This place has been open for years and was once one of only a few Asian markets in the area. Over the years there have been some improvements but it is nowhere near as nice as 888 international market but it has a decent selection with several different brands of similar products and is so much closer and convenient than 888. There are several different aisles for snacks, Japanese ingredients, canned food, but the majority of the store's products cater to Chinese cuisine. In the back is a large freezer section and butcher. This is an excellent place to find decently priced off cuts or more exotic meats. There a large array of fresh fish and seafood that can be cleaned and cut to your preference. They also have foreign beers and Vietnamese style baguettes perfect for making your own banh mi or sandwiches. Definitely grab a few of these at the checkout.
I really like this Asian Market. They have lots of snacks when you first walk in. Seaweed Snack, crackers, cookies, odd flavored chips, little sponge cakes and candies (Japanese Kit-Kat flavors!). Read the labels, it usually has an english translation on the back. This market also has plenty of spices, lots of noodle varieties, canned vegetables and soups, too. The fish market here is kinda funky. It definitely smells strong. I think I might try some live crab here one day. They also have a grab n go drink area in the middle of the store. I got a vanilla coffee drink and something called MoGu MoGu in mango. It's part juice, part coconut chews. It's weird, but tastes good. There are also a variety of Ramune.
And for the bald headed oriental at the front, no I don’t Need EBT. After picking out almost 200$ worth of crabs I am questioned at the register that is clearly signed “Card only NO EBT” not one person in front of me did he ask or badger making sure no EBT. I will never from this day forward spend my money there, nor will I recommend anyone there that is a person of color. They are nasty and think they are above us, and they are not. Update 12/9/23 I tried to give this place another shoot. They are just a bunch of rude individuals especially the gentleman in the seafood area. Who’s wants dead blue crabs when I know they have some in the back. They are nasty people
Things were much more expensive here than they used to be. For example, the price of jellyfish was $1.99 early this year, now it’s $4. My friend and I bought some food for hot pot yesterday. We budgeted around $60 and it turned out $90. Some items we picked were missing price tags, so when we checked out, it would be quite embarrassing to say “No, we don’t want it”. The sliced beef we bought was $12 per pound, but after it thawed and cooked, both my friend and I thought the meat did not taste like beef. Anyway, I don’t think I will go to this place again.
So very happy a store like this is around our beautiful city. I've discovered so many new flavors and tastes and textures that you just can't find in any local grocery store. Lays potato chips from other countries are out of this world with flavors you'd never think we're possible. Snack cakes, desserts, way better versions of ramen, all kinds of Asian noodles, and ingredients to make your own fantastic Asian dishes. I recommend being adventurous and seeing what you like in this store you'll always find something new every week.
A big Asian store with variety of items from Asian food items, fresh and frozen seafood, fresh meat, fruits/vegetables and a lot more. They even have kitchen items and cosmetics. I get most of my Asian veggies and condiments here. I wish they install a more efficient air vents to minimize the unpleasant smell. The store just started charging for plastic shopping bags and encouraging bringing your own bags. I kinda like the idea since I’m big on recycling/saving the environment.
I was in here shopping around and there was such an amazing variety of different products. It was PACKED, but the line went to by so quickly and the employees were great. There was a very difficult and rude customer when I was in line, but the owner was very kind and handled it great. I felt so bad he had to deal with her, but he did an amazing job standing his ground while also showing extreme patience. Would recommend this store to anyone!
Be sure to check the expiration dates! I don't see what all the hype is about this place. Sure it's neat and you have access to produce and products that you can't get at a regular supermarket. But it's dirty and most everything we looked at was expired or didn't have expiration dates in English. The shelves were sticky and dirty. The floor was just as bad. This is not my ideal place to shop for food.
I took my grandson here to see unfamiliar displays of food and other items. There is a wide selection of ethnic foods from Asian to Hispanic, fresh crab & lobster, flash frozen whole fish and a wide variety of produce. Parking is convenient. Remember to bring your reusable shopping bags. River Market area is very convenient and other shops in the area will make you glad you made the trip.
Very well organized, many friendly employees who are willing to stop what they’re doing to help a customer need. Amazing managers who truly care about both their employees and customers and not just about the money. Overall just a very fun In friendly place. If I could I would shop there 24/7! Only downside is the parking but at least it’s still free. Just wish it was bigger
This place offers a great variety in food products and other Asian items. There is plenty of space for a grocery cart considering how much product is in the store. They have tried to place items according to origin but with the account and the options they have, it's impossible to segregate everything. It's also home to quite an impressive fresh seafood area.
This is a great Asian market! The only one caveat is the fish market and the odor that emanates from it really tates your shopping experience. They have improved the odor, but there's still a bad odor. And finding prices for several items is difficult, though they have recently put in price scanners throughout the store which is then a big improvement!
I loved going in here, they have a good variety of items. There is fresh fish/seafood, frozen/refrigerated section, kitchen item area, snacks/ candy, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and dry goods. I'm sure I've missed something, it's not as big as H-Mart, but still larger than a small town Asian market store.
This place is amazing. Every single person can find something they will love here. It is so full of culture and adventure it will jump start your soul and make you feel alive again. Also, they have a HUGE selection of canned meats. PLUS! Fresh lobster, clams, oysters, and crayfish for all your FAT TUESDAY NEEDS!
Tons of variety including fresh produce, live seafood, and imported goods. They have a good variety of root vegetables, tropical fruits and tons of dried and canned goods. The prices are very reasonable with a pretty fast checkout. They offer free boxes for carry out, so bring up own bags if that’s preferred.
This authentic Asian market has a very extensive fishmonger and butcher shop they also carry all your Asian South Asian necessities for cooking and things that you don't think they would carry looking for the hard to find fruit hard to find fish vegetable that's not at your local grocer check this place out
Always a great selection of Basics to keep in one's cupboard. Great selection of fresh vegetables, quality tea, and also a small Seafood and butcher shop in the back. This is also our common go-to for noodles, Thai basil, Pho broth, as well as traditional style soup bowls and cooking utensils.
Well organized and clean. All the fish, live lobsters and live crabs look great! I went looking for bok choy, I was pleasantly surprised by the price and quantity. The onions were huge! This is my new go to for fish and veggies! I will definitely go back and see about getting some salmon!!
One of my favourite places to buy food. Great place to get fish and veg that the mainstream grocery markets don’t carry. Plus a huge selection of other ingredients that are hard to find elsewhere. The snacks are great too. If you haven’t tried the taiyaki ice cream, I highly recommend it.
The variety of different ramen, snacks, and drinks is SO AWESOME. We moved further away from the market (used to be a 7 minute drive, now it's about 45 minutes) but we still make it a priority to come shop about once a week. The staff is so friendly...... couldn't ask for a better shop!
This Asian supermarket has a wide selection. They also have an area that sells fresh seafood. One of the downside was that many of the items had outdated price tags. However, they did have a price scanner to get the real price. The parking spaces are also very tight get in and out of.
I love this store. Fresh meat and seafood section. The seafood guys are the best. Lots of pan Asian foods and snacks. Need something for a Asian recipe they have it. Things for preparing sushi, noodles, Asian soups, hot pot, spring rolls, etc etc etc. They have it all. Bring a bag
Great Chinese supermarket. Has staples and deep cuts in Asian cuisine ingredients. I have never seen Cordyceps mushrooms ever (see The Last of Us) here you can buy a bag for your cooking. Serious respect here. My bar is the Hong Kong Supermarket in NYC and this place is as good.
They have a lot of good selection, just pay attention when you pay, especially if you have a lot of items in your cart, because they double scan some items if your not looking, check your receipts. i called their attention twice already. Check expiration dates too.
CFM offers a wide range of Asian products! From package ramen to fresh produce and fish they may have what you’re looking for. I’m a big fan of their frozen dumpling, shumai and spring roll selections. They also offer various frozen package meats for hot pot.
This is an authentic Chinese market, topped off with the raw fish smell when entering. The butcher is always welcoming and greets everyone with a smile. They have jackfruit and other exotic fruits with a huge selection of drinks. The ramen options diverse.
Some of the live crabs in the tank were dead making a bacteria that can ruin other crabs, they should look into checking it regularly. Or at least hourly. Coconut was surprisingly fresh and the meat was tasty. The variety is definitely a plus.
A great Asian market. The building is a little old feeling but the staff are friendly and the choices are great. We always find what we're looking for. Fresh fish, fresh veggies and fruit, canned goods, sauces and tools, bowls, steamers etc
This one of the best markets I have found in Kansas City to find fresh seafood. I have bought live blue crabs and crawfish, a variety of frozen fish, and fresh salmon, snapper, bass, oysters and more. If you are serving a large group or
I've been here before. I brought my boyfriend in because he had never been. He was stationed overseas and lived there for quite some time, so he misses the food. He was like a kid in a candy store when we walked in. It took about 10
The absolute best fresh fish, rice and everything you could need to make a great meal market in life. and if your really in a bind, buy your pots and woks there to. Clean and respectful, I love this place. Sooo, bring your wallet....
I didn't buy anything there but just walking in I could tell it would be a place I would visit more freely in the future. They had everything from snacks and tea to fresh fish in the back. Looking forward to checking it out further
Nearly none of the items are clearly marked with a price or are in the wrong space. This is the 3rd time Ive shopped there only to get to the cash register and pay 20-30% higher. Unless they are deceptively charging higher prices
They have every Asian condiment, fresh fish, seafood and produce. Noodles, dumplings and egg rolls! I LOVE the variety of serving dishes, spoons, bowls etc. Beautiful and so much more! Lots of novelties! I could spend hours here.
Only place in town we can manage to find some of the things we need for cooking fresh vegetable soups. At that the prices on vegetables are often less than other stores. There's also a fresh seafood and meat counter in the back.
Love this place the butcher shop has so much fresh pork, chicken and fish. And an amazing selection of fresh vegetables. So many things I have never seen before and a super friendly staff. Definitely going back for more.
From start to finish the whole experience here was very much over the top. The variety of food and products here is second to none. I wish i lived closer, this place would be my one and only shopping place.
Great Asian selections! Its good. I can find fresh fish here. Items are a little pricey. You can only buy large amounts of fresh veggies here and you have to pay for your bags. Bring your own bags.
Had an abundance of unique items. The male staff were friendly. The market has a fresh seafood market, and I wasn't prepared for the smell. After I became acclimated, it was a pleasant experience.
We love Chinatown. So many new and cool things to try. The fresh fish and seafood are wonderful. We always try at least one new food and one new drink. A must for adventurous eaters and foodies.
Great selection of Asian canned, dried, jarred, and fresh items. Clean and friendly. The banh mi French rolls are amazing!! Great for grilled sausage and Italian hoagies!! Best in the city!
Great selection of food from various Asian cuisines. Has fresh meat counter, and refrigerated produce. A good variety of dry goods. Has a food truck outside that you can order cooked food.
Great place to find Asian foods. They have everything from fresh fish, vegetables, canned goods and dry goods. Their peoduce is usually fresh and reasonably priced.
Asian as it gets. If you are looking for asian goods around downtown, this is the place to go. Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Filipino, etc. Close to having it all.
It’s great to see things. But they are a little mean. Fresh sea food even tho we only go for my gf bc I’m allergic. Prices are going up tho we’ve noticed …
Huge place with lots of options, however, they had 2 tanks of dead crawfish in the fish market section that Stank up the entire building. It smelled horrible.
I mean it's an Asian market so expect the smells, that's how you know it's legit. I was disappointed no frozen sashimi though. Do not come here to make sushi.
Great selection. Thr fresh fruit is a+. Indifferent employees at best. Are you will8ng to forgo formalities for selection? If are, this is the place for you.
For some reason their prices have shot through the roof within a couple of weeks. They want me to pay $5 for a small bag of okra? $10 for one little guava?
Are you looking for fresh Thai basil, rice noodles, or tiny mushrooms? This is the place for all the ingredients you may want in your soups or springroll.
Not the best selection of rice! ♀️ And I can't ever find my brands here. Still, they almost always have a new flavor of Hi-Chews to try, so hey. …
Their Scale is not accurate, will charge you for almost double the actual weight of what you bought. (My scale is in grams, i just converted). Beware.
I love Asian foods. This was a treat for me. I saw so many food items I didn't know and needed more information about. I was impressed. I'll be back.
Always a great time with lots of great things to try and see. The workers are awesome and I recommend people of all cultures to check this place out
Every weekend this place is jampacked. They have all kinds of food items and some are much much lower than regular department type of food market!
Got crabs...? Well guess what, Chinatown Food market does and they are alive... this was the best father's day dinner ever... Thank you so much...
Great selection of items from around the world, but so many items don't have prices marked so you don't know what they cost until you check out.
Not much option for an asian market. Place also seems run down and dirty. The minute you walked in, it has a weird smell of something rotten
Great place to get groceries cheap. A lot of different things you will not find anywhere else. One of the best places to get fresh seafood.
I love coming here for all of my ethnic food needs. Yes it STANKS up in there and it may be crowded at times but it's great and I enjoy it
Had great fresh produce, including seafood. It was a good sized store with wider walk ways then some other Asian markets I have been too.
Everything one could hope for regarding Chinese Foods, Spices, Fresh Seafood, Meats (varied and diverse) etc. An excellent experience!!
Literally one of my favorite places to shop at. There's such an amazing selection of EVERYTHING. Try it out, you won't be disappointed
Really it’s a very small Chinese grocery store, they don’t really have a lot of stuff for Chinese mostly for Vietnamese grocery here.
This place was very awesome! The variety that they have is by far the best! Will definitely be going back to expand my taste buds!
The fish monger in back can be a plus or minus depending on if you like fresh fish! I love fresh fish so it's thumbs up for me
Fantastic selection, if a bit tough to navigate. Parking is surprisingly well thought out for being in the River Market.
Good place to find "Asian" items I can't find elsewhere. They do have a seafood section, that I've not yet bought from.
They had all kinds of tea to choose from. The store had a smell to it. Their prices are a little high in my opinion.
Wide variety of Asian food. Good selection of fresh fresh seafood. The best option in downtown & Northland.
Great selection of hard to find food items or ingredients. Very helpful staff. I go once every other week.
What a wonderful market full of great options not seen in regular stores. I can't wait to come back!
One of my fave places ever! If you are looking for some cool and unique asian goodies shop here!!!!
These people apparently don't like an old, white couple looking for bananas and milk! Jeez!
This place has a great variety of products and produce. Have been going there for years!
Excellent. My wife is from Vietnam and China and wide selection. Not sure for everyone.
I love this place, it's the perfect place to try snacks and pick up a bottle of Soju.
Looks big from the outside, but smaller than I expected. Good selection of items.
Love going there to get authentic Asian groceries. Good prices on pork belly.
Fishy smelling is ok, but rotten fish smell isn't. Long check out lines.
Always very well stocked, and they have a fantastic produce selection!
Such a good store, lots of different snacks from around the world
Nice place to get your Asian food necessities around Kansas City
Love the place . If you don't mind the smell when you come in.
Interesting place. Wide variety of fresh produce and seafood.
