Just wanted to write a quick review. Been here several times of the last year or so and every time I go I leave thinking "the people who work here are so nice". Today I was there and helped by a younger guy who is often there---wish I knew his name. While I was being helped a young guy walked in and said "hey. I filled out an application a few days ago and wanted to come in and see if the manager saw the application" or something like that. I was impressed how good the Crafty Beaver staff guy was with the job-seeker. He was polite to him as he was to me. He told the job-seeker that the manager could talk to him in a minute. Must be from the top down because the manager was there too and I could see he had a good relationship with his staff. And they always seem to have what I need in their inventory.

Ok what can I say about this place for one is on central n montrose the only hardware store big around here now u can go to old ace hardware n over pay or run to home depot FYI it's kinda far too go to homedepot . But this place has one thing lowes or homedepot or even ace don't got ... these people know tool and hardware super helpful wen asked about things not like other stores who hire kids who don't know tools .. look give this spot a chance go here I been going here for years now and was never letdown.. built this with crafty beaver supplies

Maybe it's nostalgia but I really love this place. Before the big box home improvement stores there were hardware stores, lumber yards, and the paint store. Then Crafty Beaver came along and combined it all while still keeping a family owned feel to it. They'll have most of what you'll need for basic home repairs and small to medium remodeling at a fair price, and you won't feel like you're giving your money to Big Business. If you haven't been, you should check them out.

What a nice hardware store. So glad this is near the new house. I especially like having people able to help me find things, as opposed to wandering around the big warehouse stores from aisle to aisle ad nauseum. Friendly staff. One gentleman even tracked me down to tell me he had directed me to the wrong aisle. It was only one aisle different and he was conscientious enough to follow up. What service!

Staff is very friendly and helpful. They are very knowledgeable as well. The only issue I have is the wood cutting. Had to return a few pieces of plywood and get them recut. Also, the cuts were not great as it looks like the blade they used is not in the best shape. I would definitely come here again but I don't think I'll be paying for wood cutting here in the future.

Really good lumber selection and a great local hardware shop for anything you need, I like to stop here before making the trek to a busy Home Depot or Menards. There’s always someone eager to help and answer questions from painting to law care to venting questions! Anytime I go there with a question they offer a solid answer and a couple solutions for my problem.

Friendly, helpful staff - usually have what I need on the fly. But look - when the yard crew is trained to sight your lumber - hat's off - this might be the only spot left around that does this - but maybe they know I'm going to do it anyway. You can't make straight out of warped... true 'dat...

Great local place to go for anything you need for projects around the house. We walk over whenever we need wood, want to put up shelves or any other weekend projects. The staff is really helpful and knowledgeable on everything from construction to cleaning tips. Highly recommend!

The staff here are friendly and helpful. The store is well laid out with a little bit of everything you'd want to find in a local hardware store. Prices are kept pretty on point too. And you can even find straight 2x4s there too! Try doing that at the orange store.

Local Chicago hardware chain based in Skokie. I use it regularly. Decent selection for a non-national chain. The staff is knowledgeable. Prices are fair. They carry high end tools and beginner tools. Good hours and ready parking.

My first time at a lumber store and I am very impressed and pleased they’re so awesome! Quality service and quality merchandise what more can you ask for? Also I can’t forget YES they are female friendly so ladies no worries.

The store on Central Avenue has had a makeover in which they now have many household items as well as hardware and home decor items not just a lumber yard. Friendly service and plenty of parking and they open at 7:00 a.m..

Great local neighborhood hardware store. Friendly service where you can even get diy advice. Can't always find what your looking for and prices are a little more, but its to be expected with big box competition.

Love this place, usually has everything I need and then some. I have found things there that home depot didn't have. I take care of two disabled people and live less than 5 minutes away, keep up the good work.
