Booked a car for 10 days (July 2017) via the corporate website, and did so over a week in advance. Despite what Budget Corporate office claims, these guys do not offer an airport shuttle to YHM. I found that out only after we had landed, and finally managed to get the local branch to answer their phone a full 20 minutes after they were supposed to have been opened / the start of my reservation period (8am). The local branch did not apologize for the confusion or help me pay for a hugely overpriced taxi. Upon arrival at their branch there was no one manning the front desk and I had to go into the garage to get someone to assist me. Then I was told my car was not ready and I had to wait another 20 minutes. Once it was ready it was suggested that I sign the pre-inspection report without even seeing the car first, and they seemed upset that I refused to do so. Needless to say my inspection was quite meticulous and a took many photos. Less than a minute after taking the car off the lot it started giving me a low tire pressure warning, which I took photos/videos of and after which I immediately returned it to the lot. Of course they did not have an air compressor to top it back up, and they suggested I go find someplace myself. Eventually, after having to refill the tire multiple times per day I discovered there was a screw in the tread of the tire. Upon informing them (the local branch) of this they did not accept any responsibility for this, just told me to keep topping it up and they even suggested they would be holding me responsible for the repair. This led to a argument upon the return of the car and I had to provide a time-stamped video records of the initial and subsequent low air pressure warnings before they backed down. Would give 1 star review if not for the low price.
If I could leave 0 stars, I would! Suhail was rude and unprofessional, to say the least! I needed to rent a truck/cube van to move around some deck lumber. Was told a rate over the phone only to drive 50 mins (each way) to find out it was a completely different rate ($53.99 more) and that insurance was "mandatory". They were even charging me a full day and wouldn't letting me rent it for a full day (apparently they were double booking the truck and needed it mid day the day after for another rental) and wouldn't discount or change the rate accordingly I mentioned to the employees that the company I worked for had a corporate account and that I recieve a completely different rate in which they replied that my corporate account/discount was not applicable to trucks...However, they were "kind enough" to give me a "$20 discount" only to add an OPTIONAL $0 deductible, WITHOUT EVENING MENTIONING THAT IT WAS OPTIONAL AND AN ADDED $18.99 CHARGE, thus neutralizing the so called discount and in turn raising the rental rate instead. Pathetic On top of all of this, the truck was DISGUSTING, stick residue all over the interior as if something was spilled and dirt all over the cabin floor Lastly..as I was returning the truck, the next day, which I drove for just over 100km, the fuel gauge barely move from the 6/8 tank to in between 5/8 - 6/8, after filling $30 in gas, the gauge didn't even budge and they threatened to add fuel surchage... Extremely shady and you should AVOID this location at all costs. DO NOT RENT FROM HERE
Worst customer service I’ve ever received! I have rented many cars from many different companies including Budget. This was the worst experience ever! After picking up the car the “low tire pressure” indicator came on. We added air and monitored the pressure. We noticed that it was still losing air so called The 1-800 #. They advised us to take the car back and they would switch it out for us. We went back to the Budget/Avis in Mt Hope, Ontario and one of the employees was working on getting us a replacement when the branch manager, “Lake Dhori” walked in. He immediately started saying that we were responsible for a new tire for the car. We told him that it had been losing air since we picked it up and we just wanted a safe car to drive. He was extremely rude and would not let me speak without interrupting. I ended up taking the car to Canadian tire where they found a nail in the tire and fixed it. I paid for the fix and returned the car right away even though it was prepaid for 2 more days. (Took a video of inside and out upon return) What a waste of my time and money. I would not trust this man as far as I could throw him. Rude, condescending and untrustworthy! DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION!
Straight to the point save your time and money and overall well being. Horrible customer service.English is horrible don’t speak to you appropriately when asking legitimate questions shrug you off like your time isn’t important.Standing there and they are talking amongst themselves laughing and not attending to customers.I booked over the phone for one car came in and he tried to give me a completely different car. I asked why over the phone I was told certain amount and when I came in got another rate and different car.Completely didn’t care when your customers pay your bills just overall disgusted with this budget STAY FAR AWAY you’ll thank me later. I’d rather be treated with respect and not like I’m some kid renting a car I look young but 38 years old. Can do without the smug look on his face. I can promise if he wasn’t behind a desk he wouldn’t speak to me or anyone like that for that matter.very dismissive for such a little man lol!Suhail is his name won’t forget the disrespect thankfully dodged a bullet. They are also known for adding additional charges and long wait times for rentals that you pre booked.

Location closes at 6pm, I was told the employees don’t want to stay after 6pm, the last car rental is for 6pm. I asked the representative, if I should come for 5:30 to get the process started, he told me to put in 5:30 (online booking) which would add an extra $60 to the rental, I was trying to be kind and say I would come earlier so that he didn’t have to stay late, he said he couldn’t guarantee the price, which obviously forces me to come for 6pm? I’m confused…makes zero sense! Business lost! Do better!
I’m currently sitting in the waiting area after having been told I’d have to wait 45 mins for them to clean the car because I just made the reservation. I booked it over an hour ago and when I arrived the man at the desk was on his phone instead of prepping the car that was booked. He was EXTREMELY rude and unapologetic, treating me as if my presence was a nuisance. Terrible, terrible customer service. It’s a shame enterprise has no available cars, otherwise I would have cancelled and gone there. You’ve lost a regular customer.
I had a great reservation, my vehicle was ready and clean... The fellow I dealt with was courteous and polite. I initially booked and paid for my reservation online before picking up, although you don't have to.... I also extended my booking online while I had the vehicle and that was a very smooth process. There is also a $500 deposit required when picking up your car regardless if you've paid for the rental or not, that was not a problem. I will definitely book from them again.
I reserved a specific vehicle to attend my grandfather's funeral 5 days in advance. Upon arriving at budget I was informed they not only did not have the car they didn't have anything comparable. I was forced to rent a 4 cylinder jeep as I was stuck in the middle of nowhere. Hold them accountable!!!! If they can't honnor their agreement move along. Make them pay for their lazy or even dishonest business practices. Will not be returning and would not recommend.
Web site said they had what I wanted, when I got there I was informed that it wasn't there and I would have to wait 3 hours, when I told the gentleman there that I paid a premium to have the car at 9 a.m. he asked me if I understood what he was telling me that I wouldn't get the car for 3 hours, I called Budgets corporate and the nice people on Main St. had it and gave me a discount, I will never rent from Budget on upper James ever again
We rented a vehicle on line from this location today. There was a mix up with our confirmation and no vehicle was ready for us when we arrived. We want to thank Ish for working very quickly to prepare a very nice Nissan, Mitsubishi for us. We love it! Thank you again Ish for going above and beyond with your service. Let our vacation begin! Good service and easy process of getting car on rent. In case for newcomers to Canada, they need to carry 2 photo identity proofs out of which one can be home country license. Other can be passport. If driving licence is not of Canada, then visitor's country license will work within 3 months of stay in Canada
This was the worst service I have ever had anywhere...Guy would works there is so unprofessional. Accused me of smoking in car when I don't even smoke. I took car back cleaner than what I got it. Please if you need to use Budget, try another place. If I could give ZERO stars, I would.
Ask them twice on the phone because you end up going there and you can't take the car because of some "company policies". Wasted 50 bucks because the guy failed to tell the 2 sentences he supposed to learn. Smart. Thanks guys. Will offer you for everyone for sure
they do not care how they will behave and speak to you because you came to them 5 km away on foot in the rain and to them without any difference what you say when the deposit is $750 and it is written on the Internet that it is $150
Very professional service. Car was clean and super comfy! Attendant gave excellent advice regarding travelling toll hyway or not given our destination and time of day. Even brought my suitcase to the trunk! Great experience!

Worst service ever. Avoid this place and use Enterprise at the airport. Not worth the $17 you save to deal here. Wish I had read the reviews and saved myself the trouble.
Bad experience from this location. Charged me an additional $1200 for a rental. Threatened to take me to court if I didn't pay. Will never rent from this location again.
The manager here is fantastic .. had tons of patience..really helped us out . Fast service .. a little pricy ..GET THE INSURANCE ... over all a great office to work with
This goes for AVIS too. But I've always went to them first when renting a car. Plus the one on upper James in Hamilton has great customer service.
