"I usually never write reviews, but this place was awful with how I was treated, especially for a first-time customer"
"Kicked out for no apparent reason"
Place has amazing atmosphere. Very nicely set up and decorated. However, the coffee and hospitality are terrible. The first time I was there, I ordered a regular coffee and I couldnt even finish it. I’m not a picky guy, I drink deli coffee and Starbucks and everything in between and I never had to THROW IT OUT. Tried it again weeks later to see if maybe I just got a bad batch or something? But no, that was bad too. I tried it a thrice time weeks later but I ordered a “specialty” drink instead of a basic coffee and even that was terrible. Recently, I went in there to have a tea and get some work done on my computer. I thought to myself “they can’t mess up a tea” and that was true. Tea was fine however, their top priority was to kick people out to make room for incoming customers. I’ve worked in the food industry and I can empathize with not having enough tables and chairs but I’ve NEVER seen an establishment imply that you need to leave. Not only that but the place was at capacity and they were asking new walk-ins if they wanted to sit and gave them a wait time. ITS A COFFEE SHOP!! This is definitely the worst coffee shop in bay ridge, maybe even in Brooklyn and I will go ANYWHERE else from now on. Oh and my medium tea was over $4!!! Just to get politely pushed out
A big disappointment. I’m recently moving to Bay Ridge and I thought I could be a regular for this coffee shop because the atmosphere looked nice and checked out today but there are 3 reasons why I won’t go there again: 1) I ordered a latte and their espresso is the worst one I’ve ever tasted in my entire life. They should change their coffee beans or check the espresso machine. (I’m a professional barista so I can easily tell that there is something wrong about it. You can tell this even from the color. And you can see the other people’s reviews about this issue. 2) Extremely pricey. I know the coffee shop prices and a small regular iced latte shouldn’t be $7 in a local coffee shop in Bay Ridge. 3) This one is the most important reason: Workers seemed very aggressive and not welcoming at all. I said good morning and one of them didn’t even respond to me. That one (with glasses) was acting very rudely for no reason. I asked her is there any garbage bin there (I didn’t want to leave my stuff on the table) she rolled her eyes and didn’t even speak and just pointed at the bin. (Maybe racist or hates her job in general) I gave them a tip 30% but I regret. I ordered here on Tuesday 8/15/23 at 9:15 am. This is going to be my last time there. Not recommended.
Giving this place a one star review because of their professionalism. Employee’s operate with their face masks either completely off or under their nose. My friend and I only realized this AFTER we started consuming our orders. Kept seeing one woman always taking it off behind counter and putting it back on when walking to a table. A male entered the premises after I ate half my panini and with NO MASK ON, went behind the counter, touched everything, operated the coffee machine and even laughed in my face after I commented to a waitress about it. Apparently “We cant tell him what to do” was her response. Oh okay, sure; that’s nice. Let me make it very clear this establishment lost my business. I take this virus very seriously for myself, my mother, my family, and to see an establishment, which serves food, not practicing social distant safe practices is super off putting. I think what is more disappointing is the interior is really nice and warm and the food was good but that means nothing when my health is in jeopardy. I lost my appetite upon learning the Corona virus may be lurking behind the counter and encourage avoiding at all cost
I usually never write reviews, but this place was awful with how I was treated, especially for a first-time customer. I came in to study, since I have been looking for places to complete my work and a friend recommended I come here. The old woman at the register was not so nice when taking my order and literally stepped out of the register while taking my order to help another person out. Okay? My order was placed, but I was not asked if I was dining in or taking out since when I sat down she came up to me and told me I had to leave because it was “for waitress service only”. I was NEVER asked in the first place and I asked for a refund. She refused to and claimed she did not know how to and claimed she did ask me if it was to stay or to go. I looked around me and saw several customers doing their work and I was very upset and walked out (and did not get the refund). I would not recommend coming here, unless if you wanted to be treated horribly by the staff.

Kicked out for no apparent reason. Brought my friend and sister here for coffee, and after less than 10 minutes of sitting down, a worker approached us, “Hey, we wanted to let you know because you ordered these coffees to-go, we can’t have you sit here.” If this was store policy, why didn’t you guys seat us at the entrance of store? Truly disorganized. When I ordered my coffee, I was not asked if it would be to-go or to stay. We did not cause a ruckus or a scene, so I was genuinely curious as to why we were targeted. I asked if this table in particular was reserved to which the worker replied, “No, but we have people waiting to sit down.” Haha they can wait for other tables then, lady. Now, I won’t jump to conclusions to say this is about race since we were all Asian, but we felt unwelcome and very uncomfortable. Also—the coffee was mediocre for $8 a cup! Take my advice and avoid this cafe.

I don't recommend it. been going there for years, but now enough is enough. The place itself is kind on nice and Europe like, the coffee is more expensive and service sometimes is really bad. The tipping point was that i was told to not put the laptop in the table. For this time and age where we don't have much time and everything is online it make sense to have it and use it to relax "paper equivalent from the decades ago". The silent understanding was that the prices were high but you could spend an hour or so in a calm and quite place. if i want to go and just get the coffee i can go anywhere including Starbucks etc... Bottom line they shoot themselves on the foot. You cannot have it both ways, in the end is my money and i spend it as i like. In this case i choose to go somewhere else. its a pity as it was not like this before but things change and i don't see myself as one of their customers anymore.
I did not encounter any of the rudeness that many of the reviews have mentioned. When my family and I went, we ordered a Frutta di Bosco, a Monte Crisco panini, 2 Italiano paninis, and 1 Francisco panini. The Frutta di Bosco was scrumptious and definitely the highlight of the meal. So good in fact that we ordered another one...which never arrived. My panini was so so. I spotted a bit of the pesto color, but I couldn’t taste it. Instead, the whole thing tasted sour, as if there was too much vinegar. Regardless, at least it was very filling. My mom couldn’t even finish the 2nd half. Overall, service was very slow. They only have 2 waitresses I think. When we asked for a box for doggie bag and for a check, we waited around for like 5-10 minutes. And as I mentioned earlier, the second fruit tart never came.
Super cute Cafe! Street parking for New York but I love how cute it is inside and the staff was really friendly! I stopped by to grab stuff to eat and some coffee. We had the specials - Serendipity and Super Blue. I asked for them to be less sweet but both were absolutely delicious. I ordered the Ham and Cheese Croissant and the Panini (The Portino? I can't quite remember). Both were delicious! I definitely recommend coming here. The desserts and baked goods look really good too!. The two lattes and sandwiches and the Crumb cake was about $33. The sandwiches also came with chips. Will be coming back!

Caffè Café is a nice local shop in Bay Ridge to just grab a little bite or coffee! Their coffee blend is rich with flavor, especially the Almond Nut Latte with Almond Milk. The café features a cozy interior atmosphere (1 hour limit inside) with outdoor seating alongside the place and at the curbside. I think that the barista crew were great and pretty kind! Would definitely recommend for a chill small hangout, a date, or just to get some work & studying done! I will be coming back again!

Took forever then 8 family members of Aunt Mary who basically works there went to a reserved table which only fit like 5 people so the others decided to stand on top of us and basically kicked us out of the table that the waitress sat us in. We had to move ourselves to a new table. Everything took forever. DO NOT GO AND DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY. THE only good part was the waitress kept apologizing. I only know the name Aunt Mary because one of the people said her name. And they moved all the chairs to make themselves comfortable not caring about me and my family sitting down.

Avoid!! The staff and food decent enough but the owner was one of the rudest and most inhospitable ever! She began cleaning the garbage cans outdoors next to our table with no warning, no apology, or offer to move us. The stench of the garbage was bad enough and unappetizing but then the cleaning fluids were overwhelming. We had to move ourselves to other tables including two groups with small infants who couldn't tolerate the smell. When asked why she couldn't alert us herself she just responded "if you don't like it leave." Don't worry will not be back!

Really rude employees that work here! They get all upset when THEY get your order wrong and they start yelling at you like its your fault. First time I went here they overcharge me for just a plain coffee. After they ignored me for a good 15 minutes while they talk to someone else.Second time I went there I get yelled at just because they made the coffee bad! The blonde lady just started cursing and calling me names. Like I didn't ask for water down coffee. I wouldnt recommend going here to be honest. They overcharge for everything and they are so rude to their customers!!
Horrendously rude owner. My friend and I sat in their outdoor seating this past week. She had a drink from another place. As soon as we sat down, he screamed in her face that we cannot bring a drink from another location. She explained that we just sat down and that we were going to order. He kept on being aggressive and rude by saying we had to leave. I am absolutely shaken by this experience and will never think of giving my money towards this place. Also, we are two visibly Muslim women and felt that his rage and rudeness may have been motivated by this.
I have stopped in before for an espresso break and the staff has always been friendly. Most recently, while walking from 59th Street, needed a pit stop and dropped by. The crew was all very accommodating and, after saying I was dining in, they suggested having a seat and they brought my food to the table. Ordered an iced chai latte and a pistachio muffin, and they were both tasty! Great place!

I just wish this place was a little bit better. It looks so quaint and nice to spend an afternoon doing work and sipping coffee, but it is difficult to find an outlet and the seats aren't super comfortable. There's also nothing drawing me to go here for a social event either. The coffee just isn't good enough to warrant the prices for their drinks and the small serving sizes. With a couple changes to their menu and the quality of the space, this could be a really amazing coffee shop.
Ordered a double espresso over ice in the morning for $4.25 , returned in the evening got the same drink and was charged $6.25. When i asked why? It was $ 2.00 extra for the cup and ice. No where in the world have i payed + $6 dollars for an espresso a complete robbery. That’s what you get for trying to support your local businesses. Here’s a tip go to Starbucks buy your drink, tip the baristas a dollar, and you’ll still leave with more money in your pocket.

Terrible customer service!!! The owners are very rude and do not respect the customers!!! The old man there is also very disrespectful and curses out their customers! This is not the way that you treat customers if you want customers !!! I am very disappointed in this. I spent so much money at this place and this is how they treat you. The coffee is not even that great!! Everyone gets kicked out at this place for no reason!!! Do not come and give your money to this place.
Terrible service! Owner of the caffe crazy lady with aggressive attitude. She said to me "get out of the Cafe" when I already ordered food and asked wifi password for my Mac, that didn't work, and when I said that I really need it because I need to finish my work she became crazy, started yelling at me! She said to me that me better to go to Starbucks! So in this case better never go there! I asked the refund. Never go there! Read reviews, I'm not only one who said that.
I paid almost 5 dollars for a stale, tough almond croissant that was worse than what you could find in a discount supermarket. The pastries and desserts seem to be poor quality. I was very surprised how many people were flocking to the overpriced coffee and abhorrent pastries, served atop sticky and wobbly tables with service best described as intermittent. I won't return.

Table service at a coffee shop was a really nice surprise! The music was a perfect volume (as someone who is hard of hearing, loud music causes all other sounds to disappear, meaning conversations are impossible). And the barista handled an irate customer - who had no reason to be so upset, it’s not a small shop’s fault that sometimes stock runs out - with aplomb. I’ll definitely be back when I’m in the area

Cute little cafe. The food and drinks are decent. The service is hit or miss. There were times when the waitress did not bring us the little bag of chips that is served with the sandwiches, and another time when my (teenager) child and their friend was asked by a waiter jokingly’ while leaving if they had actually paid, or if he will need to run after them. Not funny, just offensive and rude!

A staple in the area! Delicious warm drinks, and small treats that compliment the drinks really well. The smoothies are a little watery, but the flavor still tastes good. The people at the counter are very charismatic, I always leave here feeling like I had a pleasant experience, even if I just stopped in briefly.

Nice place with tradition,.. unfortunately under new management service is horrible including unprofessional behavior of waitresses and managers/owners. Today after ordering coffee, panini and studying for like 2 hours I was asked to leave because apparently I was sitting at the wrong table and didn't want to order anything else. Definitely won't come back to this place again.
I wanted to like this place. Coffee was ok…but $$$. Croissants were nasty. Worse then the corner bodega. Probably a few days old. Stale. Everything was expensive. To charge that much for a croissant you better make it fresh there. Save your money. Go somewhere else.

Owner can use a bit of interpersonal skills but I'm like equally anti social so this balances out very nicely. The lattes are good here. Very flavorful and you can tell that they take great care in the times they produce. For my tea drinkers, Apple Peach is the way to go, iced or hot. The desserts are standard but it pairs well with the variety of drinks available.

Terrible coffee and be aware they will charge you 1.50$ for that pump of caramel or vanilla syrup. Service was not as bad as the food. Sicilian panini had no prosciutto, ham felt rubbery and not fresh. No arugula as well. My girlfriend and I barely touched that panini, even though we were hungry. Only good thing was the snickers cake.
Came here Friday with my mother — must say, I’m surprised by the low rating of this place. I found it quite lovely (it was clean, wide variety of beverages and foods, and most importantly, pleasant staff). Nevertheless, myself and mother enjoyed our cold beverages here on a warm spring day! My recommendation: give this cafe a try!
The Chai latte was prepared to perfection. Just the way I like it. The cranberry orange muffin was a little dry, but very tasty. The servers were very friendly and efficient. I would glady go back.

THE WORST PLACE! Very unprofessional owners! They make terrible coffee and they expect you to pay 7$ for water and milk. We asked for the coffee to be remade and they cursed at us and kicked us out. Rudest people you’ll ever encounter! What happened to good costumer service! I’m surprised this place is still open!
This place doesn't know how to treat their customers. They were very rude and disrespectful. This is not how you treat customers. The service is terrible. I have lots of patience, but this place really aggravated me. I regret wasting my money here and I don't recommend anyone to waste theirs. Avoid this place!!!

This place has very good coffee and nice place to sit and talk. Beutiful place for some queit time. But the Owmer needs a few classes in customer service and treating the employees with with bad attitudes infront of the customers and needs to learn to be nice and more polite towards the customers.
Coffee is okay, and this location is fairly priced. I ordered a French Press (given without a timer to indicate how long it needs to brew) and a Monte Christo (given also with no powdered sugar). Would i come back? If I'm in the neighborhood and there was no line. The store is super cute though.
The prices are a bit high but it's got a very nice atmosphere. Inside the mismatched chairs and tables make for a vintage home feel. They have outdoor seating too and a decent food menu. Their hazelnut coffee is to die for. If you get a brew you like, you can buy the beans and make it at home!

This place it's a joke! Three dollars for generic powdered swiss miss style hot chocolate! And served with an attitude. I'm sorry, but if one is going to have a mom and pop coffee business, everything needs to be homemade and original...or I might as well go to Starbucks.
I liked my lemonade and panini was good. Both baristas were nice and friendly. It seemed like they really care about the service. Reading the other reviews I was surprised actually. Hopefully the next time I’ll see baristas who served me today, they are super nice.

Meh. Food is edible. Caffe is cute. I was last here as part of an interview, so I had to be happy. Now that I'm paying for myself, not so much. Glad I ordered water to drink; there's a starbucks down the street where I'll go for coffee.
This is our go to café in Bay Ridge. Mary Ann has turned this place into a little slice of heaven. Whether you have your cappuccino outdoors or inside, it's the best! Service is wonderful. The pastries are delicious. I love this place!
Cozy, quiet and quaint. Get place to sit down and catch up on some work, however, if you do do that buy something. This is a local business and to keep them around buy some of their goods, I'm getting sick of looking at big businesses.

It is a really over priced and the coffee is not good. This is least of the problem. The owners have a very bad attitude towards their costumers. The old management was better.
Beautiful little cafe, with the best hot chocolate I have had in a long time. They have a wonderful amount of homemade treats, jams and candies to buy for gifts or yourself.
This caffe serves the best coffee. All the staff is fantastic. Prices are reasonable. You gotta try the waffles. Atmosphere is warm and friendly. Great place all year round
Loved the coffee, loved the atmosphere and especially loved Epiphany. Not only did she make amazing coffee but she was so sweet and kind. Service with a smile …
I am a long time resident of Bay Ridge and always walked by this place. I finally decided to go in and give it a try. Food is over priced and service was slooooow.
Unpleasant atmosphere. Not a cafe designed to do work in. Sometimes they won't even let you use your laptop. Only cafe that I've ever been to that has done that.
The owners are disrespectful!! They kick people out & let alone how rude they are, their coffee is discusting and over priced. 8$ for a coffee?! Unbelievable.
Excellent little coffee shop. The coffee is delicious. The staff is very nice. And the place is immaculately clean. A Mom and pop owned small local business.
Great little spot to check out if you are in Bay Ridge and need an inexpensive coffee or snack. Outdoor area is great and the staff is super friendly!
Perfect cafe, nice atmosphere, feels cosy and comfortable, cofee is great and owner and stuff are friendly and polite. My favorite place in Bay Ridge.
Atmosphere was super cute and muffin, paninis and French pressed coffee were all very good! Great date spot or for coffee and catch up with friends!
Can either sit outside or inside, always nice to have a place to relax and just enjoy your coffee. Staff is attentive and lovely lil cafe overall.
The staff was super friendly and were knowledgable about the coffees. My daughter goes there on occasion & loves the place and now I'm a fan also.
The place is fantastic, the music is relaxing but the old guy who serves after 19:00 in there is very un polite, very arrogant, and disrespectful
Horrible service. They like rushing costumers out while empty seats inside. Horrible!

The two people that took our order were so sweet. Very professional and even went out of their way to see that we had everything.
