It was clear they had zero interest in helping me file an identify fraud report. I was made to wait and then was finally "helped" by one Of 2-3 individuals who had done nothing but stand behind the counter the whole time I was waiting. She then proceeded to ask me for documents to "prove" the charge was in dispute which made zero sense (how does a credit report show that fraud has occurred?) and made it seem like I was on trial by asking questions like "how did someone obtain your social security number?" (Um... if I knew that don't you think I would have told you!!??). I brought key dates, addresses, proof of address at time account was opened and closed, ID and even social security card - everything the debt collector said I would need - and she didn't care one bit, in fact instead she literally made fun of me for having my social security card on me. She clearly assumed I was just stupid and didn't know what I was taking about and wanted me to go away. I just ended up leaving without my issue being resolved and calling the non-emergency number where they filed the report in 5 minutes, over the phone, without ANY of the information I was told by the officer in person was required. Going here in person was a complete waste of my time.
Went there to file a crash report it took 2 hours and 37 min. Got a ticket for unsafe lane change even though it was my words against another driver. I did ask a few times what procedure or evidence officer used to determine that it was my fault and I did get a rude reply saying that any questions that I have I can ask in court so basically saying "get lost". I understand if both of us got ticket or they should've let insurance companies to figure out whose fault it was, but this is just UNFAIR to give a ticket to one side based on bias words of other driver. Lucky me I have a dash camera installed in my car therefore its just the matter of me going to court and present a video clip of the accident, but still annoyed with time wasting. People in charge of CPD public relations department need to step up their game. It's just terrible experience of what was considered a simple task. P.S. If you will need to file a crash report that happened in downtown of Chicago try doing it at the police station on larrabee & division. It's not a 5 star service, but still much better than service that been provided on 18th & state. Of course its better to avoid car accident at all, but in the city like Chicago its just the matter of time.
District one in my opinion needs new top brass, they are a club into their own. Front desk are above the citizen, rude. Call for service, get pushed off to call 911. How can citizens have respect for the force when they are treated like burdens to the job of serving and protecting the public. No wonder District 1 has such low rating.. Mayor look further than the top brass for your leadership and supervision and see what you find. I , as a resident and board member am not impressed with District 1 (do not accept excuse of shortage of staff, when I see how they perform) as confirmed by their rating. Can we see activity, supervision, performance, productivity and results from this public body in a clear and simple manner. It's all we need to regain faith in our police force for the city of Chicago
My son was arrested and detained here for twenty four hours and dropped off brutally beaten and left to die at county jail where he did die from the excessive force executed on his already weak body. Now they refuse to help get his belongings and give me the run around. Officer Spears and Garcia are directly responsible for my sons death and the Sgt on duty who turned a blind eye while my son screamed in pain while his brain began to swell in his head. This is what Chicago Police Department does to those with documented mental health, LGBQTI persons. And they get to collect a pension?
My wallet was lost at DePaul University with my all documents. I went to Police Station to report about it. When I came there was two polices assisting at front desk. there were two persons before me and 3 persons who wanted to report as well after me. But polices at front desk assisted the people after me first, and they filed my report only in the end when they done filing those people's report. It is not respectful. If I am from foreign country it doesn't mean I will be assisted in the end when all people gone. Disappointed!!!
I went there for a police report. The "officer" behind the desk was so nasty, she made me feel very anxious, she treated us like criminals, for absolutely no reason. She should never be allowed to work on a position of public relations. I am so disgusted by the treatment, I wish she gets fired, or at least disciplined and taught how to treat people with a little respect. "Officer" Hopkins star# 7172 Terrible for the image of the CPD.
I came here to file a police report for a car accident and the female officer who helped me was so rude and unprofessional. I wasn’t even the one at fault, but she made me feel uncomfortable and as if I had done something wrong. She seemed miserable with her job and life and kept rolling her eyes every time I asked a question or made a comment, kindly. And these are the people who are here to protect and serve our community?!!
The worst police department, they don’t have any good manners and they always mad... they think because they’re police we have to be quite and let them talk us whatever they want... anyways I made a car accident report with officer Moore and it took almost 2 weeks to be available... if you aren’t available to help the community just quite... there’s nicest people out there to help
Simply tried to contact the police station closest to where an incident occurred to figure out the next steps to filing a police report for identity theft. The officer who answered the phone was condescending. If you hate your job, don't work there. Your job is to help people when they're in trouble, not make them feel even worse for something bad happening to them.
Embarrising I must say...I got into some trouble. Acted foolish being under the influence. If police wanted they could have gotten violent . I appreciate the fact that they did not. I felt stupid waking up in jail. They were still polite that morning in the midst of the discharge. We all make mistakes I thank God it did not turn the wrong way.
They are unresponsive and unwilling to do their public duty of keeping civilians and roadways safe for drivers. More than 90 motor cyclists sped through 4 red lights on lower wacker and throughout Chicago today 9/15/2018 which increased tensions and aggressive driving overall. They should do their jobs and keep the peace on the roadways.
Had someone follow me out of Jewel over to Dunkin Donuts and back to Jewel. Went inside Jewel and waited. Saw guy again outside and called police to have squad car drive through the parking lot so I could get home. They were nice, super responsive, and called after. I really appreciate you all. Thank you!
The most useless police ever! Called to ask for help since a man was following me and hid in a store to get away. He is clearly a beggar harassing others just not me they tell me to call 911. No interest to help — I thought you guys were supposed to serve and protect?!
Went in to file a police report. Officer Hoffman and others were polite, professional, and made small talk. Officer Hoffman even followed up with a phone call to confirm some details. The seamless experience took a total of 15 minutes. Thank you!
A suburban cop warned me about the police here and I read the reviews so I was expecting the worst. To my surprise the 2 women that helped me were very helpful, no attitude at all. Very quick and fast to attend my needs. Thank you!
Police station was really rude, asked vague questions almost impossible to understand. Talked to other police officers about unrelated work things while doing a report. Didnt treat with respect. I wish i could give negative stars.
Went in to file an accident report on a cold Sunday morning. No wait and I was in and out in 15 minutes. I was expecting rude people and a long wait based on other reviews but I did not. They were polite and professional.
Absolutely awful. I was receiving threats and called for help and they practically said “since they haven’t done anything there’s nothing to do.” Hope no one feels unsafe and calls because I doubt you’ll get much help.
bad service, i just got lost my important stuff and there was many dumb police officers she told me wait 3days,than i came back ,she said i can find anything. there is nothing i can help you.stupid dumbass.
Came to file an accident report after a hit and run at the aquarium. Officers were friendly and helpful. Took my report and explained the process as well as advised me of the next steps I needed to take.
Just spoke with a lady officer on the phone and she couldn't have been more rude. These are people we are supposed to trust and feel protected by, but she just made me feel unsafe and stupid.
Wow! I called to report credit card fraud and the person that answered the phone was one of the rudest people I have ever talked to... I wish I could have got his name
Over the phone officers are rude nasty and unprofessional. I feel sorry for the people in custody the female officer at the front desk needs to be a dishwasher
This court date Beverley Lee ATM they was better, purchase matthew 2:16 ORDER EXECUTIVE FEDERAL RESERVE NOTE ORDER COCAINE. THY. PRICED MY. DEAL
Officers are dumb in there. They say stuff and don’t do it. Please be honest and do what you say. Don’t spoil police departments name.
Its a Great place to take care of your Business and get your questions answered
Wait to get an accident report!!! Really? Only one police officer can do it?
Will not even answer the phone or hang up while I am speaking.
I see people hanging around and not doing much work here
They steal they bribe they don't admit they're Wrong.
They catch lots of expired sticker here.. Be careful!
On horse back in a cold weather.
Very rude, disgusting attitudes,
