly disappointed with Budget Trucks Artarmaon - I left sunglasses on dashboard in holder, called back 1hr later after drop off and told not there. I didn't make a mistake - the glasses were 100% there. You do maths. Will never use budget again !!!!!!!!
This place has now become a permanent car hire shop for me even though it is not near to my place. Fantastic service. Fast & easy - booking, collection and return. Lowest rates. New cars. The staff is extremely friendly staff. I would recommend them to all. 10/10.
Van ran ok, but had large holes in the floor (straight to the road). Quoted price never aligns with final charges. Hidden fees and additions. Very dodgy. Lady at reception is always in a mood. Surprised this place is still open. Mustn't be from repeat business.
I'm disappointed with the inconsistent service and vehicle type/quality I receive from budget artarmon. As a long standing customer of them I have noticed it deteriorate materially in the last 12 months. Lucky for me there's loads of other choices at Artarmon!
Budget Atarmon are the best in service for car rentals. The pick up was smooth and efficient. They are patient and explain every aspect in detail. There are nohidden surprises and the franchise owner genuinely cares for the customers. Highly recommended!

Fast and friendly service. Location was a bit out of the way, and the car - although functional - was getting a bit old (driving is loud as the road passes underneath, and power is weak at speeds 80kmph+)
Awesome service, so efficient. Booked over the phone, arrived half an hour later, processed in 5 mins, drove out. Car was clean and perfect for the job, cheap as chips and great people running the show.
last minute booking and received free upgrade twice which was nice. easy rental process and convenient. can be a little tricky finding parking though but Budget is my local go-to car rental provider

Not your typical car rental business trying to screw you over. They are understanding, and take the time to explain the pro's and con's of each 'add on' to the base rental rate.

When will the big name car/ truck hire companies be honest about their pricing? One price at the start and like some dark magic the price goes up 20-30% at the end.
Truck had gear box and engine issues. It was nice for the discount after i brang it up but it would of been nice if they check what they rent out first
