I understand having bad days; I do not understand and certainly don't appreciate poor service. I reserved - via a phone call - an SUV approximately 2 weeks in advance. I told the agent the earliest I could arrive would be 8:30 but it might be late morning. I was assured it would be no problem. The reminder email I received stated pick up was "all day". I arrived just short of 10:30, with 2 customers ahead of me - one just finishing and the other renting 2 trucks. The rep said "it will be a while". A few minutes later he took a moment to ask what I was renting; I responded an Escape. His response was we gave out the the only one at 9AM. I stated I need an SUV. He returned to helping the truck renter. Approximately 10:50 he advised "we only hold for 2 hours" - which obviously he hadn't done. He advised I was welcome to go to other Budget Rentals. Having just paid $30 for a cab I wasn't about to leave. He called 2 other locations, telling them I'd just this minute walked in & needed an SUV. I assume he thought I couldn't hear the responses since he told me none were available but one location didn't have any; another did but it was going to be over and hour. He tossed 2 sets of keys to me and see if those cars would work. I asked how I'd know what cars they were - he said press the alarm on the key fob. I've spent more than enough time & energy on this poor service but I assure you there was more. I return the car tomorrow afternoon. I am not looking forward to a return to that location. Very disappointed.

The rental process was seamless, easy in and out. Clerk was pleasant and professional. The size truck we reserved was not available so it was upgraded to a larger size. This is the only reason I have Budget 3 stars. The truck's cab was disgustingly filthy. I used every sanitize wipe we had... We had to stop and buy a spray cleaner/disinfectant to wipe it down before I was willing to ride in this thing for 3 days. The truck bed was dirty and ants everywhere. We had to sweep it out prior to loading. Budget needs to do a better job cleaning their moving trucks prior to renting. I will update after our long move on the actual ride. Update: the truck actually rode very nicely... The seats were comfortable and we could keep the cabin at decent temperatures... That's where the niceties end. It rained most of our 14 hour trip.. To make it worse the water continually came through the drivers side window making the driver wet on one side... The headlights did not work properly so we had to make sure we were driving with other traffic so that we could see the road needless to say the evening/night was terrifying. When these issues were brought up to Budget, they were difficult to find resolution and offered us $50 for compensation... We will never rent nor recommend renting from Budget

I made a reservation for a moving truck over the phone with someone.Told them I would pick it up at 8 AM. We got a late start and I showed up at 10 AM. They had given my vehicle away to someone.I said “don’t you guys even think to call somebody to make sure they’re still coming?” Thr owner and an employee would not even look me in the eye because they knew they should’ve called me. That left me in a real mess . I found it to be very unprofessional and lacking any kind of customer service. I own a couple retail shops myself and I would never have done this to someone. They didn’t care and no apology either. I went down street and UHAUL gave me a rental on the spot. Super nice and professional. Amazingly clean. Proficient staff. Win win after going through BUDGET. Never again. By the way if that is your policy I highly recommend that that is gone over with the customer over the phone each and every phone call when someone books a reservation over the phone . It is simple stupid, Business 101! It makes no sense to have someone show up and you give their vehicle away when no one was ever told them the policy. I run both of my businesses to please people that’s what it’s all about.

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Agent provided an eight year old truck with 145k miles. The 16 ft truck was thoroughly disgusting complete with used razor on passenger side (missing knob, broken vent, and so on). Asked about another same size truck but was given a song and dance. The agent would not switch me to a different truck. I was under time constraints and had a long way to go so I had to reluctantly and under protest accept the truck. The agent didn't care. Left rental property and before loading used a half container of wipes to clean the seats, steering wheel, and cup holder. Wish I'd taken a pic of cruddy pile of wipes. Floor was so disgusting I placed a large thick towel in between seats so there would be place for our bags. Wish I had time to cancel and explore other options. Truck obviously hadn't been cleaned in years. At time of rental the back still had foam and packing trash from previous rental. There was a hand truck in back (did not request) and agent said "I never saw it" like he was doing me a favor. I told him I didn't want it. No doubt if I did take it he would have charged me for it. Dont even think Rent a Wreck would've rented this to a customer.

I went to rent a car with my husband there. We were unable to rent the car, as my husband only had a debit card. So we warned that we would go home to get the credit card and when we returned there were no more cars available, even though we would be returning. One person returned the car and we can continue the lotion process. they delivered the dirty car to us. However, this is not our complaint. We were not warned that on Sunday the store closed at 1 PM and when we got there the boy who received us was the same one who did our check-in. we deliver the key with a little delay. Yes, we are wrong to deliver late and that is not my question. However, on Monday we tried to change the order from credit to debit and a very rude girl besides us charging one night and the delay charged us two nights and the delay. Unfortunately, people act in bad faith because we are foreigners. I'm sorry for a reputable company like this to make us go through such a negative experience. Let's avoid this rental company now. Sorry my english I asked for help in google translator.

I would give a 5 star if I could reach the front counter by phone, instead it rings to corporate. I understand you guys are busy on the 1st of the month though if corporate cannot answer the questions for you how the heck can we speak to the front desk without driving physically there. For me I live in Orange Park so it was a drive, praying the whole way there and arriving earlier to confirm our confirmation cause we know double booking does happen. Luckily when I arrived Tiffany and Pat took care of our needs, quickly and professionally. I was pleasantly surprised I drove 100 miles in the small box truck and it only took 10 bucks to fill back up to full. That's the big difference over the competition(uhaul) y'all keep better trucks, keep it that way and Ill always come back. So on this adventure move besides the front wheel alignment going nuts( jerking to the right) our trip was great. Cold AC, comfortable clean ride. We got in and got out, no problem. Thanks Budget, happy belated birthday Tiffany!

My work requires that I travel 60% of the time and 90% of that travel is via rental car in Florida. I used Budget when I was located in South Florida but recently relocated to work from Jacksonville. I was shocked when I rented my first car at this location. Not only the location was filthy but the car even worst. When I told the teammate at the location, he said he was sorry but "people return the cars that way." And there were no other cars available for exchange. My question is, "and Budget does not attempt to clean them?" I know you charge extra when people return the cars that way. You should attempt to hire a mobile cleaning service for these situations. Some people may not care about this, but I do. I travel for work and sometimes have to pick up other corporate executives. I would be embarrassed to pick up my boss in such a filthy vehicle. I will not be using this location or Budget for all my travel at all for the next 4 years while I am here in JAX.

Used Budget for years, will never use them again. I had to take a cross country trip to take care of my sick father. Got my car, smelled strongly of cigarettes. Went back in the office was given a pink slip for the smell and told they have no other cars. Started driving down the road, car showed an alert for one wheel being at half pressure. Turned around, told it was the weather. I said not for one tire, that's a problem I need a different car. Was told to take it to the airport to swap out. Got down the road, another light came on that the car needed an oil change. Took it back left the key in the dropbox. I come back after being gone a month and find they have charged me for the rental and insurance. Called them explained the situation was told they can't refund me that I need to call their corporate office. When I began to ask why I was charged in the first place...they hung up on me. Issuing chargeback on the card. Stay faaaar away from this company.

IF I COULD GIVE MY EXPERIENCE HERE A NO STAR I WOULD!!!! I have now been waiting in a Office Depot parking lot for almost SIX hours waiting for budget to switch my truck that broke down because of transmission issues!!!!!!! I told the lady I wanted to trade my truck out when I picked it up because it was driving funny and she claimed it was because I was driving 60 mph (they say you’re not supposed to go over 55) ... the only time I’m getting an update is when I call in and wait 45 minutes to an hour EACH TIME I HAVE HAD TO CALL in my first SIX HOUR WAIT!! Again I am currently waiting and getting ATTITUDES from their 3rd party road side assistance department! I will NEVER use a budget truck for my long distant move again!!!!!!!!!! I had a 5-1/2 hour drive I would have already made it to my destination and been unloading by now but I am STILL waiting with NO solution !!!!

I originally booked it for Saturday 7:00am and drop off for Monday 9:00am. Because I couldn't confirm the time I would be able to drop off the car. They close at 6pm which is the same time I get off work. So Monday 7am-9am would have been a whole extra day. The rep told me that they opened doors at 7am and I could drop the car off at 7am on Monday and he only charged me for 2 days Saturday & Sunday. I was also running a few minutes late due to traffic with the rain here and showed up at like 5 mins after and he was understanding and asked me about my trip to Savannah and the birthday party I was attending because he remembered from our conversation when I picked up the car. Very Friendly, and unlimited miles on the car and I didn't have to drive all the way to the airport to rent it. Would rent from again in a heartbeat!!

BEWARE OF PAT!!! I rented a truck to go out of town and got stuck 300miles away from home, I called Pat to tell him and he said to call the 1800 number for customer service. Well after a 7 hour wait and several calls promising to be there, I called Pat to see if he could do something and his response"My hands are tied keep up with customer service. I explained to him all the problems I was having and instead of making a call for me to speed this up he only said to call customer service. I was stuck there for 2days and lost several hundreds of dollars due to lost appointments and jobs I was responsible for doing. Please understand that you get what you pay for when it comes to this business. You pay low prices and you get low quality trucks and customer service that makes me question how they stay in business.

I informed Mr. Badr Hamzi about an issue with the trailer tire prior to our departure and requested a replacement. However, despite my concern, Mr. Hamzi claimed that the tire was in good condition since he personally inspects them. Unfortunately, a few hours into our trip, the tire blew out. Mr. Hamzi was unreachable but sent a text message alleging that it was due to running over something. It is evident that the tire was old. As a result, I have been waiting for roadside assistance for two hours and have been informed that the tire cannot be repaired until the following day. This has left me stranded in Mississippi. Additionally, I am curious as to why Mr. Hamzi has blocked our phone number.

This is our 2nd time for renting from this location. The first time was semi-seamless but they didn't have the size truck I reserved. While I was waiting in line, the man in front of me was told they didn't have their truck reserved as well. Needless to say, he was NOT happy. I ended up with a cargo van which took 3 trips and more gas. The 2nd time?! I reserved a 16' truck 5 days ahead of time and they tell me at time of pick up there is no truck available. The woman also noted that they tried to call the day prior. The day prior? And I didn't get a voicemail...not much notice Budget. So for that reason, I will start renting through Home Depot. Sorry, you just lost this customer for life.

Extremely bad experience with this Budget center. When I returned the rental by the deadline, I was informed that I just had to hand over the keys and everything is done. Next day I'm charged for 2 days of rental even though I took the rental only for 1 day and returned it on time. On checking with customer service, apparently this center had jotted my return time as some 4 hours after I had actually returned it. I was charged for 2 days because of the mistake / lethargy of this center. Because I was never provided a return receipt, the customer service can't help me either. Never going back to this center!

We booked (and paid for) a minivan almost two weeks in advance, only to arrive the morning of our reservation and be told that there were no vans, SUVs, nothing available. We received no phone call and only minimal customer service. When we asked why we didn't receive a phone call, the manager just complained that he wasn't given enough people, and he was "swamped." Four people took the day off work and paid for a rental to sit in a parking lot for an hour looking for a rental. Advantage came through for us. Budget did not. Will not be renting from Budget again.

In this covid period of few rental cars and staff, the agent was fantastic. I wish I got his name as he juggled many balls at once. He checked in cars efficiently and drew up contracts quickly. This guy deserves a raise as he is pleasant, efficient and doing a great job to accommodate everyone. Budget needs to recognize this guy. Our rental car which was rented through Costco was as described and we had no issues with this Budget rental location. We will definitely rent from them again.

Arrived to collect our truck only to be told someone allegedly called and left us a voicemail saying “they didn’t have any trucks,” which was a complete lie. The woman even said the man who supposedly made these phone calls had a habit of saying he’s made calls when he hasn’t. And yet somehow he was still employed there? Terrible customer service. Shoutout to UHAUL, which is right down the road from this place, for saving the day. We’ll never even think about Budget next time

The gentleman working today absolutely killed it. The poor guy had a line as soon as he opened, the phone started ringing and he was all by himself. He was multi tasking, dealing with a difficult customer on the phone and doing his best to get everyone taken care of asap. He noticed I was holding keys and asked if I was just there to drop off, eliminating my need to wait in line. Thanks for the great customer service this morning!

I'm annoyed that I have to give this business a star at all to write this review. This business is a solid example of poor business practice(s). I left without my vehicle. I would like to bill this business for my $40 round trip lyft transportation for the purposes of acquiring a moving vehicle, which I ended up not doing, because of its poor reliability and poor accountability. Tons of excuses for not valuing customers.

The worst experience ever. Called Budget a few days before renting a vehicle was told one thing, went over to rent my vehicle was told something totally different. Beware of Rachel..very untrained, this woman doesn't have a clue. This Budget should be shut down. I've renting with Enterprise for years, but decided to try Budget. The worst customer service experience. Would never rent from them again. Back to Enterprise.

Life tried to hit me in the face with lemons, but Joe turned it into lemonade! Some scumbag cut up our SUV to take the catalytic converter and we were left without a vehicle while repairs were made. I was angry at the world coming into Budget. Luckily Joe quickly turned my frown upside down and I drove off in a super fun Jeep at a very reasonable price. It made the entire situation so much better. Kindness matters. :)

I'm a military reservist stationed locally and my family and I needed to extend a car we had so that I could make muster. The lady at the desk kept arguing with my family member about taking the car away from us because another location was kind enough to give us a single upgrade that would fit our family members and luggage. Amy refused us and caused us problems but another location nearby helped.

Fast and friendly - When a different Budget location was unable to assist, this location was contacted and took care of my rental needs. I appreciated that they apologized for the lack of customer service from the other location. Credit to the Customer Service line as well for assisting in finding this location and offering a small discount for the inconvenience.

I was attempting to call them to let them know one of the big trucks for rent was open in the back, and I was put on hold for over 8 minutes, then asked for an extension, and when I coudn't provide the automated voice with one, was told to leave a message, even though the mailbox was full. The Location we went to to get our rental was absolutely kind and understanding however the company it’s self had no cars available for a reservation I made over a month ago and confirmed a week ago. If overbooking is how you run a business and put people out then you are running the business completely into the ground.

Horrible Service! I reserved a truck on-line the night before and received a confirmation number. I was there before they opened and had to wait for over 30 minutes before being told the there were no trucks available. Regardless of my confirmation number and their lot was full of trucks. The associates that work there have ZERO customer service skills!

I understand company policy, but I requested to drop off a rental car here and asked for a ride literally 1.3 miles away on the same highway. In addition to a rude demeanor, the employee's response was that you'll have to catch an Uber with no explanation as to why a lift for a single human with no luggage was not possible.

We just rented a car from there, the truck they gave us smelled like weed and cigarettes there was pieces of bacon in the car. We were on our way to a family vacation with our 2 year old. Unfortunately it was a last minute rental and this was our only option. I would not recommend.

Worst experience. Rented a truck on their website confirmed for 1230pm. Walked in at 1215pm. We have two trucks and three customers before you. No offer to help. No sorry. They basically said our website is a bad experience. The whole thing is a bad experience.

When a confirmed reservation at another car rental place failed to produce a vehicle because the airport had run our of cards, we called Avis on Philips Hgwy in Jacksonville. They came through for us and gave us a luxury, clean vehicke. Service was phenomenal.

Horrible service experience. Reserved a moving truck from this budget but all the trucks were broken down. I recommend U-Haul for moving needs. They actually give you $50 if a truck isn't available. These guys just say, "better luck next time."
