I am a former scholar(student) parent of this school. My cousins also attended this school years ago so I am very familiar of this school. I have participated with this school since my cousins were there and they are now in college. My son left at the very began of his 6th grade year and he is now in the 8th grade at U of C Woodlawn. Before there was a big change (the company that was funding them left), the school was on track focus. When Edison(the company funding them) left the school academics their everything just went down dramatically and that happen when my son entered into the 5th so I as a parent tried to give them another year which would be the 6gr year and I just couldn't allowed my son to stay there because the school was just not the same at all. I learned they were on academic probation and was threaten to be closed down. To say I still here the school isn't doing all that well. For me to say I am glad that I chose to transfer my son to another school. I did love Loomis and Longwood before the huge change (great school), but now they aren't doing so well. My son had good grades while attending this school. I hope this helps...
I asked that whatever parent is reading this please please do not put your child/childeren in this school. 7 years ago maybe would have been a good idea, but as of now no. The school is very unorganized, the teachers and staff are very uneducated, you will regret putting you child /children in this school they have nothing to offer. My children went from high honored students to down hill. For example: teachers are walking out during class and your child/children would have a substitute for almost the rest of the school year, teachers say they are only there for the money, there are many more reasons i highly recommend you not to register your child/children into school.
Some of the teachers there were cool. There were some teachers there who seemed like they cared about the students. There were students there that made getting an education difficult. They administration seemed to care more about enforcing rules and meeting grading quotas than they did about actually educating the students. The students didn't make it any better though. I will say they did have some pretty good programs that can help students in the long run.
The school had accidentally added my phone number as a parent's phone number, so I was getting notifications, a lot. When I called the woman that answered the phone was very polite and kind. She apologized for the mix-up and said she'd take care of it right away...and she did.Good schools start with good staff!
This is my alma mater class of 2011 I have so many memories of this school great teachers good classes wonderful programs and staff who care about the students highly recommend this school for high school students I enjoyed my high school years at this school
I want to say my son Lavonte cooper attends this school and i love it so Much. The staff is so beautiful and he comes home and tells me about the good things that are Happening. He wanted to attend Longwood ever since he was in 5th Grade.
I recommend that no body goes to this school because it's a lot of gang activities, the bullying is worst over there, and the staff do not have disciplinary actions in that school; the basically let it happened
Not the best fish in the water or the most education but your children of all ages will enjoy
My daughter goes to Longwood, I enjoy watching her grow and learn in such a wonderful school.
It's a great school and they actually teach kids and I go to Longwood
