One star is too many I arrived at Jacksonville Airport with the intention of picking up a rental car from Dollar, which is owned by Hertz. Unfortunately, my experience was marked by frustration and a lack of professionalism. The situation began with an hour-long wait in line due to a single agent working at the rental desk. When I finally reached the counter and presented my ID and debit card, I was surprised to find that the rental agents had my name listed as "Zach" on the contract, despite my legal name being "Zachary" on all my official documents. This inconsistency posed a significant problem, as my entire itinerary, including flights for my family, was booked through Expedia under my correct legal name. Despite providing evidence of my name and the coordination of my plans, the rental agents insisted on their internal records. I was directed to contact Expedia to resolve the name mismatch, which added further inconvenience to the situation. After communicating with Expedia and returning to the rental desk, I was hopeful when the agent's supervisor was called over to assist. However, my optimism was short-lived as the supervisor showed a complete lack of interest. Even when Expedia attempted to call the location to address the issue, and I could hear the phone audibly ringing, the supervisor dismissively declined to assist, insisting that the name on the contract was incorrect and there was nothing he could do.. This frustrating encounter led me to the unfortunate decision of renting from another company. The dissonance between the name "Dollar" and the service I experienced left me deeply disappointed. It is regrettable that Dollar Car Rental, a subsidiary of Hertz, fell short of providing a satisfactory level of service, which has overshadowed any value associated with their brand. Do not rent from Dollar (OR THRIFTY) as they are both child companies of Hertz. EDIT: After my initial review, Hertz reached out to me. After speaking with one of their agents, who was the most pleasant person of the entire interaction, blame was still put on me and expedia for messing up the booking. They offered to have the manager of this specific site reach out to me – in response to the unwillingness of their agents to assist when i was doing exactly what they told me to do – but at the end of the day what was done was done and nothing this person could say would change the fact that they screwed over a paying customer. Instead I decided to come back here after taking time to cool off and truly analyze the situation, and edit this review accordingly.

ABSOLUTELY THE WORST CAR RENTAL EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD!!! I was referred to Dollar by a friend of mine a big selling point being the price. I went to their website to pre-book a car through the site and pay the difference at pickup as it was supposed to save me money or at least that's how it was marketed online. Once I get to the location to pick up the car at 10:00pm at the Jacksonville Airport with no one else in line, the clerk was looking down on his phone while i waited in line with no one in front of me to see if he would acknowledge me. He didn't. I physically walked up to the counter and surprised him when I said "Hey how's it going?". Then the nightmare began. When I went to pay for the rental with my debit/check card the guy informed me that I must use a Credit Card due to company policy. I didn't have my credit card on me, as I don't use them. I was confused as to why when I payed online for the booking they charged my card but now at the counter they couldn't use that same card. He insisted it was "Company Policy" and insisted I call customer service. I did, right there and they were no help either. Only alternative the phone rep gave was a refund, one which she had no authorization to complete and I would have had to call another number she provided to me. At this point I am beyond frustrated as it is getting late and I need the car for the next morning at 5:00am. I had to get a ride back to my house to get my Credit Card and go back to the airport and finish the booking. If only that was the end. Once I came back the clerk who originally assisted me had already left, so it was clear I was an inconvenience to him as he was near his shift. Another rep for Thrifty was there who apparently is under the same parent company. I told him i didn't want any thing i didn't need to rent the car. I was charged $50+ in some insurance i don't remember accepting and fees. by this point, I was tired and thought that was the difference of the booking cost. Days later I called customer service and they didn't have access to my online pre-booking, as it is done through a 3rd party, apparently. By this point I accepted the loss. I WILL NEVER USE DOLLAR AGAIN, NOR WILL I EVER REFER ANYONE TO THIS TERRIBLE BAIT AND SWITCH COMPANY. THEY HAVE LOST THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR THE GAIN OF $40 FROM ME. Lesson of the Day: Cheaper is Not better value.

Horrible. From customer service to not having the car or equivalent I rented available only to be up charged an additional $350 for an upgrade for a “luxury suv” only to receive a Hemi Dodge Durango was not any luxury Tahoe or the equivalent. It cost me almost double for gas with that Hemi. Then they want to charge $50 and “additional fees” and taxes for an extra 30 mins to an hour for late drop off. Construction is horrible I was stuck on the freeway longer than expected. To return a full day later will cost me over $100 BUT if I return any earlier than 10am they charge for early return. Oh no they wont prorate for early return to help save for a value customer they charge you MORE. But if you’re a half hour later “Give me, give me, give me”. “Dollar” means every dollar for them, not any savings for you. What was supposed to cost me $480 (this is including gas!) out the door…I have now spent a over $1000 for all the additional fees and the cost of paying more for a “luxury” Durango and the astronomical gas because of their lack of inventory. And I can’t be teeny bit late… or arrive early. NEVER AGAIN. Stick with the Hertz or Enterprise…places like this. It may seem like more when initially searching but I suspect you get what you pay for, the customer service should be more empathetic and kind (guy on the phone was cold and caused a lot of stress while sitting in the middle of a freeway in traffic) , and they most likely will have better perks. I’m the end you will probably pay the same if not less going through a less sketchy reputable car rental company. Oh! And try not to book through 3rd parties like Booking. That’s a whole other issue.

An absolute crook. When at the check-in counter the man in the picture below was acting very suspicious (hence why I took the picture and I’ve never done anything like this before). He tried to switch the car I had rented via Expedia saying he wanted to “get us a free upgrade” and took my ID to the back to ask his boss. He was gone in the back for an oddly long time. We added a driver to the reservation and I declined the insurance. Come to find out even though I said no to the insurance he put it on the contract anyways. When a female tells a man no, she means no! At check out the lady asked if I had any questions about my final bill when she presented it to me. I said yes, it’s a lot higher than what I rented it for via Expedia. She said it was because of the added insurance. That crook added it even though I said NO! I asked if he got commission on the added insurance because it didn’t make sense why it was added. She wouldn’t answer me. She kept deflecting the question. Please do not rent from this company. I’ve already filled out the “how was your experience” from an email they sent after my reservation. I told them and they were supposed to contact me. No surprise…. They haven’t got ahold of me yet. Please, don’t be swindled by this rental company like me. Especially this slimey jerk!

We booked a car through priceline. When my mother arrived to get the car, she realized unfortunately she had an expired credit card. The car had already been paid for, she needed to pay a deposit. They wanted to charge her $1000 to use her debit card, which she wanted to use to pay for it. They wouldn't allow anyone else to use their credit card JUST FOR THE DEPOSIT. Mind you, the car was already paid for. Then, somehow, to have someone else take over as the driver, they got charged a $475 NONREFUNDABLE DEPOSIT and then weren't even sure if they had a car at all? The counter clerk was not helpful, it's impossible to reach this place by phone, they don't pick up and the corporate number leads nowhere. Why is there a huge fee for debit and a NONREFUNDABLE deposit for anyone in her party to use it? Why not just add him as a second driver if that's a big deal? They needed a car so they took it but THE DEPOSIT even if it's 475 instead of 200 for being a different card than hers should be refundable. That's MORE than what it cost to book the car for the entire week! Did I mention IT WAS ALREADY PAID FOR! What a scam. Anything to get any extra fees and ZERO customer service.

I reserved a car from here before I flew into Jacksonville, fl international airport. earlier in the day at 3 pm I called to confirm that my reservation was available and they assured me my car would be available for pickup when my flight landed . When I arrived at the airport at 11 pm the same day the lady at the dollar front desk inside the terminal told me along with about 50 other people, who also had reservations, that she had no more cars available. She then called the cops on us because we were upset!! I promise we were not being disrespectful nor posing any threat to her safety. Be very cautious when booking through this company I am currently writing this review at 2:53 am stranded inside Jacksonville international airport with my ten year old sleeping next to me, I cannot even get a taxi I have been trying for 3 hours. The most irritating thing is that I just checked their website to see if I am able to book a car for tomorrow and they are telling me that there are cars available, whereas enterprise, hertz, Avis, and budget all let their customers know that they do not have any cars available on their website. Be cautious book elsewhere

I gave it 3 stars because pick up and return service was quick & easy. Staff was friendly, and I was happy to be able to actually get a Nissan Rogue. However I can always smell when someone has smoked in a rental the moment I get in, and this car reeked of it. Everything looked clean but I felt a little uneasy due to the smell so I decided to wipe the interior down and below is a photo of wipes after cleaning just the center counsel and passenger side. It clearly says you will pay a fine for smoking but what does that fine pay for because they clearly did not clean the car and attempt to get the smell out. After wiping everything down with Clorox and adding multiple air fresheners the cigarette smell started to disappear. I know it will smell good for the next driver bc of me. Tip: wipe down everything including back of mirrors which were very brown on gray interior. Overall it was a nice ride. I would rent again, and just know to do a quick wipe down.

We made a reservation like 3 months ago, $600+ paid! When it's time to pick the car up they don't have it, 10 minutes later they had it, good! When it's time to process they do not accept my wife credit card because I'm the one driving, like what! You telling me that after $600+ dollars paid I can not pick the car up because my driver's license is not the same credit card info used for reservation, even though is my wife, so she can not drive but she can not paid either, why tha heck don't specify that when the reservation was done... anyway they said 10 minutes, she told me 15 minutes to get the car ready and finally 25 minutes after everything was done, after a hefty communication with customer service, not the person that attended me at the counter had the fault, she was cool, but the company policy is ridiculous... I have rented a whole lot of cars I drive my wife paid, never had an issue, always a first-time

Navigating the world of rental cars can often be a daunting task, but Mikayla at Dollar Rent a Car at the Jacksonville Airport made my entire experience a breeze. From the moment I walked in with a myriad of concerns, Mikayla’s warm demeanor and reassuring attitude put me instantly at ease. It’s evident that she isn’t just a regular associate, but a true connoisseur of the rental car industry. Her insights on maximizing fuel economy and enhancing vehicle performance were not only beneficial but showcased her deep knowledge and commitment to customer satisfaction. It’s rare to come across someone as dedicated, professional, and personable as Mikayla. Her guidance transformed my usual car rental apprehensions into a pleasant and enlightening journey. If you’re ever at the Jacksonville airport and in need of a rental car, do yourself a favor and seek out Mikayla at Dollar!

I need someone to help me here; If one books a reservation for a car, should the company then not honor that reserveration? I spent over an hour waiting for vehicles to become available at the Rental Desk, the woman that assisted me told me to wait to the side and that there would be cars available. I proceeded to wait to the side, mind you she did not look at my confirmation number or take down my name at all for me to be next available to receive a car, and she proceeds to leave to take break. Now, I am basically at the back of the line with this and I am beyond frustated at this point. Please, make a better system that can guarentee a more sound experience for individuals that make reserveration; If you are not gonna have the cars available due to overlapping usage, just be transparent. For now, I cannot recommend this service to anyone that I know.

RUN THE OTHER WAY!!! I pre-paid $200 for my car before my trip. Once I arrived to my surprise I was told I'd be charged another $274. Once I asked I was told by the agent that $180 of the fee was Airport Taxes. We got up at 2:45am for our flight and it was 1pm - I was exhausted!! Once I got home and reviewed the receipt I realized there were $180 of "Additional Products" added to my bill. Loss Damage Waiver - $139.96 and Premium Roadside Service - $39.96. I called and spoke to an agent and a Supervisor. Because I "signed" on the keypad I accepted the charges and they will do nothing. Now that I read the reviews, this is what they do. BEWARE AND RUN THE OTHER WAY! Never again!! BTW - not sure how this company gets a 2.9 star rating. Every rating I'm seeing is 1 star - and that's only because you can't leave a 0 or negative rating.

  • Kenny Starling

Avoid this agency like the plague. I used the return box to drop off my rental, they didn't open it until the next day so naturally they charged my for an extra day. I told the girl at the counter I had already purchased insurance through Expedia and was never even asked about "premium roadside service" however both of these, totalling $250 both showed up on my final statement. When I called customer service they said there was nothing that could be done since I had already returned the car. And that I should've checked my brochure while I had he car. I wasn't aware it was my responsibility to make sure your employees aren't committing fraud and correct them before a charge posts that "nothing can be done" to fix. If they are the only option, you'll be better off walking

  • Mart Ratliff

Worst customer service experience I have ever run into: I was flying in from Texas and had prepaid for a car rental to be picked up at the airport. I get there and find out I had my wife's card and the desk won't release the vehicle. I have my wife take a picture of the front and back of my card as well as her DL. The desk person was rude and unhelpful and when I told her I needed to speak with someone who could help me resolve the problem rather than tell me why they wouldn't help she promised that she would make sure I was denied any vehicle. The only reason I gave them 2 stars instead of one is that when I called the corporate customer service department they actually helped me resolve the issue and I got my rental. This will be the last time I use Dollar in Jax!

  • Kyleigh Cooper

Horrible experience renting here. The customer service is horrible!!! It took us over 30+ minutes to find the dang car because it was not anywhere near where they said it was. We had a rock chip in the front windshield of the vehicle when we received it. The rock chip grew into a 2 foot crack across the windshield because of the Florida heat and rain. Nobody would return my calls, let alone answer any of my questions. Everyone I talked to all had different answers and couldn’t help us. Now we are being blamed for the damage when it was not even our faults and we have pictures to prove it. Returning the car was even a bigger joke and the lady helping us was so disrespectful and rude to us. Avoid dollar at all costs!!!!

  • Dana Pompa

What a great experience! After our 9:30pm flight was delayed and we arrived at the rental counter at 2am, and were greeted by Brett, one amazing human ! We are beyond grateful that they waited for our flight to arrive. As we walked past the other car rental places their lines were wrapped and other were screaming they had been waiting 2 hours for cars. Dollar had no line and Brett was a breath of fresh air at such an awful hour. They kept their cool and interacted will all the other companies customers as well as their own. I have never written a review for a car rental place before but this was top notch. We ended up getting the last car they had because we had a reservation. Brett is an all star! Thank you

  • Andi Burt

This company is honestly one of the worst I’ve interacted with. I came to Florida for a work trip, booked and paid for my car weeks in advance, arrived at the desk today and only then was informed that since I didn’t have a credit card on me, I would have a credit score check and a hold for $500 placed on my debit card. Because that money isn’t in my account, I’m currently stranded at the Jacksonville airport with no idea how I’m going to make it to the Tampa airport for my flight tomorrow morning. I can not believe how bad the communication about this caveat has been, or that this company is comfortable taking customer’s money just to leave them stranded. Such a truly awful and stressful experience.

  • YOLO Harris

IF I COULD GIVE THIS LOCATION A NEGATIVE 0 I WOULD. I RENTED A VEHICLE FOR A CLIENT AND MY CLIENT HAD TO WAIT FOR 45 MINUTES BEFORE PICKING UP THE VEHICLE. ALSO, THEY HAD MY CLIENT MIXED UP WITH ANOTHER RENTER WITH THE SAME LAST NAME, WHICH HAD TO BE STRAIGHTENED OUT WHILE WAITING. MY CLIENT WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE OF THE MIXUP HE DID NOT HAVE TO FILL THE CAR BACK UP. OKAY... GOOD. BUT..... A WEEK LATER MY CLIENT WAS CHARGED AN EXTRA $149.62 THAT HE DID NOT ASK FOR TO COVER INSURANCE THAT HE DECLINED. THIS COMPANY IS HORRIBLE AND CUSTOMER SERVICE OVER THE PHIONE STINKS. I HAVE DONE A LOT OF BUSINESS RENTING VEHICLES FOR CLIENTS AND THIS HAS BEEN MY WORST EXPERIENCE TO DATE. DON'T RENT FROM HERE!!!!!

  • Dirk Spahn

Never, never ever again. This was by far the worst car rental experience in my life. Okay, I booked a mystery vehicle. That was most probably my mistake. BUT, I didn't expect to get an EV in an area where the charging infrastructure for non Tesla cars is worse than in the deepest desert. There are a few public chargers in Jacksonville (many of them are out of order), so you have to plan every trip precisely. This still might be acceptable. But in the Palatka area for example there is absolutely no charger available. We fairly could not use the car. So I asked Dollar for an alternative: The guy at the rental desk offered me a $300 premium for a gas car. Unbelievable. That feels like fraud.

  • Thomas Daggett

The individual who helped me the first time I waited in line to get my rental car was extremely rude to my wife. His arrogance and lack of compassion was beyond frustrating as we are customer and we’re not asking for anything out of the ordinary. It’s sad that this type of experience is becoming the norm and that it’s less surprising every time it happens. Today 9-16-23 the gentleman with curly hair and a beard at this location guaranteed that I will never again be spending money with Dollar rental or any of its partner companies. I understand staffing is tough as I employe hourly employees in my job but employing the wrong people can cost you far more than not hiring at all.

  • Viktoriya Peric

After reading previous reviews, we sure were hesitant and was worried if we would get the car that we requested. Considering the inventory shortage and lack of companies that offer drop it off in a different state made us hesitant. We booked thought a third party on line. Zero issues! We were also able to upgrade our original booking to more spacious option. The lady at front desk was super helpful and friendly. Naturally people would only leave a review when they are upset and things don’t go right. But we had a great experience with this place. With high volume of flights cancelations Dollar rental saved us from buying last minute very expensive return flight! Thank you!!!

  • Jim Henley

Terrible Terrible Terrible experience with not only this Dollar Rental but also Expedia! Never again. We had booked our rental 6 weeks in advance. Flying into Jacksonville and driving to Orlando (3 hours). Delta arrived late and Dollar had NO vehicles to rent out, not even for those that had reservations. They just up and gave their entire fleet away, or at least that is what the poor lady at the counter was telling everyone. She wasn't the friendliest of people, but Dollar also did her wrong by making her sit there and deal with all of the angry customers, I wasn't the only one. Never use Expedia and never us dollar again!

  • Jane Smith

Had a great experience with Jacob at Dollar. We arrived around 10pm on a Saturday night and no line to wait in. We had set up the reservation prior to arrival. We originally had a mid size car but we asked if they had a convertible available and happened to have our favorite, a Mustang. So we upgraded and got a great deal. Sign the paperwork, handed me the keys and out you go across the street to the parking garage. Then you just drive away, no check out before leaving the parking garage. Car was clean and had no issues. Easiest car rental I’ve had in awhile. Would rent there again when we come back to visit friends.

  • Tim Flood

Beware when you get your car as they offer you three service options. They don't mention that you can decline all, even when I asked as I prepaid on a third party site I was told I needed to select one. Never said I could decline. So I choose basic thinking it was nothing and included in what I purchased. Nope upon check out got hit with $50 a day cost which was more than the rental was! Shady and unethical practice. When I called customer service all I was told was I initialed the contract. Merry Christmas to me! Needless to say, i'll never rent from Dollar again and word of mouth will spread as far as I can.

  • Andres Robles

Rent the car in Orlando int. Airport everything was fine in that terminal, but when I arrived at the Jacksonville Int. airport terminal there was no staff to receive the car. Between 6pm and 6:45pm, I went to the counter and the gentleman told me to put the car key in a box that they have in the counter and then I left it there, and surprise of $221.00 that the rent cost me, they are charging me $341.89 and that three hours late when I deliver it 6 hours before, it is not my fault that Dollar does not have anyone to receive the car, check the counter cameras between 6pm and 7pm. reservation number K37434842B1

  • Joy Berry

This was the worst experience I’ve ever had at a business. After I attempted to resolve the situation with the information the woman at reservation desk provided me I still was unable to pick up my rental. She denied the information she gave me was incorrect. Refused to give us her name. Yelled at both of us from the counter when we said we were contacting corporate. This happened on Mother’s Day. I missed seeing my family and the event we had planned because of this. I understand there were issues from booking from a third party. But how we were treated should never happen at a business.

  • jen Ah

The communication is terrible here. I specifically said I had paid for my car online with the tax fees due. I did not want insurance, collision and other extra changes. The agent charged me an $365 rather than the $81 balance. From the reviews this sounds like this isn’t the first time they have over charged and not followed the customers wishes. When I reached out to customer service I got the run around. Numbers given to me that were out of service and an online submission form that never worked with another out of service number to call. Be very careful if renting from this company.

  • Bractn Williams

I would give them zero stars if I could! Worst car rental company ever! Worst customer service ever! They refused to honor my original reservation forcing me to do a new one at a walk in rate which cost twice as much. No manager or anyone in the company wanted to help me. This place is a joke! Did a credit card dispute, dollar accepted the claim and dropped the difference, 8 MONTHS later we get a call from collections that we owe them money. No one in that company or Hertz, the parent company, wanted to help. Avoid this company at all costs! Worst experience ever!

  • Susan MacLeod

Bait and switch, zero stars! Couldn't find my reservation even with my confirmation#, repeated calls to 800#took 3 hours; they "didn't have my car ready" so they offered me an "upgrade special" - extra $35 a day! They push the damage waiver and expensive prepaid gas on everyone (honestly how do you people sleep at night?), wanted extra $8 a day to let my spouse drive despite my reservation thru their reward program which includes this. Ended up going to a different co at the counter. Will never use them again.

  • Francisco Ocasio

They have super terrible customer service, I made a reservation with expedia and paid for everything including the insurance and when I picked it up at the airport they charged me another insurance of $140.00 dollars and when I asked why the employee didn't tell me anything except that I had to pay that one quantity. For that reason the reviews are so bad but that only happens once because I never use their services again and I don't recommend them either. So they won't last long on the market.

  • Tina Heffernan

I only gave them a one because there is no zero! This was the worst rental car experience that I have ever had. We reserved our car a month before the trip and when we arrived we were told that there were no cars available. No apology, no help or suggestions on what to do, and a horrible attitude from the staff. We ended up having to spend $200 more for a car at Avis and are now fighting with Dollar to refund our money! We will never, ever use this company again.

  • Jessica Liebrecht

If I could give a negative I would. Went to pick up our “reserved” car and Harris proceeded to tell us he had no cars. He then said this is your only way in our out I guess I can give you an SUV. Otherwise I have nothing. It will only increase your cost by 150%! When we asked why he wasn’t honoring our reservation he said it’s a much nicer car and somehow it was okay to give our car away then make our coats nearly triple what we expected.

  • Debbie Zelinski

I rented a car 6 weeks in advance of travel plans. After waiting in line way to long, I couldn't wait to get the car. The rep said is "a Chevy Malibu ok?". I don't know anything about these cars and assumed he was following my rental agreement. He never told me it was an upgrade and would cost more money. He was deceitful and dishonest, unethical business practices. I will never rent from dollar again. People beware.

  • C C

While standing in line waiting to get to the counter to rent a car, there were two employees working. Both took a 15 minutes break a we stood in line. It was slow with two, but really slow with one. Waiting for a car was almost as long as my flight. Worst customer service for a prepaid car. They know when people are coming in. I was earlier than my reserved time, but way after once I got to the front of the line.

  • Ahmed Talha

Be careful with added fees. They tried to charge me $40 for "taxes and fees." When I refused to pay $40 more, he told me it was because I had arrived 30 minutes early. I waited another 30 minutes and got the car at a price my reservation was originally for. It's usually not a good idea to accept the gas fees, by the way. If time is a concern or you don't mind filling up, then maybe it's worth it for you.

  • Christine Mair

Had a VERY LOVELY experience with this rental location. The staff were super sweet and friendly, they were out of the cheaper car so I got a nicer one at no cost, very smooth pick up and drop off with no line. Charges were exactly as advertised, they gave clear instructions for drop off in terms of gas and signage to follow when I return, car was in great shape, etc.

  • Andy Kaufman

I rented a car from Dollar in Aqaba Jordan. The car was all beat up and the brakes were not the greatest. When you rent from Dollar you are supposed to get American Airlines Frequent Flyer miles. After at least 6 attempts to get the miles, I still have been unable to get the miles credited or an explanation as to why. I suggest that you rent from someone else.

  • Jess S.

Terrible service. Ripped us off over $600 for a rental that was supposed to be covered by airline miles. They should be sued for fraud. They verbally asked us “do you want insurance, sunpass, etc” and we declined all but the man at the counter must have overwritten it all then got us to sign for it. Such an utter scam. Never again! Lost a customer for life

  • Maria Katz

Stay away from it. Got charged for two days I didn’t have a car, because it broke down. They charged me $80 for an “upgrade”. Lied about replacement vehicle available, and finally said they will tow me to Jacksonville or Tampa, while I was in Ocala. They didn’t care that I needed to be in Gainesville. Had to pay out of pocket for Lyft too.

  • Sean C (sc-ridef4iver)

Extremely rude front desk clerk on the first go around. The worst I’ve ever experienced. Ended up with a flat (no one’s fault). Exchanged for a second car with tire/suspension issues/noise. Something was clearly wrong. Finally on the 3rd car we got a fantastic clerk and a nice car. Will not be using dollar anytime soon.

  • Robert Jurado

Good service, but s tip of warning, I rented a car through Expedia and included the insurance. When I droped off the car, there was a crack on the windshield. I had to paid $155 because the insurance is not part of the company and had to file a report to the 3rd party. It took over a month to get the money back.

  • Molly Ringer

Charlatans. These people will bait and switch you. Try to tell youthat your reservation was for an EV though it wasn't and then demand twice the rental rate you reserved to switch you out. Uber to the Enterprise rent a car on Main St if the airport location is sold out. Much better service, and fair rates!

  • Hannah Upham

Every rental service has their issues, but Dollar Cars was slick and easy for us! We walked right up and we’re able to get just what we need for a very short wait! The prices were great and the considerate and kind customer service was such a breath of fresh air from the last company we rented from!

  • smalls p

I just want to share that I had an efficient and friendly employee check me in, the car was totally fine(Chevy Spark's are dinky cars but it got me through rough rain safely) and the price from Priceline was the best of all the rental car companies. Pay ahead y'all and avoid the headache of no cars!

  • Anne Rogel

We booked a reservation in June for 10/19 at 11:30pm. My husband waited in line for an hour WITH A 9 yr old only to be told THERE WERE NO MORE CARS. 45 min and $50 on an Uber later they finally got to their hotel. When I called this morning, I had to waste another 30 min on the phone. Unacceptable.

i rented this car, a Nissan Rogue, from that agency. Front desk was totally unfriendly, the car was dirty and very horrible maintenance. A lot of vibration all time at 60 miles por hour. The car was very dangerous to drive with no grip, even worst with rain. Really bad experience!

  • Scott Stewart

Horrible customer assistance. Point blank...the guy at the counter was flat out racist. He apparently doesn't like white people. Pathetic to see now, but garbage is everywhere and Dollar car rental hired and apparently supports such behavior. Would NEVER recommend or use again.

They add things you didn't order to your booking without asking for permission, or advising you that they did so. They Steal from you then blame you for not knowing they're thieves. The manager (Mary) advised me not to trust the company she represents. That was her resolution.

DO NOT rent from this trash company. We had reservations for 1 pm on a Wednesday and here we are sitting here at 750pm and they're telling us it's still a 2 hour wait. This place just tries to book every dollar they can and doesn't care about reservations. Stay away from them.

I waited in line 55 minutes (Jax Airport)to be greeted with a SMILE by Josh after a few very disappointed customers but he was AMAZING with each person. Calm, professional Customer Service with ten plus stars the BEST .stay postive..Thank you! "The Silver Lady"

Jana was Fabulous! My daughter missed her flight and was running late, she waited and took care of her. The rental process was quick and prices were fair. Jana was knowledgeable and answered all our questions. Thank you for making it a pleasant experience.

Worst place in the world, they don't care that you booked and paid for your car in advance. They will still give your car away with no hesitation. Now I'm stuck at the Airport with no transportation and no other options. Thanks dollar for being terrible.

  • Bart “Bart-Man” Trout

Kayo & Bella.. All we can say is GREAT AWESOME JOBS!! kayo at the front desk and Bella at the car return. Both did great job, both very nice people. Ever need a car from there you will be the place we come. We are the people from PA. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

  • Ganesh M

Where do you hire your front desk staff from? Not sure if they need some mental health support they are very RUDE upfront! They should understand that they are in customer facing business and try to resolve the issue and not to escalate any.

  • Eugene Fletcher

By all means you should avoid renting a car from Dollar Rent A Car at Jacksonville International Airport. I did so on August 12th at 6:00 in the morning I rented a car from Jacksonville to Louisville Kentucky. the clerk at the desk asked me

  • Merly Carvalho

We have to wait an hour while they 'clean' the car. Only to find out they do not have any convertibles. The type of car we booked. So don't believe their website because the inventory is inaccurate big time. If I could give them zero stars

  • Fanny Torres

If I could give this rental car zero stars, I would! Worst experience and terrible customer service. I made a reservation about two weeks if not more to rent a car. I even called two days before to confirm the reservation and add a car

  • Sean C

OMG, just got here. The line is ridiculously long and not moving. Same three people have been up at the counter for 10 minutes (and that is just since I got here.) The other car rental companies have almost no line........

  • diana bourn

I rented a car they chg 544.00 for three days and when I return the car I will receive 200.back I call the credit dept on my card they chg extra 375.00 on my card to they are fraud believe me I’m calling my attorney

  • Guilherme Zaia

Over an hour waiting in line and for the most part only one agent the the desk… Don’t know yet if customer service from the agent is good, but I can say that Dollar certainly does not think about their customers…

  • Melanie

There’s 100 or more people in line in front of me and 2 people behind the counter helping. I called customer service and was told there’s no way to skip the line. I expect it to take hours to get my car.

  • kirsten lee

Had a car reserved and showed up on Christmas Day with our reservation and they told us they didn’t have any cars left. Desk workers were not able to help or even offer a refund.

  • David McMillan

Latoya was so awesome and amazing got my trip off on a great start she was rhe reason I use dollar cause she is there every morning at the check out counter you can't go wrong

  • Shekinah Waldon

This place is a rip off! They don’t tell about extra fees if you don’t have an itinerary and then if you cancel they take your entries prepaid deposit. They’re SCAMMERS!

  • Stephanie Ybarra

Very shady place. They charged me for satellite radio and I never signed up. Don’t use this agency. Prices are ridiculous. The post Malone looking guy ripped me off.

  • DJR SOWPLOW

Extremely rude front desk rep. Horrible process. I prepaid in full. Due to poor weather conditions my flight was delayed so I

  • Jeff Lanham

Waited nearly an hour in line to get to the counter. Then we have to wait for a call when the car was ready. Just terrible

  • Kevin S

Great rates, good customer service. Never had to wait in long lines at the airport like other rental places.

  • Delyn Estelle

Couldn’t get the car. BUT! The service was waaaaay better than Luke Cage and the Hobbit at Enterprise.

  • Scott A

Longest slowest line. Screwed up reservation. Do not recommend.
