Been to this place a few times, thought I'd stop by on a very rainy, foggy day around 3pm. I see some people inside, the chalkboard specials at the front, someone behind the counter. I walk in and counter guy goes "Are you all right?!?", ".. err yeah?", "Didnt you see the sign, we're obviously closed!!" Guess I missed the sign in the rain, and the 2 people inside were owners or something. I should have obviously realised that from outside as well. They just sat their. Bizarre experience tbh. A simple "hey bud, we're closed" would've sufficed instead of the condescending attitude. That dude has less charm and emotional intelligence than an Kogan coffee machine. Potential money saving opportunity for a staff upgrade there. Now I wouldn't go again, there's better places around anyway.

Had the pleasure of enjoying a quick meal in the city today. Friendly owners, food was quick to come out and was delicious. Was really easy to find a park out front and with the weather being clear, we sat outside under the big tree and enjoyed the vibe of the street. Learnt that the business changed hands about 8 weeks ago and the new owners have made big changes (name, menu, coffee). Whatever they have done, these changes work for me - a great experience!

These guys are very aware of dietary requirements and can cater to any and every requirement. I've not found another cafe that's able to do that.

A great little eat in or takeaway CBD cafe that always has time for their customers. The staff are amazing and always go out of their way to be helpful and friendly at all times, especially when they are busy. Cafe 228 offers a great selection of amazing tasting coffees with a variety of milks including soy, oat and almond. The food is packed with flavour and Cafe 228 have a great variety on their menu to cater for all tastebuds. If you are looking for a cafe to cater a staff meeting or office function, i highly recommended Cafe 228 with the great convenience of pick up or drop off and the selection of food is incredible and value for money. Their food is always a hit in our staff meetings.

I'm popping in for just a moment before an appointment next door and OH MY LORD. It's not often you find places that hit the trifecta of excellent food, excellent service and excellent coffee but this little Cafe absolutely nails the lot. Phenomenal, friendly service as soon as I entered the site, an absolutely delicious bacon and egg sandwich and Aero macaron and the coffee is absolutely delicious. I'm sad I don't work in this part of town so I can't be back as soon as I would like! Thank you for a beautiful experience <3

Love the staff here. Coffee & hot chocolate great (all alternative milks available) The macarons are out of this world good! Good salads, breakfasts and lunches also. Outdoor seating available and inside is cozy. A must!

Cafe 228 - Wow wow what a find. Wondered into this cafe by chance as walking around Adelaide. Great little venue with staff who are always smiling and ready for banter. 1:30pm - Brunch - EGG BACON Toasted sandwich with tomato sauce & Latte. Egg cooked perfectly, not runny, just glistening yoke Bacon cooked to perfection: some just the right crunchiness others with the right chewy bacon flavour. Coffee Large - Perfect balance of coffee & sweetness. Just a great all over experience. A cracker of a place.

The coffee and food is fantastic. Service is also A+. Would recommend stopping by for anyone heading through grote street from West Terrace.

Called into this cafe this morning to do a courier delivery. Straight away I knew I liked the beautiful food cakes and everything else there. So I bought lunch and it was exactly what I expected with the double cut roll. It was all too easy for them. Cake freezing cold soft drink also. Beautiful people serving me. A bit of a chat and back to work yuk yuk. Very very clean cafe. See soon.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING, I am still sitting here and I couldnt wait to review! I had the lunch veggie burger, added avocado and a hashbrown and it was the most delicious thing I've had! Having been for dinner the evening before where the service was appalling. It was very pleasant to walk into Cafe228 and be greeted with a friendly hello and smile. The quality service continued from there. The food, plenty of vegan options which is why we went, very good quality and quantity. This was our first visit but won’t be our last.

Great staff and great team, they are always welcoming and super friendly each time I visit. The food is great and they have a large range that suits all dietary requirements. Strongly recommend going as is it the best cafe around the area and by far offers the best coffee.

Cafe 228 is my favourite place to go for morning coffee and lunches. They have a great selection of food (with veg/vegan/GF options) and everything is made fresh. The place has a great vibe and the staff are always friendly... probably because it's a local family-owned business run by honest, genuine folks! Highly recommend.

Have been getting coffee and food from Sam and Jamie for years and have never been disappointed, they go above and beyond to provide a great service and always happy to chat! The coffee is delicious and the bacon and egg sandwich is one of the best in Adelaide! I always try and pop in when I get a chance!

Haven’t been in here for a while and realised it’s now changed owners (and name). The new look is really vibrant and welcoming. The dining area looks clean and uncluttered and the food was really tasty and a good feed, plus the coffee is much better. Great job on the change, will definitely be back.

I honestly think I haven't had a single bad meal, coffee or drink from Cafe 228! The staff are absolutely wonderful and very accommodating. I would highly recommend headding there for breakfast, brunch or lunch if you're in or around the city.

This is my go to cafe whenever I am in the city. The coffee is great and they offer a great selection of tasty foods including their sweets. The staff are always smiling and friendly. Always leave this place with a full belly and a smile.

Had a lovely brunch with my husband at cafe 228 to celebrate our first anniversary. We had the chk burger w chips and the vego breaky, they were so delicious! The service was great, highly recommended, definitely will come back again!

I forgot to ask for no butter on my classic breakfast sandwich, but that's on me. I just ate the filling apart from the bread when I realised there was butter on it. Staff were accommodating and gave me cutlery when I asked.
