Too bad the restaurant management woman had such a rude, defensive, non customer centric attitude in response to my complaint about a poorly cooked skirt steak meal….. and then ignored us/ refused to serve us after that. What a shame they don’t have any better personal and/or interpersonal skills in dealing with their patrons. I have rarely ever sent any food back anywhere; but never, ever have I been so rudely treated. There is nothing special about their menu…..Mexican is Mexican and all pretty much the same old, same old. However they do have a Cañitas La Brasa that I have had several times, always requesting it cooked “medium rare”. The waiter took my order last night but failed to ask how I wanted it cooked. He no sooner left the table when I realized I had to tell him “medium rare”. He was nowhere to be found…..I asked a passing waitress to have him come back to me. “Two minutes” later our meals were served. One look at it and I knew it was well done shoe leather. The waiter came to check on us and I told him it was over cooked. He left and “consulted” with the woman manager. When he returned, he asked me to check the center. I told him I wanted to eat the whole steak, not just the center, but I complied and proved it was equally well done. Now the manager comes over and demands to know which waitress I had flagged down to find Pablo ( as if that should matter). I’m getting irritated now and my friend is sitting there with her dinner getting cold while this farce continues. I told her the waitress had brown hair as do all the waitresses there and I did not know what that had to do with my meal being unacceptable. The woman then proceeded to lie to me that it is “impossible to cook a skirt steak medium rare. They are all medium to well done”. Absurd! I informed her I had the same meal 3 weeks earlier and ordered it “medium rare” and it was great. She left and returned with a new steak on a plate and unceremoniously slid it off on top of the “old” one. Neither the manager or our waiter ever returned to our table after that. The check was brought to me by another waitress…… And so much for the birthday dessert I ordered for my friend that never came……. I’ve enjoyed several meals there in the past; but this very negative experience will remind me to look for “Mexican” elsewhere.

My boyfriend and I love Mexican food and thought we’d give this restaurant a try since it had so many positive reviews. However, we left very disappointed and quite frankly disgusted. The service was decent, but the food was absolutely horrible. I ordered the chicken quesadilla, which came with mostly dark meat (which was not advertised on the menu). It annoyed me a little because I don’t like the taste of dark meat, but I continued eating it anyways because I didn’t want to complain. Well…then, it got worse. I bit into a HUGE piece of CHICKEN FAT. The fact that there would be pieces of chicken fat in any food item is disgusting. Chicken is meant to be cleaned, deboned, and all fat cut off. But it was made very clear that they prioritize making food as cheaply as possible and then up-selling it to unassuming customers. I told the waitress and she just took my full plate away…didn’t even offer to take it off the bill. I had only eaten a few bites of the entire dish. I’m pretty non-confrontational, so I didn’t push it. But in hindsight, I wish I had called a manager over because the quality of food was unacceptable.

One of my wife’s favorite places. When I am in the dog house, we go there because it is not my favorite place. So since I am in the dog house a lot, I have strived to find my favorite thing on the menu. So far, I am making progress. First, the restaurant is very big, so there is always room for more. There is also an outside patio area but I have never seen it being used. Service is pleasant and efficient and the kitchen pays attention to special orders (no this, extra that). They have a thorough bar menu, including 50 types of tequila, which may have more to do with why my wife likes it and not so much me. Go figure, I don’t drink, so what do you think? Okay. Here is my food run down: Salsa - very runny, spice kick, I know it makes a difference for some people. Guacamole - good consistency but lacks flavor. Rice - dry, like a desert Beans - not a flavor I enjoy Chicken Fajitas - solid choice Shrimp Fajitas - shrimp were rubbery, not a solid choice Spinach Quesadilla - awful, inedible Shrimp Quesadilla - solid choice, really good. Fried Ice Cream - awesome, it is fried and it is Ice cream. If you see my wife, please tell her I am trying.

We love Mexican Food and we were hoping the best when we decided to try this restaurant. Not sure if this is like a mix with other cuisine culture but their fajitas aren’t Mexican and their corn tortillas aren’t either. Very disappointed, as soon as we opened the corn tortillas. We asked to take them because we weren’t going to eat them. Long story short they wanted to charge us extra for the tortillas that we didn’t ate and canceled the order for. The manager told us that we needed to be careful for the next time we order food…it took a lot of him to refund the extra tortillas charge (okey…) not sure what type of customer service was this but ok never again we will return. PS. They don’t have Jarritos,!Horchata or Jamaica The waiter was nice and sweet.

I had veggie fajitas and they were delicious. My server helped me take the standard chicken fajitas menu item and modify it to make it a vegan meal. I only wish the charge reflected the veggie fajitas vs chicken fajitas. It is a small thing, but would be appreciated. The chips and salsa were OK. The salsa seemed a little bland for me and the chips didn't appear to be freshly homemade especially since I was one of the first tables of the day. The service staff was very friendly and the facilities were very clean. I would eat there again and recommend it to others.

I've been here a couple times with my wife and kids and each time we had quick and attentive service. The food is pretty standard tex-mex fare, but they did offer a few American options for the kids which my son appreciated since he is on a cheeseburger kick. The burritos are very large, they could easily be two meals and are quite tasty. My 3 year old gobbled up his chicken taco which was a surprise to us. I haven't had anything so far that I wouldn't order again or recommend to someone. Definitely worth trying, you'll probably be back after you do.

When I worked close by, I would have lunch at Don Juan’s weekly. The food is always fresh and the restaurant is very well maintained. The owners and staff are welcoming. I went there with friends yesterday for lunch and realized how much I missed going into a restaurant and being treated like family and welcomed with open arms. I love everything about this place. I want to give a shout out to the staff yesterday for the support they gave to the group of military that were there having lunch. I can’t explain how heartwarming it was!!!

Great service as the server was very attentive to our needs, and knowledgeable as far as the menu. The restaurant was not very busy. The food came out just on time and plates presentation was impeccable. What was impressed with is the margarita! It was served in a a glass that is more for water or beer than a margarita glass! I asked for salt on the rim and on the rocks but it was kind of disappointing as it barely had any salt and it was just table salt. I noticed that everyone worked as a team but no one was wearing masks!! I would give it another trial next time I am back here!

When we want to eat-out and eat at a mexican restaurant, we eat at Don Juan's! The staff & service is super, it's clean and the food is GREAT! I love their enchiladas, my wife loves the chimichanga and the boys love the tacos. It's always fresh and it's always the same, DELICIOUS! They also have great drinks and a really nice bar and let me tell ya, when it comes to Cinco De Mayo, it's awesome!! The owner and his wife are fantastic, salt of the earth people! But don't take my word for it, go enjoy it for yourself!

This is without a doubt the best managed restaurant in town. Employees are always on top their game non-stop. Kudos to management. Don Juan also has the best food, the meat quality is unlike any Mexican restaurant anywhere. Great place to eat and relax.

This Don Juan's Mexican Restaurant, let me tell you folks, it's the best restaurant in Mandarin, believe me. Nobody does Mexican food like Don Juan's, nobody. The food is tremendous, the best you'll ever have, I guarantee it. The staff is fantastic, they're just great people, believe me. And the atmosphere, let me tell you, it's unbelievable, it's tremendous. So if you're looking for a great restaurant in Mandarin, Don Juan's is the place to be, believe me. It's just fantastic, folks, tremendous.

What's a nice restaurant with plenty of room for diners. However I was totally unimpressed with their food. My father and I had tacos. The tacos they served us were very runny, made our tacos fall apart and tasted like they didn't have enough seasoning. I was very disappointed. I will say that we arrived during happy hour and the two for one beers were wonderful.

We have been driving by Don Juan’s restaurant since 2019 (for 4 years). Today we decided to stop for lunch. We ordered the lunch specials of 2 enchiladas and a chimichanga. This meal as really good! Just had a very good experience at Don Juan’s. The tacos were the best I’ve ever had (we got chicken and beef, both were equally delicious). Our server was Pablo and he was excellent. Had the Pork Carnitas (Michorican style pork shanks) - sooo good. Excellent guacamole, beans and rice. Our server was the reason I decided on 5 rather than 4 stars because when you have great service the meal is that much better! He was attentive and very polite! The owner checked in on us as well! This restaurant understands that service is what it’s all about!!!

Based on the reviews, my husband and I decided to give Don Juan’s a try. It was how I expected it would be, good Mexican food. We ordered a bowl of queso to go with our chips and it arrived before our chips and salsa did. For my entree I ordered the shredded chicken chimichanga. Pretty decent flavor. We did have to wait longer than usual to get the ticket though.

I really liked the food but it didn't like me. There was a spice that upset my stomach. It also caused my feet to swell. I'm not sure what it was. It was like they dumped it in to make up for something. The queso was good. The chips were awesome. I'll go again and try something else and update my review then. So I'm not hating on it. Just unsure.

Great neighborhood place to go for pretty good Mexican food. Entrees are great, just served too dry for me. Sauces/ melted cheeses should be poured over top of items to help with flavoring. Everything great though!

It was an alright right experience. The service was good, but not overly attentive. We received our food very quickly even though the restaurant was pretty full. The seafood salad was tasty, and the fish didn't taste fishy. The burrito was just ok because it seemed the meat was mostly grizzle. It. Was. MASSIVE! Two meals for sure.

Most Mexican places taste the same. Don Juan's has a very unique taste. You will either like it or hate it but if you like it then you will come back as often as you can. The food is a little more expensive than most Mexican restaurants and the decor and atmosphere are of higher quality.

It was really good! If you’re looking for some great quality, traditional Mexican food, this place is it. Service was really good. The margarita was strong! Food was just about what you’d expect. Solid place.

Really nice place. Soups are great as is selection. Free chips & dip start you off and don't forget to ask for the cheese dip. Lots of selections that came out quick and hot. For those who drink happy hour gives you a nice 2x pn any well bar drink. Will go back often as you should.

Everything about this place was fine. The big downside was the cheese dip was $6 for a small bowl and the cheese wasn’t even all the way melted. Nothing was bad but nothing was good. Wouldn’t go back. There’s enough other Mexican restaurants to go elsewhere.

Authentic Mexican food! The chips and salsa are some of the best in Jax, and the rice and beans are hands down amazing. The price is just ok and not the cheapest you can find. The atmosphere is also very warm and cozy.
