I recently had the pleasure of visiting Continental Deli ( We call it the BURFEE PALACE- Sweetmeats Fit For The Gods !) located at 109 Mathews Meyiwa Rd, Windermere, Durban, 4001, and I must say it exceeded my expectations. As a food lover, I was seeking high-quality meats, freshly baked goods, and a diverse selection of deli products, and this place delivered on all fronts. Upon entering the establishment, I was immediately drawn to the warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff greeted me with a friendly smile and were incredibly knowledgeable about their products. It was evident that Continental Deli takes pride in their offerings, as every item seemed carefully selected. The butcher section showcased an impressive array of meats. From tender cuts of beef to succulent poultry, I was spoilt for choice. The quality was exceptional, and the butchers were more than happy to assist me in choosing the perfect cuts for my needs. The freshness and flavor of the meats were evident in every bite, and it was clear that Continental Deli pays close attention to sourcing top-notch products. Moving on to the bakery section, the aroma of freshly baked goods filled the air. The display was a feast for the eyes, with an assortment of artisanal bread, pastries, and treats. I couldn't resist trying their freshly baked baguettes, and they did not disappoint. The crust was perfectly golden and crisp, while the inside was soft and flavorful. It was evident that their bakers possess great skill and passion for their craft. Lastly, the deli section was a treasure trove of culinary delights. From a variety of imported cheeses to carefully cured meats and olives, I was delighted by the extensive selection. It was evident that Continental Deli takes pride in offering a diverse range of gourmet products, catering to the tastes of their discerning customers. Overall, my experience at Continental Deli was outstanding. The combination of high-quality meats, freshly baked goods, and a wide variety of deli products makes it a haven for food enthusiasts like myself. The dedication of the staff to providing exceptional customer service was evident throughout my visit. If you're a food lover in search of an exceptional culinary experience, I highly recommend visiting Continental Deli. With its roots as a small family-owned establishment, it has grown into a beloved destination that consistently delivers on quality and flavor. Whether you're looking for top-grade meats, delectable baked goods, or gourmet deli products, Continental Deli is sure to exceed your expectations.
Hmmm.... the word that came to mind when I visited this place for the first time today was “fresh” not a word one would generally associate with a butchery, but this place can be the exception. Upon entry one is greeted with a display of decadent delights in the form of traditional sweet meats. One would be forgiven to think that this was only for display but the giveaway is the tongs and a stack of medium sized cake boxes. We entered into the somewhat smallish eating area/restaurant with no attention from any staff and found ourselves sitting at an 8 seater table. After still not receiving any attention I decided to walk over to the counter to establish the protocol to order some bites. In no time a waitress attended to our needs. While waiting for the prep, I decided to explore and found myself at the other end off the establishment at where the food gets prepared. I was greeted by the man in charge who was more than accommodating when I explain the whole google local guide review and graciously allowed pics to be taken. I found out that Continental moved into this area 5 years ago. The smell of freshly baked bread reminded me that I was indeed in need of sustenance and I got back to my table ate my breakfast wrap and went on a small shop over in the butchery section. Got a chance to sample their jalapeño chicken wors which I ended up buying. All-in-all and great place, well laid out and an excellent variety to choose from whether it’s just a nibble or something to bust your hunger, this place is well worth the visit. Con... well parking is always a sticky issue in most places Durban but a little patience and alls well.
Had an amazing experience. The Juma (Friday) lunch was absolutely scrumptious and one of the very very few places that I ate dhall ghos, that was so deliciously prepared. The meat inside was of gigantic proportions, exactly the way should be!!. The rice was soft and fluffy, accompanied by all The tasty accompaniments. The biryani was deeelish as well!!! Anyway that was just the lunch, I have had their Burgers previously, the flatbread and pizza. All freshly made and ready to indulge. The sweetmeats are my favourite indulgence!!! I could survive on them for days!!!. Their quality and standards are stil as consistent as they always have been since their very small shop on Ridge road that used to love visiting. The cold Meats are excellent and their Kassegrille is legendary. Many have tried to copy what Continental has mastered. All in all an amazing stop this upcoming break!!!
Known for their remarkable service to all clients and loyal Patrons on a daily basis. Providing one of the best sweetmeats in Durban. Kzn. Now offering Breakfast on both Saturdays (9am to 12pm) & Sundays (9am to 1pm) fantastic Butchery area and quality meats priced at affordable rates. They also have a Deli area, it's a must. As well as a Bakery that prepares superior fresh products daily. What a fantastic and friendly owner and staff. Please visit if you haven't already been there.

Excellent Sunday Buffet Breakfast. Great value for money. Runs late, into Lunch time, all the sleepyheads that breakfast at noon. Rwct of facilities are looking a little disorganized like the abandoned ice cream area and equipment in view near butcher. May benefit from some screening if these are not being used soon/being reworked. The "drive around the block" entrance means it's not a quick duck "in and out" but lots of parking and security make up for this. Need to try the coffee.
Please can you start to put prices on your baking items so your customers dung have to be startled at the till point with a ridiculously high bill .I have requested this previously over a year ago and to date you haven't done it as yet. Please query prices before you settle on your items, don't get a shock as we did.
While I was shopping today I decided to have a shawarma. I had the tikka one without chips. It was so delicious. Hit all the spots - took me back home and around the world. The pita was made fresh in the pizza oven. I also had freshly squeezed OJ. You guys should get onto Mr D and Uber.
If I lived in Durban, I would not shop anywhere else! Great coffee, and freshly fried samosas. Going back next time for their house breakfast, weekdays, 9-11am, it's the alu fry and dahl that appeals to me! Friendly, kind and informative service. Real family business, a gem.
A quaint little place in a popular location. The Pies are to die for, and is the only reason I frequent here. However, it's well-stocked with an array of deli meats, savouries and sweet treats. I would just like to see the staff with smiling faces and a friendlier demeanor.
Good variety of food and baked goods and well as meat in their butchery, as well as snacks and baked goods. Onsite restaurant for sit in dining. Food is fresh. Parking outside is convenient. Not the cheapest but they use quality ingredients.
Really nice stuff. Not for you if you are a diabetic (too many temptations). Prices are high. Parking is not always available and there cab be a line. The restaurant has a buffet on Fridays we check I suggest. The bakery is also wonderful.
Great range of freshly baked goods. People love their breads. I love their soft fluffy Pitas and their Turkish bagels. Their koeksisters are a firm favourite and milk tarts too. Wide range of sweets chocolates and frozen goods. Big Baked
Second time I’ve purchased baked items from here and the it was stale. After the first time I thought maybe I should give it another chance but it’s seems to be consistent with this place. They are okay with leaving stale items in the
The most amazing breakfast buffet for R150pp. They top up constantly. And the waitresses are very sweet. The rest of the store is pricey. I just found the lady in parda/niqaab very unfriendly and rude.
I always buy my Diwali Sweetmeats at Continental. Delicious, Tasty. Good variety. Appealing to the eye. Pleasant staff. Available parking. Clean..

Always been a big supporter of continental, however, the last few times I went to have a sit down meal I was disappointed. The a/c was not working and the restaurant area reeked of gas and some other
Tried the buffet today and except for the filter coffee which was weak and unremarkable, the rest of the food and drinks were all good.

Had the great pleasure of eating their breakfast buffet. It was a delicious flavourful journey for my tastebuds. Their platters had a wide variety of dishes from lamb paya (trottes) mince
Used to be one of my faves but was disappointed by my meal today. My penne pasta was basically mash. Not sure how they could even serve it! Very disappointing.
Food was really yummy, and just what we were craving. And you can get shop for all you groceries before you leave. Their bakery section is quite good also.
Great family friendly bakery and takeaway. Good Halaal hotel-style buffet breakfasts over the weekend. Sadly no mugs for the tea but smaller teacups.
The butter chicken pies are delicious, and I will definitely go back there. Very good service, friendly and helpful staff.
I visited after a very long time! Got me some delicious heat and eat goodies! Friendly staff and clean environment …
Sunday traditional eastern breakfast buffet. Variety of curries, eggs, muffins, teas and coffee. Very busy so go early.
We've had better experiences with other Bakeries. Abit on the pricy side, Not sure what's the hype about
Love the coffee here.. also the deli foods are fresh and tasty. A variety of baking available instore..
Always a pleasure to shop at Continental. Sunday buffet breakfast is excellent and highly recommend.
