"Arrive at the consulate and a polite security guard will make you wait in the lobby downstairs till it's 15 minutes before you appointment so don't come earlier"
"Nice, clean well organized place"
"I am trying to call them for a whole week! Nobody is answering the phone, after you are waiting on hold, you get the answer “we are sorry, but we are very busy at the moment, please call again later” we’ll I did! A whole week! And if you try to make an appointment online, you have a waiting period of 2 months!! This clearly shows, that they are massively understaffed in a state that is full with Germans OR the current staff is not working (German bureaucracy) I can just hope, that this will change someday and I can change my review"
"Sylvia Davis is amazing! From the very beginning she was clear and concise as to what was required of me (document wise)"
You can only enter the embassy exactly 15 minutes before your appointment. Then you have to go through security. People say not to bring a bag with you, but I saw plenty of people with purses in the waiting room. One person even had a backpack. If you’re like me and have to drive 5 hours to reach Miami, then please leave super early. The traffic in the mornings is awful. Do not risk being late to your appointment, then you won’t be able to schedule a new one. Once you’re there, you go to floor 22. If you are applying for a visa then make sure you have 2 German sized visa photos with you. I am not sure if they allow you to take pictures there. Once you’re in the waiting room, you are given a number. When your number is called, you go up to a booth and present your documents. If you are applying for a visa then you need 2 copies of every document you have. MAKE 2 COPIES. The Miami embassy will keep one copy of everything and send the rest to Germany. If you are like me and you’re going to be a freelance English teacher in Germany, then please make sure you have 2 copies of everything. Sometimes they are nice enough to print something for you, but they may tell you to visit a print shop in town if you are missing something. If you get to your appointment and you are missing a document then just go to “Minit print” you can walk there from the embassy in 8 minutes. They allowed me to print 34 pages for $5. Minit print only accepts cash or you can use the app “cashapp”. There is parking across from the embassy but they charge you by the hour. Plan to stay for a long time if you are applying for a visa. I am writing this review because the other reviews on here don’t really say much. Please like if this was helpful!
Arrive at the consulate and a polite security guard will make you wait in the lobby downstairs till it's 15 minutes before you appointment so don't come earlier. Don't bring bags, it isn't allowed. Only your documents and wallet. Then someone will guide you to an elevator that will take you up to the 22nd floor. There you will be greeted by polite security who will check your application form and photo and passport briefly and give you a number. Remember, this will be your token number so get to him fast to be first. You will then be requested to go into the immigration room. Once there, place documents into security tray and pass through the security scanner(similar to airport). It is a smallish room with only 3 counters and you wait for your token number to be called. Depending on the purpose of your visit, the officer will politely request for all documents. Please be careful to consider which copies of your documents have to be notarized or not. You will be sent back if they are not notarized as required on their website. The officers are very nice and will help you in case you forgot to sign something or print something and you have the original document to print. I'm giving my experience 3 stars only because their biometric system gave up and I waited for 3 hours. My appointment was at 10:30 but was only seen at 12:45 and left at 1:20. They spend a decent amount of time (20-45 minutes)) with each applicant which is good when it's you.
Nice, clean well organized place. Courteous and professional service. phone service is good, web site good and informative( although they should update their processing times) Parking is expensive, but that comes with the location.Metro mover station is near by ( for after corona times, lol). Easy appointments on line. Puzzled by some negative comments here. The consulate is a government office and they have to follow the rules, the leeway consulates used to have in distant past is largely gone. I have experienced far worse bureaucracy in Germany itself than on this consulate. And the visa applicants? You have to visit some of the US consulates abroad to see how a hostile treatment looks like. Read carefully their info, call if you are not sure about something, get all the paperwork needed and you will be okay.

Sylvia Davis is amazing! From the very beginning she was clear and concise as to what was required of me (document wise). She helped me make an appointment and really seemed to care. The process of obtaining my German passport has been stressful ONLY because of my urgent situation. However, Miss Davis made the process much easier. She was kind and completely understanding of my situation. I am so thankful for all of the team's help! They responded quickly to emails and always answered the phone. I wish I could give 10 stars!
Very professional and friendly! How wonderful and nice I was treated! Even my appointment was made only a short time before, this lady taking care of me was incredible fast and efficient. The building is under construction, but it was early in the morning, got a parking space in the center, right in front of the building. $ 3.50/hr. They charge $7.00 for the first 2 hours, credit card payment possible with your license plate number, also cash.
It was a very pleasant experience! We parked directly across the street from the Consulate. From the time I walked in, the front desk crew immediately told me the process. The security guard took us to where we needed to go and was very funny along the way. The young Lady that processed my Reisepass application was very friendly and since I had everything I needed ready, I was done very quickly. I give them a 10 out of 10!
The worst customer service I've ever seen, specially from Sylvia Davis. Instead of helping you with your issue, she makes it more difficult and also just want to get rid of you. Saying "Was auch immer, machen Sie was Sie wollen und legen Sie auf." The worst German Consulat I have ever been to, poor service.
What a wonderful experience I have had at the German Consulate in Miami! Excellent, Professional, Knowledgeable, Friendly staff with very great communication! Beautifully situated in downtown Miami and it is a very secure clean facility!!! Thank you so much for your amazing service!!! Svetlana.
The staff here are very helpful. Went to do my paternity acknowledgement for my daughter who was born and lives and Germany and they helped me every step of the way of the process. One of the best German consulate I've been too and they offer a wide variety of services.
It was a good experience. I came 15 minutes earlier. So I had to wait for my appointment at 9:15. Checked in with the guards no problem at all. Was no wait. Just make sure you got the right password with pictures with no teeth shown lol. Otherwise wonderful!
I have never dealt with things like getting a passport. I am 22 and the last passport I had was from when I was a child. I had gathered all the documents on their list and after almost being late due to terrible Miami traffic the security
I was going to Germany for an academic conference. I presented the documents including a statement from my health insurance company that the medical emergencies are covered under my policy at the Miami Consulate. The lady at the consulate
They were extremely efficient in processing my visa. I had sent out an email asking them if I could avail the "in-mail" visa services as my fingerprints were already taken twice before. A lady from the consulate called me back and assured
Wow, if I could give zero stars I absolutely would. This place is a joke, they barely work, they don't answer the phone, they don't answer emails, they have no answers to any questions, they don't answer the phone, the hide behind glass.
This is by far the worst experience I have had with basic paperwork. I had to come here three times from central Florida to get a simple travel visa only to be confronted with a phone line that doesn’t work and an unknowing staff that
The consulate employee was extremely friendly but she made a few mistakes that forced us to drive 5 hours there and 5 hours back home a second time. Unfortunately we did not need to go at all. The first trip there was based on me
The security staff is great. The rest: German bureaucracy at it's best. Rude, lots of paper, complicated. Oh and they charge absurd processing fees.
Oh what an experience. We were in and out so quickly, everyone was so friendly and helpful. Absolutely cozy place as well. Thank you!
Quick and easy. Done in 12 minutes and is super friendly.
