"I’ve been going to this cafe for over 17 years and it is hands down the best cafe in town! You can smell the coffee as you are approaching the door! The staff was always been awesome! I was 14 the first time my mom ever took me there! She was studying English at Instituto Latino and used to take me to swimming lessons at Sheridan Park so we would stop there for dinner sometimes, I started eating a chicken salad sandwich with hot coco and now my go to is the tuna foccacia sandwich with a Large Golden bean! The pastries are fresh and delicious but you seriously can’t beat the coffee taste ! Starbucks got nothing on Jumping bean! I can honestly say Jumping bean is a Chicago and Pilsen staple!!! To the staff, I hope you guys are around for many more years !!!

Once upon a time, in a land called the 1990s, dinosaurs roamed the earth and coffee shops where people could unite to read, write and discuss ideas whilst sipping from giant mugs abounded. Cafe Jumping Bean proves joints like that still exist. Break away from the chains peddling caffeinated milkshakes and make a trip to Pilsen to support this longstanding institution. Coffee is strong, smooth and delicious. The bites they offer are exceedingly flavorful and filling. We tried both the Lox and Mollete (add avocado). Bright, cool, funky and inviting just like you remembered and thought the future would always be. Make a stop, get out of the car, and spend your money at a place with heart, soul and comfort intact. You know, like how coffee is supposed to be. (Shoutout to Luis Gusto and his film about Pilsen on YouTube )

I ordered the Mollete (I added avocado) & a oat milk latte with Mexican chocolate. Both were greats. Customer service was great. Food/beverage arrived promptly — even on a busy day. Medium sized menu. Enough to make me want to come back and try something else too. There is limited seating… less than 20 seats. Most took it to go. Overall good experience. Diverse crowd of folks coming it. I’d recommend checking it out.

Had a nice breakfast at Jumping Bean. We wanted sandwiches and good coffee, which we also got. However the choice of coffee was not without complication. I thought they had a cappuccino latte combo, but I got a latte with cinnamon. It was not what I had in mind, but it tasted surprisingly good. I was very pleased with the tuna salad sandwich. It tasted great and was big enough to also last for a light lunch My friends who I was with also struggled with understanding what the staff said, but we were all pleased with what we got to eat and drink. Maybe if we come back an other time ordering would be easier and we could give the extra star?

I went in there after seeing a few IG post. I placed ordered my ice coffee and two sandwiches to go. After 20 minutes I asked about my food. The guy who charged me $25, was lost as to what happened to my order. He couldn’t even find the order ticket. Neither the cashier or the lady who seemed like the owner offered to make my food. They both with an attitude just said “will give you your money back if you want”. I try supporting small businesses but this isn’t one I’ll ever go to again. I would give it 1/2 a star if I could!!

My tía told me about this place. I thought it was a generic coffee shop—WRONG. Warm, cultural atmosphere and a kind, fun presence from the people behind the counter. I got a mollete with avocado and vegan chorizo. Ate it before I could take a picture. The bread was warm and crunchy and the ingredients had a rich quality of life to them. Highly recommend, will be coming back.

Wow is what I said about everything on this first experience I had at the Cafe Jumping Bean. Wow looking at the great colors they have on the outside; wow at the decore and hand written menu; wow at the wrapping on my Lox Bagel; wow at the Mocha Almond Delight flavor explosion in my mouth; wow at the look and taste of the bagel. I wish I lived closer so I could go more often. This is on my favorite list here on Google maps and I will be going when I need some more wow in my life.

I have been coming here for so long (over 10 years)! Food is so good here, the soups (always runs out fast), the sandwiches, and smoothies. The coffee is horrible, but many people like it. The service is ok and the place is too tiny, if you dine-in expect to bump into people (tables are always taken). Maybe go early or take it to go!

Since I came to Chicago in August 2021 this is the best coffee I ever had. I ordered cappuccino and Veg Focaccia with chips. Foccacia was awesome but Cappuccino was beyond amazing. The one who made me the coffee was very polite, when I asked her to make my coffee a little more strong.

Best Cuban sandwich for a fair price! The dirty chai is fairly priced & so good! The chocolate croissant tastes so good. I can't say enough good things about this place. I think it's Hispanic locally owned & I love to support that. The workers are attentive. I didn't order the lux bagel but I was shocked how cheap it was I would order it next time.

Found this spot while driving around Pilsen. Breakfast bagels and sandwiches are amazing. We had a Lox Bagel, and each bite was full of fresh and tasty ingredients. Coffee is delicious, we had an Iced Carmela, and it is tasty with notes of smoked caramel. The line goes out the door, so you know it is good!

Really pleasant cafe with a ton of drink options and a reasonably sized menu of cafe foods. The veggie focaccia sandwich was shockingly delicious, although it took a little while to be ready. Also note that there’s not a ton of seating.

I've only been there once, but the ham & cheese melt was pretty good. And it was my first time having a Breve (2 espresso shots and half n half). Needless to say I got a new caffeine addiction on top of the one I already have.

This is definitely a local favorite. There was a line spilling out onto the street. To me, the sandwich and coffee were good but nothing extraordinary. Maybe I just didn't know the magic order. It does have a lot of vegetarian/vegan options, which I appreciated, and it's a nice place to people watch.

I never considered myself a coffee person until I was told about Cafe Jumping Bean. I highly recommend the Thai iced coffee and focaccia pizza; you won’t regret it! I make it a point to stop by almost every week and pick up that combo specifically. To top it all off, it’s always nice seeing the new artwork on the walls while you wait!

I got the beet root latte with oat milk and the molletes sandwich and both were amazing! I don’t live anywhere near pilsen but I’ll go just to visit this cafe

Haven’t been to this spot in years and today I stopped by while I waited for my Uber. I had the chicken salad sandwich and it was the perfect sandwich for this summer heat!! I also had the iced Mexican chocolate with oatmilk and it was divine! Will be coming back more often! Thanks to all the staff, y’all are awesome! More

The food and coffee are always delicious here but I think the service is exceptional! I had an Iced Choco Espresso with a little more ice than expected and Valeria was very nice to make me a new drink without any hesitation. I love this spot! What else can I ask for?

Not sure if I went at a bad time but employees were not welcoming or friendly from what I was used to in the past. They did get my food order wrong but since I was greeted with cold attitudes I did not feel comfortable approaching them again. The only good thing from this experience was the coffee.

  • Mochi Sochi

I’ve been stopping by for coffee here now for around 10 years. The coffee is always freshly brewed and never disappoints. I usually go for the cafe con leche. I’ve never had much of their food aside from the black bean burger. Which is always well made here so I usually stick to what I like.

  • Michael Stellfox

Their molletes are incredible. Spent a lot of long nights here during grad school. Glad to see they survived the pandemic, as this shop has the kindest workers, most reasonably priced food, best vibes, and strong coffee in the area. I do wish they were still open til 9 PM though More

Super great local business! I got a chai and a snack and it got me hooked. As a Indian I'm always trying to find any place that can replicate the Chai from my childhood. This place is the closest I've gotten outside of Devon and I've tried
