Horrible service. I arrived a half hour early to pick up my car, and there were NO CARS available. NONE. Although workers were marginally polite, they were mostly indifferent to the problem they caused to myself and everyone else who was waiting (at least 10-12 people), they all made various and different excuses as to why there were NO CARS available for the half dozen of us who arrived to pickup our reserved cars. And because I reserved aheard, I could not cancel without suffering a penalty of either half or all of the amount of the reservation. But it gets worse. After an hour and a half, one car, a Nissan Rogue, became available, but I was not called to the window to claim it. Another customer asked for that car and was told that it was not ready to go out and needed an oil change. I also asked for that car and was told "NO. You get a compact." I replied that I had ordered the "Manager's special" which states that I would be given any sort of car, but I guess that the manager had already ordered that I get only a compact. I begged, explaining my limited time, to no avail. Another hour went by (yes 2 and a half hours of waiting) and still no other cars showed up for anyone. FINALLY, I was called to the window and I was given the Nissan Rogue. I guess it didn't really need that oil change, then, huh? That 2 1/2 hour wait ruined my day. I had to rush to make it to my clients before they closed. I ended up losing 6 customers that day because of Dollar's bad employee training and lack of vehicles that they accepted reservations for. I will NEVER use them again. And next time I'll make sure that I don't get a charge if I cancel. I don't know why I didn't get a discount because they didn't have a car for me on time, but big corps never lose money, only us. I'd rather pay a little more and actually have a car waiting for me when I order it. Bottom line: Take a big chance using this company (parent company is Hertz, and they could have asked for some cars from that lot, but no, they did nothing to help the customers, absolutely nothing.) I sent a review to the company and have not heard back from them and doubt they will ever communicate with me, but that's okay, I won't give them any more of my money.

If I could give zero stars I would. We reserved a full sized vehicle. Our plane was delayed due to bad weather. When we arrived at the rental counter we were told no cars were available and we could choose to wait. I asked how long the wait was and the representative had no idea. We sat to wait - for 2 hours! We watched as others were told the same thing. There were many irate customers! When we finally got our car others were being told that they were number 17 in line to wait. Someone asked what the point of a reservation was. Great question! The representatives were not helpful or sympathetic whatsoever. In fact, at times their behavior bordered on rude. We got to the level where the cars are kept (the elevator was broken). Our car was a Mazda 3 which is a nice car, but definitely not full sized. We didn't want to wait for several more hours so we just took it. Unfortunately, the reason we needed a full sized car was so that we could fit 3 adults and a walker in the car. A reasonable request. The walker couldn't fit in the trunk space, which was very small. We were only able to fit 2 adults and the walker, which meant we couldn't all ride together and had to rely on other people for rides or just leave someone behind. The car also sits extremely low to the ground. Two senior citizens (one of whom uses the walker) had an extremely difficult time getting in and out of the car. All of this to be charged an arm and a leg. We will never rent from this company again. Don't waste your time and money!

I had a reservation for February 4that 2:00pm. I arrived about 2:10 waited in line checked in lady said have a seat and we will call you when your car is ready. First never had that before, normally you told where your car is and you go straight to it. I took a set waited about 30 minutes. There were more and more people gathering. People started discussing how long they had been waiting, one gentleman had been waiting over an hour. Customers started going to counter asking g how much longer. One women was able to talk with manager on duty, he informed her they had NO cars to rent. Slowly people started seeing if they could cancel and going to the other car rental agencies. After an hour I checked with another car rental , they were able to accommodate my rental. I walked back to Dollar as I was talking with lady in regards to cancelling my car. They were still checking people in and not mentioning to them that they had No cars to rent. When I left still a number of people waiting. I think this is unacceptable customer service. Why would you not explain the situation to people as the checked, at least give them the option of waiting or not. It was a very dishonest thing to do. As if none of the customers time was valuable. This was my First and LAST time renting from Dollar. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!!

NEVER EVER EVER RENT A CAR FROM DOLLAR CAR RENTALS AND MIDWAY AIRPORT!!! If I could give 0 stars I would!! My husband and I have had a car reservation for weeks through dollar. We arrived at the airport today at 2pm and we've been waiting for our car ever since. It has been almost 3 hours we've been waiting for our car. The people at the counter told my husband multiple times that we were next to get our car through out the course of 2 1/2 hours. After asking for a discount because of the time and money we've lost today waiting on our car, they told us there is nothing they can do. We even called the customer service department and all they did was give us a fake number and told us to call it for a discount and it turned out to be the number for Expedia. Like what?? I do not understand why it should take HOURS just to get our rental car that we reserved weeks ago. We missed out on half of our day and missed out on a $100 boat trip just to wait for this car we reserved prior. Literally ridiculous. Staff isn't helpful either. Never use Dollar unless you want to sit for hours at the airport AFTER already getting off a long flight. we deserve a discount for this but won't receive one. Thanks a lot Dollar.

So... It's awesome that they don't discriminate against non-credit card users. But they try to push non- policies on the debit card users that don't exist. I rented a car on line from Dollar and requested a 10am pick up. I got to Dollar to pick up and they tried to tell me that because I'm using a debit card I would have to wait until 5pm to pick up my rental. The lady helping me even tried to point out that it was posted, a little 8 by 10 sign sitting on the counter which said absolutely nothing about debit card users picking up "premium" car rentals after 5pm. I even pulled up their website and read the rules and regulations to her. Nothing about time of pickup for debit card holders. It was a little messy but they gave me my rental and I was on my way. We had a great weekend road trip and drop of was easy. All I can say is if using a debit card, read all the rules and regulations because the employees don't really know them and will try to enforce them without knowing what they are. A little side note for Dollar... When someone is using a debit card to rent a vehicle, they have the money in the bank. When someone is using a credit card to rent a vehicle, they are borrowing the money. Cash is King!

The people who work at the desk are beyond RUDE including a female manager I wish I would have gotten her name . We went to pick up our rental our credit card would not swipe and THEY don’t accept chip (our credit card also had chip) so they told us go look around and see if another rental place can help you because we can’t do nothing for you . We knew we wouldn’t get a better deal last minute so we asked nicely if anything was possible they said “NOPE” even the manager had no care on just trying to help my husband would think of another idea and they were like just no then he said can w I pay with a debit and as much as they didn’t want to help they went along and let us pay debit with attitude, wanted to charge us $200 bucks more when we had a reservation In advance with them my husband fought to bring it back down to the original price which we ended up getting with a fight . The car was great he did have a lot of outside damage so make sure you check their cars and take pictures and submit the damage car paperwork if not they will CHARGE you for damages you did not do. We definitely will NEVER rent from them again they really need to work on training employees!!!!!

I made a reservation (2 months ago) to pick up a car from this location, ON Thanksgiving. I did call to confirm the reservation several times and each time the representatives were helpful and always reassuring, but I did know that my rental request was in-fact daring, so I prepared myself for the worst. I saw several families waiting for vehicles or any transport and my stomach sank.. I arrived to the kiosk and was greeted warmly my Mark, who checked me in and said “so glad to see you!” And then confirmed he had a vehicle, went over each detail of the transaction with me carefully, and finally gave me directions to find my vehicle. He stated how it was a bold move for someone to rent a vehicle on such a busy transportation holiday, but that he was sure to save me at least one (I got the last vehicle in my rate class) and it was better than the one I was told I was going to get. He kept my vehicle safe because he knew a reservation was in fact coming, and for this whole experience... I give dollar car rental 5 stars. I didn’t even have to wait 30 seconds for anyone to “find” anything, it was all the perfect rental experience.

We're do I begin had a reservation was asked if we wanted insurance I told my husband ugh didn't add so husband said ok just give me the liability, employee says how about toll tag umm we we're heading to Indy we said umm well how many toll are they the rude employees says IDK. To make matters worse it was never activated the toll so i ened paying as i went so dont get it you can pay as you go. No explanation was given . While card was inserted 3 times and husband got up 3 times. So after questioning why with no avail. Questioning the amount after signing once the receipt was given notice she added other items not requested. We questioned to the other employee why the upcharging and wanted an explanation why I was overpaying. They simply stood by I agreed. So beware of the scam I now is stuck with the over of a$$300. So Priceline the bundle wasn't the right way to go. At a cost. Now calling BBB so you the Manager it's up to you to make this right iam owed $279.84 a CDW (optional) and toll $ 89.94 that wasnt activated Check your email. Under Hector De la Torre.

Even giving this company 1 star pains me. I originally booked my car on a 3rd party site with Dollar and had a pick up location differing from my drop off location. Apparently they do not have a drop off near the location I was traveling to. I don’t know how this got misconstrued, but when I called to explain what was happening, I was given no useful assistance. They kept repeating the same thing and when I asked to speak with a manager the associate got annoyed and had me on hold for 20-30 minutes. When she came back I was told my new total would be $650 rather than the agreed upon $150, because I had to change location and extend the rental. I was not made aware at any point that my original destination was not acceptable. Needless to say, I am angry. I will not be using Dollar ever again and I will urge others not to either. Their prices look good, until they gouge you for something that wasn’t even your fault! I’d rather pay a little more and be taken care of when I have an issue than deal with this company ever again.

Terrible. We decided to go with Dollar because we flew United and United allow you to earn miles if you book a car rental with one of their partners. The advertised price was $32 when I looked it up through the MileagePlus member portal. When I called to double check, I was told that the rental cost would be $98 for the 3 days. Of course, we went for it thinking we were going to save some money. What they didn't mention is that this doesn't include any type of insurance or liability coverage. By the time they finishing tacking everything on (that included in most car rentals), the final bill came out to $300. I would have had way more respect for them if they had just let me know the final price that up front. Just go with another company. This isn't even the Spirit Airlines of car rentals. At least Spirit is a good fit for SOME travelers (who are packing light and don't mind sacrificing some comfort and conveniences to reach their destination). This place is worse. How they do things just doesn't make any sense.

They stole my cash. My family rented from dollar in Chicago and I had left my purse in the rental car as we returned the car. After realizing it soon after, I was back at the site of return within 30 mins. The staff was able to get the purse back to me, however I later checked through my belongings and roughly $120 worth of cash was stolen from my purse. I should’ve realized something had happened when the purse was returned to me completely open-zippers and all. A company like this should be honest and not steal like they did. This was an absolutely trash move as that is a significant sum of money. I can only hope none of my card or identification information was stolen. Granted I should’ve been careful, this was absolutely not okay from a business perspective. On top of that, when we first picked up the car, my family was made to wait for a half hour as the car was not ready for us yet which was easily over looked at the time but now just adds to the dislike for this company.

Short version: Rude staff, had to go back to get a second car because they “sold” ours Detailed: Longest line at the facility. Waited in it for 30+ minutes. Agent was very rude to my mother when she asked routine questions. Finally we’re given our paperwork and sent away with very little instruction. Went to the garage and waited at the dollar booth (which was empty) for 20+ minutes. Finally asked another customer and they said they had to go find their car on their own. Finally track down our vehicle (also with my elderly aunt who is wheelchair bound) and gather my family and luggage. When trying to leave the garage was told there was a “hold” on the car and we had to go back to the desk inside and get a new car. We’re told inside that the car we had the first time had been sold (???). I’ve been to 3rd world countries where renting a car was a better experience. Made me never want to come back to Chicago.

I went to rent a car and had some issues because they do a credit report before you can have your rental and due to my bank freaking out because I spaced on informing them that I was traveling, they said I couldn't get my reserved car. However, when faced with the issue, the ladies behind the counter wouldn't bother to help me any further and lacked any compassion with my predicament of being stuck in an airport 3 hours from my destination. I returned to the desk to ask if I could try anything else and the one girl turned her back to me and refused to speak to me. I stepped back and she turned right around for the next person. Just make sure you have a backup plan to get to where you may need to go cause if not, they will leave you out in the cold. Literally. I paid $300 for a Lyft to get to where I needed to go. You're probably better off just using a rideshare service!

Initially, I was looking forward to our first car rental and chose to book Dollar with our AAA membership. After a quick interaction to confirm our reservation at the Phoenix airport, we were off. However, we noticed that what should have been a $250 fee turned into $500 after several services were added on without consulting us. Unfortunately, because they were added without explanation, we signed our rental agreement. We returned to dispute the added road side assistance (we booked through AAA--why would we need that?) and loss and damage coverage (we have excellent car insurance). However, once you sign the agreement, it does not matter how dishonest an employee may have been. The customer service was incredibly unhelpful and what could have been long term customers have turned into never again. I would absolutely choose any other company--an expensive lesson learned.

If I could give negative points I would. In my original rental agreement, I have never signed for plate pass and now When my original car had mechanical breakdown and had to exchange. So I get new agreement and I see plate pass charges I HAVE NOT requested and my original rental agreement clears shows that I have not requested plate pass. My exchange doesn't even have a plate pass and they are going to charge me for it. They do not have a direct number and they have outsourced their call center and the people there have no clue what they are talking about. Needless to say they sent me back to milwaukee airport where I picked up the exchange to fix the issue only to find out that it can be fixed only by midways airport dollar rental. I am going to contact my CC company regarding this since I did not sign up for this BS.

I appreciated the representative in Chicago for working with me to get my rate as close to the quoted rate as possible. The rate that was quoted and emailed waa different than my actual amount. Also it would be great if they had courtesy shuttle services. I was stranded at the drop off location for over 7 hours waiting to find a way home. The cab amounts to get me home was between $295-350. I like the low rates and the ease of checkout. Seeing that this was my first time renting a vehicle to cross states, it was a painless process until I got to my drop off location. I was pleased that I received grace from the representative at that location because I got lost trying to figure out where to drop the vehicle and how to get to the airport entrance. Overall it was a great experience one that I may do again.

3hr wait at the counter for car “being serviced,” despite having a reservation. Actively hostile counter staff though I didn’t complain. Now confronted with bogus $84 gas charge, though I refilled right next to the airport before dropping off. Waiting for response from corporate but seeing from consumer reviews there is fine print saying you must present a fuel receipt when dropping off. Unfortunately receipts were not available at the pump and I didn’t make the decision to go inside the station to get it. Editing after corporate response: Dollar/Hertz refunded gas charge after I contacted them via Messenger as per the instructions below. Did not require receipt. But NOTE: fine print says receipt must be provided ALONG WITH FULL TANK. Keep all receipts and wait to check out with attendant.

Absolutely the worst experience of renting a car. Upon arrival our car is not rent disputes the fact I had reserved a car 6 months in advance. After waiting almost an hour I decide I cannot wait anymore. I requested any car that is ready. I specifically requested to have prepaid gas. In fact we actually had a conversation about having an early flight and not having to stop to get gas. Upon returning the car the agent informs me that prepaid gas was not indicated and that I would be charged $20 a gallon. Request a manager - they Tell me the manager is at least 30 minutes away. Of course I can’t wait since I have a flight to catch I contacted customer service multiple times but they’re giving me the runaround. I feel like this might even be standard practice for this agency. Absolute scam.

Car quality was trash. Drove rough a lot of damaged already on car.I ordered a full-size car The music on speaker of the radio didn’t work well . Car very shakey when driving . Front desk reps were a little rude. I had to wait 30 mins for vehicle I already had reserved. Can tell they didn’t want to do their job at the front desk. Agents were very nonchalant . When returning the vehicle and explaining my issues to a manger he said it was nothing he can do. Which I’m not surprised because he didn’t walk up and greet me with a hello or anything he asked the coworkers. Why did they call him up . I was charged for a late fee even though I confirmed over the phone a day prior that I would be delivering the car later. They didn’t put in the time I would be returning and quoted me a wrong price

RENT FROM LITERALLY ANYWHERE ELSE UNLESS YOU HATE YOURSELF! They gouge with fees so it would be cheaper with Alamo or Enterprise etc. anyways. This Dollar in particular will AT BEST have your car ready over an hour after your reservation. Don’t bother showing up early, they will turn you away. And having an earlier reservation will just leave you waiting for longer as they tell you that you missed your reservation and they have to get another car. The staff are condescending, slow, inconsiderate and ignorant to the workings of their own franchise. And just to top it off, they have an open-looking counter next to all the other companies that no one mans, and not one signs to let you know that you actually need to take an elevator to the parking garage.

If I can give this company 0 stars I would however I can’t so 1 star it is. Terrible customer service and this company is a fraud who took my 70 bucks without me ever getting the rental car. Guys please run and do your business with other rental companies. This place knew they were not going to have any cars available and still allowed me to book and took my money. Who has time to wait hours on hours for a reserved car when you have other obligations to do. I reported this company to the BBB. I had no clue they were operating like this. I will never use Thrifty again. I made the rental online at a discounted price. I arrived and Kayla was great helped and explained the price and why it was a few dollars off. We had the car for 2 days and we were suppose to drop it off on Sunday by 6 am. Our flight boarded at 5:50 am so we did the night drop box by 4 am. We left it at that and got on our flight to the east coast. Now a few hours later we got our bill for $92 more then the agreement. When I called and asked they said I returned the car at 10:48 am and forfeited my discount. I thought funny since by that time was I on the east coast for almost 3 hours at that point. They are nothing but thieves and when I ask for a supervisor they are magically never working.

Had some issues with our booking which was definitely annoying. Took us about an hour to get the car because of the issues. (Admittedly issues were on both ends). Biggest thing was that we were using a debit card. (Just so you know they do require your full social security number if you use a debit card along with a $500 hold for the car.) However, all that aside after a long and stressful day of travel though, Torrance was a huge help to us. Really cool person all around and was incredibly helpful, so thank you so much to them for helping us straighten everything out!! (We booked through Dollar but he was in a Hurtz jacket so might be the manager for both but either way shout out to them!)

NEVER EVER RENT FROM THIS COMPANY! We waited from 8:30 pm-10:30 pm in a 35 degree parking garage with three young children (ages 1, 3 and 6) for a car. The attendants were extremely rude, showed zero empathy and could not supply any type of timeline. Our children were cold and absolutely exhausted as we waited with a growing group of other customers who were equally as upset (thankfully they were much more sympathetic than the employees). We ended up in a car much too small (while they gave away a minivan to a young couple with no kids). I will never rent from them again, and I am writing this to prevent this from happening to any other future families looking for a rental.

They were great until they wouldn't give me my money back for deposit while having the vehicle ($200) and the additional two $50 they charged me until they decided to close my account. Its been one week since I turned in the vehicle and still haven't received my money back. I was told on Wednesday when I noticed the additional two $50 charges that they would return to my account within 24-48 hours. I've tried calling three since then and have not gotten an answer after waiting 20 mins on hold and then it just hangs up. Along with an email I sent out 3 days ago. During this chaos of a virus money is extremely precious and holding $300 from us is really aggravating.

Absolutely horrendous. Wish I could give them zero stars. Day late because of airplane issues. Prepaid a weeks worth of rental with a vehicle. Told me I was late over 24 hours and the reservation was canceled. I can understand if they rented out all of their vehicles, but they had a lot full of cars. Told them cool, give me back my money. Told me no. Spoke to corporate. No help. I will NEVER work with this company again. I encourage everyone to do the same. Went down to National and told them what I was going through. Rented me a vehicle right away. Told me they would never treat me this way. I believe them. Go with another choice. Do not use Dollar.

I just had an awesome experience with this company. I had never used them before so I was nervous, but I was so pleasantly surprised! I received excellent customer service from start to finish from helpful directions to my final destination from the check in staff to an upgrade in my vehicle for free when they didn't have my original car available because another renter was late returning it to immediately taking off the charge of the rented toll pass when I ended up not using it. The car was clean and ran great. Everyone treated me with professionalism. The entire process was smooth! Thanks! I will rent from here again!

Rented from this agency and it was an absolute nightmare. I waited far too long, even though they claimed they had no cars available, despite having at least 5 other vehicles from different classes on the lot. The staff was extremely rude, unresponsive, and irresponsible. On top of that, there was a crowd of us waiting for the gate to open and no one was even manning the kiosk! There was an excessive line of equally frustrated customers all waiting for cars. This is hands down the worst rental car experience I've ever had. I've been waiting for over an hour even after providing all my information. Would not recommend.

Do not rent from Dollar. They gave my wife a car that had the toll pass box activated and even though we paid cash for the tolls they still charged us for the use of the box. When she returned the car she noticed it was open and spoke to the representatives and they said not to worry it would not be charged. They did charge us and handed the charge off to another company and they say they cannot waive the fee. Whoever cleaned the car before we had it did not reset the sliding box and now they are charging me $32 and will not work with me to waive the fee. I will never rent from Dollar again. Poor customer service.

Decided to try Dollar since they were cheaper than the other options at MDW. I ended up waiting about an hour until they had a car ready, but the desk staff were friendly through everything. Car was decent, but getting a follow up letter about a week and a half later saying the rental was overdue was not something I was looking to see. I called customer service and they said not to worry, but... Yeah. At drop off several employees were at the garage office, but none came to the car to immediately check it in like other providers I have used. Unlikely to use Dollar again unless the price is WAY lower than others.

Charged $762 for what was a $556 rental. The WORST car rental company I’ve ever dealt with. I won’t make this long because I want someone to actually read it. NO ONE is at the counter for your reservation time. They CHARGE you for things that you verbally say no to. When you ask for it to get taken off, they give a number to a call center who only handles making a reservation. You’ll ask for the right department to handle it, they’ll give you the same number you just called. Ask for a supervisor or manager, they say there isn’t one. Corporate number, can’t find it or don’t know it. They are TERRIBLE.

I recently had to drop a car at a local airport location about 15 miles away from where I picked it up. That is universally a courtesy for business travelers, with little or no cost. Not only did Dollar not warn me that the two day rental would go from $90 to $300 for that minor change (when I called their helpdesk), they wouldn't let me fix the situation by taking the car back to the other location when I realized they were going to pick my pocket. The situation is still in dispute. I won't use them again unless the situation is rectified, and I would encourage others to look elsewhere.

We rented through Expedia with Dollar and when I arrived for my reserved car that was made 2 months in advance there was over an hour wait with no information as to when a car would be available. They didn't even let me know when I checked in that there were no cars available. I had to ask and others had been waiting before me over 2 hours. I ended up cancelling and going with another rental agency that did have cars even without a reservation. They also would not give me a refund of my money through Expedia! Never will rent through Dollar Car Rental again.

We "reserved" a car a *week* ahead of time. When we arrived at the pick up location, they told us it could be a 2 1/2 hour wait (or more, or less) until they had a car ready and there were 10 or so people ahead of us waiting on their rentals. Why Dollar is renting cars out when they don't have any available is beyond stupid, not to mention unethical. Apparently they are incapable of bringing in cars from other locations to fill demand, or of purchasing more vehicles to grow their fleet. We won't be renting with Hertz or any of its brands again.

The staff working in the garage didn’t have shirts identifying themselves as employees and had no intention of guiding or directing customers to the right area. There is a significant broken process between the front desk and the garage staff that had dozens of customers running back and forth. Customer service is not a priority. Nor is getting a rental on time. You get what you pay for here, folks. Skip this place.

I have rented from the Midway Dollar location twice now, likely like everyone else because they are significantly cheaper than the competition. Both times were bad (not as bad as some of the other reviews), but mainly having to wait ~2 hours in their very long line with one customer service person working while the rest of the car rental desks a few steps away are empty. The hassle of that alone makes me pay the $100 extra to avoid this experience again, if not an even worse experience other reviewers had at this location.

Being that there are no hotels in the immediate area, when flights get delayed as most are these days. You would think that a rental agency would have someone staffed later to allow people to get their reserved vehicals. I had to stay in the terminal from 11:45 to 7am as did about 6 other groups. No way I'm ever renting from Dollar or flying into Midway again. No one was willing to help anyone else. It was sad watching families with kids have no choice but to lay on the ground worrying about getting robbed. Shameful.

No cars when we arrived here at Midway Airport. About 7 families waiting. Please read this and book Avis or another rental company if flying in to Midway. Apparently it's a common practice at this location. If I'd had read the reviews, I'd have told my wife who made the reservation to book elsewhere. Also, no assistance when calling the home office. Only a recording saying they're closed. Zero help, if you're reading this review, please pay extra to reserve with a company that's better suited for customer service.

Boyfriend and I had our first experience renting a car from them last week.... and our last. Wait on hold for over 30 mins before you even speak to a human being when you call, for even just a simple question. Car wifi does not work. Very long lines at the place because, apparently, they can't staff properly. I hope they are paying the very few employees enough to deal with customer frustrations. Also, extra unexplained charges! Large ones! Wow, I do not recommend anyone fall into this trap!

Excellent service at this Dollar, as with many others. Tip: sign up online for the Express service, reserve online, and you can skip the reservation office at the ground floor and go straight to the Dollar booth on the third floor of the parking lot and show them your email confirmation. Dollar has a tendency of upgrading you to a better vehicle, for already low prices. The car rental area is a little distance from the airport, but Midway offers free shuttle service back and forth.

WORST EMPLOYEES!!!! Rude and disgusting are the nice ways that I would describe the worker I dealt with at this location. I will be calling the corporate office and extensively complaining about the terrible customer service I was provided. Absolutely do NOT spend your money here because it isn’t going to good people, at all. Did a Reservation over a month ago and get to the car rental at the time I reserved and was told that I had a hour to wait. I over hear someone say they waited for 2hrs. This is a joke I paid upfront to make sure that I had a car when I landed and now have to wait. Wasn't even offered any compensation or anything just rudness. I wasn't even told that a hold would be placed on my card as I heard the person next to me being told this. Don't rent from here unless you like to wait.

It was ok. Picking up the car the staff were great. Bringing it back, well not so great. Not very friendly, even my wife remarked how the lady seemed bothered by having to do anything. So about the car. Honda CR-V, wasn't full of gas. Had to point it out to them. It smelled like air freshener when we picked it up, but the next day after having the windows up it smelled like old cigarettes and weed. So we had to air it out for like 5 minutes in the AM before driving anywhere.

They gave me a Ford Ecosport on 7/27 w/ a little over 41,000 miles on it. When I got in the car it was FILTHY!!! The 2 Clorox wipes I used to clean it were filthy and someone's receipts from July 16th were left in the car, so I know it hadn't been cleaned at all! Not only is the car filthy, it's sluggish like it needs an oil change. I don't ever want to rent from them again! The least they could do is wipe the stearing wheel down when cars are returned.

Missed a funeral because of the total incompetent employees at this location. All the employees were acting like they were all coming off a Coke binge. After being told it would be 15 min wait for new cars to show up even though I reserved one month in advance I ended up waiting over an hour and a half and the desk person just looked at me and said"so what not my problem". I mean it's kinda mind blowing they are legally allowed to operate like this

I reserved a car online a week ago. Upon arriving to the rental car counter I was informed that there were no cars available and I would have to wait 45 minutes to an hour. I have been waiting for over an hour at this point with no developments. I asked the manager what was going on and he assured me that they overbooked, but cars were on the way. There are about 10-12 people still currently waiting for cars. I will never book with Dollar again.

If I could leave a 0 star review I would! This is by far the worst experience I’ve had! My rental car was very nasty and unsanitary. Food and grease crumbs all over the console, floor dirty, passenger seat stained and marked with ink. Upon submitting my complaint they totally ignored me then 2 weeks later charged me $482. Upon me calling for the 6th time they offered me a $50 rental voucher. I was LIVID and will NEVER rent from them again!

Received my car was in and out. was a 30 minute wait... The staff worked the best they could... half the problem is the people renting not having their paperwork right! You must have a Valid CREDIT Card(not debit card) and the Same One you used to book the reservation with so every thing can go smooth at check in and they take a $200 hold. So if you don't have enough credit available for that.... You shouldn't be renting a car anyway!

We arrived three hours late to the airport for pick-up due to our delayed flight. I didn't have any problems picking up my vehicle after my scheduled time. We had fantastic customer service from Kayla. She explained everything about our rental and was very helpful! The car was terrific and very clean. Easy return as well and the attendant checking the vehicle back in was pleasant as well! I would rent from Thrifty again in the future.

My 4 stars are for Charles the rep at Thrifty car rental midway airport. Now the drivers of the shuttle I'm not giving 4 stars. They don't greet you, they don't offer to help you with your bags. I've seen older people trying to store their luggage on the shuttle buses by themselves, clearly not strong enough to lift the bags. The process was quick and the prices were reasonable considering it's a holiday weekend.

They had one employee attending to a line of waiting customers. No cars were available so everyone needed to wait after checking in for cars to arrive. What’s the point of setting your arrival time of you need to wait for a car? Employee seemed annoyed that customers were frustrated at having to wait for cars. “I have no idea when your car will be ready” seems to be an appropriate response to a paying customer.

I prepaid 300 dollars for a Toyota RAV 4 and when we got to the car rental place they told us that we couldn’t use the car we prepaid for because my husband didn’t pass the credit check. If you need to pass a credit check why not do that online BEFORE I pay 300 bucks?? I’m still waiting for my money back. We had to take a Lyft and pay 200 bucks to go to our destination and another 200 to get back to the airport

doesn't matter if you request a car for a specific time and date, they wont have your car, they will ration out cars to anyone even if that's not the car you picked, and that's not that bad, I'm not picky I just know most people would hate that. what's worse is that they don't have any cars and the car you rented wont be available for another 3 hours, because they gave it to the person ahead of you.

I booked my car rental almost two weeks ago to arrive here and it’s NO CAR. The lady at the front desk said she doesn’t know how long it’s going to be before a car show up. So basically y’all over booked and we have wait until someone return a car to get a car. I’m so lost on what’s really going on here. I will never book with place again. This company charge me $100 for $9 tolls explaining that $90 is a late fee when I was never explained anything about tolls. They also charged my card without my authorization. I don't care what's in their contract. (Thanks for the automated sounding response below, at this point it's worth the $109.00 to warn your new customers not to rent from Dollar Rental Company. My only complaint it that we weren't told that there are tollways in Illinois and there is an option to activate a pass in the rental car to get us through the tollways without having to go get a bunch of change and stop at every tollway to dump a bunch of change into the cage. This would have been very helpful information.

We rented a car from this place on 4/15/2023. We received the worst service. We had reserved and pre-paid for a car, but when we arrived there, there was no car available. There were so many people who also paid and did not get a car. We waited more than 4 hours before they could get us a car. The staff were very rude on top of it. Same as everyone else. Showed up at Midway Airport and had a car reserved for 6PM. When we arrived at the Dollar booth, there were no cars and two groups ahead of us. We were told 40-45 minutes. It turned out to be 1 hour and 20 minutes. The manager kept telling everyone that they were under staffed. Stay away. No excuse for consistent terrible service.

Don’t have any cars even though we pre-paid and had a reservation. Stay clear of this company if you want a rental car! After an hour and 40 mins got a car, but not the one we requested and our stuff hardly fit. Don’t rent from them!! Just got a bill for a toll road for $8 (totally fine) except they charged us a $75 processing fee on top of it!

The "upgrade" was a small sedan, what a joke. When making a request to be refunded the $40 due to their own ineptitude, was told no, you agreed to the terms. Highway robbery!

Avoid this place at all costs. We paid for two cars at the same time and we had to wait a long time for the second car. We had a plan to go to dinner before Thea cubs VS Sox game. Why are they still in business!? The staff have half a brain, and management reflects it. Rented through Wisecars, and they sent our registration in the same 48 hours it's takes to cancel! Unresponsive & unreliable. Drove an hour here to pick up my economy car, they say only a much higher value car type is available. I even booked on an off-season day... They loop you in with a cheap car that's not available, get you to drive or fly to Chicago, shouldn't even be legal.

Arrived at midway and was told there is a 45 minute wait for cars even though I had a reservation. This is unacceptable, inform people you don't have cars, send a notification that there will be a wait so people have time to change to another company. I'll never use them again

We are now at Midway waiting for our vehicle to be "ready". We have had a short wait - only 1 1/2 hours. There are people here who have waited more than 2 hours. Everyone here had a reservation but no one can explain why vehicles aren't " ready". Never rent from Dollar!

Wonderful staff. Some wait but not unbearable. Credit cards are 200 deposit. Debit cards are 500 deposit. Quick transaction once we got to the person to checkout. Prepaid is the way to go. You have to self inspect the vehicle upon possession, mark all issues you see.

Don't get the toll package! It's a complete rip-off! We we're charged $14.99 a day on a 11 day rental. We used the toll road twice. We payed $202 dollars for about $15.00 in toll usage. We should have just passed through the tolls and paid later.
