I am never a person to complain but i was extremely disappointed, emotional and hurt - I treated my parents out on Freedom Day as I heard a lot of good things about Culture. We arrived at 12:30 midday - The restaurant was basically empty (only one couple was present at that time). We were not greeted by anyone and after few minutes a waiter approached us and seated us. We placed our starter order at 12:40. started arrived at 1:20pm. We placed our mains order at 1:00pm and only ended up getting the food at 2:25pm. Only 4 of the 6 dishes arrived. We inquired and was told it will be 2 more minutes. After some time we asked again and 10 minutes later the 4 dishes arrived. Two more were still missing (my mum and dad's dishes). We waited 10 minutes and asked them for the third time. They said it was still being plated (22 minutes to plate). We were all done eating and asked for the bill. The waiter was extremely apologetic. I still tipped him. My parents left without having their mains as it was still not ready. What makes it so disappointing is that whilst being there, the restaurant filled up to about 50 more people and every single one of them were served their mains except for us. They all arrived after and our orders were placed first. Just very, very upsetting. The guests belonged to a high performance car club and had arrived in Lamborghini's, Porsche's, McLaren etc so maybe that's why they were prioritized. Besides this horrible experience - place is beautiful and food (what we did eat) was good.
We recently decided to go for dinner at Culture Restaurant. Culture was quite busy when we arrived. We noticed alot of teenagers there. We were asked to sit outside the area where the teenagers were having a 16year birthday party. We refused the seating and asked to be seated elsewhere as the kids were walking in and out constantly. Once we were settled down, we decided to go for the buffet. The menu was mutton curry, roast chicken, pasta, broad bean curry, soya prawn. As an Indian person, we know what curry should taste like and was definitely not impressed by standard of the cooking. The dessert was Soji, this was enjoyable although the cream bowl needed attending to. Unfortunately no dessert bowls were given. No dessert cutlery. At one time there were no Forks and we had to ask the waiter for Forks. There are alot of waiters in Culture but management of the waiters need to be addressed. Whilst we were eating, the teenagers were called to the front to dance. As the teenagers were dancing and being teenagers, some of the older men who were already intoxicated decided it was okay for them to join in the dancing as well. Sitting at my table with my family and being a mum with kids, I found this extremely unsettling as you can see some of the older men eyeing these kids in a very inappropriate way. This experience has left me feeling very uncomfortable and sad. I

I recently had the opportunity to dine at The Culture Restaurant and Lounge and I have to say, it was an amazing experience. From start to finish, everything was top notch. First and foremost, the food was absolutely delicious. I had the bunny chow and it was presented beautifully and tasted even better. The flavors were spot on and I couldn't get enough. The quality of the food was truly impressive. In addition to the amazing food, the staff were exceptionally friendly. From the moment I walked in, they made me feel welcome and attended to my needs promptly throughout the evening. The service was impeccable and it definitely added to the overall experience. The restaurant decor was also a standout. It had a very sleek and modern feel with clean finishes. It was a nice touch and made the restaurant feel upscale and sophisticated. The menu had a great variety of options and the prices were very reasonable. It was definitely one of the best value for money offerings I have seen in a long while. Overall, I would highly recommend The Culture Restaurant and Lounge to anyone looking for top quality food in a comfortable environment. It's a great spot for a date night or a special occasion and I will definitely be returning in the future.

Doesn't even deserve the 1 star I'm giving it Culture lounge. 4 park lane. buffet on a Friday We booked for 2 telephonically on Thursday with Prashaan himself. Needed to add to more people and gave him a call on Friday morning. He said no problem. Send him a watsapp message which I did (pic attached) We arrive there. I took my sis in law for her birthday Was left to stand outside cos they didn't update the booking No apology.... Just its very busy A table was organised for us right at the front of the restaurant Despite it being just under the speaker (we could not hear each other) The restaurant was so packed that it was going to be impossible for anybody to move about Kelvin who is a wonderful waiter. Tried to get us moved This was not approved as per the other owner i think she is. They then wanted to move us again Not a single apology or 'we didn't plan for this correctly' Extremely disappointed we walked out. Birthday celebrations spoiled The manager watched us walk out and I suppose that was just r800 plus drinks so he didn't need to apologize Although the food is good Business owners need to know YOUR BUSINESS IS ONLY AS GOOD AS YOU TREAT YOUR STAFF AND CUSTOMERS!! IT'S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT MONEY
We had the pleasure of having a 69th evening supper for a well respected friend at Culture. The venue has ample seating, is upmarket and boasts modern finishes. It's trendy and suitable for all ages. The menu is a good balance of options and is not overloaded with too much to choose from. Makes life so much easier . Our starters both meat and vegetarian were well served. The mains had sufficient flavouring. Great bar area with many drinks options. Venue was very accommodating. They allowed us to set up a little backdrop with balloons and even allowed us to bring a cake. The managers , staff and owners are very helpful and engaged and although we the venue was not busy they still made an effort to engage. Karaokes night every Wednesday. My Main Meal - Paneer Curry Roti was fresh and served with 2 and not 1 as in most other venues. Plenty of creamy curry. Would recommend adding a few cubes extra or cutting them slightly smaller. Delicious and well constructed meal. Will definitely make a return here.

Weekday special at Culture Restaurant & Lounge , Two Chicken Bunnys for R100 or Two Burgers for R100, available Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday. So impressed with their Bunny's, the chicken was tender, tastes delicious, stuffed with chunky chicken pieces, topped with a potatoe and balanced with extra gravy and salad on the side. The restaurant is stunning & elegant inside, perfect for celebrations, family dinner or just a romantic date. They offer a Buffet on Fridays and Saturdays (booking are essential) and they have a line up of weekday & weekend entertainment. #umhlangablogger #umhlanga #umhlangalocal #umhlangaridge #umhlangarocks #umhlangamanors #umhlangavillage #chrissaunderspark #umhlangasurroundingareas #umhlangabusiness #umhlangafoodies #umhlangafood #umhlangaresturants #whatsondurban #durban #indianfood #indianrestaurant #bunnychow #culture #whatsvibingumhlanga #valueformoney #morebangforyourbuck

After sitting outside for dinner, paid our bill and went inside to the bar. While waiting for my 2nd drink to order (not even 1st one at the bar) Mr Macho bouncer comes up and tells me I have to leave because I’m wearing slops. I’m anti-controversial so ok I’ll leave. From the bar to the exit, I see 1. Two ladies on the dance floor both BAREFOOT. 2 One of the waitresses wearing slops as well. 3. And lastly, the best, as I’m exiting, walk past and a mother and her 5-6 year old daughter, both in slops walking straight past Mr Macho who had to kick me out for wearing slops (and this is 10:30 - 11pm as well in a so called lounge) but yea, let’s kick the 1 guy at the bar in slops just waiting to spend more money to get another drink… terrible terrible staff and the other staff I complained just shrugged it off and then ignored the issue…

This was my first night out at Culture. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming ✨️ the front setup has a home lounge vibe, TV in the centre up against a gorgeous feature wall My table had chicken, and mutton baskets to share. (See images below) I enjoyed snacking on the chips and chicken strips. Overall it was reasonably priced. About at 8pm the atmosphere changes into a more vibey club scene I enjoyed dancing the night away with. They had 2 unique playing some live music until 10pm l, thereafter the dj left us with his trendy playlist. The crowd broke up at about 1am. I recommend this place to others, and ill be back again

It was my first time eating at culture restaurant and I thought the the hype was good but after ordering prawn curry and a banana milkshake for my colleague and it coming back tasting not up to standards as how it should be...however we sent it back and then it's comes back good as they person who made did say it seemed a bit off himself,so as I ordered the prawn curry which everyone says it's good...but after it arriving I tasted it and it's mostly extra salt I then returned it back and the chef yes sorry it did taste a bit salty I mean for first timers to experience this type of service and food is really and I know some may say I'm being ridiculous but it's the absolute truth about what happened and how this went down culture restaurant

Didn’t even go to the restaurant but disappointed with the customer service. Called to confirm what time the place closes as the website says 11pm. Got told by an Indian lady that answered the phone it will close at 8. I asked if there’s any specific reason as the website says 11pm and she said “the place is quiet so we’re not going to sit and wait for customers , it’s also the middle of the month and people’s money is finished” , I told her maybe the website should be changed as we were going to drive there thinking it closes later but we would be wasting our time. She said “well there’s two people here and we’re closing as soon as they leave”.. have these staff been trained ? Who speaks to a customer this way ? We won’t be supporting such a place going forward. Utterly disgusted by this.
The food had no salt. The menu was changed while we were having our starters so none of us got what we intended on ordering. The cushions on the chairs are soiled and stained. I refused to sit on them so I removed them myself. The doors to the toilets are dirty. We were seated on the sidewalk and had to endure noise and cigarette smoke from patrons. Service was bad. I waited 30 minutes for a Dom Pedro! The host and hostess were practically non existent! We were asked to leave early because you were having a H2O revival. How can you host a club revival at a family restaurantyou said no scandals and shorts yet I saw one of your patrons in this attire. Unprofessional and without class. I will not recommend your restaurant to anyone
The venue was in a safe, upmarket area and it was clean with excellent service from our waitress. The music suited both young and old, and the crowd was diverse. Thouroughly enjoyed the live singing. Enjoyed dancing as well. The aircon was not switched on/not working so it was extremely hot inside and it was difficult to dance after a while. The food was overpriced for what we got and did not taste great but that could be because I came with a larger party and we ordered our food quite late. Overall it was an enjoyable experience and i will go back.

I had the best meal I had all year at Culture. The BEST. What makes it more impressive is that it was a buffet style meal. Buffet is not usually the format that lends itself to individually good dishes. When food is made for a large group of people there's usually a dip in quality, but not this time. Every buffet dish was lovingly prepared and beautifully presented. Every mouthful was a joy. I couldn't actually believe how tasty everything was. My goodness. The buffet menu was very much skewed toward Indian Cuisine, I didn't get to look at a regular menu, so keep that in mind. Magnificent. If you have a chance to experience it for yourself do not hesitate.
Best Bunny Chow I ever had! The place has a lively vibe with live music over the weekends. Great place for families, groups and hip youngsters. They have quite a selection of cocktails and drinks. The place is very popular with the locals. Since it is not near the beachfront the traffic on Friday night was not as hectic. I even managed to find parking.

Great family friendly restaurant offering awesome live entertainment, creates a chilled vibe. Service staff were friendly but seemed like they couldn't cope with the busyness of the evening. Food is not the greatest but the mutton burger is worth a try. Road side parking available.

Tried the mutton bunny after a few friends recommended, it was really good but the bread could be fresher. The curry was tasty, meat was soft and not fatty, potato was soft and melted. Staff are friendly and management also checks up on tables which hardly happens in restaurants now.

Awesome place if you want to have a decent indian meal with good veg options, let your hair down and dance the night away, the gentleman singing was super talented and after 10 the DJ took over and rocked the place...drinks and cocktails were flowing as and when requested. The only thing that irks me is the automatic adding on of 10% to the bill, there were only six of us and not demanding at all. I normally tip way above the recommended 10-15%. Will definitely visit again.....

Food was amazing however terrible service received, our waiter kept trying to get us to buy more drinks since he would get a bigger tip. We sent some of our food back to be brought out later, it never returned and we were charged for it. We asked for take aways and never received same. Waiter mentioned I paid him less but I paid extra, when I questioned him, he said "it's sorted don't worry".Service was terrible.

Booked to celebrate my husband's birthday only because I heard the live entertainment was awesome and indeed it was..until the owner decides to watch tv with his family and spoilt the whole afternoon. Terrible place waited 2 hours for food to be served, the manager was not considerate at all our children was crying of hunger the food came so late I the managers name is Yishen, only God knows how he became a manager as he have no sense of care for the customers he behaves as if he is paying for our meals, I do not recommend this place to anyone as you will be sadly disappointed and left hungry j had to leave this place after waiting for so many hours yet there was a booking made.
Not halaal certified, alcohol served on the premises. Bar is separate from the kitchen area. No alcohol used in dishes. As per the manager, food products are purchased from a Halaal certified vendors. Service was very slow....food freshly pepared which is the trade off.

Friendly waitress but very unfriendly management. Not once did they a manager show up at our table to see if we were happy. Poor hospitality. Food: starters were good but the mains were saltless and tasteless. Patrons hung out at the entrance or the restaurant for no reason, drinks in hand which left the restaurant feeling classless with very low standards.

My team and I had the privilege to have lunch at this awesome restaurant today and we were blown away as to how tasty and neatly presented was the mutton bunnie chows served. The waitress who served us was exceptionally friendly and efficient.Well done to the great service we got here today

Been to culture a few times since I started working in Umhlanga, their food has always been great. They even went the extra mile by deconstructing my bunny chow and packaging each thing separately cause I wanted to take it home for my family. Not forgetting their awesome specials inbetween! Definitely a new fave spot of mine.
The music was tops... I just felt it was like jam packed sweaty armpit vibes. Like not space on the dance floor, the pathway from dance floor to bar.... You be bumping on people. It was my first time.... I had a jol though. Would definitely go back... My kinda music.

Had the mutton bunny, really enjoyed the flavor , colour and generous gravy on the side. Meat was quality , potatoes were soft, carrot salad was crunchy. Well done

Wonderful place to chill for the whole family, a lovely venue to host small functions. The food was awesome, especially the mutton bunny. Live music as well.
Great place. Nice atmosphere. Bunnies are excellent, well worth the try. Great entertainment for Friday through to Sunday. Booking essential for the nights.
We had hosted my brothers 21st Birthday here and was given the VIP section. 1. The way that some of the waiters look at women is rather unsettling and
Awesome Christmas buffet. Every dish was delicious and well prepared. Great vibey atmosphere. Friendly staff and management. Will definitely be back.

Reservation was omitted. Staff handled cutlery by the wrong end. Food was average. Live music was louder than a jet taking off.
Okay place with average tasting food. Good service, friendly staff. A good place if you looking for a quite isolated evening
