Coco and the Director is my favorite coffee shop in Charlotte! The staff is super friendly and helpful, and the coffee is amazing. They have a wide selection of drinks and food, from lattes and smoothies to sandwiches and pastries. The pastries are delivered fresh from a local French bakery every morning, and they are delicious. I especially love the banana bread and the croissants. The coffee shop has a cozy and modern vibe, with plenty of seating options. They have a loft-style second level, a stadium seating area, and a co-lab space for local makers and community collaboration. The location is also great, right in the heart of Uptown, inside the Marriott Hotel. I highly recommend Coco and the Director to anyone who loves coffee and good vibes. 5 stars!

Nice coffee spot in a uptown Charlotte. Attached to the Marriott, you can access this shop from trade street or from inside the hotel. Coffee is good — and the baristas take their time in making well-balanced drinks. Some of the flavored lattes are overly sweet — such as the cinnamon / brown sugar options, so you may want to ask for light flavor. There is nice seating options — some are “upstairs”, or you can sit in the hotel or business office atrium. Easy spot for a meeting uptown — if you’re walking; cannot imagine parking is convenient or affordable (if you parked with the hotel).

coffee = strong and tasty ... that's expected. The pastries are always fresh in the morning. But, it's the service that really takes it to the next level. I work downtown tues/thurs and genuinely look forward to stopping in and seeing all of the staff; who are cheerful, pleasant and full of energy even at 7am. Sally, who is usually on the register, is a rockstar. I always take my clients to stop by for coffee when they are in Charlotte to experience it too - perfect for casual meetings.

Stopped in while traveling through Charlotte. Great atmosphere and vibes. You could come here to collaborate/work with others and sign up for a spot downstairs or find yourself going through the layered step platforms which were designed perfectly. Great coffee and superb friendly service. We even dabbled in some of the fresh brewed loose leaf lemon ginger tea. Group favorites include the breakfast sandwiches and muffins and ice’d mocha. Eclectic and worth the stop!

We had an exceptional experience at this coffee shop, and what made it stand out was the fact that it wasn't part of a chain. The beautiful decor, good coffee, and friendly staff added to the charm. While the cronut didn't quite live up to the hype, all the other pastries were fantastic. Interestingly, the coffee shop is located in the Marriott lobby, making it a unique find. The place was very clean, and the restroom facilities are within the Marriott, ensuring convenience.

Pretty much just stopped here on a whim. We closed out the Discovery Place Science. We didn't have much to do until much later in the evening and were in the mood for a snack. We saw this spot as we walked and we just gave it a try. Good thing we did. We really enjoyed our drinks and pastries. The ☕ coffee and scone were , they were my favorite. The ambiance was cool, pretty laid back despite being dead smack inside inside a business/financial building. Prices were up to par with everything else in the area. The staff was friendly. Definitely a must try.

Love this place. If I lived in Charlotte I would hang out here all the time. They are connected to the Marriot hotel and it was very convenient. The atmosphere was very inviting and comfortable. They even have meeting space In the back. The service was very friendly and helpful with menus selections. The coffee was really good. I tried two of their cronuts and they were amazing. I tried the cinnamon and the chocolate and wanted to buy a box and take them home with me they were so good. I would definitely come here again.

Would give 4 stars based on wait time and ease of the experience but the pastries and coffee were definitely 5/5 and the staff were nice. We ordered two pour overs, the blueberry muffin, and the donut cronut. Doesn’t seem like only a take-out place but they didn’t ask if it was for here or to-go and I couldn’t eat the cronut donut out of the large box so we had to ask for a plate. We were told the pour overs would take 5 minutes, not a big deal at all but it took 18 minutes . Worth the wait but room for improvement.

I’ve been here a few times to work, I like to sit upstairs. They have a lot of space and seating options. The atmosphere is cool- Good for individuals and groups, work or social. I had their bacon egg and cheese breakfast croissant, I didn’t get a picture because I ate it, it was really good! Their coffee is tasty also, lots of options.

This coffee shop is the absolute cutest. Latte with sugar free hazelnut was perfect! Sausage, egg and cheese English muffin was sooo good!! Fresh made to order eggs. I love the different seating areas in here, and sections. There’s an area with pillow seats, and another side with lounge chairs and tables. Really enjoyed our coffee and breakfast. Baristas we’re also so friendly and nice!! Will be back.

I love this place for the ambience. Coco and the Director has an atmosphere that encourages people to come in and sit for a while. The staff is always friendly and right outside of coco is another sitting area in the Marriott hotel. It's simply an awesome place. You can have coffee or a variety of beers here. The one negative is everything is awfully expensive. There are bottles of water that are as high as $8 bucks. This still remains one of the best kept secrets in Charlotte.

  • Stina T

Cronut tasted pretty good, the coffee was a bit too sweet. Service wasn‘t really friendly. I ordered a latte with almond milk but when I saw the server make it with normal milk, I reminded her that I ordered almond milk and she just made the same coffee with normal milk again?!? It is also pretty overpriced.

Great location and atmosphere. Pricey but expected with location being in the city. If you are staying at the Marriott, there is access from within. Would have given 5 stars if service was more efficient (long lines) and ability to customize breakfast sandwiches (basically warm pre-made and give to you). Cronuts were the highlight!

Amazing interior design in this coffee house; one of the best I have seen anywhere. Unfortunately no warm breakfast options were available as they did not have a cook for the day. Their sandwich warmer was broken. Otherwise 5/5 coffee spot.

Really nice place!! Very cozy. The coffee was good, the cronut was good, even though it was coated with too much sugar, the banana bread was delicious. It was a great way to start our morning.

This spot is a GEM. I was in the city staying at the Marriot for a few days and decided to give this cute coffee shop a try - I am so glad I did! The coffee was great and Sally was delightful at the register. She made my whole day. I can't wait to come back to try the pastries!

For anyone that cares about their coffee the latte was just not good. way too much foam with air bubbles. Espresso was bitter and since it was not busy so definitely expected more. On top of that if I’m Paying $5.17 for a small I want it to be good. Would suggest the 5 min walk to not just coffee inside 7th street market.

  • Wilson Tsang

I wandered in here waiting to check into my hotel and I marveled at the aesthetic inside, it’s built very nicely and clean. The drinks were solid, service was fast and efficient. They have like a staircase with seating alongside, as well as many tables for you to choose and enjoy. I would definitely come back again!

  • Chris Guella

This place at least to me is pretty new. What a neat little coffee shop with plenty of places to sit and enjoy their wellcrafted drinks. Right in the middle of the city I really like this place it will be back for sure. On this day I had a chai te latte but others enjoyed their other coffee drinks. Recommend. More

My cousin said the coffee wasn't good. The architecture and design are really cool but the seating options are uncomfortable. I liked that most people were there to work but the place was way too loud. Most of the their lighting comes from the windows so it's too dark on raining days.

Great atmosphere, the macchiato was delicious, and the croissant too! If you need coffee and a snack, you know where to go. The espresso roast isn't bitter the way most American places are these days, and that may be because of the Italian feel.

If you’re looking for somewhere to get a light breakfast in Charlotte, you’ve found your place. The cronuts are amazing and the coffee is just too easy to drink. Nice open, airy cafe with an unusual terrace option for seating gives it a memorable feel. If I were a local I’d be here regularly

  • Federico Pizzuto

Very cool place but their coffee wasn’t the best! It is for sure a very nice atmosphere and environment… however, they could do better with the quality of easy products. Their cold brew was very average

*Updated Review* Changing my review to a 4-Star as the owner is on top of things and trying to make it right. Nice atmosphere, coffee was just okay, and service was lacking. Was hoping for a swanky coffee shop with nice coffee design as their website shows, Here's what I got...

  • Benjamin Froelich

Wish there was an equivalent to this in South End. Great coffee and a good divergence from the classic southern industrial vibes of Charlotte. Will be coming back. Great for studying, meeting with someone, killing time etc

Saw this place online while looking at local reviews and decided to try the cinnamon doughnut. It was tasty but expensive! $6.50 to be exact. This is big enough to split between two people for something light with coffee. I would recommend trying it despite the steep price.

Great spot for a sandwich and coffee! We stopped in for breakfast and were not disappointed in the least. The coffee is very good; I typically just drink it black and this has a ton of taste. I didn’t do a sandwich but my wife did and she really enjoyed it. Check it out!

  • Cecy Piemonte

The pastries were delicious and amazing atmosphere. Very calm and soothing. The service was very nice. The pour over coffee takes a lot longer than I'm used to, but tasted good. Cannot express how good the pastries were. Highly recommend the Mexican chocolate.

  • Kat Pittman

Such a fun coffee shop! Lots of unique places to get seated for work or a conversation over coffee. The platform steps and cushions are so fun! Coffee was declined and despite busy line moved very quick!

Place is fantastic. Very comfortable environment and easy to relax. Coffee was great too as they had a huge selection from your average everyday mocha to house specials. Coffee shop is directly connected to a hotel and provides for great lounge space.

  • Kendall Clark Almaguer

Amazing! Excellent place for co-working or meeting with colleagues. The coffee was fantastic! Loved all the large tables they had to encourage either community seating or meeting with colleagues. Will definitely head back here on my next trip. More

Visiting from out of town. Drove into the city just to try this place.. It has taken almost an hour since we arrived to wait in line, place order, and now still waiting on food/drinks. At 10am on a Sunday. Just writing this to let others

We have waited over a year to try this place and let me tell you, ITS NOT A LETDOWN. The donut is amazing. The coffee is warm and the service was super helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing. We will definitely be back

This is a super cool coffee shop downtown! The interior is modern and cozy, lots of wood and black metal, ambient lighting, and different seating areas. I didn’t get any food, but saw they had a sandwich station, in addition to serving

  • Cory Funk

The coffee is a bit thin, though no signs of astringency. Really cool space with nice people behind the bar. Probably a bit overpriced, but really good spot to hang out.
