2 months ago I spent £1,200 on a Cannondale CAAD10 racing bike from Evans. It's a lovely bike, really light and fast. About a week ago I was riding up a hill, in the lowest gear, and I shifted to go lower and instead of stopping me, the chain jumped off the hub and got stuck between the hub and the frame. It took me a good 10 minutes to yank the chain out because it was stuck in a gap that was too small for it. I got riding again, and I must have got 10 feet before it happened again. For the next 4 miles to work, and then the 6.5 miles back home, I was forced to look at my back wheel before attempting to shift lower. This, is in my top 5 least safe things I've ever done. I've just recently moved to Worcester Park so I decided to take it to Cycle Power for a service. I met the 2 Marks, and they were very helpful. They spent about 10 minutes assuring me that they didn't think there was too much damage and they'd try to service it today. They noticed that one of the spokes on the hub was bent but they were pretty confident that they'd be able to fix it without having to get any new parts. Later that day I came to pick it up. They explained to me that the gears weren't setup correctly (thanks Evans), and they'd straightened the spoke with no need to buy a new one. Mark (the shop owner) then spent about 20 minutes giving me some really great bike tips for maintaining my new ride. Then, Mark 2, (Mark's young apprentice) spent a good 20 minutes explaining how to grease and clean it. I couldn't believe how much I didn't know about bikes. When I left, they let me know that if I had any issues, I should bring it back and they'd have a look. They even offered to fit the new pedals I'd just bought off the internet. As I rode my bike away, even though they'd told me that the gears were originally setup incorrectly, nothing could have prepared me for how amazingly responsive it suddenly was. It felt like they'd thrown away my bike, and given me an upgrade. I was quite astonished by the level customer service I received and I feel it necessary to shout about. I have found my go-to bike shop.
Brilliant experience buying my first bike in over 40 years. Tracy helped me was excellent she explained all.the differences in the various bikes as well as expertly guiding me through the mountain of accessories I would need. She also recommended a local initiative by the council for helping to ride safely. I noticed that also the other colleagues were equally as expert in knowledge as well as customer service the whole place had that can't do enough for the customer attitude which is so rare to find in high street chains. So thank you again all at cycle power Update I picked up my new bike today totally happy with it I feel safe in the helmet that was recommended and the lights work a treat. Picking the bike up was a joy Tracy and Mark answered any more questions I may have had which was so appreciated as the shop is busy but they make the customer feel so confident and special. After visiting other high st chains that sell bikes where the customer service is less than great it was wonderful to find a treasure of a store such as Cycle Power. So if you are looking for a bike or anything to do with your bike I urge you to go straight to Cycle Power
I first visited Cycle Power over 3 years ago, where Mark did an amazing job of keeping my cheap and nasty 20 year old banger of a bike on the road. A year later Mark was extremely helpful in advising me on the purchase of a hybrid bike I could use for part of my commute. After 2 very happy years on this bike, my new found passion for cycling and increased mileage meant I was ready to upgrade to a fast lightweight road bike. Despite being rushed off their feet and working all hours due to the unprecedented lockdown demand, both Mark and Tracey have been truly amazing in putting up with my many visits to the shop and making sure I bought the perfect bike. The follow-up support they have given in ensuring it has been setup properly for me has been above and beyond the call of duty. I’ve gone from a complete novice to a proper enthusiast in a short space of time, and a big part of that is down to Cycle Power supporting me on my journey. Definitely the best bike shop around, with a personal touch that can’t be matched.
I’ve been meaning to leave this review for some time. I love the family team at Cycle Power. I purchased a Whyte 805 (£999) from the store back in November. Not having set foot in the store since collection of my bike back in ‘14, I called in April to book my bike in for a repair. Would you believe it, Tracey remembered my name as the first person to have purchased a bike from hers and her husband’s, Mark, store on the Cycle to Work scheme. Since April I’ve been back a number of times for help/ servicing of my children’s bikes. Both Mark and Tracey have been so accommodating and helpful. They are both working every hour that God has sent right now. Mark often in the shop until well after midnight working on bikes to keep Britain moving. I love how their young children are involved in the business, and so knowledgable too. It is really a business that typifies English resolve and determination. And for this, they definitely deserve your support. Thank you Team at Cycle Power. Stuart
Took my mtb in a while ago now as the hydraulic brake lever had cracked and oil was leaking out. I was told it would be about £120 to replace even though the rest of the brake was working fine. I showed them levers I’d found online and they said it wouldn’t work and were quite patronising and impatient. Couldn’t afford this so left it for many months. Spoke to a friend recently and they explained how it’s done. Bought a shimano lever for £15 on Amazon and a £10 bleeding kit and sorted it all out in about 20 minutes. Not sure if the mechanic I spoke to was simply inexperienced or were trying to fleece me but wasn’t satisfied with this service. The second star is because I know some family members have had good experiences in the past. I’d recommend evans cycles in Sutton - mechanic there is experienced and friendly and prices are a lot more reasonable!
Mark and Tom are absolutely marvellous. I went here for northwave cleat shoes. They were so patient with both getting the sizing right (and ordering the shoes was no problem) and then teaching me how to use them - it was my first time for cleats. Such friendly helpful guys. Tom also walked be through changing an inner tube so I’m now much more confident when cycling alone. I’d recommend this shop for everyone - new or experienced cyclist. I’m a bit of both - but had never crossed over a couple of personal boundaries. They have just swapped road bike providers and I’m really impressed by the new brand. I’m planning to invest in my bike through them too. Thank you guys - you gave up so much time for me. What a great passion and patience you have.
We went in to Cycle power on a Saturday afternoon to buy our two children their next bikes as they have both outgrown their current ones. We were greeted by Cian and Mark who did an amazing job of making our two very shy children feel comfortable trying the bikes. Mark is so knowlegeable and gives great advice and even built the bikes same day for us so we could have them intime for the bank holiday weekend. Cian, Marks son who also works in the shop is a credit to him, works so hard and is great with the kids. The service they give at cycle power is faultless and I have no doubt that we will be back everytime our children outgrow their bikes.
Very helpful in the shop and getting the sale done. Was told bike could be serviced within 6 weeks. Tried to book it in and was told they had no availability and to try again later. Fair enough given how quickly the bikes flew off the shelves and being a small business. Tried again after about 12 weeks only to be told the same thing. Then completely forgot about it and called up to try again and was then told they would charge me for it and that it wasn't a service being offered it was only a safety check, which certainly wasn't made clear at the time. Having spent over 700 on two bikes seems like very poor after care to me!
Absolutely fantastic service, have literally provided a Christmas miracle for our two children amongst a backdrop of increased demand and also supply issues due to covid lockdowns and whatever else 2020 had to throw at us. So helpful in making sure the correct bikes were chosen and the specific colours were ordered. We understood fully throughout the 8-10 weeks since placing the order that the kids may not get bikes on time for christmas day but we were confident all was being done to ensure that if they could have them in time then they certianly would. Can't thank everyone at Cycle Power enough for making it a success.
Would I recommend Mark to others? Without doubt. I choose him over 3 closer shops .why? He actually knows what he's talking about because he rides. It's a family run business like it should be and Mark will make time for you during and after the sale to ensure everything is perfect. I have just purchased my second bike from him .Spent a few days on it and decided it needed a few adjustments for fit .Mark made time to help me with this . If you are looking for a quality bike and want to receive quality service in the process give Mark a go. He has a brilliant selection of Whyte bikes and will service all makes as well
Nice shop and nice staff but check prices. Got charged £39.99 for pair of Altura fingerless cycling gloves that I later found were available elsewhere for a range between £22 - £35. Prices generally not marked up in shop so almost embarrassed when given price at till. Should have just said no thanks. I was able to return next day but charged 15% £6.00 for doing so and refund process was a bit involved with them needing my address. My own fault but lesson learnt. Independent shops will always need to charge more but 50 to 30% more is too much and charge for refund is over the top as well.
After recently moving into the area I was looking for a decent cycle shop for for maintenance and repairs etc. My winter bike had an issue that had come from another repair shop that I had run out of faith with. On taking my bike to Cycle Power, Mark took a quick look and said the problem was with the rear cog set. Didn't even touch my bike, just looked at what set up I had. A few days later my bike was ready. A few months and a fair few miles later all is okay. Excellent service provided by all I met there and will definitely return when I inevitably break something else!
I came into the store not knowing anything about bikes. A complete novice, and quite vulnerable. I was greeted by a young lad who shown enthusiasm for bikes and had a avid passion for his families business. Within 15 minutes I had purchased a rather beautiful bike. The qualities it had alongside the information given by Mark and his wife, thus young lad enabled me to feel comfortable with the purchase. Really happy that within a few days I was able to ride it at 24. Yes I’m old and learnt a new valuable hobby thanks to Cycle Power LTD.
I had my bearings for my wheels with DT Swiss 240s hubs replaced. They were replaced very quickly (great service here, hence the 3 stars). However, the bearings used in the replacement were extremely low quality. When I came to pick up my wheels I asked to replace the new rear bearings as they felt scratchy. They were replaced and the new ones felt good. After less than 100km of riding one of the rear wheel bearings is extremely scratchy and even makes a noise while turning and needs to be replaced.
I had a fantastic experience with Cycle Power, outstanding service and extremely welcoming owners. I had the unfortunate experience of a tyre puncture, and living over an hour cycle from home, I came to Cycle Power in the hope that they could help. Although they were flat out busy, Mark took the time to fix my puncture and I was back on the road within 45 minutes for an extremely reasonable price. Couldn't be more grateful, would highly recommend!
Cycles Power provide some of the best advice and service I've received anywhere. Nothing seems too much trouble and they're willing to spend time with you to make sure you get all the right advice and products. Many thanks to Mark. A true gentleman who cares about the customer. "Rare these days". I took my bike in for a service and I genuinely feel like I have a brand new bike again. Great work. I'll be back again! Thank you.
Outstanding service in all ways and very nice, friendly people to buy from. Good advice and communication and extremely helpful. I contacted many other shops in a 30 mile radius and most others seemed more intent on taking my money than thinking about what I wanted. Happy to travel the extra distance to use these people and would happily so again and highly recommend. Thank you very much Cycle-Power!
Cycle Power have always been really helpful. We've bought bikes and scooters in the past and have always been really happy with their service. More recently my 11 year went with his broken bike and they helped him to get it back on the road straight away. And today they fixed a scooter on the spot ! So kind and courteous . Really really love having this shop on our high street
Because of the current situation gym opening and closing most of the year thought of buying turbo trainer and as an amputee I was bit unsure and nervous to go to the shop and ask for it but Mark the shop owner was really helpful and really good in explaining everything and even come to my house and fitted all the equipment. definitely recommend him and his shop
Been a customer for a number of years and it's always top quality service. Most recently, Mark got my bike rebuilt in no time so I can race with it a few days after. Prior that, I've had many rounds of service on the bike and it's always of the best quality. Mark's also very friendly and always patient in explaining things! Can't ask for more really..!!
Excellent local cycle shop, friendly and knowledgeable on all aspects of bikes and servicing. Always willing to help to get you back on the road or track, good retail stock levels in store and a very reliable web site with great prices. Highly recommended shop, have been with him for 10+ years and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. :0)
Friendly, swift and professional! Had 4 road bikes serviced before a long ride and they all rode much smoother. I was warned the gears may need further adjustment as they replaced the cables and sure enough it did so they kindly sorted that without further charge. I was also lucky enough to get the bikes delivered back to my house! Great service!
Took my 14 year old road bike to get a service and replace some parts. Mark did a fantastic job at very reasonable prices. When I collected the bike, he mentioned a few things I should be aware of. I took the bike for a quick ride earlier today and the bike feels as good as new. Great job, friendly staff. I would highly recommend Cycle Power.
I bought a new bike today for leisure and possible commute. I received great service from Mark and Tracey. Good local, family run business. Knowledgeable team. It was a great experience. They were very patient and there was no pressure put on me to make a purchase. I was able to buy and take my bike home the same day. Thank you.
Great service! Mark sorted out a warranty issue with my bike that was not even bought through him, nothing seemed to be a problem. I was let down badly by the online site I bought the bike through but Mark sorted out with manufacturer and fixed the problem quickly. Lesson learned buy a bike from a shop not online, Thanks Mark.
I received a level of customer service here that I have yet to find anywhere else. Mark couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating. He went above and beyond in sourcing a bike for my son and had it built in time for his birthday to my disbelief. I highly recommend this business, it’s just a shame I don’t live nearer A*
I have been getting my bike serviced at Cycle Power for many years. Mark is very knowledgeable and a great mechanic. I have just upgraded to my first EMTB and am very happy with the way the bike was prepared and the excellent service from Mark and Charlie. I am happy to recommend them.
Mark, the owner is very knowledgeable and helpful. He is a cyclist himself and is happy to chat about any problems. He has been really busy (when you find someone you trust you keep coming back) but if he cant do it then he will book you in. He services ALL my bikes
I was satisfied and happy with the result today had change my brake caliper of my ebike the guy is friendly and great price for service no more noise squick on my ebike and breaks are so good and smooth.I will come again for this shop recommended to all. -Denmark
Really Kind owners. I wanted to pump my bicycle and did not had a pump and couldn't find a public one. They offered their air pump to fill in the air , free of cost. Great collection of bicycle and accessories. Definitely recommend them.
Popped in here due to a puncture I couldn’t repair and it was fixed in no time. I have in the past made various purchases from this shop and the efficiency, knowledge and friendliness of staff is second to none. Would highly recommend.
This morning I turned up completely unannounced at the shop with a puncture. I was genuinely impressed with the owner's attitude and helpfulness in repairing my bike. Honest, knowledgeable and approachable. Highly recommend.
Just had my bikes serviced there. Marc was great and really helpful. Really friendly bunch as well. I'll probably pop in just to say hi next time I'm walking past. Oh and good value for an above and beyond service too.
Popped in as I had messed up trying to change my chain. They couldn't have been more helpful and actually did his best to prevent me having to buy a new chain. Will give them as much business as I can in the future.
Sent my bike for annual servicing and chain replacement. All completed within couple of hours! Bike was as good as new and ready for new adventure! Top team from Cycle Power providing excellent service as always!
Mark and Tracey went out of their way to accommodate repairing and servicing our bikes. Friendly, experienced and knowledgeable team, just the two of them at the moment. Selflessly working to keep us on the road
Just purchased 2 bikes for my sons from Mark . . what can I say! 5 star service... Fantastic service, advice, honest opinion and help! Will never go anywhere else... Thankyou Mark! I have 2 happy boys.
Great customer service, attention to detail and perfect bike tuning it's just some of the great things this local bike shop can offer, highly recommended, I service all my 3 bikes in there every year.
Excellent technical service levels for high end mountain bikes. Whenever I have broken something on my bikes CyclePower can get me back up and running in record time. Customer service is first class.
The owner of this place was rude bordering on aggressive. Really odd as I was buying two bikes. Maybe a bad day. I'm avoiding this place and bought my two bikes from a Balfe bikes who were great.
I was so impressed by the knowledge and fantastic service from this local company. I was given the best advice and came away with the right bike for my needs. I can't recommend highly enough!
Charlie and Mark have been extremely helpful, getting me back on the road in no time. After moving into the area last year, I'm so glad I found a local bike shop I can trust. Thank you!
Just taken delivery of my second bike from Mark, really pleased with my lovely bike, excellent friendly service at really good prices, a highly recommended local family ran shop
Fabulous- so happy with the service, very prompt and even got me a discount from the suppliers as the motor broke on my electric bike that was out of warranty. Highly recommend!
Small locally run bike shop. Sells a broad range from very nice carbon Wiliers to children's scooters. Handy an efficient for service and repairs. Top marks for the two Marks!
Always super helpful and friendly. No problem too big or small. Has fixed many of my bike problems and followed up on some warranty part issues as well. . Highly recommended!
The people working there are very knowledgeable and did their best to fix my son’s bike. There was a good chance that it might have cost hundreds but they worked their magic!
A big thank you to Tracey, Mark and Charlie for hooking me up with my first road bike! Lovely shop, service with a smile and superb aftercare. Highly recommend these guys.
