"Very modern, lots of facilities and the internet works well"
"This is a big complex, nice to have fresh air in Ground floor not at the study place in upstairs"
"I have recently moved to Doncaster and I am nerd and bibliophile for life so I must have to explore my local library wherever I go, so today I went to the Doncaster Library for the first time and I found it really fascinating especially the design and structure is very appealing plus the sculpture walk is a nice addition"
"Took me more than 45 minutes to connect to their internet"
"Great modern library with good resources"
Very modern, lots of facilities and the internet works well. However that means it's the busiest library in the area by elimination - box hill doesn't have much study space, the templestowe/Macedon one is too small and all the banyule libraries have very finickity internet. Best time of day is early except Wednesday. After school there'll be a lot of school kids hanging out and tables are a scarce commodity due to the amount of private tutors that run their business there. Times to avoid: Wednesday morning circa 11am as there'll be an irritating group of 30+ toddlers and 40+ adults singing, banging tambourines and playing the recorder that will disturb you wherever you sit. Similarly on Tuesdays after lunch there is 'baby karaoke' which is as bad as it sounds. Sadly when they built this place they didn't put in a screen wall or community/function room, so we have to endure the noise, but it's only these two times to avoid during the day. Late opening is on Wednesday and Thursday until 8pm, and the staff are very strict about getting home on time - expect them to start nagging you to pack up about quarter to the hour most days. Other than those small things, very good - everything works, staff are helpful etc. Top tip: use the toilets on any other floor but ground.
This is a big complex, nice to have fresh air in Ground floor not at the study place in upstairs. I am coming for a while to study in this library, but hardly can find a quiet place. The quite space adjacent to the coffee shop that you claim it is the quite are many of the tables do not have power-points to plug the laptop, only 2 benches we can find to have that which are always full, the sofa chars can be replaced to are which are not need to be quite. I see many aged people do read a newspaper which in respect they do not need to do it in a quiet area. Anywhere else we find a place to seat either teacher are teaching sth that have to speak loudly or kids are playing games with TV or running at the kid's area. And no one does care about our complaint. Please replace the single sofas with tables we can seat and work with the laptop for long hours and bring power-points to the tables. Other libraries pay attention much to people who wanna study but this library that is near to my home does not care about it. Always babies are running or teachers are studying. It is really annoying
I have recently moved to Doncaster and I am nerd and bibliophile for life so I must have to explore my local library wherever I go, so today I went to the Doncaster Library for the first time and I found it really fascinating especially the design and structure is very appealing plus the sculpture walk is a nice addition. Coming to books, I must appreciate the variety the library has for the books, special shoutout for being more inclusive and representative of the different cultures like a whole section dedicated to Persian and Mandarin Books, even for kids! The staff was also very helpful in signing me up today! So, all in all looking very very very forward to visiting "My New Library" from now on!
Took me more than 45 minutes to connect to their internet. It’s a joke, I feel like I am cracking the code to get into a vault… after attempting and re-attempting again and again resetting password etc didn’t help… in the end lady had to make up a whole new card for me…. But guess what it still didn’t work! For a public library it’s disastrous. I would have less trouble connecting to the wifi of a local cafe. Just a terrible experience and a waste of my time. Had to leave and go back home so I can get some work done. The library isn’t serving its purpose. IMPROVE AND UPGRADE YOU SYSTEMS!!!
Great modern library with good resources. Library staff are very helpful, friendly and informative (nothing like the stereo typical librarian of the 80s)! Now everything g it digital it makes borrowing, reserving and finding books, CDs, DVDs, etc so easy! Tip for those wanting to use the PCs - go before 3pm as it turns into "after school care" for Doncaster Primary and the kids use all the computers for shooting games and run riot!
I love this library as it’s a great place to do some reading. Very modern design and has more selection than the pines library. However, make sure you avoid coming after 3pm, as there are many school students who can be very noisy and distracting. Many also bring smelly foods in, however librarians don’t monitor them. This really ruins the atmosphere of the library. If it weren’t for this the library would have 5 stars.
Loud - If you want a quiet place to study, DO NOT come here. This place has become a zoo for children with no one monitoring their behaviours. 24/7 Public Activities - constantly hosting loud music events out the front of a library? genius. The management here need to reassess how library zones function and operate. This place is my local library and now rendered useless due to these poor planning decision.
Who would have thought that a library can be that noisy and chaotic? No quiet room but a small box in a floor only accessible by one slow elevator with no bathroom unless you are a staff member. Almost 90% of this so called Library is ((staff only)) along with the parking that always reserved. Almost 50 premium car spots reserved. and I am not sure why there is so much tax spent on so many employees.
We go with my two daughters monthly. Friendly staff, nice and clean. We never have any issues with staff complaining for my 2 yr old and 4 yr old being too loud. We do the Greek story time every month! Highly recommend. I only wish they had it on more times then once a month. Even every second week would be better. Denise the educator is lovely and kind and patient and is very welcoming.
We came 15 minutes until closing just wanting to make a membership so we could rent the frisbees for disc golf for this evening. The staff wouldn’t allow us to make a membership because they were closing soon even though she told us it only takes 1-2 minutes to do. Very rude and unhelpful. We drove very far to come here so we could have a pleasant evening playing disc golf together.
it's ok. i am actually giving it a 2.5 stars. sometimes the kids are so noisy, I can even hear them from upstairs screaming and crying. hope to add more books especially the Chinese ones. And also please add some more tables, there are no seats especially at the busy time and ending sitting on the floor. please open till 8pm for everyday like other libraries.
Great facilities nice surrounding. Sadly the discrimination by some of the staff is outrageous. The descrimination via race and religious deversity was a foul experience for myself and others. The in-house retoric is in need of a major revamp to modern Commonlaw rights standards. Our non biased community.
Very loud. Defeats the purpose of being a library. I see some feedback/reviews shared for quite sometime (ladt 2-3yrs) on the same issue but nothing has been done about it. I agree its like a zoo more than a library. The management needs to look into this and make it a quiet place for everyone to enjoy.
It is alwaya good to have a local library. Certainly a good place for everyone if you want to read some books or get some information. The library has very well setup up PC stations for visitors to use. There is kids singing session in the morning or afternoon. Definitely a good place for family.
Very nice library, includes many computers, and a children’s area. Upstairs there is a quiet study area where you can zone out and finish any work without distraction. However, times straight after school can get very noisy in the computer and console area, but a generally nice place to relax.
Defintely not a good library if you are looking to study or do any form of work that might need an ounce of concentration.... kids running around, screaming and making noise with parents who don't seem to care.... again, perhaps not a library, more of a free day care centre.....
Great place to study and read. Recent upgrades are really lovely. The place feels clean and beautiful. Parking available nearby. Staffs are really helpful and friendly. Good collection of books and magazines. Separate spacious space available for reading and studying.
Library is cosy and with ample of scattered places for people to read or do their stuff. Kids have two areas as well and the stuff are friendly! The place even have a small area for Muslim to do their prayer and cafe. Fully equipped …
A really nicely set up space with a lot of natural light. Unfortunately not a great choice if you're looking for a space to study in. Noise is not very well-regulated. Also if you're using the computers to study you can only use them for an
I attended the English Conversation Circles a couple of times, a few weeks ago to improve my English level. I decided not to go back anymore because I was discriminated against by Pauline, one of the tutors. During the last session I had,
Great selection of children's books for primary aged kids and above! Picture books updated regularly. Layout makes it easy to find what you need. Visitors might need more reminding that libraries are quiet spaces.
This is a great library. It seems very spacious even though it is well patronized. The displays of books are great and help me find something new. There is a bus stop right outside.
Nice exterior, interior design of the library is peaceful, calm and quiet. Definitely a neighborhood place to visit, ideal to bring your kids there to chill and spend free time.
Too noisy. Never ever recommend those who need to consentrate and study. The quiet study room is not actually quiet and some times hiered by some real noisy groups!!
Huge, very well resourced library with really helpful staff. They were kind enough to direct me to the ‘quiet’ area upstairs. It was much noisier than downstairs.
It's good that there is a "silent room", but actually it's not a silent room. The people next to the glass wall are so noisy and they are so loud. So distracting.
Modern and spacious look and feel. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Caters well for different people wanting different things from their library.
standard study area not really greatly managed in terms of room or spaces for studying neat indoor decorations and layouts, cafeteria seems too pricy
Always one of my favour local libraries in the region. Spacious and it has good collection of books. It has a secret study area at the upper floor.
Great facilities. Library selection is large and the place feels modern. However, it does not provide enough desks for study during peak hours.
Nice library, very helpful staff. For my liking the library is a bit too noisy. I wish it has corners that were more quite.
One of the two lifts is typically out of order, but there's no stairwell to use. What happens if both lifts are not going ?
Modern, looks great, beautiful view and lots of facilities. Slightly limited in seating space for studying though.
Thank you for the great work you do for the residents of Doncaster. Please add Arabic books to your collection.
Always helpful staff. Big library so good selection of books, films, audio etc. Good atudy spaces.
Beautiful upgrade. Very clean, peaceful and comfortable. Just wish there were more seat and tables
Big and great space to study, relax, study, work. Great collection of books and media articles.
Great cutting edge facilities, nice site view, huge parking place, and everyone is so kind.
Great atmosphere, modern design, and plenty of space and great facilities.
There are many facilities here so We can use this place for many reasons.
Great place but it always crowded. Take that as a good or bad thing.
Modern and spacious. Helpful staff. Nice quiet places for studying.
confusing layout inside, and limited seating; hard to find books,
A really nice and clean library. Perfect for an afternoon read.
Awesome place for a good read, great vibes and friendly staffs.
It needs later opening hours on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.
Usually good parking underneath which is handy. Good library.
