I’m not excited to admit that I’ve been down in spirits and luck enough lately that many of my bills have been too much to handle, my electricity bill being one of them. Realizing one night that my power was cut, I also realized that I needed to find a place to charge my almost-dead phone so I could have an alarm to get me to work on time the next day. So I went to the first place I thought of that I could walk to and that would be open late - Cafe Brazil. I’ve enjoyed it a number of times before, and I appreciate their variety of vegan options to accommodate my lifestyle and the chill environment. Going in there to just use a power outlet and being too broke to buy anything, I was nervous about requesting a chair - but the guy I ran into first, Tracy, was quick to say no worries and let me grab a spot. I’ve been coming here every night for about a week after that now and no one’s ever been unkind, and they’ve always grabbed me some much-needed water to keep me hydrated in this July heat in Texas. This particular night, and the reason I wanted to write this review, Tracy brought me out a pancake! I was thrilled, as I was just lamenting to myself earlier that I had only eaten a couple slices of watermelon today. I hadn’t been able to sleep last night and I was afraid that today’s hunger was going to make it hard to sleep tonight as well. But Tracy took that problem away. I had to let him know, however, that I couldn’t eat it, as it wasn’t vegan. He kindly took the pancake back and cooked up some tacos which he just made the recipe up for off the cuff. He asked me to let him know how they were and they were excellent!! I took a picture of two-and-a-half out of the three because I was so eager to chow down that I forgot to get the pic before I started enjoying the first one. But it was super tasty, filling and an absolute blessing! I used to be an atheist but nowadays I tend to think there is a God out there who cares about us and works through us sometimes to take care of us when we need it most. Tracy must be a hard worker because I’ve seen him up here every day for about a week straight, and obviously he has a heart of gold. I will be sure and bring some money up here for him to be paid for it once I’ve got my bank account back up. Having such good work ethic and such a caring spirit, I hope he has a pay raise or promotion soon, and I hope he is fortunate in all he does going forward - I really believe he deserves it! Thanks Tracy!!

Check this place out!! We were visiting in Dallas and decided to try this place out. We went and were honestly happy with our visit. The only complaint we had was the service. Once seated, it took awhile to get help after we received drinks. I don't blame our waitress because she hustled the entire time. For awhile it seemed she was the only waitress working. Once she told the others to check their tables she was able to cover her sections but still checked on others. I was so impressed with her hustle I tipped her $20 on a $35 check. She was acknowledged us when we entered and sat us right away and the the food was exceptional. For those who love coffee, they even offer a bottomless coffee bar with so many options available. For food we ordered the chicken and waffles (tapatio style which was their spicy one) and the big country breakfast. Both plates were amazing and we were fully happy with the food. It was hot, fresh and flavorful. The syrup was hot and the amount of food was filling. The atmosphere was relaxing and just homey. I recommend this place 100X over.

I just ordered probably the worst breakfast with horrible service from this restaurant! I had to order by Door Dash bc they wouldn't answer their phone to place a pick up order. Door Dash had to contact them to confirm the order. I arrived and they still hadn't started my order after over an hour wait. The server gave me an attitude like it was my fault! Got home and my pancakes are burnt, fried egg is burnt, bacon is so old it is spoiled & rotten, missing an egg, and french toast was only cooked on one side! THE BACON IS LITERALLY SPOILED! How are you gonna serve bacon like that? The food here is usually really good so I don't know what YOUR problem is, but if you don't like Door dash, remove your place from their app, DONT TAKE IT OUT ON YOUR CUSTOMERS! well former customer now. Also, I ordered a latte while I had to wait for them to make my order. After they messed up, they didn't even bother to give me a discount on the latte. AVOID THIS Place unless you want to end up with food poisoning. Are y'all idiots or what?
Our waitor Kerman was great. He made suggestions and was friendly. He helped us select options that worked out well for our appetite. We definitely will be back. Thanks for the suggestion on the frozen hot chocolate. It was a treat and brought back memories of my childhood! Food was excellent. Egg rolls are a hit. They were tasty, fresh, hot, and wet! Chicken and waffles are a must try. They were fresh and hot even minutes later. Overall, I am happy and will definitely come again. Vanila creme cold brew will get you right. If you are looking for a date night spot. Saturdays a little before 10pm is a good time, before the crowd come out and parking gets intense. (You're welcome)

This was my first time eating here. A friend said we MUST eat at this original location & I'm so glad we did. The food was phenomenal! At first I thought it was pricy, but for the amount of food that was on my plate... Worth every penny! The place was cute, it's old & shows a lot of wear, but that won't stop me from going back. My only "eww" moment was the bathroom! They need a major cleaning & updating. My 11 year old (who weighs just over 50 lbs) sat on the commode & it nearly tipped over! Barely bolted down. We couldn't tell if there was urine or water on the floor. It was really gross. Will this stop me from going again, nope! I will just make sure I use the restroom at home before I go :) The food is a must eat! Staff was super nice & attentive.

Love this location. Do not go to the Richardson location, alway come to this one! We came here this weekend and had a great experience; pancakes, potatoes, eggs and the service was amazing and it was 3 in the morning!! I’m in McKinney and today we went to the Richardson location because I was craving more pancakes. The deep ellum location made such a positive impression on me, I wanted it again but didn’t want to drive that far! Lesson learned, since they are franchises, it was not the same and next time I will come back to this location.. it’s the OG of the Cafe Brazil locations!! Well done and thank you!! We will be back!

0 stars!!!! Very very rude. I was just told that door dash orders haven’t even been worked on. I was fine with that after a few seconds I asked a bald gentleman with glasses could they put the orders in. He threw his hands up in the air rude as hell and stated “ I mean we are busy” I politely said u are very rude his reply was that was rude question let me get the manager. Manager came over and was very sweet I told her that the waiter was very rude and exactly what happened while I’m talking to her he came up and butt in our conversation. I politely told him I’m not talking to u you got the manager so I’m talking to her. Here he goes acting very sassy saying I’m talking about him in his face. Smh HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! I’m gonna reach out to corporate or someone else Monday morning
The service was good from our waitress; however the fact that you have to pay for parking puts a bad taste in your mouth. There was literally a boot on another car in their lot - not good. In addition, the carpet is very run down and had all sorts of debris/hair/ food on it. The sanitation of the place could definitely be better as we sat down and our tables were not wiped down or anything. The food is very greasy in nature and has too much on the plates to really enjoy the quality of the food. Sorry I’ve tried to go here and give the benefit of the doubt several times and it has always been a miss.

Horrible ; you have to pay or they’ll boot your car !!
I literally have no idea why this place has good reviews, the food was awful. Service was friendly! But the food was unappetizing and we left wanting to cook something ourselves. The pancrepes were doughy and bland. The eggs tasted like plastic forks and the coffee was so watered down. We walked in and we could hardly hear each other speak because the music was so loud, thankfully they turned the volume down when they noticed they could barely hear us order. I wouldn’t recommend it if you want a good breakfast.

I really wanted to try this place after hearing that it was on Diners, Drive ins and Dives. I was not impressed. I ordered the chorizo crepes and my guest got spinach crepes. The home made chorizo was good but they were small and greasy. There needed to be something to balance out the plate such as apple sauce, fruit, sliced tomatoes, or at least some eggs. The flavor balance was off and the portions were off. The service was mediocre. The table and tge bench seats were dirty with crumbs and grease and on top of everything we had to pay for parking. I may go back to try it one more time....... but for now, only 3 stars. Unimpressed. Restaurants that are hit-or-miss are not worth going back to.
Cafe Brazil is a great spot for a weekday brunch. There was no crowd, just good service and good food. Their Chicken and Waffles is a must try and I must extend kudos to our attentive waitress who went the extra mile by creating a custom menu item at my request. I had a craving for a matcha latte, even though it wasn't listed on the menu (they have Matcha smoothies though), and she happily concocted one for me. This accommodating gesture was greatly appreciated and underscored the dedication to customer satisfaction. Hope to return for breakfast again!

Came here after my docs appointment. Server was nice and it was early morning on a Thursday so no people. I got a veggie omelette and hashbrowns. Wish they wouldn’t charge for a substitute or at least the servers should let us know there would be an additional charge. Decent food just a bit overpriced for certain al la carte items. 6.99 for two pancakes and $5 for a basic shake seems severely overpriced..we spent about $50 for two people on breakfast which is not ideally the best for on a budget. Prolly will not come back because food is not that much worth it.

Good omelet. Excellent coffee (had an Americano, black, but the flavor was excellent so i didn't add my usual cream). Low key setting. BE CAREFUL WITH THE PARKING: IF YOU are in the adjacent lot that says free parking from 6 to 10am, you have to pay ANYTIME OUTSIDE THOSE HOURS. We had to pay a significant fine to have boots removed from our wheels because we hadn't paid. The sign is unclear, but they will fine you if you are there outside those hours and did not pay. Use the QR code to make payment.

The food was great as always, the service was fun and personable. The atmosphere is of the usual hole-in-the-wall place, but coming from a 30-year-old original, I'm sure we'd show a few wrinkles and cracks as well. They talked to us about the future renovations that are on the near horizon. This will only make a long time great, even greater. If you've never been, then you're missing out.

Cafe Brazil is a great restaurant overall and one of my breakfast favorites. I don't get to have breakfast at their downtown location too often but it definitely ranks as the best one in the chain. A couple family favorites, the Chorizo omelette and the fruit Crepes. Of course the self serve coffee bar is always a hit with 3-5 brewed flavors to accompany your breakfast.

Make sure you check out the art on the wall, enjoy the coffee bar or grab some amazing coffee to take home. Went for brunch and had the banana bread french toast, very well made, not to sweet. The other photo is the huevos rancheros, which was definitely delicious. Trust me you won't regret coming to this gem!

I've only been once and had the chicken and waffles. It was pretty dang good. The portions were enough to fill you up. If I remember, in addition to the chicken and waffles, you got an egg, bacon, and potatoes. The waffles were standard, as were the eggs, bacon and potatoes. The chicken however crushed it....not dry, the flavor was great...it was the MVP of the plate. Probably gonna go back.

First impressions are important. We walked into dirty, filthy carpet. There was no one to welcome us. After a wait for a table we had another wait to get our menus. My husband actually had to get up and ask for menus for us. I got up to go to the restroom and they were absolutely atrocious. Water puddles, paper on the floor, clearly they had not been cleaned for a while. On a positive note my husband said the coffee was really good and the food was average. If service and cleanliness is not a priority, this is the place for you.
We arrived around 11am on a Saturday, and there was no wait. We immediately found a table and were greeted by our server. The coffee was good. We tried several types. (Caramel Macchiato, Bourbon Pecan, Mexican Mocha, Java Jolt) All were good. We had Southwest Chorizo Rolls as an appetizer, and they were very tasty. We both had breakfast. Banana Nut French Toast was by far the best item. I HIGHLY recommend it. If you are in the area, you shoud try it.

Be sure to keep an eye on your parking time while in deep Ellum... the local parking meter maids are monsters with the wheel boot. We were ok but a car next to us got booted, and on a Sunday morning.... good luck finding anyone who can respond to resolve the problem. Not the restaurants fault tho... they are great.

Been here so many times and I've always had a great experience. They have a decent selection of coffees for which they're known for and all day breakfast food. The best times, honestly, are weekdays and Friday nights because weekends are crazy. Another cool thing is that you often meet artists that are in town here. It's the funniest thing. Me and some friends caught Ariel Pink's band here the other day lol. Overall, chill spot to visit.
I was there to pick up our order and the manager that works The night shift is very rude and she does not need to be a manager. She’s not professional at all Very bad attitude there’s no place for a company or a place for someone to go enjoy food and eat and spend money and you got a type of trash working for this company sad

The waitress told me they had fresh-squeezed orange juice, so I ordered one. It was definitely not fresh squeezed. The chicken in the chicken empanada was the driest shredded chicken that I've ever had in my life. Scrambled eggs were fine. Just fine. Potatoes were fine. Just fine. this is honestly got to be one of the worst restaurants in the area. With so many great places around, that's just no reason to come here.
I'm upset that I can't remember our server's name because he gave the absolute best service! I got the breakfast power bowl which was the perfect amount of food. I was full, but not too full where I would be miserable. Will definitely come back next time I'm coming through the area.

24 hour diner with fantastic good, a rich array of coffees, friendly servers, clean restrooms, a parking lot, outdoor patio, and free WiFi. You won't go wrong with anything on the menu, but I've had the chicken tortilla soup, frozen strawberry lemonade, chicken bacon and waffles, and chicken fried steak with eggs--everything has been delicious and prepared with care. If only I could give more than five stars...
This place is ALWAYS a winner! Love, love, LOVE the cheese fries!!! The hot chocolate is super delicioso!! The Strawberry Grand Marnier cake didnt have enough liqueur for my liking, but hey... Overall, a person can't go wrong with this joint! Oh and this location and the staff are so fitting for the Deep Ellum scene. They are open 24/7, so drop by if ever in the area. I promise you will NOT be disappointed!!!
Coffee bar selection is always great. This is a really good place to go if you are looking for a variety of everything or just a decent cup of joe. The items are a little on the pricey side, but the portion sizes make up for that. All in all, it's a great place to eat.

Walked in to the smell of maple syrup at 1030a on a Thursday. Food was great. Much needed after having a few days of the sloppy hotel buffets. This one serves you a good portion and well cooked. We had a wonderful meal here.. and the place was full of patrons. The naysayers of this place are just nitpicking or something. Music wasn't loud, service was great, and the food arrived quickly and the crepes were out of this world. We left full and happy. For me if a place can cook good spuds then they know what they're doing and this place has great spuds. We will definitely be back.
Me & the hubs visited on Sunday morning around 9am. The place only had a few couples eating. Music was great! They offer a coffee area so you can get your own refills. Amazing coffee that can be purchased in 1 pound bags. Nothing but good things to say about the service & atmosphere. Small area for outside dining but we chose inside for this trip. Great little spot in downtown area.
This was my 2nd visit in 1 week. It's my new late night food spot. My first visit, I had the chicken spinach crepe. It was delicious! It was Sunday morning and the place was somewhat busy. I still received my order fairly quickly. This visit, I had the steak quesadilla (nice portion size, quite filling) and a cup of chicken tortilla soup (wish I had ordered a bowl). Both were great.
Have eaten at Cafe Brazil for years but first time at Deep Ellum location. Food was good as always, but Jordan the manager was outstanding. Love her attention to service. Will definitely be back.

Great late night eats! Snicker doodle coffee and some great breakfast food how can you go wrong? I'm always looking for tasty clean options and this place fits the bill. I get the build your own omelette with shredded chicken, spinach and no cheese. Comes with some tasty potatoes. A great healthy option that is good at any time of the day
Great food and amazing staff as always. To those going out to restaurants during this time of Covid, please understand the cooks/workers are stressed more than you think. Get off your pompous high horses and be patient and kind to others. People that work at restaurants aren't your servants nor should be talked to disrespectful. TIP BIG.
Food was okay. Burrito was on the dry side but the beans were good. I did take home leftovers and eat them later. Wouldn't recommend this place to others but if you are in the area and hungry, Cafe Brazil will get the job done. We didn't try any of the desserts. Maybe if we had picked different menu items this review would be different.
Horrible service. The waitress took forever to greet me. After she brought my juice it took another 23 minutes to ask if I was ready to order because she was on her phone. I wouldn't recommend this place to a dog or the homeless.

Once again, Cafe Brazil is my go-to for brunch, lunch, any time, I love it! The Brazilian Breakfast is the way to go if your looking for their unique style of “traditional” breakfast. The chorizo empanada is my favorite! My boyfriend orders the chicken fried steak and raves about it. Must try if you’re in town! @texaseatsandtreats
They have ingredients in their food that is NOT listed on the menu. Ingredients that the waitstaff is not aware of either. I just had a horrific allergic reaction to the walnuts, along with nothing done about it at the restaurant. Unfortunate, but we will never be coming back.

Kevin and Tiffany were the best waiters tonight. They were super friendly and seemed as though they enjoyed their job. They kept us company our whole stay and our food was great! I don’t stay in deep Ellum but I’d for sure come back just because of how pleasant our experience was.
Went there around 2PM today, good time to go if you want a quiet place. Excellent service, amazing food and great atmosphere. I got an omelette and iced caramel macchiato and it was delicious! They also have gender neutral restrooms, which I loved. Overall excellent place to dine
The crepes were amazing I had never accompanied them with grapefruit and pineapple but it was a surprisingly great combination. The server was very kind and attentive and the ambiance was nice and chill

The waitress was friendly and offered great recommendations. The food is delicious, with generous portion sizes. It came to our table hot. The bourbon pecan coffee is DELICIOUS!! It is also friendly on the wallet.

Not sure how this place has a good rating. Had to return 4 mugs due to lipstick stains on them. Food was cold. I had empanada which is not an empanada at all. It was just bread with sausage inside it. Dry and tasteless. It’s not made with pastry at all.
Very friendly and delicious good, would definitely go back

Great breakfast place located in Deep Ellum. Full menu choices. Today we had the tex-mex dishes Huevos Rancheros and Chilaquiles, both pictured. Choice of meat includes the homemade chorizo which we highly recommend.
Absolutely excellent! Breakfast at all hours, unlimited coffee, and a SUPER cozy atmosphere has had me coming back for many years. Whether its lunch alone or an evening with friends I always recommend Cafe Brazil!
Best latte in the city!

Cafe Brazil offers so many unique dining options. It truly is hard to decide on what to indulge in! I tried the Breakfast Pancake Tacos this time and I was NOT disappointed! I can't wait to come back & visit.
Paid $18 for parking just to find out they are closed on Wednesday afternoons per small paper sign on the door despite being listed on Google as open 24 hours. Call before you go to make sure they are open.
Horrible customer service. Some lady employee hung up on me because I asked if I could order over the phone ahead of time while on the way to pick it up and she just hung up on me.

This is right in the middle of the deep ellum area with lots of clubs around to enjoy music and dance. The food is great and staff is awesome.

Food was great! Bottomless coffee was cool too. It was pretty busy so the bottomless coffee area kept running low pretty often. I definitely recommend though! Snickerdoodle was my favorite flavor!
Home spun deliciousness that helps anchor this classic neighborhood. Deep Ellum is a rich treasure of Dallas history and forgotten culture. This restaurant is a classic and staple of Deep Ellum.
Great Place for Specialty Coffee, which is my favorite and Breakfast or Brunch.....etc. Love this Place, sitting on the patio drinking ☕!

This place could potentially be a 5 star great service, decent food, but to many flies. I couldn't even eat comfortably with all the flies all over my food. We sat inside the restaurant.
It's a great litte place. Our waiter looked like Andre 3000 and sang to us. We had a great time and great food and drinks.

Yummy breakfast here. Had the regular breakfast plates and a tasty sugar free vanilla latte. Service was very quick and food excellent!

Don't let the name fool you. It's not Brazilian food but rather Southern Tex-Mex with a great selection of coffees. Nice waiter, homemade food, great presentation.

Nice cafe/lunch spot. Room my mother here and she was very impressed, hard to do. The food was so delicious and well portioned. Very well furnished, good vibes.
Nice breakfast spot in Dallas' hip district. They serve diner-style food here, though with better ambiance. A lot of interesting coffee drinks as well.
The smoked turkey cepes are devine and there is no better coffee in town than the Bourbon Pecan.

The server was polite and all but he forgot our order, my burger came out extra rare. Gross. Oak Cliff location isn't any better. Never again.

Always a good place to grab a bite. Great prices. Delicious food. In a trendy area of Dallas. A short walk from the DART train station.
The coffee was delicious and unlimited. I enjoyed our time. The brunch is good also, I just really like my coffee. I will visit again!
