I have been coustumer for over 10 years I always come alone, I live uptown but come pretty often as I love this place and I just love sitting outside over there so regardless cold temperature today (no single table outside was taken) I asked for a table outside waiter pointed at an empty chair at the bar where you would have to really squeeze as the bar was super packed and said I could only sit at the bar. I was sure he misunderstood thought I asked for table inside there was no table inside available so he offered me the bar so I went "oh no I would like table outside", he refused to give me one saying one person I could only sit at the bar as they have only one waitress. Wow first of all no matter how many waitress you guys have usually I have to wait probably about 15 minutes before someone finally comes to take an order ( last time after 15 minutes of waiting I went inside to ask if I could place an order) not to mention usually I have to go inside to ask for 2nd glass of wine and then the check because waitress bearly checks on you and as I said usually not always but usually and it's all good...I don't think today would take longer then that 15 minutes for waitress to be able to take my order? I went downtown today just to have my lunch at select so I guess I won't be making such a trip again since now waiter can refuse give a table because you are alone. Update... if it comes to your response below. Since you guys installed lamps outside I don't remember your outdoor dining being closed and didn't look closed yesterday as lamps were on and tables were set up...as I also mentioned most of the time no matter how many people work I still have to wait pretty long to place an order then go inside to pay and all good I don't care I'm easy going. Refusing to give a table for one person because there's only one waitress is messed up. The waiter clearly said cannot give me a table because I'm alone not because outdoor dining is closed and outdoor dining was not closed. Select is a cool place so you can assume coustumers are cool as well, should have given me a choice you either squeeze at the bar and have quick service or I can give you table but you might wait forever since we have one waitress here instead of you can only have a bar or go somewhere else. Sorry big disappointment, Select has been one of my favorite places in the city since 10 years and no worries I will delete this review only reason I left it I wanted to reach out to you because what the writer did yesterday was not right if I decide to go all the way downtown for lunch place is busy I have to wait for table well but if I come and I'm coming from upper west side and writer refuses to give me table at all because I'm alone obviously I'm not be coming back.

In this area, there are many cafes targeted at tourists, but the service and the taste of the food often don't quite live up to expectations. Initially, we had similar thoughts as we decided to step into this café for a beer and maybe some chips. The staff inside warmly showed us to our seats and took our orders with big smiles. While I wished the beer had been a bit colder, the Lobster Bacon Sandwich we ordered was incredibly delicious, pleasantly simple, meticulously prepared, and even had a cute Swiss flag decoration. The lobster was fresh, and its pairing with avocado was spot on. Eating the sandwich, it became evident that this café puts a lot of care into their food, making us confident that choosing this place was the right decision. Later, we ordered warm Apple Strudel, Prosecco, and Hot Coffee. At $3 for drip coffee in this area, it's very reasonable! The taste was delightful and rich. The warm apple strudel was made with great attention, not overly sweet, with a crispy crust and a melt-in-your-mouth filling—arguably the best apple pie in New York! I'll definitely come back here, aiming to try the Lobster Bisque that everyone praises. Until next time!

Very over rated is the summary of the visit. The food was okay, nothing special, but the prices made us feel like they robbed you in broad daylight. I included pics below, first guess of the total? Burger, no fries, no cheese, salad (no greens or protein), two drinks. $93 !!! Absolutely crazy, not worth the price at all. Would not recommend going here- for that cost, there are 20+ better restaurants in a 2 block radius. Edit: Crazy that the restaurant tried to call out my math not working out (even though it does, see breakdown below) rather than offer any actual feedback to counter my points. Yes NYC is expensive, hence your expectation is that you receive a quality meal. With so many amazing restaurants in NYC worth the money, it’s not worth going here. Burger $21 Salad $17 Drinks $34 Tax $6 Tip $15 Total $93 - math checks out (also crazy the restaurant says tipping is optional, I wonder how their waitstaff would react to the owner telling the customers not to tip)

I really dislike giving negative reviews, but this place really disappointed me. Firstly, after taking our order we waited over an hour to get our food. When the food arrived, it was lukewarm. I ordered the hangar steak and it was very subpar - too chewy to enjoy. The escargot was fine, but not the most flavourful. According to my friends, the Zucchini chips were absolutely delicious. I did not try them as I am GF. Finally, at the end of the meal there was a complication with the bill. My friend who booked the reservation had to put down a $20 per person fee in advance, which was supposed to be put towards the meal. When the bill arrived it had not been deducted and had my friend not spoken up, the waiter wouldn’t have taken the money off. This in itself was a big ordeal as the waiter had to go back into the kitchen for a while to figure out how to take the money off the bill. This is my second time at Cafe Select and unfortunately I don’t think I will be returning.

Food was great. We had the Catalan Shrimp as an appetizer. My entire party had the risotto, except me. I had the chicken schnitzel. They devoured their plates and raved about how great it was. The chicken schnitzel was cooked to perfection, the green salad had a wonderfully paired tangy salad dressing and I really loved the potato salad. I also had an selective spritz that was nice and refreshing. The ambience and decor is nice. The service was slow, but it's fair to say it was a busy Thursday night. We also made reservations ahead of time.

Food is fine. The service however is simply rude, not good, they are a bit stuck up. I believe they don’t want tourists in their local. Twice we went there and treated us like if we’re out of place or bothering at the door with our tourist appearance (thick coat and carrying a bag on my back…). The girl at the door is simply stupid… I don’t recommend this place. I give 2 stars because the food is not bad and the young girl who served our food was nice (I bet she was new there…).

Food was great! My kids loved the spaetzle the most- so glad it was on the menu. Salad was fresh and very authentic. Don't understand all the complaints. Service was fine here but lets all keep in mind that post-covid, staffing for all small businesses has been extremely rough. I would come back!

I’d give this place a 4, but hostess, even though I asked for a better table, sat me and my bf way in the back corner even though I had a reservation and place was still fairly empty. The excuse was that they had group parties. Several tables for 2 were empty and stayed that way for at least an hour. The waiter however was great. The hostess was a little snotty. You can see where we were seated on 2nd pic I took later on.

GO HERE !!! I’ve recently become obsessed with cheese and this place has become my go to spot for fondue and raclette ! The ambiance is very welcoming and charming; reminds me of being in the mountains. Great cocktails as well, def get the espresso martini and dirty (it comes with cute Swiss flag). Service was also very good. Overall this place is super chill and laid back.

Went for drinks, stayed for Christmas Dinner! From the get go, the staff couldn't have been nicer and the wine was fantastic. With nowhere else planned, we took a look at the menu and decided to eat here for Christmas. A great menu with lots of choice, every dish we had was superb and our waiter was warm, friendly and super efficient. Can't recommend Café Select enough!

Service was good, food was good but nothing to write home about. We actually accidentally ate here thinking it was BoCaPhe but upon sitting down and looking at the menu realized we were a restaurant away but figured we might as well stay and try it. Brunch is decent but nothing special. A little overpriced if I think about it for what you get.

It’s a nice café in SOHO! Great food, ambiance, and service! Burrata salad is so yummy and refreshing. Eggs Benedict is the smoked salmon was so delicious. Lobster bacon club is the sandwich itself was so good- the avocado, bacon, and lobster all blended super well. But tbh, the spinach quiche was kinda dry and not super flavorful. More

Good place for brunch with a friend, especially when the weather is nice. I don't know if it was just a temporary thing, but It was cash only when we visited it

Pretty great spot!! The ambiance is by far the best part, and the burger was great!! The service was a little inattentive BUT the only reason for this was because there were only about three waiters working the entire place, so this is management’s fault if anything and not at all the staff. More

Really lovely place! I wanted healthier options for breakfast, so we ventured here and I’m so happy we did. The granola and yogurt bowl was amazing and the service and vibe were top notch.

We had the Catalan shrimp for appetizer, herb and classic fondue for dinner, and the apples strudel and toasted almond gelato for dessert. The shrimp appetizer had the most incredible complex and satisfying tastes - I wanted more and more.

What is there not to love about this hip Swiss-American bistro in the heart of the hustle and bustle of Soho? Breakfast and lunch are served until 5pm, and dinner starts right thereafter. I absolutely love their Swiss-inspired plates such

Pleasant outside patio atmosphere. Really nice location to grab a drink late night, unfortunately my first drink was pretty poorly made, but our waiter did a quick swap for a beer and I was happy. I’d stay away from their margaritas.

Menu is a bit eclectic, so picky eaters might not have an easy time choosing something from the swiss heavy menu. Atmosphere is intimate and warm. Staff is friendly and alert even though when I was there it was pretty busy. More

Excellent eggs Benedict Norwegian, avocado toast, Irish coffee, cappuccino and watercress salad. We love everything, lots of options on the menu. Excellent service. The guy seating was grumpy but everyone else was great.

Cozy atmosphere and delicious food. I’ve ordered a nice quinoa salad and a cup of coffee, 5/5 for both. I would definitely go there again and try their burger and something from a dessert menu

Nice ceiling of lights and cool atmosphere inside. I didn’t like the menu options. I ended up just getting the zucchini chips for a quick snack before a movie and their dips were nice. More

Mia and Erin, if I remember correctly, were very inviting and provided great conversation for this Tennessee boy. Give them a pat on the back!!

Perfect cozy Swiss themed place on a wintry nyc night. The schnitzel is the standout here. But the vibes will make you long for a trip back to the old continent.
