I am a Canada computers customer who purchased a laptop 6 months or so roughly aswell as purchased a 3 year tech care warranty. I had brought my computer in due to physical damage that happened and they offered to ship it off to MSI to see if the manufacturer would cover it under warranty. They denied, and I am aware that Canada Computers does not cover accidental damage so they returned the laptop to me about a month later. Before I had gave it to them, the computers performance was at 100%. Just the display was not working, and there was damage to the physical computer. But if you plug it in to a hub to display to the monitor it was 100% working and in good performance. Upon receiving the computer back it was having an overheating issue, thermal throttling, so two days later I had gave it back to them to fix that issue, and 1-2 weeks later they had returned it to me with that issue fixed. Then I turned the computer back on and it was SEVERLY underperforming. Again before I originally handed it to them the computer was at 100%. A day after getting it back again I brought it back to them to look at it, they called me back in 5 days or so to let me know when they had sent it off originally to the manufacturer (which they actually sent it off to there head office as they are authorized to work on MSI equipment), they removed the battery which reset the bios. And because the display was not working they couldn't see the bios and there was nothing they could do to fix the computer. I had spoken to the store manager, he said "because we can not fix the computer because of the display not working we can not cover it under warranty". Again yes I know the display is accidental damage, but the performance issue is something THEY caused. Not only that according to the warranty I purchased, "If Canada Computers is unable to repair a product covered by Tech Care Repair, a replacement system will be provided. This replacement system will be of equal or greater manufacturer specifications, of any brand, new or refurbished." Which is something I was not even offered. Not only that they wasted a lot of my time and money bringing it to them 3 times and now gave me back a computer in worse condition then I gave it to them in. I have now contacted cooperate office. I would highly not recommend purchasing warranty because clearly they do not uphold it.
I came in with a motherboard return. I put everything back in the box. And there was a screw missing that I didn’t know about, because I never took it out to use. I assume the motherboard was already opened by the store to update the Ryzen 3000 compatible bios (crooked sticker on the box) so I wasn’t concerned and assume the store misplaced it. Now that the screw is missing, it’s my fault... I was also THREATENED with a “final sale” and no return when I slightly showed my frustration in my tone. In the end they cannot guarantee that the next person to check it will have the same requirements of items in the box even if I bring back the screw. I had to go all the way from Orleans because that location didn’t allow in store returns. Now I have to make the same trip across the city again. Edit: I came back the next day with the missing screw (taken from another board) and the same customer service rep had the audacity to tell me that I was missing a screw stand-off. 2 facts were already established: I was told that I was only missing a screw, even asking them to double check what I’m missing, and secondly the box was opened upon purchase because it was a RMA product that was sold to me as “new”. Still they refused to have the reasoning that the product may have lost those items due to the previous customer misplacing them or the manufacturer forgetting to put it back in the box. It took a manager to be able to confirm this type of logic, wasting my time twice and needlessly spending my patience.
Dealing with this location has taken on a nightmare-ish quality. First Tuesday Dec 22nd I was attempting to reach them all day long to inquire about a product they had in stock. Sat on hold for 30 minutes twice. Never spoke with anyone. I made it to the store and successfully purchased the components I was seeking. Then on Monday Dec 28th. I returned to the store as there was an issue with the components. My newly built PC was not booting to BIOS. I was confident in the build and believed it must be one of the components. The manger was not in any helpful. They were also not wearing a mask. They refused to offer solutions and finally when fed up my partner said 'we'll just package everything up and return it' the manger responded with 'fine.' $700.00 worth of components. So, not (I assume) a small sale. I'll note that the manager also didn't mention any re-stocking fee. (Which I'm certain they must charge.) Ultimately we solved the problem on our own. But part of what you pay for at a place like CC is the knowledge and expertise. (Such as it is.) And while a lockdown can make things more complicated it shouldn't be difficult for the manger to get a tech on the phone with us and try to talk us through it. I'll never shop at this location again and I can't imagine many circumstances under which I'll return to any Canada Computers.
Had a very frightening experience today. Bought a new and very expensive graphics card which I brought home and installed only to have my system start smoking immediately on power-up. I panicked. I was lucky enough to have brought my system to this particular location and fortunate enough to have been helped by an extremely patient tech wizard named Jake. He was somehow able to decipher my frustrated series of grunts and hand gestures, the ability to speak having left me completely. Rather than taking my information and escorting me out of the store as most god-fearing people would have, he took some time to look my little mess over and properly diagnose the problem. He saved me time, money and several handfuls of hair. He is a deeply compassionate and capable human being. May the heavens and management favor him in equal measure. (I had connected my LianLi strimer plus hub to my mobo via a second 5v argb hub; Both were connected to sata cables... The small wire between the lianli hub and second hub overheated and fried the moment I powered up. Noob mistake, learning experience. Very grateful for Jake's time, attention and patience. I also appreciate that his work environment allows for him to take a few minutes to help a panicked neophyte like myself. Will be coming here to buy components and for service in the future.)
I usually try to avoid Canada Computers for my pc problems but was desperate this time around because my old pc had a bunch of issues. I would like to give a huge shoutout to Lawson, Sara and Mark! I called beforehand asking the repair centre if I could drop by to have my pc run a diagnostic and to see if one PC was in stock. Sara was extremely helpful and friendly on the phone and in-person. I could see that Mark who probably goes unseen behind-the-scenes fixing and building custom desktops that he is super dedicated and attentive to his work. Shortly after, Lawson approached me asking if I needed any help, and I asked him about the PC I had in mind. He suggested I build a custom desktop, which I had no idea they offered and although I did spend more, the value was 100x better than what I was originally going to get. As someone who knows nothing about parts, Lawson was extremely patient with my millions of questions. He also took the time to ensure the parts he was adding to the custom build were under budget after tax and warranty. Additionally, I had asked for RGB parts, where he also went out of his way to ensure it was included. These three people had changed my previous experiences at Canada Computers, and I will definitely be coming back! If you are looking for upgrades or a new build I highly recommend Lawson :)
do not waste your time, spend your money here or support this scam of an establishment, especially if you aren't knowledgeable in computers. they will scam you without any sort of compassion, its like supporting a small business that has corporate greed. my open box monitor was not properly checked and it has now cost me $500 because EMPLOYEE RYLAND does not properly check the panel, he took one look and said it was "beautiful" and didnt even take 3 seconds of effort to turn it on where he would've promptly seen the dead pixel which was the reason i was returning it. if they make it seem that the "protection" is like a no questions asked policy and you can return it for any reason, DO NOT BELIEVE THEM because the protection will not protect you against anything, thats just their wording and probably training. they will find any reason to make sure that you cant return it, and the manager is extremely unhelpful and condescending, the way he speaks to his customers absolutely disgusted me. my suggestion for anyone reading this is to look at their low prices, and march yourself over to best buy who has a price match guarantee. if youre spending a significant amount of money here document EVERYTHING so they can't scam you later on when the product they sell inevitably becomes defective.

Bought an MSI laptop for over 1,000$ for a birthday gift. Within 4 days the computer screen hinges broke seemingly a manufacturer issue. We were very gentle with it and honestly did nothing wrong and it did not drop. I brought it back to the Canadian computers store and they straight up told me since it's physical damage the don't do anything about it. No exchanges no refunds. Because I had purchased it over 30 days prior and it sat in a box then was removed from the box and within 4 days the hinges we broken. The service desk staff were extremely dismissive and rude. The manager was called just to come over and say "nothing we can do" and walked away. Horrible service. HORRIBLE way to handle a situation. People drop money on these laptops and deserve to be treated better than that. I wrote them an email to discuss my frustrations and the general manager wrote me back and said he rejects the request to discuss!!!! They claim to have "world class customer service" but never in my life have I been treated so disrespectfully from a company. Would have been better off buying a used laptop off Kijiji.
Wow...I'd give a zero star if I could. My son is going back to university this fall and decided to drop some cash on a new home computer. Told the sales rep that he didn't know really anything about it just wanted to build something good for school and a little gaming. I won't mention the reps name maybe he had an off day. My son dropped 1500 dollars and got a computer that had no ability to connect to the wifi internet...had to go back to the store to purchase extra parts. Sandra the manager was unapologetic ...could care less...no apology no discount on the parts needed ..nothing. We took your money now screw off we don't care you're upset we just don't care!!! Reshahb took the time to get some more parts and look over the build for other obvious screw ups. Thank-you. So full price parts no apology and an attitude from Sandra that couldn't care less. If u have money to spend on computer parts u might want to reconsider going here...try another store best buy, Dell... ... Everyone is saying buy local...well local better get it together if they want to survive.
Went in with my son and a shopping list in hand to purchase parts for his first computer. Chose Canada Computers (Merivale) in Ottawa specifically because they had everything in stock. The problem started a few minutes after arriving, when my 11 year old son told me had to use the washroom. This wasn’t surprising because we drove almost 2 hours to get there. Upon asking an employee though, he promptly told us he would not allow him to use the bathroom. He didn't have to say another word and we left that very minute and went to Memory Express about 5 blocks away, just down the street. We walked in, were shown to the washroom and 10 minutes later we had our entire shopping list filled with only a few items outstanding that are being shipped to our place. They matched prices (had no idea!) and so it actually ended up costing us less at Memory Express than at Canada Computers. Canada Computers has a terrible reputation online for customer service and we experienced it today. I guess the employees prefer a private toilet there. They can keep it as we won’t be back.
I had a really negative experience at this location: I placed an order for an item that the website had ensured me was in stock. I then received an email notifying me I had to purchase the demo model or cancel my order. I needed the item urgently so I went to the store to pick up the item. I was given the device in a ripped plastic bag with the manual and cords thrown in. I was told they were not going to compensate me or discount the item in any way, despite it being not retail-ready. When I informed them the website ensured me they more than one item in stock, they said that was a system error ("something they screwed up, mot me") and yet would still do absolutely nothing to assist me. The item did end up having missing parts and I do not have the energy to return this item and deal with the sub-optimal service once again. I hope measures are put in place to back the consumer when your company fails them, opposed to ripping them off and leaving them short-changed.
VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Was going to order a graphics card online for my sons computer. The price was listed as $369.99. When I got to checkout it said that the price was "To be determined". Since I did not want to get charged a crazy price, I called store to find out what was going on. Waited on hold for 30 minutes the first time, so I hung up and called back. Sales person said he did not know why my online order was telling me that and that the price was indeed $369.99. I asked if I could pay over the phone or he could hold it for me and he said no. I told him I would try to complete the order online. I was not able to, so I called back again. Asked again if I could pay over the phone or he could hold he said no. He told me to come to the store. Drove all the way to the store and he told me he had already sold it. Honestly, my hope is that Bestbuy starts carrying more computer products. There service is much better.
Every time I go to Canada computers it has been the best service, advice and price by far. Some may know more than others in the store but will usually get the person with the best knowledge in that area to also help on the decision. I am currently starting a build and a lot of my choices have been due to advice from the staff. I will be torn from two items and they will completely assure me that one is better than the other. Price is amazing especially for a cable or something as simple like that. A 50ft 3.5 audio cable 20$ whilst at the source i believe it is 20$ for 20ft. Great store, amazing products and knowledgeable staff. The only down side is when its busy you can be waiting a while for some help. This would be the case as a lot of time is spent on each customer. If they are busy serving its understandable but if they aren't doing anything and I'm waiting around that would be another story. Absolutely recommend.
Never trust those guys when they tell their lies to compel you to buy their extended warranty which does not cover replacing laptop batteries. At time of warranty claim, all their lies will wash off. Ask for their promises to be put down in writing. My laptop needed service to replace the noisy fans. They broke the motherboard while trying to fix the fans and ended up ordering a mother board also. My laptop had to be kept with them for almost a month, when their initial estimated service completion was 3-5 business days. They hire incompetent technicians who break something while trying to fix something else and when they return the laptop after service we noticed some loose screws which we requested having them tightened. I suggest to take your business elsewhere. If not, check their rating on Better Business Bureau.
Bought an item and was told I had two weeks to return it. I went later within the 2 week period to return the item because it was not what I needed. I was refused due to the item being deemed non refundable. This fact was not stated on the receipt for my specific purchase, and was not explained at the time of sale... in fact the cashier circled the date and noted I had two weeks afterward to return it. Also, my interaction with the manager was unacceptable. He was condescending and unsympathetic. 1. I should have been told the item was non refundable, but was told the opposite. 2. Don't talk down to clients. I'm sorry to say that my loyalty has be severed, and unfortunately my money will go elsewhere. I still have the receipt, and the item is still in the box if you want to do right Canada Computers.
Good prices at this store. Depending on which staff member you get, their performance and knowledge vary. It's usually younger staff, so you either get the smart geeks that know what they are talking about, or you get the arrogant ones that think they know what they're talking about but don't have the right answer and almost argue with you. I am a very advanced computer tech person, and I find in generally, the women in this store know exactly what they're talking about or admit when they don't know something so I tend to stick with them over the young guys. None of the staff understand the history of computers unfortunately so they know what they have in stock, but if it's a more advanced question, the fundamentals are often not understood. Overall, the store is cheap and the service is good enough.
I had excellent service today from the young man at the front of your store. Almost everyone waiting was very understanding of the new rules that require everyone to stand in line outside before getting served. Unfortunately one gentleman felt the rules didn't apply to him and tried cutting the line after waiting in his car while the rest of us waited in the cold. Your employee rightfully told him that he had to wait in line to be served but this one customer felt he should've been allowed to cut the line. After your employee refused to let him cut the line, this individual said he was going to complain. I'm writing this review to set the record straight as I don't want him to get in trouble over nothing. He was making sure it was fair for everyone following the rules that were very clearly laid out.
Decent prices, great selection, helpful staff. My go to place for anything computer or electronics related. Update: Place has really gone downhill as far as customer service is concerned. My last visit was to pick up a hard drive that was on sale. They still had a few in stock, but when I got to the cash with it was told they would not sell it to me. Too many online orders I was told. They did offer to order me in one,(?) but it wouldn't be at the sale price, but full price. (Seems like a really bad store policy to take products out of the hands of in-person retail customers to reserve that product for online customers?? Really??!) I took the time to drive to their store and was going to pay in cash for a product that they clearly had in stock but basically told they didn't want my business. Unreal!
They’re not even worth 1 star!! We bought from them brand new Asus for 1500 dollars! From the first day it’s doesn’t work well! We came to the shop before the 30 days! We showed them videos with that the computer not works well! They said that there is cosmetic damage but we pretty sure it came like this because the computer is new! Then they checked and said the computer is working properly. Which is not true because it still not working properly and we have videos even after they check and we came back home! We don’t ask for money back or exchange for another brand! We just ask for the same brand just computer that works and worth our investment! Abdul was nice guy! But the manager so rude and she doesn’t even care!! Anyway be aware where you buying your next computer.
By far the best Canada Computers service you will get, even if it's a far drive away. I live downtown and prioritize shopping here over the Centretown location. I bought a case which was too small for my components, and they processed the return without hassle, even if it was open box. They also helped me pick out a more suitable case. I point this out because apparently CC's policies vary by store/manager, so if you direct your business anywhere, this one is one of the best in terms of customer service and kindness. I'm also new to computer building and each time I went their staff were extremely helpful and do not make me feel stupid if I don't understand things. So far everyone I know has had a positive experience here, I would highly recommend it.
After having purchased a problematic open box laptop at a different canada computers location, I tried to return the laptop here. Right away, Sara S. was professional and knowledgeable, quickly explaining why there may be an issue returning the item. She then offered to have her manager come talk to me about returning the item. The manager patiently and logically explained why he would not be able to return the item at this location. However, he also recommended who to talk to at the original location, and between the two of them gave me the information I needed to talk to the original store management. Thankfully I was able to return the laptop, but needless to say I was very impressed by the customer service I received at the Merivale location.
On two occasions I had extremely negative experiences trying to return products. The latest of which, I had bought headphones only two hours previously only to realize the plug was usb, which won't work on my son's game console. I had to buy online, as per their policy, and the images didn't show the plug. They refused to accept "for hygiene reasons" which I get if they had actually been used, but I was just in the store and as I said they couldn't be used. The dude was really rude about it too. I used to like this store for its prices too, but during the same trip I had picked up a micro-SD card, which I found across the street for 2/3 the price ($39 vs $26). I think they've just become too successful, because the store used to be great.
Horrible after-sale customer service. I bought a video card from them since mine died and needed one asap. I asked if they could test it to make sure it worked before leaving the store and told no they were busy but not to worry if anything is wrong they will exchange it. So I drove back home and sure enough, the card is not working. Drive back to the store to be greeted by an employ telling me no refunds or exchanges until Tue. Tried to explain what happened he kept cutting me off repeating come back Tuesday a few times then turns his back and leaves as I am trying to ask him if I can just buy a second card and return this one later. Last time I ever buy anything from this store. The lack of respect they show to customers is horrible.
How are they VERY tricky? You say yourself you understand the policy CLEARLY states "all original items and packaging. You say you are missing 2 screws. you expect them to take it back and what? sell it to someone else saying sorry its missing screws? Don't lose stuff and retailers take it back that's how it works. Mathew Newcombe 8 reviews 3 months ago Be careful, they are very tricky with their return policy. Even when the cashier tells you they are easy going, don't believe them. Also refused a return because I was missing 2 tiny screws that I never used. I understand the policy states clearly all original items and packaging but this is just one more reason to shop at amazon.
I sent 2K plus including service plan on desktop MSI trident 3 ...System updated to windows 11 patched rebooted and it never came back. Stuck in a loop. Brought it back and the tech was completely uncommunicative. Barely spoke a word to me ..."No sorry for the inconvenience" No "Ok sir let me check that out." ...Nothing just slowly plugged it in and confirmed the problem was as described. That i have no problem with but if you are dealing with the public you should , no matter how close to end of shift you are , be able to be polite. Either train your staff or put them in a back room so they don't have to interact with the public. Refunded the whole purchase.
Return process is terrible! One hour after placing the order on Jul 21 I contacted customer service to cancel the order as I realized the product I ordered was incorrect. I was told I couldn’t cancel the order, had to wait for it to be delivered, and then request a return-a complete waste of resources. In any case, waited for it to be delivered (I give 2 stars only because the item arrived quickly) and I sent it back right away. PC received it on July 30 however I till have not received a refund because they said it takes 2-4 weeks from receipt to process…for this experience alone I would never again order from them, in case I needed to return something
Its to bad i had to give these guys 1 star to leave a rating. Went to purchase a tablet today. Only sevice i got is when i asked where the tablets were and the staff replied, over there. Went over to the tablets and was looking at the selection . 4 to 6 people behind the cabinets where they were located. I was looking at the tablets through the glass case for about 10 minutes. Not 1 staff asked if i needed any help. I have been to this location before in the past and the customer service completely sucked. At least this time they pointed me in some direction. Will never go back. Worst customer service i have ever had.
I placed an order for pick up to grab some RAM they have in stock. 1 hour and counting still haven't got confirmation that the item sitting right behind the counter is ready for me to pick up. But its okay though the sit stand desk my wife ordered for pick up was ready in a half hour. The guy outside the store couldn't even see my order ether. I just got a shrug from him. I was told to come back tomorrow.... we ordered our stuff at the same time and I can't believe it would take someone literally 18 hours to grab an item from a shelf. Definitely not going back and wouldn't recommend anyone else does
I will never buy a product from here again. I purchased shockz bone conduction product in the morning, i open it and it doesn't fit, i bring it back and im told no exchange for a different model or returns. The manager was extremely rude and could care less and acted like im wasting their time to ask for an exchange for an unused product purchased a few hours ago that doesn't fit. Terrible business model. Stay away!! They are not even cheaper Every other business like best Buy, Walmart, Costco all allow you to return or exchange but this company feels like its their job to bully clients.
If I can give them less than one star I would love too. I did order online which was on sale then I went for pick up the nextday, the manager said it's not on sale anymore and he has to charge me the real price! They have no option to pay online, but I have the order number and the email says everything about my order. I ordered four tablets one of them was in other location in downtown they did the same thing charge me extra for one of them and I didn't expect that so they had to do refund but mad me wait for half an hour to do so. What bad service.
I was served by two knowledgeable people within the last week. I thought I had a RAM issue and was sold the RAM and was told that the processor was likely not powerful enough for my needs. They were correct, and I had to go back and purchase a computer. The other person who served me agreed about the processor being too weak. I explained what my needs were and was sold a replacement computer that does everything I need it to with no issues for the past week. Thank you for having knowledgeable staff on hand to help and suggest appropriate solutions to my issues.
There are many parts and is basically a nerds dream inside of this establishment! If there is a part you need, the knowledge and pure retention of information on ANYTHING computer-related is remarkable (I've graduated with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, and I'm always learning new things with each and every interaction I have! Very clean and we'll merchandised location with great staff, although video card prices are off the rails, but no blame is placed upon these hard working individuals! Seriously, thank you and keep up the fantastic service!
Went in to process a return after purchasing something during the pandemic, the store policy is 15 days for electronics but was hoping for some understanding as this is a world pandemic which is new to us given the circumstances that no one should leave their homes. In return the manager was rude and simply stated “we don’t do rentals here, it’s been 1month” which was a shock to hear that from a manager. I do understand store policy but there is also customer service which This store does lack. definintaly won’t be making any purchases here again.
I wish I had read these reviews before I went in to buy something? Horrid customer service experience. The customer is definitely wrong at this store. I implore you to record your conversation. They will lie and cheat you if anything goes wrong. Even if an employee person admits to an error the supervisor will ignore it and blame it all on you. They have a strict no return policy and will do anything to not give you your money back. Trust me it would be better to shop at well know retailers that respect their customers. You've been warned.
Purchased the majority of my PC at this location and couldnt have been more overwhelmed with the service. First off my mother went in before Christmas to do research on my computer build without my knowledge and she was given incredible service from Chris. Then when we went there on boxing day to buy the parts they were super helpful! Since I bought a couple more items from them and also have contacted corporate to get a duplicate receipt for one item and they are always top notch. Well done! I highly recommend this store to everyone!
The people working here are absolutely professionals and with knowledge of their products that is rare to see these days. From my interactions in the store, most recently just the other day, I've learned that they really will find what you need and not oversell, which is again - rare. Having said that, you can tell that they have been hired for their tech knowledge and maybe not so much for customer relations which might suffer a bit, but I still highly recommend this place and I will keep throw business their way.
Told them I wanted a cheaper gaming pc that could play majority of new releases that wouldn’t break my bank and they did just that! My PC has been awesome and the guy that served me was knowledgeable and informative. He knew what he was talking about and didn’t try and sell me a $2000 computer lol! I also bought an LG monitor here that came damaged. They instantly contacted LG and got us our money back. So I purchased another monitor, gaming chair, keyboard/ mouse and headset here and all have been great!
Thank you to the staff at Canada Computers for their knowledge and help in finding the right products. Amazon has lost a permanent customer when it comes to ordering pc parts as I have had nothing but bad experiences when ordering parts that were advertised as new that were definitely not new. Canada Computers has products at similar if not better prices than Amazon. Thank you to Corey⭐, Lawson, Aiden and Sara S for their incredible customer service! Canada Computers has made a new permanent customer!!
Our experience was very good. The two of us had a number of unexpected computer difficulties that needed to be sorted out in the same day. We spoke to three employees about our problems and each one suggested a less costly option for our needs and took the time to offer concise, intelligent alternatives to what we were planning to implement. We were out in less than 20 minutes and we're able to salvage the rest of the working day. Will definitely keep them in the feont of my mind for next purchase.
It is such a pleasant experience walking into this store. The staff are polite and offer insights where appropriate without trying to upsell more expensive products. And the best part is that they're actually cheaper on most products than that big online shopping platform! The one thing that was slightly more expensive was their RAM modules, but overall I saved about $80 and didn't have to wait to receive what I wanted. Big thumbs up, this is the ONLY place I will buy my PC components from now on!
Ordered some RAM and a motherboard online because the deal was good. Email said I had five days to pick it up. Show up on the fifth day to be told they cancelled my order that morning — nowhere in the documentation does it say it will be cancelled the morning of the 5th day. I didn’t even receive an email notification until the 6th day. And then I was told that they would not honour the sale even though they prematurely cancelled my order. Hard to understand that type of customer service.
Took them over 30 minutes to answer my call so I could retrieve my receipt that I threw out. I was on a support chat with a vendor and needed the information fast, but it took so long for someone to pick up I had to end the chat. They did end up giving me a copy of my receipt, after not being able to find it in their system, then calling me back in a couple minutes. It was fast when I had them on the phone, but the wait time was terrible. It still is a nice store with tons of parking.
I have been there 3 times in the last 2 months, and have spoke with sales and tech support via phone. I am so pleased with all the support I have been given and appreciate how they respect your budget while providing a great selection of products. So far, I have bought a laptop, monitor and some extra hubs ( after many small purchase over the years ), and am happy with warentees, return policies and customer service! Great store for the beginner all the way to the computer wiz!
They have everything you need as a techie. Whether you just want to get a mouse, a keyboard, or you're building and repairing computers and you need all your parts and stuff. If it's not in the store they can order it, but for every purchase I went to get something and store. They always had it in stock. Just maybe check the website first, and when you look at the items select the specific store so that you know it is in stock before you go out there. Prices are excellent.
Service is slow here with staff joking around a lot while customers are waiting. The staff had sold me a video card they received in a shipment which I saw later on that the sealing circle at the flap was tampered with and was no longer a new product. When I came back the next day to return the item and raise the issue, they assured me the product was brand new, and that I had opened it and used and would not be in a resaleable state. Will be taking my business elsewhere.
Went in with my absolute zero computer knowledge looking for a solution. Was lucky enough to be helped by a guy named Mark M. I let him know that I knew nothing, he assured me it was no problem and using analogies I understood , basic explanations and a really kind demeanour he walked me through and got me everything I needed. I’d highly recommend this store and if you have the chance try and see Mark M as he was so knowledgeable, kind and easy to work with.
Needed a new laptop and Canada Computers had some fantastic sales. Went to the one on Merivale. Like many large companies, I had to approach an employee for assistance which was a bit annoying. However, the employee really new his stuff and after describing what I was looking for, provided me with a laptop that suited my needs. Being an IT tech myself, I was pleased with the CC tech's advise and recommendation. Will definitely return. Loving my new laptop.
Went in to buy a Samsung G9 display. This is an extremely expensive monitor. Called and was told they had a new sealed one in stock (their words). Drove to the store and they tried to sell me the demo unit. They claimed they don't consider their in store demo unit to be an open box item since "its never left the store"... demo units usually run for thousands of hours and have thousands of peoples hands on them! This is FALSE ADVERTIZING!
Brought my computer in for an issue regarding crashing while using certain applications. Was told it was a motherboard issue as they swapped it and had no issue then. Bought mother board they recommended. Still exact same issue, if not worse. Did not even test the programs having issues instead they use benchmark testing software. Which any joe blow can download, install and test for free. Would not recommend this place for diagnostic.
"Minor manufacutring defect does not warrant a replacement" Sorry then what is the difference between a new item and a used item? Just buy second hand because these lads do not replace your item even if it looks it was used. To clarify, when you pay full price you shoud get a good product with no defect. If it has defects then it should be replaced. You dont get a new car and accept a dent on its door as "manufacturing defect" do you?
Super place to buy parts. Maybe the best place. I will NEVER buy a system here again. Decided to for my neice who goes to university away in town they have a shop. The computer came with drivers missing. It was a mess. Computer was over $2000 to buy and it was not built to standards at all. No effort to fix the mistake in a timely manner. I was shocked. It was completely different than buying parts there. I am quite sad actually....
Good selection of products. Good prices and if you find better price somewhere else they'll match. Polite staff always willing to help. I buy my computer stuff mainly from them as the big stores..oh sorry did I say that in plural? I meant the big store (Best Buy) after they bought out Future Shop, their customer support lacks more and more. Be supportive of small companies like Canada Computers so we can nourish competition.
I am not tech savvy in terms of selecting equipment, and I wanted a basic desktop set up that would be suitable for everyday use. The staff member (it said Corey on the receipt) helped me pick out the monitor, mouse, keyboard, and processor in full with their opinion and suggestions based on what I told them. I'm really happy with it after using it for a few days. I would definitely return back there for more suggestions.
I had a great experience during the COVID Crisis. I was able to place an order online, all the stock was secured and the contactless pickup was quick and easy. I required a bit more customer service, had some questions, even had to swap something and add an item but they treated me exceptionally well, despite the high-stress times we're living in. The lady and gentleman working on the morning of the 28th were fantastic!
They have quite a bit of selection here and competitive prices. I was a bit disappointed that an item I saw in stock online was actually an open box item. It would be nice to see that information online but I guess I should've waited for the pick-up notification/call since that information would've been provided. Also, I was told that they don't discount open box items unless they have some sort of defect/blemish.
I got almost all of my gaming PC parts here! The only one I got somewhere else was my GPU, but that was bought at the downtown location. Amazing staff with excellent knowledge! Great Covid-19 Precautions, and overall highly recommend! Only thing I would change is better instructions on online order and pickup as I've had only one small hiccup with it, otherwise best PC place to shop and get knowledge about parts!
Updated review from 2019. Phones never work or never picked up. Shelves are always empty and take forever to restock - this is not due to great pricing, rather buying power. Back to their old ways with returns or defective components - blame customer and take no ownership. Selling "new" items that are open box or display. Management is in need of new and better training - specifically the store manager.
Very helpful, friendly staff. Knowledgeable too! Large selection of products. Only downside was it was very crowded and hardly accessible for my client who was in a powered wheelchair. The front railing had to be taken down so we could enter the store. The aisles were cluttered and corners were tight. The staff was great at helping us as much as they could but the building really needs a re-vamp.
If they didn't have so many parts in stock I wouldn't bother with this place. The staff don't engage unless approached and will literally stand around with you waiting at the counter. If you don't know specifically what you need they will try to sell you the moon. They tried to sell a friend a board processor and ram because he wanted a solid state drive. He had a fairly recent system.
Great store but the staff is very hit and miss. Some of them can be quite rude but others were extremely useful. It's my go to place for parts but be cautious with who is selling you stuff. Some of them will recommend completely over priced and useless parts (much like the xonar phoebus I bought that took over 2 years to get drivers for but came recommended by a staff member).
Has the best prices for flatscreen televisions in the city, hands down. The people working there are experts in electronics and can actually explain the differences between brands. The gentleman that served me was not trying to sell me the most expensive TV they had but rather find out my needs and sell me a television that best suited them. Great service and great prices.
CC at Merivale always has most of what I was looking for. They had limited access to inside, but wait was not long. Had lines separated for people waiting for service or buying. CC is doing a good job serving people in current times. And at least one thing is good is they are not taking advantage racking prices up. I check Amazon a lot. They are pretty on par most times.
3 hours after purchasing a spring top monitor arm that did not function with all components returned. I was missing the sheet of paper to assemble it. The assemble paper is not of any use and I was denied return. The worst customer interaction I have had in a long time. I will avoid this store now and buy online now not from Canada computers. I did have the receipt.
I like Canada Computers, if your an enthusiast you will get to know who to ask your questions to. As of today, their prices are pretty much inline with other online vendors, they however do not price match anymore. On my most recent visit I was able to buy 2 of 3 items from their, had to go to Amazon for the 3rd due to a 15% price difference. But that was my choice.
A lot of good computer parts and accessories, and very helpful and nice staff. Good prices too, although I went to get one piece that was on sale, and it was out of stock except downtown. I got an equivalent piece though. One thing to note is that the aisles aren't labelled, so it may take a bit to find the part you're looking for. That's the biggest gripe I have.
I ordered a new AIO cpu cooler. I bought it on sale the night before and it was ready for pick up as soon as the store opened. It was waiting at the counter when I came in to pick it up. I brought my son with me and he enjoyed playing the retro 'space invaders' type arcade game at the entrance. Nice touch having that there and unlocked to allow free play.
I bought a special sale tower here...Best $ I have spent. It was a great deal and all I has to do was plug in and boot it up when I got home. I bought online, it was ready in about 2 hours, and was waiting at the desk for me when I arrived. Highly recommended for any PC needs, especially if you know what you want be because it'll save you time and money.
Very knowledgeable and attentive staff: I've got the equipment I needed as well as the advice on how to restore the OS (after I asked of cause). A set of screw drivers I've got has 60! pieces for like 12$ and SSD drive for 30$ or something, so as you can see, the prices are very reasonable too! Plenty of free parking. Very prompt service as well.
Never been to this store before, but this one visit was well worth it. Went looking for a specific variety of webcam, and found exactly what I was looking for, assisted by a helpful associate. The store is spacious, exactly the way such stores ought to be. And the associates are always there to assist. A very good place for things all computers.
Decent stock, sucks that they phase out alot of stuff that's still slightly relevant like Firewire cable (who else should have it? this is why amazon is winning) and the staff is not knowledgeable. I recommend doing your research first, then checking stock and pulling up to purchase. Asking them anything will lead to you buying the wrong stuff.
Best place for computer parts and refurbished equipment. I've sent my parents here and they've received excellent help without being sold things they don't need (like at some big box stores). My only complaint is how much time I end up sitting in their gaming chairs while my boyfriend geeks out and buys parts to rebuild his pc for the nth time.
Literally spent tens of thousands of dollars here between my work life and personal life. They refused to return a $20 NIC, in the middle of the pandemic after a province-wide lockdown, because it was a few days past their return policy. Never going back, and have opened a corporate account with their competition, and am much happier for it.
John R. at the store on Merivale, Ottawa On was very helpful. Listened to my questions really well and provided options for me to choose from instead of only directing me to one product. He also took the time to explain the pros and cons of each product so I could make an informed decision. He crushed it and super happy with the experience!!
Incredibly rude. Two signs for closing time: one says 8pm, the other 7pm. The manager answered incredibly impatiently "we can't take down the sign". They don't seem to care at all about their customers. Times on google were also wrong, showing closing time of 8pm. Manager's answer: our website is right, we can't do anything about google.
I love this store. This store has helped me on my way to what I have achieved. Had a minor set back when roommate smashed one of my two monitors. But I’ll be back to pick up another one soon. If they don’t have what you’re looking for. I’ve never had an issue with them ordering me my parts. They’re helpful and know just what you need.
Fantastic service, Corey was extremely helpful. Came in with very little technical knowledge, he was great at explaining where I should spend the money and where I can afford to spend a little less in the build and was able to work a 4070 into my build instead of a 3070 while being on budget. Can’t wait for my killer pc to be built.
Went in to buy a motherboard, some ram, a fractal case and SDD. We spend 30 min on these folks talking to eachother on how to do price matching on the motherboard, brought in a grumpy manager who had a hard time explaining price matching through Amazon, so we left without the motherboard. Pretty incompetent folks. Just do amazon...
We got a 3080 for my new pc here. They're only selling one to each house hold and you need to set up an account. Its about the same price if not more as the Amazon pre orders. So very pricey but there is a lot of demand so this is to be expected. If you want a 3080 its best to call in to the store over buy online, better results!
Excellent staff. They're all very knowledgeable and accommodating. They can get busy at times because of how knowledgeable they are. They have a plethora of items for sale. They'll probably have what you're looking for. The prices are very competitive and the products are nicely organized. Large store with a good variety.
Built my first PC with the help of my boyfriend and this staff. They were very knowledgeable and very helpful. I needed all white parts and they ordered all of them. I even showed them my parts list and they advised me against some of my options and gave me cheaper but better ones. Great place for newbies trying to build.
The person who helped me pick out a laptop was excellent! Knew his stuff. The only issue was that I was charged the wrong price (price advertised on their website). I had to go into the store to get the refund on my credit card, which was quite an inconvenience since I had to drive 1.5 hours to get there. ($113 refund).
Went to pick up a small item that has already been ordered online. The in-store employees’ attitude are unreasonably horrible only because they were a bit busy at that moment. The manager (or team lead) was the worst, she was unprofessional, abrasive and impolite. The guy that was taking my payment was very nice though.
Hit and miss. Some staff are very attentive some just don't care. It's unfortunate I forgot this guy's name but he was so helpful. Eventhough he knows I won't be buying a merchandise from them he still helped me which Product to get that would benefit ME. Thank You. I will go back if I need something from the store.
Long haired gentlemen behind the Return and Exchange counter was highly disrespectful and ignorant of customer's concerns. Rather than trying to help the customer he was rude and cold when interacting. Lady behind the cash was fantastic and helpful, but issue was still not fixed. Unlikely to return to this location.
Used to love this place. The last couple of times I've been the service was so bad. They seemed to be putting more effort in telling me why they couldn't help than actually helping. Oh well, I did 30 minutes of research and bought what I needed on amazon. I had 2 builds coming up, I'll be doing those myself too.
I've had great service in store when buying my laptop a little while ago.. but don't bother trying to call them...After multiple calls being left on hold (one being 1.5 hours) Id only guess they actively avoid the phone or have it on mute. I would give the staff 5 stars outside of their lack of phone answering
Went in and bought a cheap computer it was a good bang for the buck. Told the staff member what I wanted to use it for, and he made sure and advised what I should get. It's perfect and a great price $300-400 OFF the competitions price not a bad savings for what I now believe to be a better system as well
Everytike I come, it's always an absolute pleasure. Today, I came in for a GPU upgrade. Lawson, absolute Saint of a Human, was able to not only guide my purchase into a better category, but had me leaving the store with a huge smile. All while in the middle of a massive storm. 10/10 would visit again ^_^
Unless you've done your own research, dont bother here. And certainly dont buy their fraud warranty. They wouldnt honor my GPU extended warranty, claim there is no issue. Weird, i've been having an issue for a month, purchased a new GPU and my previously non-functional pc is now functioning properly
I want to apologize in advance because I will probably spell his name wrong but Ryland was Five star service and product knowledge. I had been all over the city and online for a keyboard and mouse to use for work and felt defeated but came here left very confident with my purchase. Chefs kiss
The staff that I’ve interacted there is not only friendly but very knowledgeable. With my most recent purchase, the person who helped me provided a information I wasn’t even aware of that was really helpful (and I was just buying a random video converter for my old Wii!!). Really good store.
Good selection of items. Disappointed with staff assistance. I was looking for an item, the person stocking shelves didn't want to assist and said they weren't sales so if I wanted help I would have to go find someone else. No problem, I will find another store that's willing to assist.
If your going there to ask questions about electronic items or want some advice... don't. But if you know what you want and don't need to talk to anyone, the prices are decent with a wide array of selections. EDIT: Things have gotten better there. Staff is friendly and was very helpful.
The store located in Merivale Rd, Ottawa, has the worst customer service in the entire city. All of the employees look at you and ignore you and the funny thing they walk away quickly to avoid serving you. if they don't want to work it's preferable that they close the store.
Generally very helpful staff and a wide range of products for PCs and other home electronics. As far as prices go, they're typically very competitive and will price match. Also occasionally able to strike a deal on higher-priced items such as lap tops, with good reason.
They are well equiped. Some staff are very friendly, others seem a bit jaded. You tend to have to approach them to get help. Cashier seemed like he didn't want to be there. In the end, the store is very well stocked and you should be able to get whatever it is you need.
I brought my laptop in for a repair, and the woman who assessed the damage discovered that I was still covered under my Dell plan. This means I won't use them this time, but thanks to Sara's honesty and diligence they'll be at the top of my list in the future. Thanks!
The place has a good selection of components, as well as home entertainment stuff. Some of the follow-up service is a bit lacking, though. There's plenty of parking and the website is more accurate than some of the competitors. Overall, still worthwhile to shop there.
Great computer shop they actually have some very competitive prices, often times better price than on amazon I've noticed. Nice to have a brick and mortar shop like this still around you can browse for components or ask someone in person questions about your purchase.
Great place, great environment! The employees are always very helpful and if you’re inexperienced, don’t make you feel that you are. Especially Mark, helped me out a lot today and was very knowledgeable! Will be back when I need a product or even just advice!
