नव्याने उभारल्या जात असलेल्या गृहनिर्माण प्रकल्पांमुळे शहराच्या लोकसंख्येत भर पडत आहे. अंबरनाथ आणि बदलापूर या दोन रेल्वे स्थानकांच्या दरम्यान नव्या चिखलोली स्थानकास रेल्वे प्रशासनाने मंजुरी दिली आहे. दोन्ही शहरांतील विस्तारित वसाहतींना त्याचा फायदा होणार आहे. नियोजित चिखलोली स्थानकाच्या पूर्व आणि पश्चिम दोन्ही विभागांत मोठय़ा प्रमाणात गृहसंकुले उभारली जात आहेत. त्यांना ये-जा करणे या नव्या स्थानकामुळे शक्य होणार आहे.
