One of my favorite lunch spots! This is the kind of place where they know you by name and remember your favorites. Rista goes above and beyond with their amazing food. I usually end up saving half my sandwich because it's so generous, and every soup I've tried is one I'd eat again. I've brought many people here over the years and they've become regulars too :). Hayley works magic with hot and cold drinks... I recommend the cortado, dirty chai, turmeric butterscotch latte, and especially the matcha latte with strawberry and rose. Did I mention they support local coffee roasters? Try some there or take it home! Simon's sandwich specials are epic, the ko-reuben and anything with pulled meat are a hit with my tastebuds. His tuna cheddar melt is my favorite tuna melt anywhere. I could say so much more, but I think this place speaks for itself. The people are fantastic and the food is great! If you haven't tried it, come by!

The worst customer service I ever experienced. The male chef (guessing the owner) was the most dull, unenthusiastic, quiet person I ever met. I would have a more exciting conversation talking to a wall. The breakfast wrap he made me was great, only reason why I came back. As I was waiting to be served the lady working kept making eye contact with me without saying anything. I said under my breathe “no hi how can I help u or I’ll be with u in a minute?” So after 5min of me awkwardly standing there, some other guy came in and that lady said to him in a very happy manner “Hey there! Would you need?”. I never left an establishment so fast in my life. This was my first ever google review and hope it’s the last, I’m not the criticizing type but with the service I got from there I had to.

I've been coming here regularly since working nearby & I don't think i'll ever stop going. The daily specials are always to die for and if you're not a fan of that then my go to is the Italian grill! But any daily special on a pretzel bun will never disappoint. The staff are always friendly & kind. The food is always great & the coffee is always fresh. What more does one want? Highly recommend to anyone that's in the area for a sandwich, whether it be breakfast or lunch!

I found this place through Edmonton's Coffee Passport, and I'm sorry to say, it was an absolutely horrid experience. For starters, the young girl who helped me was so unfriendly... she barely made eye contact, and acted like helping me was the worst thing that had ever happened to her. Then came the drink... a salted caramel latte. At least that's what it was supposed to be. The flavor was 80% salt and 20% plastic... I've never tasted anything like it. I actually threw up my first sip and had to dump the rest. I HIGHLY don't recommend this place.

I've only been here a couple other times before and today was because I wanted to complete my coffee pass. The reason why I don't visit often is because of the location far from where I live and work, but the bigger issue is the hours as they're not open on weekends nor evenings. The food menu is great and I had a lox bagel here before and enjoyed it. This time around I got a chai latte. The space is red and black with a lot of natural light coming through. Not a great view since one side is parking lot and the other is a residential street, so if you're here, you're most likely here for the company you're with anyway.

My husband had a doctor's appointment in the same building as the Cafe. While waiting I decided I wanted a good coffee after buying from A&W & Tim's to only end up throwing both away because they just weren't hitting the spot. I ordered a small Peanut Butter Mocha and was not disappointed. It was creamy and the hints of peanut butter were perfect. All though I only tried one item from the menu it has made me want to try more. I will be making special trips to try more and maybe see if you can purchase coffee to take home and make. The Cafe itself was very inviting and had a calming feel to it. The service was great.

I always try and start my birthday off with a good breakfast and after a little research, I settled on Cafe Rista. Tucked away behind a medical center this place offers some fantastic breakfast options you won't really find elsewhere. The cafe has a retro vibe to it with great pieces of art spread out adding to its unique feel. Staff is nice though not too talkative, which for me is perfectly fine. The food itself is absolutely delicious and the prices very reasonable. This turned out to be a fantastic choice for a birthday breakfast to go and I will definitely be back.

This place has amazing food prepared by a chef from scratch every day. The paninis are fantastic and there is a delicious soup of the day Monday-Friday. The coffee is delicious, too! They know their stuff here and all espresso beans are delivered straight from a roaster (never more than a few days old). Fresh beans really make the difference! To top it all off, the guys who work here are so nice and have created a relaxing, comfortable environment to spend time with friends and get a good bite to eat or cup of coffee. I can't say enough about this place. I love it!

First time visit. Wanted bagel and cream cheese, they had no cream cheese. Had cheddar ham n egg instead which was very good. Had a coffee which seemed a bit weak, but it was good. Will visit again

Great place very friendly, clean, I had extremely low expectations for this location as just wandered in and wow; the prices were good for the quality of the food, it tasted fresh. I had the chicken quesadilla and I'm a man who enjoys his quesadilla it was very delicious. The chicken noodle soup tasted homemade from scratch and so did the Chicken Ceasar wrap. The man who was running the counter was great, he would check up on his patrons but not in an annoying way, he was very passionate about his work. I would rate higher but 5/5 is the highest I can go.

  • Vera S.

Amazing. Cold drinks are original and to die for! Sandwiches are phenomenal. I haven't had a chance to try any of the desserts yet, but I will! Staff are polite and kind with service to your table even during the lunch rush. Picked up a couple packs of reusable metal straws - with cleaning brushes (and silicone tips for those of us with metal allergies and expensive dental work.) Can't say enough good about this little gem. Shaded patio, comfy interior. Just off of 142 street. Ample parking and listed on Skip the Dishes. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

  • Christine C

Rude. I just wanted to wait for someone and I wasn't sure if I wanted anything. And the guy was pretty rude. I think it was pretty rude anyways I didn't feel very welcome. I asked him if it was okay if I just sit and he just kept repeating I'll give you a couple of minutes to figure it out. I don't know. I wouldn't see a problem with someone just coming in to sit maybe they would decide that they wanted something I don't really know they definitely wouldn't leave a review on your page talking about their dissatisfaction with the rudeness of the staff.

  • T Z

The girl is defintely a piece of work. Prices and quality were average. She gave me a hard time for wanting to eat in but take by drink in a to go cup not once but twice. An older gentleman came and asked for a drink and needed a little more assistance - I watch the girl roll her eyes at the gentleman when he went back to his table. I guess good help is hard to find - COVID may be over for the most part but, the epidemic left over is abysmal service. Don't waste your time and go to Square 1.

I have been to this place a dozen times or so and it is always delicious in both coffee and food. They do a good job of that. The atmosphere isn’t anything amazing and could be improved upon. I think the main reason this isn’t 5 stars is because the owner/main chef guy is never, ever friendly. Frankly he is overtly grumpy, and I know of others who’ve had this experience and this definitely makes me consider going elsewhere when I’m looking for a quick drink and bite. Will keeping popping in occasionally for a nice drink though!

I used to like this place but recently I am totally put off by the bad attitude from the staff. The staff are quite rude and snitty especially if you don't tip. They seem to expect tips when you order from the counter and they become quite rude if you don't. Don't get me wrong I'll tip especially if there's good service but this is more of a cafe and not a restaurant where you have a waiter. The staff seem to have an entitlement mentality and their behaviour is very boorish and unprofessional. I won't be going back here.

I love this shop! Haley is the extremely lovely and a great barista. Simon is a gem as a whole but also knows a thing or two about making a killer sandwhich. Please check them out, if you think you're cool enough

I'm torn here . The food is for the most part amazing ! The service on the other hand is brutal . The attitude that comes with some expensive food isn't worth it . Almost seems like it's such an inconvenience to place a food order . To the 2 guys working there , here's a tip - try being a little polite and be friendly . Lose the attitude. If you see it's getting kinda busy maybe put down your paper and sandwich and help out your buddy working so we don't have to wait 15-20 mins for a bagel .

Drove my sister to her dentist appointment this morning and was desperate for a cup of coffee. Wandered in with relatively low expectations and ordered a very large quantity of caffeine! Just took a sip while waiting for my sis. Amazing! One of the best coffees I have ever had and I have actually attended coffee conferences in Yemen. Super strong (4 shots) and flavorful, but so smooth. No bitterness whatsoever. I guess I'll be taking my sis to all her dental appointments from now on!!

Cafe Rista is a very unique cafe that has a wonderful atmosphere. The staff here are very friendly and the service was prompt. The coffee was excellent and well priced. My fiancé has the avocado toast and she said it was the best she has ever had. The pecan pie that I enjoyed was incredible as well. I certainly look forward to returning in the future and trying some of the other tasty looking food options and drinks.

Somewhat conflicted. The guy running this sandwich shop knows how to grill a sandwich to the perfect thoroughness and texture and consistency. However, the Reuben we got had like two slices of smoked meat, of which wasn’t particularly flavourful to begin with. Good smoked meat sandwiches in my restaurant history has always had the smoked meat piled on! Yet, there’s so much potential! A small supplier and meat quantity improvement can make such a big difference here!

  • Trish Makarian

Family came in for a late breakfast. Lovely staff and tasty meals. Coffee was great too. It was quiet when we went there so if you’re looking for a place that isn’t packed with people and you can find a seat, this is it. As an opportunity for improvement, tables and chairs could be updated to give it a more cosy cafe vibe.

I'm definitely coming back for a lunch. I didn't order food this trip (just an amazingly crafted latté) but their sandwich paninis look amazing. Seemed like a better then normal coffee place you wouldn't normally find buried in a local neighborhood. Parking isn't the best, but still manageable.

The staff is pretentious. Not sure why the snobby attitude? Also their chicken-bacon wrap is 85% greens which are bitter. I did go back to give them a second chance, but the guy at the counter was snappy when I asked about decaf lattes and generally unwelcoming. The salted caramel latte burnt my mouth and was boiling hot to the point where even with a sleeve over the cup it was still too hot to carry.

  • Tiffany Massey

This USED to be my favorite lunch spot. But the last few times the service has been terrible, today my dad was meeting me for lunch and he was completely ignored for a full 5 minutes, another customer came in and she was greeted right away and still they ignored my dad. The food has gotten sloppy and not nearly as good as it used to be. Looks like a new lunch spot is needed. So so disappointed

  • Matthew Fong

The hours are great because I start work at 8AM and Rista opens up early enough that I can come and still enjoy a coffee without having to rush. They have a peanut butter mocha that is rich and delicious. It's nice to be able to sit with my bike at the outdoor tables, instead of having to constantly glance outside from an inside table.

Great little neighbourhood restaurant, a hidden gem. Used Today for coffee and snack waiting for lab appointment. I was early. Restaurant was clean and tables/chairs were clear and tidy. Great selection muffins/pastries and sandwiches. Coffee was hot and fresh. Condiment counter tidy and well-stocked. Emotes service was friendly, welcoming and efficient. Will visit again.

Simon is an absolute gem to walk into at any time of day. Been here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner with a beer and it's always some of the most impressing food I've ever had. And it's all at cafe pricing. None of that Starbucks $8 for a coffee and $9 for an egg bite. If you swing by tell Simon that Nathan from Jetco says "Nice shirt"

  • Dylan Matthew

Checked this place out with the 'Coffee Pass'. It's the ONLY cafe I've been to that doesn't charge extra for non-dairy milk. INCREDIBLE. Goes to show that everywhere else is ripping you off. The owner was friendly and the coffee was pretty good. Will be back!

The perfect sandwich spot! Whenever I'm in the area, I need to stop by Cafe Rista to grab a bite and some caffeine! Simon makes the most delicious sandwiches and wraps. They regularly offer different special items, I particularly like how there is also a new drink on the menu. I've always had a pleasant experience at Rista!!

The food and drinks are excellent. I have yet to be disappointed by a daily special or a classic dirty chai tea latte. But the most important part of cafe rista is the wonderful people. Simon, Erica and Chris all make the environment in the cafe welcoming and personal. Overall just a fantastic gem in Glenora.

Great cafe with yummy sandwiches and lighter fare such as salads, wraps. Also breakfast options. Always a special and some soup available. Treats like cakes and cookies if you want something sweet. Nice specialty beverages too. Really lucky to have this local spot in the Grovenor hood.

I went just before noon and had an excellent sandwich and apple juice for just north of 10 dollars. It was a chicken with pate and tomatoes and lettuce on a croissant, I didn't catch the name it was delicious and probably very healthy too. The decor is modern artsy.

I had a coffee and the Italian breakfast sandwich. It was busy early on a Saturday morning, and the taste was probably the reason for that. Reasonable prices, desserts, sandwiches, coffee (including espresso drinks). A cozy gem! I will definitely be back.

The tuna cheeder melt was delicious. It had an even amount of flavor. I'm going to say one of my new favorite soup and sandwich places. Service was friendly. Even with all of the covid rules in place. They have a great menu.

Really enjoy the cafe mocha as well as the apple oat muffin. Edit: (This card is not always out, I'm unsure when the businesses release it)They have a card for local coffee/donut places to get a free coffee as well.

Staff was really friendly, and there is plenty of inside seating & parking is really easy. I enjoyed the coffee drink, but the snacks were just meh. I would be interested in trying the plenty of food options though!

Good food. Good value for the pice. Gruff, grumpy, and seemingly unthankful owner. The word thanks never uttered when I paid and tipped and returned dirty cutlery and plates at the end of it all. Life’s too short…
