I signed up with MDVIP early summer. Only two docs to choose from in my area. 76 year old Dr Rounds was one of two. Tried him first. Found him to be arrogant, argumentative, verbally abusive and would not listen to what I was trying to say without 1) cutting me off 2) lecturing me about communication (in which he could use alot of improvement) or 3) not letting me finish a sentence because I was not using the correct medical terminology to describe what I was experiencing health wise. I left his office in tears twice feeling I had been badly bullied. And for this I had paid 1600+. Dr Rounds prescribed medicines I didn't ask for to treat symptoms he decided I had (not what I had tried to describe). The actual problem had to do with the medicines I was already on (a suggestion I actually made to him). I had said I had severe muscle cramps and he would not accept that terminology. It turns out I was on a medicine that can cause seizures as in full body muscle cramps. As soon as I got off of it after I researched it, no more problems. The other was stomach issues, which also being caused by medicine which I stopped and, ....no more problems. The third was being exhausted all the time and he went ballistic when I suggested that exhaustion and lack of energy might be different than sleepiness. That's when I got the lecture about not using medical terminology correctly. At least twice in each of my 3 visits with him he told me how knowledgeable he was and how he'd been a doctor for 35 years. His staff was amazing but I was shocked at how the Dr treated me. It appears to me that MDVIP tells Drs they can "fire" their patient if the doc doesn't like them or they are courageous enough to question what the Dr is saying. This is one of those one's you had better not ever question. I was dazed and depressed after spending all that money and being treated so badly by this guy. I'm a well educated person and Dr Rounds seemed to think that blood test results can not be read by anyone but he, the doctor. He would NOT release my blood test results to me (remember the $1600 price tag and promise by MDVIP for "special tests"). When I finally got them after going to the second doc they were nothing but the normal blood tests, EXACTLY the same tests that I had been getting, seeing and reading for years. Nothing special here, folks. Alot of marketing hype. In my opinion if you can afford MDVIP just go to a doc outside the insurance system and pay cash. You'll get the extra time with them you thought you would get with MDVIP and probably a better mannered doctor who is not looking to "fire" the patients that don't want to be bullied or who ask for explanations or don't use the "correct" words.
Dr. Rounds is a MDVIP doctor which means he works in a concierge type medical practice. The money paid each year gives you a new, highly specific type of cholesterol test from Cleveland Clinic that determines the cause and treatment of high cholesterol. The test is only offered through MDVIP. By spending the money, even with my personal insurance, I get a highly qualified DO who spends at least 30 min per visit. I get a thorough, two part yearly physical. I had the same thourough care with another concierge doctor I used in Seattle. And I can see him as many times as I want to and be assured my needs are addressed instead of the usual case of the doctor running in, typing on the computer and never looking at me without really listening. And he does not throw needless medication at you. I find Dr. Rounds refreashing, down to earth, and I feel doctor Rounds has my back.
Without question the best decision I've made concerning health care was participating in the MDVIP program with Doctor Rounds. Several of my close friends are also seeing Doctor Rounds and love having a doctor that is always available and keeps his practice limited in terms of total amount of patients and type of patient that he will accept. Warning if you've already used google to self diagnose you'll probably be disappointed when he wants to use the 40 years experience he has along with his medical degree's to figure it out. Dean Ford
I have always had great experience with this office, they are quick to get me or my kids in when needed, staff works together well. Office is now 12-1-2013 subscription only, having to find new primary care provider as he no longer takes any insurance.
They will accept new patients if you pay them 1650.00 a year for the privilege of going there. That is not part of your insurance coverage.
Dr Rounds and staff have always been professional, friendly and helpful
If you have $2000 to pay him under-the-table
