"Pretty nice selection of books! A bit cramped and the prices were also a bit high"
"Delightful! If you are a book addict, comme moi, I highly recommend a stroll through Codex"
"I had a lovely date today picking up an old Austen edition in this bookstore and grabbing coffee at Think (right around the corner) :) For such a small space, I was thoroughly impressed by the foreign language selection in this establishment"
"Codex Bookstore is a used bookstore that is worth a visit if you’re nearby"
Wandered into this tiny little store while walking down bleecker street on a rainy day. The owner (?) was friendly and had a thorough knowledge of the books on his shelves. He offered some recommendations that I'm excited to check out. Lots of secondhand books from well known authors in the western canon, from Gogol to Junot Diaz.
Pretty nice selection of books! A bit cramped and the prices were also a bit high. Also the same annoying song was playing on a loop for some reason, but what matters is that I walked away with a nice first edition with promo materials and I also got two neat postcards. Worth the visit if you love literature.
Delightful! If you are a book addict, comme moi, I highly recommend a stroll through Codex. Visiting from Canada, I was in search of anything Anthony Trollope and found 3 beauties on the clean and very organized shelves. Happiness! And thank you, Josh, for the peppy conversation! I will definitely be back.
I had a lovely date today picking up an old Austen edition in this bookstore and grabbing coffee at Think (right around the corner) :) For such a small space, I was thoroughly impressed by the foreign language selection in this establishment. The store also stocks independent creative zines in the back.
Codex Bookstore is a used bookstore that is worth a visit if you’re nearby. The staff is friendly and kind. However, the store is small and the selection of books is underwhelming compared to other bookstores in the area like Strand or East Village Books. That being said, the prices are affordable.
I usually love this bookstore, but I visited today right at when it was supposed to be opening. The website and Google say they are open at 12 everyday. I stayed for twenty minutes and no one showed up. There is no posting of their hours if they changed. It's frustrating!
I love this place they always have the strangest books but still get orders of all the new content I want. Newer books can be priced a little high but so great for used books. Top two books I’ve bought here are One Hundred Poets, One Poem Each and Astrology in the Vedas.
Found this place through Synchronicities. Saw the Debra Harry mural , then the shop. I love Philip K Dick and there was a hard cover copy of "Galactic Pot-Healer" in the window. They had only been open a week !! I will return promptly. Good stuff on Spirituality. ~:)<333
Pretty rude young lady staff member interaction when I tried to drop off my books. Also laughably low prices offered (50 cents for good condition popular books). I was fine to just donate the books but let’s not be mean about the interaction.
Imagine the private library of Elon Musk and Phillip Roth. Codex has a meticulously curated selection of books for the connoisseur of both literary masterpieces and sophisticated guilty pleasures. A place where any literate person will find
I stumbled across this bookshop one day and was instantly charmed! There are a lot of books in this little shop! Reasonably priced used books are my favorite kind and I hit the jackpot here. I heard friendly conversations among regulars and
One of my favorite bookstores in NYC. Primarily used / vintage books with a small new book selection. You can also sell old books for credit towards your purchase. Great way to discover new authors all while supporting an independent store
One of my favorite pastimes is to visit used bookstores and browse for a book to add to my reading queue. I came upon Codex by chance on a rainy day and stopped in. There is a great selection of books here for lovers of modern classics,
I like this book store, only been there a few times, but the last time i went i bought a book for a dollar and in great condition outside in the front of the store and inside looked like it was a pretty decent size to have room and look
Great selection of second hand books, very well curated. International/foreign section with French, Spanish books. Chandler, Houellbecq traducted Also books on music, art and films. A small place, a treasure chest. Interesting library !
Great little used books store, nicely attached toa coffee shop. Awesome SciFi section, given how modest the size of this book store is. In general, the books are well organized by genre on each shelf.
Small but cute book store connecting to the coffee shop next door with a great collection of philosophy books and other genres as well. Definitely will revisit if I’m in the area again!
Awesome assortment of secondhand books, one of my favorite curations of fiction offered in New York City. A bunch of steals both inside and on the 1$ stand outside. Seek this spot out
A hidden gem. This secondhand bookstore has a great collection of classics and interesting books. Literature section and especially philosophy section has many important titles.
I walked pass by chance of this store. It is cozy second hand bookshop with various kind of books for your selection. I got, Joan Miró book, from art section.
One of the better used bookshops in NYC today. Prices are fair, and you can find some real gems if you spend a little time browsing the well-stocked shelves.
I’ve found great stuff there. Brought them a big bag of books today, they took less than half, gave me $16 store credit (alt 10 cash) and I donated the rest
Amazing store, full of classics, literature and amazing art books. Staff is very knowledgeable, and the store is well curated especially for a small space.
Tiny lil bookstore with loads to choose from. Selection was pretty standard fare for the city but was really a treat to find a few gems.
Last time i came to NYC i got 2 books here. It's a relatively small book shop but the selection is good and the prices are fair.
Clean and friendly. Though the books look like they need to be organized. The book space is small, but it is connected to a cafe
A little pricey on some used books (~$10 range) but on the other hand their range of art books is quite interesting & relevant
Great bookstore, but some materials are overpriced even if some of them are not in the best conditions due to age
You can find rare copies of books here and it's a treat to spend your weekend browsing and reading.
Small but full of good books new and old. The store had some original first editions of books.
The best small bookstore collection I’ve ever seen. They could use more cordial staff though
Lovely, down to earth book store. Josh (owner) is incredibly insightful and friendly.
My favorite used bookstore in nyc. Small, but always something interesting there
Amazing selection. I found two old used books that I wanted very much.
Great selection of $1 books outside the front of the store.
A tiny gem. As interesting a collection as it is small..
Fun bookstore with a good size section of $1oks
Amazing bookstore with hard to find gems.
This book nook really turns me on, man.
Amazing selection and prices
