I've been to this store several times before but I will never return. While I understand that I was visiting the store on Lunar New Year; there was no excuse for the level of hostility I got from the cashier that rang me up. I greeted her with a hello, Happy New Year to which I received no response. The woman would not even look at me. I was having a hard time getting my debit card to read so she grabbed it from me and shoved it in the machine. Although the attitude that she took while doing this very rude action was quite aggressive I thanked her just the same because I was having an issue with the card. She gave no response. When I placed my bag on the countertop to load my groceries in it she took several items and just slammed them in the bag. The level of hostility was so over-the-top that my friend I brought to the store with me and asked me why I would even bother to spend money in a place that treated me like that. If I thought it would have helped I would have spoken to the manager. I am Black; I felt that I received this treatment because I didn't see any of the other cashiers behaving that way with customers. There weren't even long lines. There was no one in life behind me. I wasn't rude just the opposite. In fact, I even wished her Happy New Year on my departure. That said this is the kind of over racism that members of the Black community often encounter from Asian immigrants. Less so from 2nd Generation folks. That said I had 2 other commercial exchanges in Flushing that day that went nothing like this one. In those exchanges I was treated with dignity and respect by Chinese shop keepers. #shoppingwhileBlack

This place has no respect for its customers. The following is not an event that I heard from other customers but from my own family experience. On the eve of Chinese New Year 2019, a member of my family was shopping there in the late morning. She has shopped there many times before. A regular customer. She paid for all items however, she forgot one in a separate bag. I included a picture of the receipt of the items purchased on that day. Store staff surround her and did not allow her to leave. They took her to the manager office to take a photo of her to keep in his sick book and also to display for the public at the cash register. I am not even sure if that is legal. In his office, she offered to pay twice for the item in question. He refused an insist on calling the police. Police came and arrested her within 5 mins of the call. I cannot type in Chinese, if you are reading this please translate it to your own family members to NOT shop here. There are plenty of other supermarkets around the neighborhood. Remember price does not equal service or respect.

It's a typical large supermarket catering to the Chinese community in Main Street, Flushing, Queens. Live seafood and products from China are featured. It can be a challenge to identify many of the stocked items since most things are written in Chinese only and finding English help is difficult here as it is in the rest of Chinatown. I like the produce department which has varieties of veggies not found in non-asian markets. Google is a great help in identifying them - although when I go to recipes, instructions are way too exotic and complicated. The location is a bit of a walk from the subway so I tend not to come here in the winter or with inclement weather.

RUN from this place!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Would give 0 star if that’s possible. Cashier and even the manager is rude and incompetent. Ask for an extra bag to double bag cause the grocery was heavy and packages has sharp corners. the Cashier yelled at me and rolled her eyes in front of me and said: “oh bring you own bags!” and screamed some more words in her native language. The manager came out and said, “ oh I don’t see the problem with this grocery!” with a smirk on his face. WOULD NEVER COME BACK! My friend had similar experience with them and had saw expired products on their shelves!

They get one star for having almost everything in their store. I removed four stars because we bought many items over $100. Our bag ripped. I asked them to give me another bag. They said $0.25. I didn't have $0.25. I had $0.15. Cashier called the manager. Manager came and said, "$0.25". I left everything at the store, walked a block, got bags from my car, came back to the store, put all groceries in the other bags, and walked out of the store. This is called, "poor customer service."

My own experience from going to chungfat supermarket today was horrible. The supermarket itself was decent despite the fact it’s a bit dirty. However, the cashiers are so unprofessional and rude. NO JOKE. There are numerous people who needs a job and they overuse their powers as cashiers. They treat their job with no respect, they treat their customers with no respect, they don’t deserve the job numerous people need. So rude and disrespectful. No decent manners.

My family has shopped here for many years. My mom stopped by today and the cashier was incredibly rude to her. While getting cash from wallet, my mom asked the cashier for help with bagging her items. The female cashier had the audacity to tell my mom if she was looking for trouble. What the heck. What kind of customer service is this. My mom worked as a cashier all her life and she’s an immigrant too. Never has she ever gave anyone a hard time. Disappointing.

I’m not sure what people expect from the workers. This is Flushing. The workers are trying to support their families and mostly immigrants (villagers) with zero English. Stop expecting WHOLE FOODS or Trader Joe service. You came to flushing for cheap fresh groceries. Just bring your darn bags and stop expecting the workers to bow to you. Get your stuff, pay and move on. Stop being so sensitive, Millennials… they don’t owe you anything.

  • Gyssell Nunez

They have no one who speaks English. I tried asking for help reaching for some fruits even using hand gestures to point out items and saying how many I wanted (because I am wheelchair bound and unable to reach some items) The workers there simply laughed and walked away from me laughing with others from their own race. I was unable to buy the items I wanted and left the market filled with anger and humiliation.

Big supermarket with stocks and shelves of all kinds of groceries. Whatever you're looking for you'll probably find it here. Vegetables, fruits, meats, poultry, fish, canned goods, chocolates, cookies, pastries, crackers. The place is busy so it's difficult to keep clean. Prices are cheap. They have $1 Specials fruits on the sidewalk outside. Not a bad deal if all you're doing is making fruit juice.

  • KB Brown

Ice 3 for 9.98. Hmm every time I come into this racist place. They raise prices or try to scam. They are very rude and more.. today I got tired of it They tried to charge me 9 for one box of ice cream when it was 4.49 for one box. I took a photo and the bag lazy Manger was not happy. I see these people always try to steal from people and fighting with people. Not good. I'm filling a complaint.

  • Savio Chu

Check put counter very small and in unorganized. That is one of the reasons , error happen while scanning . And then some customers is accuse of shoplifting. I see so many times COP going to that Supermarket then any others around him. By the way sidewalk was expanded for people's to walk this is the only supermarket . Put they fruits cart middle of the side walk. City never ticket them.

  • Josiah Z

DO NOT shopping at this place!! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Would give 0 star if that’s possible. Cashier and even the manager is rude, just ask for an extra bag because we two people spilt the order. Cashier yelled at me and rolled her eyes in front of me and said: "No". WOULD NEVER COME BACK! My friend had similar experience with them and had saw expired products on their shelves!

I came by at 5 on a Thursday evening. It also happens to be the day of another supermarket opening down the block. Prices were clearly posted. Prices for vegetables are comparable with nearby supermarkets. They have a decent variety of Asian vegetables, which is the only reason I go to these Asian supermarkets. Check-out lines were short, which is always a plus!

  • anthony bove

Great market affordable and fresh produce. The Chinese are hard workers and they provide excellent service waiting time at the cashier is less than five minutes. Unlike trader Joe's in Manhattan the checkout time is thirty minutes. And you suffer with other frustrating customers, And high costs. The immigrant community works and are productive.

  • Zedi Master

Great place for pricey Chinese groceries. Now for a more in depth review, okay, at first glance this super market seems huge, quite huge; but when compared to its neighboring markets, it does fall in line with the vast size and real estate available to it. Choices selection are vast, but lacks the more popular brands.

  • Fat BLac

This supermarket cashiers are not customer friendly and have a bad attitude which ends up with them yelling at the customers and embarrassing them. The people that clean the fish don't don't do a thorough job. I always have to clean the fish a 2nd before I can cook them. Management needs to hire new experienced staff.

  • Jan Willis

Horrible customer service, terrible attitudes and horrible management. Smelly, disgusting, and a waste of your time! Do not go here, I wasted a perfectly good hour of my life here. Beware of the cashiers! They will throw you a nasty look and their attitude deserves to be shunned. Fire them, I say.

  • Ada Hass

Invited to my friend's house for Autumn Moon Festival dinnner. He presented Moon cake that was surrounded by mold. He was embarrassed and told us he bought these moon cake from Chung Fat Supermarket. Be careful with this supermarket. If Moon Cake can go bad, that says a lot about their quality.

  • Awilda Munasingha

The cashiers are rude here and don't speak english I've seen them argue with custormers..I told a worker that I saw a dog pee outside on a box that had oranges that were on the floor and showed him and he did nothing about it either because he did not understand english or did not care

  • Guo m

It's been a good spot for grocery comparing with other counterparts. The location is busy. Getting prepared to take some time finding a parking place. Fruits and seafood are very fresh and the price is acceptable. Business hours are sun-sun 7-11. Just a reminder.

  • Frank Salinas

Nicely remodeled with a large selection. My wife is Chinese and this is one of her favorite supermarkets in Flushing. They have a good selection of fruits and vegetables as well as most staple Chinese food products such as sauces, noodles and frozen foods.

  • Tito Juarez

EDIT: Any way you could carry Foster's Oil Can beers? I'd change my review to 5 stars if you could stock this item! It's quite crowded. It has mostly Asian groceries. The meats are okay. It's convenient and around the corner. It could use more space.

  • Mona P.

I really like this Asian supermarket because I can find almost everything I want here. The prices are good as well. What I don't like is the fact that I can rarely find anyone who speaks English, and the fact that I've run into a few rude people.

  • Stph Lam

So slow for check out. Can't handle check out fast like cross streets or even next to it. Light are so white that I don't feel warm for buying food. Just feel like to be hurry and get out. Wish them just hire interior designer to help them.

  • Cake Love

Weird cookies, taste and name; Mooncake what are they from the moon or where? Also the other cookies and sweets packed in two plastic Why? wasting money and waste of plastic. Too much dumb. All the of the asian food and supermarket do that.

  • Jun Chen

Most items are reasonably priced here or cheaper than other supermarkets in the area. Might not be as clean or neatly organized comparing to the Great Wall supermarket that's newly opened just across the street.

  • lilili Murphy

y can buy different kinds of Chinese ingredients and groceries, put a lot of fruits at the door, and there are crayfish in the supermarket, It is very convenient. en, the hygiene in the market needs attention.

  • Sophia Yang

Cheap produce. Been here several times, very busy lines and not much space to move around with your shopping cart. Nice selections, wish people work there are more friendlier. They can be very mean sometimes.

  • Mehak Malhi

We bought two ice creams and after we ate it we saw that it was expired by FOUR months. Never going here again. If you go here please check their dates because clearly they do not care enough to follow rules.

  • Sui Ching Yuen

Easy in and easy out. A nondescript Chinese supermarket that is well stocked with fresh veggies and conveniently located right next to the exit of the 7train Main street-Flushing station and other bus stops.

  • Simon Liu

Prices are slightly higher than markets on main street but understandable as there is no other market around so they can, also great that they recently expanded their market which is more spacious now

  • Howard Hong

This place is dirty. Staffs are rude. Even though prices are cheap for groceries, vegetables quality is "great". But don't you wonder why vegetables keep in refrigerator for weeks without rotten.

  • ERNEST SIEW

Chinese supermarket good produce, poultry, fish etc. The service is OK but not helpful, we just buy the fruits which are fresh and the vegetables, is crowded and is not very clean the store.

  • Mg 0

More old-school Chinese supermarket feeling. Slightly louder, glarier lights, chipped floors, more pungent smells than some of the newer markets. I like its energy. Takes ApplePay !

  • Satoshishun Itsuki

Chung Fat supermarket have some legit good deals at meat department. As a Asian supermarket, they do not carry turkey. I can say that they have the best meat deal within 10 miles.

  • Benny Wang
