This cafe is beautifully decorated and the pastries look amazing, it is perfectly situated in a very busy and popular neighborhood. However, my visit here was overall a very disappointing experience. I ordered an americano and a coffee and a breakfast item and as this was only my second visit I asked if they would bring the food and drinks to my table. I was told that I could pick up the drinks on the side. I was the only one standing and waiting for my drink order, I watched the barista make all the drinks in mugs, bring them to each table and when he made my order he put them in reusable coffee cups. Although I ordered the Americano with Cream and the coffee with milk, he served me both of them black. I had to pour the milk in myself. My partner commented on his Americano that it wasn't great, similar to what you would get at McDonald's. It was a particularly busy day and I ordered the croissant with scrambled eggs and fruit on the side. I was unaware that the kitchen was way behind and felt like they must have forgotten my order when 30 minutes later the food still not had arrived. We were told that the food is all handmade, which I could see for other things on their menu but I'm sure the Chef is not in the kitchen making croissants and it doesn't take 30 minutes to scramble an egg. Later we saw a large party of 8-9 people, all getting their food at different times. As one was finishing their meal the other was just getting it. I will not be returning.

My son and I came here for breakfast for the first time. The cafe is beautiful outside and in and the location is great, I love high street. We had the scrambled eggs and some pastries to go. I thought the scrambled eggs are probably the best I’ve tried at a restaurant. I am pretty picky with my scrambled eggs and usually do not prefer only my own - but I was pleasantly surprised. The food is presented so elegantly and came out very quickly. Our server and person who took the order friendly, professional and made an effort to make my son feel comfortable, welcome & included. I very much appreciated that. The portion sizes may be minutely smaller I guess, but you are also getting multiple items in your meal - which balances out overall. In addition to the scrambled eggs our meal included fruit, potato salad, a green salad and toast. I thought everything tasted great. I ordered the one meal to share between my son and I and we still couldn’t finish our meal. The ambience of the cafe, the quality of food and exceptional customer service is well worth the price which I don’t think is unreasonable when compared to similar cafes in Edmonton. It is on par with every other breakfast / pastry place. I was not surprised by the prices as I had anticipated to pay as much when I’m going anywhere other than Dennys for breakfast. We also ordered a croissant and almond tarte to go I haven’t tried them yet but I’m sure they’ll be great.

Food and coffee is excellent. Nothing to worry about here regardless of what other reviews are saying. I stick to standard espresso drinks because complicated fru fru drinks are for the pedantic. The atmosphere is very nice but it's sullied by dirty chairs and wobbly tables and inconsistent music where some songs fit the style of the place and others just feel so odd. The back of the counter is nice and clean. Customer area needs a bit of focus. Fix the tables. Mend the walls. Clean clean clean. Service. I'm a heavy tipper. And in exchange I expect above an beyond service. I am also a regular customer. The biggest issue with any front end staff in any restaurant will always be consistency of service. This restaurant staff needs to work on their welcome smiles and personable warmth as it applies to consistency. A warm welcome "hello, it's lovely to see you" goes a long way. This is a lovely place where you are selling wants and little moments of joy. Showing gratitude and happiness will simply bring in more business and heavier tips. When it's busy, some of the bakers should be trained in coffee and help out the front end even just a little bit. Show unity in working shoulder to shoulder. I will say there's two ladies that have wonderful beautiful welcoming smiles on very consistent basis.

At first, I was sad about Starbucks leaving their cute corner location until a new locally owned cafe, that I’m now absolutely in love with moved in. It’s a place that feels fancy but welcoming for all to experience a little piece of France right here in Edmonton. Everything is made fresh, and the food is interactive for all the senses; tastes amazing, looks beautiful, smells delectable, and the flawless texture of the food covers off touch. They don’t have all their items out yet that are on their menu, but I’m absolutely in love with their sandwiches (I’ve tried the beef and ratatouille, I assume that the chicken is just as good). I've spent the last 5 minutes trying to find the right words to try and describe how delicious the eclairs are, but I think you’re just better off experiencing them yourself. I can’t wait to see this place when they have everything finished off, but for a soft opening, they have exceeded my expectations, and I’ll be going back all the time for lunch, treats, and maybe some time out on the patio with a friend.

The food and drinks are very professional looking, they get a 10. Abour the service, it's a cafe so don't expect all items to bring to your table, keep put to hear your name and order. Food prices are in the expensive side, it's good for once in a while experience but not for regular visits. For example any brunch dish will set you back $20 plus, a coffee and a pastry another $15. Expect to pay around $35 per person

We were there yesterday among friends and I thought the place was so cozy and fancy. I loved it. Gave me a bit of a vibe of Quebec when we visited last few weeks ago. But anyhow, all four of us ordered coffee, and some scone, pistachio pastry and macaroons. But my other companions coffee took a while to get hers. If we did not follow up, she wouldn't have gotten hers and it was already paid. The scone was dry and it shattered when my companion tried to break it in two to share. I think we got the old one. Pastries and desserts are way too pricey! If you are in a budget, skip the food. Coffee is just the right thing to order here.

Cafe has a very nice interior, pleasant and professional staff. I enjoyed the coffee but unfortunately was little disappointed by pastries. They looked beautiful but taste was not that great. We got the black forrest inspired mousse cake and raspberry white chocolate mousse. The mousse was too stiff and tasted gummy- probably too much gelatine (I understand these need a better shelf life but for a $12 piece I expect more) and weren’t very flavourful. I bake myself and one of my pleasures is to try bakeries anywhere we go. Maybe we did not pick the best the house has to offer but I feel there is other places I would rather go for pastries. I would still return for ambiance and coffee though:) I also like that it’s downtown and there is parking right in the front.

First off, the café design was spectacular. The pastries, macarons, the entremét cakes look gorgeous. The Avocado toast with the egg is simple but plating and the taste is wonderful. Their Sandwiches are great, I recommend the chicken. The other food items is just as good, amazing Omellette and eggs benedict( if you don't want the overcooked rubbery eggs you get elsewhere, this is where to go). My oh my, THEY HAVE BEST FRENCH TOAST!!!The presentation and the taste is just a PERFECT 10. AND THEY ARE COMPLETELY HALAL. Hopefully there are more seats as there is a bit of a wait. A little pricey but, absolutely worth it if you want quality. It is a café so don't expect the best service. But overall, Great Place

First, it is absolutely wonderful that a local cafe has replaced what was one of the most iconic Starbucks locations in Edmonton. Versailles is a welcome addition to the High Street area. It is a bit pricey but not that bad ($20 for two Americano’s and two croissants). The almond croissant I ordered was essentially raw in the middle but I still ate it given I enjoy raw dough. Others might not like it. Aside from being undercooked the pastries were good. Not Parisian cafe good, but they were enjoyed. The interior is a bit sterile. I hope they will add some decorative accents over time. The shelving behind the counter is bare and the furnishing minimal. But still very cute inside. I will return to enjoy coffee on their terrace. A recommendation for sure.

Went here for for breakfast today, ordered the scrambled egg croissant and it was out of this world delicious! After the scrambled egg croissant I could not get enough, went back again for lunch and ordered the Smoked salmon croissant and it just left me speechless, the presentation and the hard work that goes behind every item on their menu is 100% worth the price. Customer service was incredible, they keep you accommodated and wont rush you. Ive been to many food spots in YEG but this cafe for sure holds the golden medal overall

I was very excited to try this place after seeing it online but was unfortunately met with disappointment. I went with my Fiancée for brunch and after paying a premium (75$ for two eggs benedicts and 2 coffees), we were served a very mediocre meal. The benedicts were the smallest I have ever seen, and were in no way deserving of the premium price. The coffee was good, not great, and the interior atmosphere was tacky and run down already with visible damage to the walls and cheap uncomfortable furniture. Save yourself the disappointment and walk to any of the cafes that are within 3 blocks of this place for a better experience. I will not be back.

My wife and I along with her parents enjoyed an afternoon coffee and dessert. The cafe has a great ambiance and we were able get a table right away. The cafe can be busy at times. I enjoyed a London Fog along with a Blueberry Chocolate Scone. Both were great. The cafe was clean and well lit. The washroom was clean also. There is limited parking. When the weather is nice there is a great deck. I do have to say that the menu is pricey but there is quality there. We did have a good experience

I think even a 1 star is too much for this place. The lady was pretty rude to the point I almost walked out but I thought whatever I’ll give this place a try, when I asked her about the cinnamon bun she was so rude mumbling whatever they call it. I felt like she was trying to be fancy and she thought she was better then me while working at a $16 per hour job lol Also way too expensive, I don’t mind paying a premium for high end stuff but this was not good at all! You can literally go to Safeway for their off the rack pastries that blow this place out of the water. I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND

A really nice European cafe in Edmonton, I found it by accident. The coffee is fantastic and is higher quality compared to most chains, They also have strong wifi and comfortable seats! I ordered the eggs Benedict on smoked salmon and was happy with my meals. I sat here for a hew hours and noticed that Danielle (a woman working and training the staff) was so polite! I would come back here next time I am in Edmonton.

I very much liked it here. I loved the attention to the detail and uniqueness put into my drink and food and the uniqueness of the place. My sandwich, London Fog, and desert were delicious. However, my drink was more on the cooler side, which I usually prefer, but my London Fog was too cold for me. The staff advised for next time just to ask for extra hot. The staff were very busy but friendly when you asked a question or had a request.

As my partner & I entered the cafe, we were struck by two staff (newcomers) laughing and turning their backs. Not sure what is so funny about LGBTQ members coming to support your business, but the staff working the morning of August 17,2023 weren’t welcoming. Food was great, but staff need to be more inclusive & welcoming to 2SLGBTQ customers.

What piqued my interest were the beautiful desserts, but our favourite ended up being the seafood benedict served on a croissant. The little side dishes, that came with it, were also delicious. The cafe was bustling, so we shared a table with another party, and it ended up being a pretty wholesome experience enjoying our meals together.

Way too expensive for what they serve. Same at other French cafes in Edmonton for a lot less. Their cakes and croissants etc are really small for the price! From cake to drinks, everything is overpriced. Service is good. Cafe is big and seating is very comfortable. Location is great. parking lot with lots of space. Easy to access. I would not go back unless they readjust their prices. There's so much competition in Edmonton when it comes to French cafes now.

  • RickD W

We dropped in at noon on their second day of opening. We ordered a couple of americano mistos, a chicken sandwich along with a roasted vegetable sandwich. Both were a very soft brioche bun. As the inside is not available yet we enjoyed the outside patio. What a treat to back in High Street enjoying a great cup of coffee. Several pasties also available. Well worth the visit!! The staff is very friendly & excited to be open. Worth the wait!

  • path2discover

Beautiful cafe with friendly service. I went early with my sisters and Mom, we liked it here. Food portion is small and dishes were interesting. I couldn't really taste the cheese on my avocado toast and I found it too sweet with the honey drizzled over. Nonetheless, I'm willing to come back because of how gorgeous it is and for the coffee. The ladies at the till were wonderful too. I will try the other dishes next time around as well.

  • Ivo Nedev

We visited on a late Sunday afternoon. The deserts were very tasty, and the coffee was good. It's an expensive place in a nice setting in general. Better than most Edmonton cafes. But, service was on the slow end of the spectrum, and they need to do a much better job at cleaning up the sitting area to justify these prices.

Absolute love. Their staff are so lovely. We sat indoors but you can choose to sit outdoors. You will need to order at the counter though, I chose the lobster and crab benedict, friend chose avo toast. Food was FANTASTIC. Vibes were FANTASTIC. COFFEE WAS EXCELLENT. the dessert were moderate tbh, but the experience was great, we were there 3 hrs and only left cause parking maxed out lol. Will be back!

Food is amazing and they have one of the lattes in the city. The pricing for the pastries, however, is quite high. They taste great but not worth $13 a piece. When I saw the total amount for a handful of pastries, a sandwich, and two coffees add up to $76, my heart cried out a little. Lol

Had the most incredible experience at this cafe. This is exactly what High Street needs. Beautiful space, great atmosphere, quality food. I had the pleasure of meeting the owners too. Truly amazing people. Very helpful, hospitable and kind. If you have the appreciation for the French patisserie, this is your place. Will definitely be going back. Highly recommend.

First visit to shop. The place has nice decor. The cashier shown a lacklustre attitude but did serve a nice latte. The cheese croissant was a disappointment as it was hard, tasted days old and for the price of almost $6 I was not impressed. I’ll go back for a latte but not the pastries.

This place is rather showy without a great deliver. There is a clean elegance in decor and expensive pastries but the drinks miss the mark. The staff aren’t very engaging either. An average place in my opinion, no wow factor. I also wish they would do something with their giant empty white wall as soon as you come in. It makes the place feel so sterile.

Terrible. All disposable vessels despite eating in. Why can’t they offer a better experience with real dishes? At the very least it would be more environmental. I said no cream in the coffee but they don’t even fill it up, leaving lots of space in the cup. Not coming back. To their credit the pastry was good. Coffee was nothing special.

I've been to Cafe Versailles many times and am always impressed with the quality of service and products. I visit here frequently (often on my morning commute) and will continue to do so as well as introduce Cafe Versailles to others. Thank you for always being bright an cheery, even when I come at 7am :) Great location with a patio!

Why is this place still so unfinished since it opened? Will the fireplace ever be finished or at the very least appear to be finished? No art on the walls or anything? It's very strange. I live in Glenora and one of my neighbours won't go because he says it's so ghetto. Time to create a nicer environment for your customers! More

The site is fantastic, theres a shaded patio in a great location of town. The tea, a teabag in a mug was $4.10. Hot water and a teabag. All pastries cost more than a loaf of bread. Cant recommend this place due to price, cant not recommend as i really didn't try a food item.

Another excellent cafe for Edmonton. Great makeover of a former Starbucks. Big floor to ceiling windows have transformed the indoor space, making it light and airy. So even if there's no room on the patio, it feels close to being outside.

Very cute cafe. Very nice desserts and the London Fog was pretty decent. Amazing location. High street is beautiful. A mix of old and new. The decor is super stylish.

My dessert and my coffee was so good. And the atmosphere was so soothing and relaxing. Good for reading a book and drinking your coffee. Nice and quiet.

Beautiful little French patisserie. All pastries made in house and their espresso is lovely too! Perfect stop when you're shopping on high street!

The treats that I bought were old. Not very impressed, especially since I paid a hefty price for them. I will not go back

Almond croissants were nice and flakey, latte was just ok. Service wasn't great, slow even though the place seemed dead. Some seating available inside if you do want to enjoy your coffee at the cafe.

Good vibes but an even better coconut macaroon & flat white with oat milk! The staff worked hard this Family Day & crushed it during a very busy day! Always enjoy our treats from Cafe Versailles.

The place was aesthetically pleasing but I found the food ok. I still would recommend Duchess or Chocorrant if you are in the area.

Such a beautiful place. The drinks and the pastries are delicious. Will definitely be back. If I could give more than 5 stars I would …

Macarons are crumbly and gummy, the filling was good. The espresso is just bitter. Beautiful atmosphere but the quality is not there More

Honestly this place is cute. The service is great and the coffee is spectacular. Yes, a little pricey but worth it.
