I recently attended the Auto Show in Ottawa, Ontario at the Congress Centre. I saw City Lock Auto was there and asked the gentleman at the booth some questions regarding pricing and replacement of my key and remote. I was very disappointed at the lack of knowledge on the products and questions I had. He kept referring to a flash card style paper that had only a handful of products and when I told him the make and model he proceeded to point at random pictures asking me if my key was like various pictures. I was very disturbed by this as in past experiences dealers and lock smiths will ask to A. to see the key and remote B. ask for the FCC ID. I did not feel very confident that I could/would even be sold a remote that fit the make and model of my car, I drive Silverado and Probably would have ended up with a Hyundai remote at the rate this young guy was going. I did not find this company knowledgeable or professional and unfortunately due to my lack of confidence they did not obtain my business I chose to go elsewhere. I then stumbled upon other reviews and found my self pondering for a company who has been in business for 40 years they should have an established product knowledge and substantial product on hand for purchase. Which neither is the case. I have been a respected member of Ottawa for over 30 years and from my research find it misleading to state that City Lock Auto has been in business for 40 yrs. When this company is barely 5 years new. I feel that accredited reputation should be earned based on performance and not affiliation with an existing company in Ottawa. Reputation has to be earned through outstanding and excellent service and knowledge for the needs of the consumer they are targeting. This was not the case.

This company cannot bother to show up on time. I used them on 2 separate occasions during the same week. During the first appointment they gave me a window of 12 to 2pm. They showed up around 4. No apologies, and no communication. I would have had lunch if I had known. But I gave them the benefit of the doubt and let them change the locks during a sheriff eviction. I told them the date a week ahead of time, confirmed the time twice the day before and STRESSED the importance of being there on time. When the time for the eviction happened, the sheriff was there but the locksmith was nowhere to be found. I called the office and they told me "he's 2 minutes away". That was a lie, they showed up 15 minutes later after the sheriff had left already. Thankfully we managed to get into the unit without the locksmith and we could proceed with replacing the locks, but otherwise we wouldn't have been able to proceed with the eviction which would have added significant costs and further delays. In addition to the lack of communication and overt lie about ETA, there was once again 0 apology. That aside, when they replaced the deadbolt, they spent 10 minutes looking for the keys on the floor, in the packaging, looking at another package to see where the keys were, telling me how sometimes people take the keys and return deadbolts to Homedepot where it just gets put back on the shelves etc... when I realized they had left the keys in the lock on the other side of the door. Terrible experience. Twice in a week.

Terrible. I needed a transponder key cut, and a key fob that I purchased on ebay programmed for my Hyundai. After asking them on the phone if they were capable of doing this, they replied "Yes, No problem"- This was not the case. Once I showed up my initial impression was that this place was super sketchy. The staff were unproffessional. Some staff members dressed in skater shoes, ball cap, and baggy pants as though they were going to a concert or something. It took 15 minutes for them to find the right computer to program my key. The equipment they had seemed old, and unreliable. The tech had to fiddle with old wiring for a while to get the computer to work right. They were successfully able to program my key after about 40 minutes. They were not able to program the key fob. The tech "didn't know what the problem was". I suspect they just didn't know what they were doing. This guy seemed like he had a total of 15 minutes training on this stuff. After spending the better part of the morning there, and only having 50% of what I needed completed, they were still trying to charge me full price. We heckled over the price for a while, and eventually I just left. I went straight to the Hyundai dealer, which was able to complete the job in a proffessional manner in good time. The Hyundai dealer actually ended up being cheaper then City Lock Auto. I would not recommend this place, and I discourage others from wasting their time there as well.

Worst experience ever, Came to get a key made said they could when the key was programmed light on dash for security problems with the new key When I told them about it they went back to my car and started playing around. They were puzzled because it wasn't working they came back and told me it couldn't be done today said come back tomorrow, when I tried to leave with my car it's wasn't turning over at all and wasn't able to turn on I don't know why because I drove my car there and every other day and when I told them that's this is ubserd they said they have 10 years of experience and this never happens he said that it was my fault and that you can't blame us for it with all this said I recommend you never go to this place unless you plan on leaving there without a running vehicle

I called to ask if they could cut spare keys for my 1968 Volkswagen. They told me it shouldn't be a problem and to bring them in. After three or four guys spent 15 minutes discussing the keys without a word to me, one of them gave me a few blanks and told me to take them home to try. None fit; I came back with the car and they determined that they didn't have the proper blanks in stock, but would order them. Should take a week, I was told. After ten days with no callback, I called and asked about whether the blanks had come in. Nobody seemed to know what I was talking about. I tried again a few days later and was directed to a number where I had to leave a message. I did, but never received a callback. At this point I'd had enough. I went to A Everest on Bank and got good service.

Honestly they got a really nice decoration in store and they are really really professional at their work. However, under this situation of COVID-19, their guy talked to me without his mask. I mean, I don’t care if you have mask on when there’s no customers, but you need to put on a mask cover when you talk to ur customer, and I can report you if you don’t actually. It’s okay if you don’t like the mask but you need to respect ur customer and protect them. The guy talked to me without a mask and he talked to my phone without a mask the whole time. The other staff I talked to at least put on her mask when talking to me. You put your employees and your customers at risk. That’s really irresponsible. So disappointed when such a professional has such irresponsible behaviour

They did a good job HOWEVER they were very unclear about the pricing. We initially called and described our issue regarding the ignition and they quoted us for a set price for the whole job. We brought the car in and they told us they’d be doing the labour and producing a new key all for the price we were initially told. When the work was done and we picked up the car, they tried to charge us $100 more than what we were told. Bottom line is, if you’re going to agree on a price, don’t try to rip me off when I come to pick up my car. If you’re considering going here, be careful as they will most likely try to rip you off.

I can’t even begin to express how happy and very pleased we are with the service we received by these professionals. My son lost his only key for his 2010 Ford Ranger in the Tay River in Perth, Ont. Patty, who works there, suggested we use CAA to have the vehicle towed there. As a result we received a $100. credit which was applied to the two keys, with embedded transponders that had to be coded to the truck. Everything was completed within a few hours at a fraction of the cost compared to other automotive locksmiths. The Ford dealer quoted us $2-$3k. Thank you so very very much.

I needed a replacement key fob and City Lock Auto gave me a good price compared to my dealership and they gave me a guarantee that they could copy my key or i'd get my money back, which was reassuring. I did have an issue during the process though. The key fob that they ordered was similar to mine, but for a different brand. As a result, none of the buttons on the fob worked (only the proximity part did, so at least I could start my car). I ended up waiting another week and a half for them to get the correct set of keys. Overall the staff were nice and they got the job done :).

Excellent service and professionalism. I lock myself out of my house. The neighbour called City Locksmith. Victor came to my rescue with a smile. He was able to unlock my door with minimum damage. He was able to accommodated my situation and showed his expertise and honesty at an affordable price. My locks needed to be re-keys which he did. Afterward, I went to the store to get 2 extra keys which he cut for me at no extra charge. The request for an emergency locksmith service was done quickly and proficiently. I would definitely call them back.

I never wrote a review in my life but this one I had to do. My truck key was stuck in the ignition and my Toyota dealer wanted to charge me $859&tx to change the ignition! I called City Locksmith and spoke with David. David immediately informed me that this would cost me $325&tx. Once at the store David informed me that the igniion was not the problem. David fixed the problem and charged me less then $325!!! Talking about honesty and professionalism!!! Thank you David and I would recomend you and the company to any of my friends and family...

I went to City Locksmith to put an alarm system on my mother's home. My mother is not technically inclined, so we needed something sophiscated, but easy enough for her to use. City Locksmith was very informative of the different options and mechanisms we could use to secure the home. My mother now sleeps at night with ease knowing she is secure. The process in setting up the system was easy and included friendly staff. I would highly recommend this company for all your locksmith needs. Prices are excellent and affordable!

They do a very good job cutting/making keys and are very fast. Never had a problem with any of the keys they have made for me. Only negative I have is that they have very bad parking on site. The parking is always full for some reason, even though there doesn't seem to be any other customers inside. And there is no where else to park around/near the building. Even when I drive by and they are closed, the parking has a lot of cars in it for some reason. Other than that I recommend them.

I was a walk in and was immediately greeted by David and his kind smile his words were, you are welcome to browse and if you need any assistance please feel free to ask, I needed a FOB for my Chrysler 200s he immediately found me one programmed it and cut the key, the service was amazing and the store was so clean and organized, the price was very good. I was very please to get my key/FOB/Transponder cut and programmed the other day by City Security. They were very quick to get the job done when I arrived and pricing was competitive when I checked other providers, almost half price compared to the Subaru dealer. I would have given a 5 Star but after driving away I noticed 2 large scratches in my leather wrapped steering wheel which were likely done when the technician was in the vehicle programming.

City locksmith is by far the most professional, friendliest staff and without exaggeration the best locksmith company we have had the pleasure of doing business with.They were efficient, knowledgeable, personable and are over all just very pleased with them! My house was robbed not too long ago, I contacted City locksmith and few other companies searching for monitoring company to install and monitor my house. City Locksmith stood out compare to the others due to the professional in home consultations no pressure they were able to work within my budget, within 24hrs all the equipment's was installed and activated. All I can say excellent service definitely will recommend to family and friends.

I locked myself out so unfortunately I needed to call for a locksmith service. I chose City Locksmith to come help me get into my home and they told me they will have a technician there in about 40 minutes. I waited for about an hour and a half, however the technician did not show up. I was very frustrated and disappointed with this so I decided to call a different Locksmith which actually came in 20 minutes. City Locksmith wasted my time!

Technician Bilo came out to unlock my car for me, As i locked the keys in on a cold night. He showed up quickly after knowing the circumstances it was cold and no tim hortons near by. Let me sit in his truck and warm up while unlocked my car. Was very reasonable with the price, Explained to me how to prevent it from occuring again. Great service will defnitely be going back for future key/security needs

Called inquiring about a key fob for my car,they asked for my phone number and said someone was to call back,no one called,next morning drive out there from Carleton Place,young lady asked me to come back at nine,went back waiting ,at nine thirty someone showed up and acting like I wasn’t even there,as being a business owner myself customers our everything,well guess someone else will get my business

Will never go back for anything. Was told it would cost 165 plus tax. Then when I went back to pick up my keys I was told 240 plus tax. After arguing they said fine we will just keep the keys, which I supplied to be programmed. Ended up paying but will never return nor will I ever refer them for anything. Was also told it would take 30 minutes and it ended up taking 2 hours.

City Locksmith saved the day! We were locked out of our house at 4:30 and called. We were told a locksmith would call at 5:40. We were so grateful when the Locksmith showed up at 5:19! What they didn’t know was we were locked out with a 3.5 month old, 9 year old and a dog in 29 degree heat. The technician was so delightful and professional. Thank you so much!!!

I had been refer to this business by my mechanic and i found them very professional and fair. They reprogram my remote which have been quote in dealer for $120 and one hour job. At city lock Auto they fix it in 15 minute for the cost of $35. They are very friendly and professional very neat place and im giving them 5 star good luck with your business.

Hi, I just wanted to say thank you to the automotive technician for helping my father about a week ago with the remote for the car starter. He has a 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport and has been to Hyundai dealership and another automotive electrical place and quoted hundreds of dollars but you diagnosed the problem and gave him a new remote and it works!

Could not have asked for better service. Was able to get an appointment within a day. Most companies give you a all day or a morning or afternoon window. They told us between 9 and 10 and called at 9:30 to confirm on the way. Repair to lock was done quickly and on budget and looks and works great. Would use this company again without hesitation.

In an epic boneheaded move, I locked my keys in the car while it was running. Ouch. I had heard about City Locksmith through a colleague and was put in touch with this company. They came out to my car and successfully unlocked it. They were absolutely great about it. Quick service. Very friendly and highly reliable. Call these guys!

They charged me $11.99 + tax to cut a mailbox key. Funny thing is that the guy cutting the key saying that is expensive because is Canada post community mail box. You can buy a blank key for 3.99 at home hardware ( and if you buy online and in bulk it is $0.99). They charged you as much as they can. Do not recommend this company.

got a simple spare key for 16$ plus tax that when checked by eye with the original did not seem right from the start. when question they stated that the key is good until i went home to prove me right crocked people don't go there despite the flashy commercials at the door steps

Went in to get a new key for my car and they assured me that they could do so. Went in first time and key didn't fit. Went in a second time where they tried to charge me again for a key; didn't work when I got home. Waste of time and money and won't be returning.

Old Mercedes key programming took a full day and a half and cost 240$ , we called around after we found it how much we owed and there are a few places who offered to program the key on site for 140$,
