Sadly to say, my wife and I will NEVER be returning to this particular Lanopolera restaurant. We have coming to this location for a few years instead of driving to my favorite spot on Kingsley bcz of the traffic. We came in for drinks and an appetizer. After we got to the last few tortilla chips we noticed a few burnt pieces. Didn't think much of it at first but upon further review, it seemed to me that it was pieces of a burnt,cooked roach.... My wife practically gagged and threw up on the table once she was convinced but I held my composure for the sake of embarrassment. We called the waitress and she also agreed, it looks like a roach. Long story short, my first date with my now wife was here. And the person who waited on us is now a manager or something. And when we confronted him about the situation he was adamant that it wasn't and tried to convince my wife that it was an onion or a bean or maybe even chicken from a burrito.......I'm not sure what it was but my wife was.... I calmed her down and we finished our drinks. It would have been nice if the meal was free for the inconvenience. But instead of that he chose to try and persuade us that it wasn't a roach for about 15 minutes. He also agreed that it looked like it could be....He waited at the register for us and I assumed he would apologize and not charge us but he did. No problem, no worries. A lesson learned for us. Sadly to say....we won't EVER be back to this location. I really liked the guy too. But me personally, I would have not charged anyone for a meal that small and for the misunderstanding. Whether it was or wasn't...the customer is always right. Right??.... Well in this case it should have been considered. And for that reason, we will be going to the OP Lanopolera. That place has never failed me...

I had some time to kill while I was waiting for my dog to be groomed, so I decided to stop by here and have a late lunch. I walked in and a gentleman with glasses on, walked up to me and asked me just one and I said, yes, I’m by myself, he seated me at a table, and that was the last I saw him for at least 30 minutes! About 15 minutes later, when I was just about ready to get up and leave, a waitress came over and said have you been helped and I said no I’d really like to order some food or at least a drink. She apologized profusely and immediately brought me a Diet Coke. I ordered my food and then about five minutes later the gentleman that seated me brought me my food set it in front of me turned around and walked away. about 30 minutes later the waitress came back by and asked if I needed anything at the time I did not I said no thank you. She again apologized for what happened and I said it’s OK. No big deal. However, I never saw her or him again until right before I was ready to leave and I asked her for a Diet Coke to go and a empty box. She very quickly brought that to me and the check. the food was OK it was very soupy. I had the taco salad and it was just really not that good! The service was lousy. The food was subpar. I’ll never go back there again.

I do like the food, that is why I keep coming back. Only constructive feedback is, if have the item on the menu when you tell me I can't buy it ala carte then it seems like some kind of weird policy that is not customer focused. All I really wanted was two chorizo tacos and a chili relleno. I didn't want the 3 taco meal with rice and beans. I don't care for things I consider "filler" foods. I just want the things that I want. In the end, I didn't get what I wanted because I could not order what I wanted. The options were get the 3 chorizo taco meal with rice and beans...or don't get chorizo tacos. I wanted the chili relleno most and it was an ala carte option, so pared that with a single chimichanga...which came with beans I didn't want...lol! Anyway, I hope there is a good valid reason from a business perspective for not allowing the customer to order what they want. This isn't about money, ala carte is usually higher in some nominal way but I was willing to pay whatever it was to get what I wanted and was told no.

First time here & the food was good. Came out quickly & lots of it. I will mention that our free basket of chips,that they bring out first,was overcooked & burnt tasting.And the salsa that came with it was way to spicy. * Our main concern was our young waitress. She mumbled in Spanish/English & we could not hear or understand her because she would not speak up. The folks across the aisle from us seemed to be having the same problem with her That,and we never saw her again,till she showed up with our bill.Well,we saw her,just not at our table. She sat at the end of the bar,gossiping with a co worker! Luckily for us,the manager was attentive & saw that we had what we needed.* We will give this place another chance,because the food was good. But hopefully,in the meantime,we hope the manager will see the problem ( or this review) & have a talk with young senorita about how to waitress a table.

Every La Nopalera restaurant that we have been to in Jacksonville has a $4 for 3 tacos special on Tuesday nights. We have even been to this location before for that Tuesday special. Last Tuesday we went there and their 3 taco 'special' was $6.99 and they claimed they have never had that special Now tonight we called over there about a small catering order for 8 people, which we were simply asking for a 14-15 taco plate to take out with rice and beans and they claimed that when people have done catering for parties they pay the menu price of $15.99 for 3 tacos, rice and beans. That amounts to $50 for 9 tacos and some rice and beans. The person I talked to was rude and not helpful at all. I wont be going back and would like to recommend people use a different La Nopalera in the area

My sister and I wanted frozen margaritas and have girl talk! We went around 3:30. It wasn't really busy. We were seated by a waitress very nicely. She was fast and her customer service skills were good! We ordered a pitcher of regular frozen margarita which was delicious!! I ordered a cheese only and my sister ordered a chicken quesadilla. They were ok nothing to rave about. The atmosphere was nice at first. After sitting and talking for a while we started getting looks and side eyes from a few waitresses, walking back and forth looking in our direction. That insinuated as it's time for y'all to go. We took our time to finish our conversation and the frozen margarita, tipped and left. Welcoming at first and rushed to leave. Won't be back anytime soon!

I'm fairly disappointed in my experience this time. I order from this place all the time and I get the same thing.. a Molcajete..normally service is fast..food is great and I have no complaints..however this time I got my order and went home. Then, to my surprise about an hour later when I opened my bag to enjoy my feast, I found they skimmed off the top of my rice and beans. There was barley 1 serving. You can see from my picture where the beans were in the container. (The dried beans on the side) It looks like they packed up everything and then decided I didn't need that much or took my beans and rice and gave it to someone else. I absolutely love this La Nop. The food is always on point, the service is excellent. Everything is always on point. I've never left this place unsatisfied. I usually tip 50% to 80% of my bill just because they absolutely deserve it and I know that most people don't tip well enough regardless of how good the food and service is. So if and/or when you dine here, please tip well, these good people work hard for thier money and nobody is paid what they should be anymore.

I grew up eating here, this is a Great place to eat! The staff is always friendly. There is a Large menu with plenty of choices plus it's family friendly with a good kids menu. Very nice atmosphere, relaxing low lighting but still enough light to see just fine. All the food is amazing, i have never had a bad dish in the many years i have gone. You cannot go wrong with a taco, burrito, enchilada, tostada, Chile relleni, or fried beans and rice! The taco salad is also delicious! They also sell york peppermint patties at the register when you pay if you need a light palate cleanser!

I love LaNop! We have visited many of the locations throughout Jax. It had been some time since we visited this location. To my surprise the restaurant is very dated. I noticed a few dining tables that were leaning. My 2 year old granddaughter was with us, so we were banished to the "family" section. There were two other families with small children who shared the tight space next to the bathrooms. Our server was polite and adequate. We did have to ask for silverware and I had to find a booster seat. The food was not as good as I remembered. No wow, only meh! I do not recommend this location.

Shocking!!! Some of the absolute worst Mexican food I've had in the good ol' USA. The taco meat was apparently washed under the sink to remove any hint of flavor. Then this blandness was tragically placed inside the taco, enchilada and burrito. At least it wasn't mushy like a recent certain taco stand I didn't enjoy in Cancun. I was considering making this my go to place while I'm in town visiting my brother, but that ain't gonna happen. This food is not Mexican, it's some sort of "hamburger helpless" for those who despise spiciness. I love a little heat. Actually, a lot of heat. On a scale of 1 to 10. 10 being tasty spicy and 0 being water, I give this meal a 1. Yes, it was that bad. Horrible. Disgusting. I ain't coming back ... ever!! Hi

I’m never disappointed when I eat here. I love their cheese dip! I think they have very cheap prices too for the amount of food they throw at you. You can’t beat this place if your on a budget but still would like a night out. They also have a pretty good buffet 3 or 4 days a week.

It was my very first time and I brought my Son and Daughter-in-law because they recommended it. The drinks were way to expensive. Our male server was the worse we ever saw so rude, didn't smile, we had to literally wave him down several times and one time when he brought my Son a beer he thought it was an imposition to bring it and he slapped it down on the table. Worse service I ever saw in a restaurant. I spent over $70 I only left a dollar I think my daughter in law was so mad that she said go tell manager. It actually got us all arguing.

They were understaffed apparently... the Queso was watery.. salsa bland. Ben was awesome... He did the best he could. Unfortunately it seemed the manger was more interested in his phone and TV.. but the restaurant needed some serious attention. The margaritas are always good. The food at this location... NOT WINNING. I couldn't eat anything you see in the picture. We were saddened as the SAN MARCO location sets the bar high with their service and bright light but subtle inviting environment. Food and service was excellent even when busy... the steak was unchewable and the chicken was bland. This was a shrimp dish and there were 4. if it weren't for Ben .... Our server had attitude, our food was not good. The Mgr wasn't there another guy discussed it with us about comping something IF we would return again. Which was not okay. Fish tacos stank so much we gagged, also were hard and over cooked. Waste of $15. The chimichanga was really burnt, 2 taco salads were mediocre, quesadilla not good. Also, we couldn't get refills, it was rough, overall not good in any way. Very disappointed it couldn't be refunded at the time.

I absolutely love the food at this La Nopalera, I've been going to this one for over 6 years and have never been disappointed with the food. Now the service on the other hand depending on your waiter or waitress can be aggravating. One time I sat at my booth and waited close to 10 minutes before I got a drink. Food had a bad after taste. Chicken was over cooked, tortilla was falling apart, beans tasted like they had been refried multiple times, rice was wet and soggy. Prepare for bowel movements from hell! Thought I gave birth to something when it was all said and done. Never eat here! The waiter acted like he hates his job, took forever to take our order, food took forever to get tobour table and when it finally did come it was terribly over cooked with stale food. The cook should be retrained and management needs to use first in first out method when controlling their food costs because customers should not be given stale food.

This visit did it for me at LaNop. First off the waitstaff looked like they just crawled out of bed. The waiter obviously didnt listen to our order. I ordered a chicken taco salad with beans on the side. Never got the beans, and the chicken was so chewy I couldn't eat it. Didn't even finish it. My girl ordered the cheese enchiladas and the cheese was still cold inside the enchilada. 35 bucks for literally the worst Mexican I've ever had! RIP for me LaNop!

Basically the best Mexican restaurant on this side of town in every possible way. The chips were warm ( they are usually cold in town ). The portion on meat content was more than enough. Went here for the first time today. I sat alone at the bar. I ordered the 3 taco plate. It took 30 minutes. Then when I got the food...the rice was dried out, the beans had no flavor and my tacos were barely warm. I mean, what were you doing? Cold tacos after 30 minutes?! I tell the server, she takes it back and obviously puts it in the microwave, returns after a minute and now they are hot and dried out. Definitely not worth the money. And none of it has any taste. The service and atmosphere are good. I got the three tacos alpaster. The corn tortillas broke as soon as I picked them up. I tried to pick up two of the tacos, and both broke a part. Would give this location 0 stars if Google Maps would allow it! They market their “vegetarian” menu but it’s hardly vegetarian at all! I ordered their “VEGETARIAN FAJITAS” and my veggies had bits of steak AND chicken in it! I only found out until after I ate my first fajita and began feeling unwell. For people with moral, ethical, religious, political, and health dietary restrictions - DO NOT EAT HERE. THEY CROSS CONTAMINATE AND DONT CARE.

0 Stars. This was the worst "mexican" food I've ever had. All the items on the combo plate tasted the same, except the enchilada had more salt (texture was like a dumpling.) The ground beef is not seasoned, the tomato sauce poured on top of everything tasted like the sauce in spaghetti O's. The melted cheese was sticky lumps. I don't know how they stay in business. Just a big globby mess. And the 2nd combo plate was never delivered. :(

Food was very good all around. The restaurant was clean, and very much like other La Nopalera's I've been to. Our serving seemed to be having a little trouble keeping up, but she went out of her way to make sure we we taken care of--even served us a birthday treat we brought in for a family meal.

I'm not a fan of this place, though I know it's got a cult following. There's obvious water damage throughout the restaurant, more heavily in the woman's bathroom which gives it a rotten smell. We enjoy this place for frat Mexican fare and frozen margaritas. We order the pitchers of frozen margaritas for the table to share. The taco salad is huge and good and the specials posted each night are good as well. You get chips and salsa when you take your seat. The cheese chips with beef are a good appetizer

Had the taco salad with grilled chicken. This is was good. Couldn’t begin to try and eat all of it. I took a lot home and the wife finished it off. The margaritas have a great kick so make sure it’s not lunch time and work is over. Staff is exceptionally friendly and good is out pretty quick.

Meh, couldn't tell the difference between the burrito and the enchilada since everything is drown in red sauce, the best part was the rice and beans. Server didn't even say thanks for coming in or how is your food just slid some plates onto the table and that was it. Probably won't be back.

Food was mush like it was put through a blender... Everything was soggy, chips tasted days old and refried.... Just go to taco bell if this is your only option

My husband and I moved to the north Florida area early in 2023. We began our search for excellent Mexican food right away. La Nopalera was close to the top of our list because of its location. We ate at the restaurant three times in the hope that the food would improve. Sadly, it did not.

Prices were a bit high but good. Was better than in the past. Food and service wise.

We like the one on Kingsley, and this one seemed like it was going to be as good. The raw shrimp in my beef taquito says otherwise.

This was the best Mexican I’ve ever had. Too bad I live in another state . The service was excellent the food was so delicious. Great cooks here. And lovely Waitresses so friendly .

No words to express the great service and food is always awesome. We Always ask for Eloy our personal waiter and the manager Martin are fantastic without a doubt. Always chatting with costumes and making sure everyone feels good and enjoying their food. 10+⭐

Pretty disappointing presentation. Ordered a quesadilla, got an... open face taco? Not in an easily edible form. Spoke to the manager and he said that's how it's always served, didn't really act concerned. However, it was delicious

I don't mind the price going up almost 3 dollars...its the fact the price goes way up...and the shell to a taco salad gets TINY. The shell is the best part. And came with no cheese...apparently its 2 dollars more for cheese

My sons favorite one. We have one by our house but this one is best. Huge portions. Hot hot. Yumm.. California burritos are our favorite.

Not really impressed with this Mexican restaurant. Had a tomato slice that wasn't even close to being ripe. I'm going to stear clear of this reasturant in the future.
