My husband and I stayed in the hotel room here, and it was sub-par to say the least. After reading decent reviews of the place on Google reviews, I went ahead and booked it because it was the cheapest place I could find for one night in Winnipeg. The guys at the front desk weren't unfriendly, but they definitely weren't friendly either. The room was horrendous. The sheets on the bed were unmade with the top comforter on top so it appeared clean at first glance. The sheets on the bed were stained with long wear and had holes in it. There was visible dirty footprints in the bathtub floor so I wouldn't doubt that the bathroom hadn't been cleaned. I didn't feel comfortable or clean sleeping in their sheets so we stripped the bed and used our own blankets and pillows . The TV and cable box was unplugged, not sure why. The room smelt musty and smokey as all rooms allow smoking. After reading back on more reviews after we checked out, most of the good reviews left were about their restraunt and lounge which we did not go too. Reviews we read later about the rooms had complaints of bed bugs and cockroaches. We didn't experience this luckily. I wish I could say something good about the place but I honestly can't.. the customer service could have been their one saving grace but it wasn't . Pay the extra $15-20 to stay somewhere CLEAN .

The building is old and needs some loonies put into it. The hotel is not handicap accessible. There is no elevator and the doors are very narrow. The room itself was clean but smelled of cigarette smoke, as did the hallway. It was a tiny room. The bathroom was adequate, but could use some new plumbing fixtures. The lavatory showed is age and the valves on the tub were hard to turn. The tub drain was slow to drain also. The entire place could use a new coat of paint and some new furniture. It could also use some brighter lights. The staff was very friendly and polite. They were also very helpful. The Wi-Fi is a pitiful excuse for Wi-Fi. You cannot stream or watch videos with it. They will throttle back your device if you try to. This place could be a gem in what is a beautiful neighborhood. It has potential. Just needs someone to sink some money into it.

If you are a white man, this place is perfect for you. Breakfast menus and a full cup of coffee will be served as soon as you enter. Waited on hand and foot by a white woman, with a tight ponytail and slender build. I waited until 10minutes had passed before I tried to flag down a server, whose presence was nonexistent in the serving room, but this white man pulled up in a white van and strolled inside. He got a cup of coffee immediately. Plus a smile. I was so put off I just got up and returned my news paper to the front desk. I was NOT going to spend my hard earned money in an establishment that acts like that. I live in the area and I work in the area. I'm not going back there. And I like to be up early and go check out local breakfast spots. THIS IS NOT ONE.

Wow what a horrible experience I was staying there and the blonde manager is the rudest person iv ever met . I was coming back from work one morning I walked in and was greeted by her yelling telling me there not extending my stay and she went on about some none sence and then the day before check out they told me I had to leave cause I was smoking in the room well I dont even smoke . The hotel is dirty old and nothing works and the staff must hate there lives cause they all need to learn what hospitaly is . I'm also going there personal stuff and honestly didnt need to be treated like that's I'm very upset and I'm saying please dont stay there its horrible

This place is decent if you need a place to flop. I stayed here one night while passing through the city and mostly only slept in the hotel. The staff is really nice, no noise throughout the night, the parking lot has lots of room and it has a bar attached, if you fancy such conveniences. My room was a bit cramped, it reeked of smoke and my bed sheets were a little dirty: one semi-large cigarette burn and a touch of a mysterious, caked-on liquid. To sleep, I had to wrap a towel around my pillow because the cigarette smoke emanating from it was so bad it was making me sick (I'm allergic to cigarette smoke). Would maybe stay again!

I’ve seen some worst motels and hotels and this place still amazes me. The receptions guy looked clearly drunk or high. We had 12 hours drive and when we arrived at the hotel the guy said we don’t have a reservation. He just told us to leave. After having an argument he called a guy from the office and we were reserved the whole time. Again, he asked for the payment which we had already paid. He was not ready to convince at all. Again, the other guy came in and checked that we have already paid. They will waste your time, try to rob you, treat like worst. Awful, awful place ever. Don’t get me started on the room!! Save yourself don’t come back here!!

Wouldn’t recommend vlt lounge. Sassy young blonde was rude as could be. Heard her say how she worked since noon 3 or 4 time in half an hour (it’s only 7pm) The whole time she is working”working” vlt cash out closed and she’s wandering basically around aimlessly. Has a thc/weed pen hanging out of bra. I deal with a lot of random things at the Curtis but that was some b s. I would recommend checking the cameras and expecting more out of your employees. She could have easily started an argument with her yelling across the lounge and is a liability when it comes to people who may be more unreasonable.. expect more from staff please. Thank you.

Currently staying here..on my second night as I pass thru. Price is fair what what is offered. How can you go wrong. Heat, water, a place to lay your head and WiFi. Everything feels secure and safe. All staff I've encountered have gone above and beyond for myself and everyone else as I've seen. I got the pleasure of sitting and chatting with the Bar manager for a while great guy. Not sure why some reviews are stacked with complaints. How can you go wrong for the price with all the above mentioned plus a MC.d next door. Tims across the street. This is a properly located hotel in regards to transportation and amenities. Thanks

Convenient location close to work. My apartment key was accidentally locked in my office, and the hotel is close to work. When I booked on line there was only OneRoom left. As I sit in Mac Donald’s this morning, which conveniently is immediately beside the hotel, I see that there is only OneRoom left this evening as well. Is this a marketing ploy, as the Picture of the room on the website is a marketing ploy, as it is certainly Not a picture of the same hotel. This is my second visit to the hotel as I have found myself in the same situation previously on one occasion. I would recommend a stay at this hotel.

Can’t comment other than the lounge and vendor. Vendor is ok. Some staff awesome. Noted staff white curly hair empty guy and native guy that works cashier. Both really awesome people. The new lounge lady on tonight kinda sucked. Lost her cool and yelled at a customer over something she eavesdropped on. Not even directed to her. Said something about her working til 8 when it was like 7:45 and she was playing vlt. Not sure what her name is but resembled Sid the sloth. Bartenders ok. Lounge seemed clean. Bathrooms fairly clean.

The Curtis Gordon motel I have so many mixed emotions when I hear those words lol I know your reputation has earned you a few nicknames over the years like the dirty curty and so on but I will say this the people that regularly attend the draft house love you they are always polite and as much as people have bad things to say there are twenty more with nothing but good things to say. So I applaud you on keeping your regulars happy and anyone else is just jealous keep it real and keep on moving forward. Well done

  • Favonian Fyzz

Over all nice. Staff are friendly. Missing a few common ammendities (understandable given the price). The sink has a tap for cold water and a tap for hot water, very strange to use. The bar felt busier than the hotel and it seemed many people who weren't guests went there. (Noise was not an issue though, at least not on a weeknight.) The restaurant downstairs is open from 7am to 2pm, very awesome staff that remember your orders from the previous day. Awesome attitude overall. A good number show up for breakfast.

  • Julie Cartwright

These guys made my day. I dont usually order out and almost never breakfast if I do but I have been stuck at home sooo sick that I cant go out and finally felt hungry, just starving,so I ordered off Skip. The app was being weird and they called me just to make sure I still needed the order and make sure what kind of hashbrown I wanted then sent down an incredible, huge ,hot, super tasty meal with perfect pancakes. So happy now, most satisfying breakfast in years. Thank you Curtis Gordon and lovely staff

  • Kipkoech Choge

I went here for a coffee and to catch some soccer action. The service was pretty slow, and very laid back. The TV screens were either broken or the settings were off. When I returned here after nearly 4 months, there was no visible change. The TV was still broken service still lax. On the other hand, this spot has an ambience that takes you back to the 80s or 90s, a unique ambience not found many if the popular places. Also, the bar is cash only. So if you plan on showing up here, bring cash with you.

  • Jay Kehler

Positive: Really good food specials. I've always enjoyed going to their restaurant. The good has always been good and great service. Negative: the bartender who did the "flare" I found very rude. Went there for a girls night, he would always throw your change at you. His attitude was not the greatest either. It's disappointing that they no longer have poker night, live bands and they took the pool table out. It seems they only want clientele who are gamblers. We will be going elsewhere for now on.

  • Meghan Greenburgh

Totally agree with Jey!!! The only other place I've seen the stuff that Ian does was in Vegas last year. Super personable dude and deserving of Winnipeg's Best Bartender!! Otherwise, not a bad place. Wish they had live music! UPDATE: I heard Ian left this week because the owners wanted him to stop doing his bar flair... what the hell!! He brought in A LOT of people (myself and friends included) that will never be coming back.

  • Brendon Forrest

Nasty hotel they don't clean the rooms. The carpet was dirty and the bedding had leaves in it so I know it wasnt washed. The sink had spit in it and the tub had a layer of grime. Rust came out of faucets, food from resteraunt looked like something off Kitchen Nightmares lol. Drunk people outside talking all hours. I couldnt even get in my room without being asked you got a smoke man. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

  • Jey Nowicki

5 stars for the bartender Ian. The place would not be the same without him. They should give him more creative freedom. All around service is also good and the door guys are always gentlemen. It's my favorite place to grab a drink. Update: I heard Ian left because he wasn't aloud to showcase his abilities. Too bad for the Curtis... but Henderson Hwy is full of bars...

  • Kyra S

I was here the other day and the pin pad was acting up so they had me try my transaction 3 times. I was told to keep my receipt if anything came up. I was charged 3 times, came back with my receipt and same card and was told they couldn’t do anything. They were friendly through the interaction which was nice, but I’m anticipating my refund still…

Amazing Staff. Fair Prices. Comfy room. Really turned my experience of winnipeg around, especially compared to many of the other hotels of this price range. Guarantee you won't find a better place for the $. Power outlets were only 2 pronged, though the amazing staff does have an adapter for customer use if you need a 3 prong. Highly Recommended : )

  • Frederique Pivot

Very vintage! If you are on a tight budget and travel with dogs, this place is great. The staff is very polite and friendly. It is relatively clean although my bathroom sink drains very slowly and it strongly smells cold tobacco in my room (I was probably put in a smoking room because of the dogs). No fridge/microwave/boiler in case you wonder.

  • Alan Stadnyk

The lounge waitresses are always sweet, fast, eager and friendly. The gaming lounge girls are especially pretty and sweet. Plenty of security for unsavouries and lots of good food and current music. Sundays are a bust though when theres usually only the one manager working the bar. He's ok but he's not nearly as sweet as the other waitresses...

  • Street Guy

Had not been here in some time for breakfast. Used to be an awesome Bfast for a fair price. The price is still fair but the food was mediocre. Hash browns were not cooked properly and had little taste. Could hear the waitress telling someone what each breakfast meal was, how many eggs etc. Maybe a new cook? I’ll review again if we return.

  • Jen Stieler

I haven't been to the Curtis for many years and the last time I was there it wasn't the cleanest or cheerest place to be. My friend and I stopped in during the day yesterday and was pleasantly surprised!!!! It was clean, bright and the bar tender was welcoming. He made our Ceasers just the way we like them!!!! Keep up the awesome job!

  • kevin neubauer

Boring Unless u play.VLTs. Regulars being pushed out. Manager's need training on their roles and responsibilities. Manager's hide in the kitchen instead of helping their staff. Very confusing why they even have bar Manager's as they don't interact with customers they just hide and eat in the kitchen. Need manager training immediately.

  • Nicholas Hanton

I would stay hear for anytime I need the staff we're friendly and the room is cleand plus the heat is on throught the hotel I can't say anything about the draft house or the restaurant because I wasn't their that long and.the room and damage deposit is descent as well compared to other motels across the city

  • Kaleb James

The lady at the front was very very nice and kind, the room was terrible reaked like cigarettes, an old school tube TV, the bed had hair all over it and the pillow, I had to use my own clothes over top of the pillows and blanket to feel somewhat comfortable, slept on top of the blankets In my clothes.

  • Gin BooBoo

It was a place to lay our heads. I wouldn't recommend and won't be staying again. Under the bed was gross, hadn't been vacuumed in god only knows how long. Food bits along side every piece of furniture. Worst of all though, is mgnt doesn't care about the hotel part just their bar. Terrible.

  • Candice Southwind

Worked at the Curtis for a year. Left because I had to file a harassment police report on the manager Brian Grant Gauthier. Kayla Simon split up a couple of 11 years and 2 kids. Honestly I don’t know how this hotel is even running with no repercussions on unexceptionable behaviour.

  • Spencer Campbell

I went to the customer appreciation day. We got free food, free beer, free prizes and great dancers all day long. There was only one waitress, Kim, in our section (probably about half the bar) and she did an amazing job checking up on all the customers and providing awesome service

  • Troy Fyhn

Second worst place I've stayed at. Drain was plugged, Wi-Fi didn't work, $100 deposit required even with credit card, single beds and the whole place is at least a century old so perhaps it would be better as a museum to see the conditions our ancestors had to endure!

  • James L

If the breakfast they served at this restaurant was a women, I'd kiss her, date her, and hold her hand in public. Brekky at the Curtis definitely has keeper vibes. Special thank you to Kayla for the superb service

We went for breakfast. Thought 9 dollars was a bit pricey for bacon and eggs considering Perkins is just up the street. On the plus side, the food was served quickly and was hot and to order. The waitress was fantastic. Friendly and kept coming to offer more coffee.

  • Trever

This place is the true meaning of a hole.Anytime you go there you can expect to see the exzact same people each time and if you dont tip every drink don't expect service after that might wanna change a couple of the daytime servers,Today was the last time here.

I go here for the beer vendor. Very well run vendor- no hassle beer empty returns, well stocked and maintained location, plus all the staff who work here are always a pleasure to see. I like doing business with people who care about & respect their customers

Be careful with what you get charged at the bar with the older lady with grey hair who works the closing shift at night on some of the weekdays. You order a drink and she will charge you one price and next time you go up she will charge you

The staff and management are a 10 out of 10. Each and every experience they have gone out of their way to accommodate me. I've been here a month already and had no bad experiences, except for a broken sink pipe that was immediately fixed .

Great vendor, lots of room to drive up and park in front. A regular staff that are really friendly and like to chat! Great selection of cold beer. Separate area to unload your empties. I always get my beer from the Curti!

Certainly ok to stay there, although the requirements are too much to ask and only offers online bookings.. they have no idea whether they are full or not which is very ridiculous. Would recommend as a last resort.
