A Mixed Experience at a Stylish Hotel Rating: 3.5/5 I recently had the opportunity to stay at a very lovely hotel with an impressive lobby and dining area. While the initial impression was grand, a closer look revealed a few disappointments that kept me from fully enjoying my experience. Upon entering my king room, I immediately noticed the cleanliness from a distance. However, as I inspected the walls, I couldn't help but notice numerous scratches and even a few long strands of hair stuck to them. It became evident that the walls could use some attention and a fresh coat of paint. The lotion, shampoo and handsoap dispensers were either close to being empty or not filled to the top. The comfort of the room left something to be desired as well. The mattress was quite stiff and lacked the plush cushioning one would expect from a high-end establishment. It felt rather flat, which affected the overall sleeping experience. Additionally, the walls proved to be paper-thin, as I could hear conversations from the guest in the adjacent room and even their television. This lack of soundproofing was a significant downside. Despite these disappointments, the front desk workers at the hotel were fantastic. They were kind, dedicated to customer service, and provided me with helpful information on how to get to Howth, which I appreciated. Their hospitality certainly added value to my stay. I ordered room service later in the evening. The food was alright, and the presentation was pleasing. However, while the meal was enjoyable, I couldn't shake the feeling that there might be better dining options elsewhere. Although the hotel's food was good, it didn't leave a lasting impression that would make me eager to eat there again. Overall, the hotel had its flaws, including the scratched walls, uncomfortable mattress, and lack of sound insulation. However, the impressive lobby, dedicated front desk workers, and satisfactory room service managed to salvage the experience. While I wouldn't consider it the best hotel I've stayed at, I wouldn't completely rule out staying here again in the future.

A Home Away from Home at Skylon Hotel I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Skylon Hotel, a place very close to my heart. Having been an employee here from 2014 to 2021, I've experienced firsthand the warmth and professionalism of the team, including some Mceniff family members. They always made me feel at home, even when I was on the job. For my graduation ceremony in Dublin, I brought my mother and a friend from Brazil and chose Skylon Hotel for their stay. It was the best decision I could have made. From the moment we arrived, the reception staff impressed us with their attentive, polite, and helpful service. Our room was impeccably clean and well-organized, complete with a lovely minibar. The breakfasts and our dining experiences at the hotel's restaurant were exceptional. I'd like to mention a few staff members - Gillian, Hazel, Frances, Paul, Cloe, Alan, and Jannie - whose service was exemplary. However, this praise extends to the entire team, from housekeepers to chefs. Now I understand why so many guests are loyal and keep returning. A special thanks to Tara and her husband, General Manager Shane, for their kindness and making us feel so welcome. Skylon Hotel is not just a place to stay; it's a place that feels like home. Thank you all for an unforgettable experience. Jeff, Maribel and Fabiano December 2023

Our stay here was awesome. Great location, less than 20 min drive 2 the airport. Our room wasnt ready (we did get there about 4 hrs b4 check in) but they did store our luggage so we left to explore. Wanted to mail some stuff we bought and the post office was less than a 10 min walk .Also there was a grocery store and pharmacy right nxt door. Seemed like a good neighborhood, we walked 15 or so mins to a really yummy crepe place 4 brunch. Only downside was there is no AC which didn't bother us since it wasn't hot but I wouldn't want 2 be there if it was. And we were having issues with flight check in and I thought maybe if we used a computer it would help but they don't have a business center. These were small issues and did not impact our opinion of the hotel. We only ate in the restaurant 4 breakfast and it's all u can eat but really just a full irish breakfast and a continental breakfast. Slim pickins but again didn't bother us. All in all we loved it here!

very disappointed. Lovely entrance , lobby and location, Restaurant big let down was told there was no children's menu was not impressed by the adults either. Biggest problem of all was no hot water in the bathroom at all . Not good if you need or like to look your best or have children. Heard other people complaining that this was day 3 without hot water.

Noteworthy details
No hot water in bathroom for a few days
Stayed here in June 2023 with friends. We had a room for 3 which included a double bed and a single bed. Room was very spacious with a Smeg fridge and large window, table and chair. Hotel is very modern and clean with a nice restaurant and reception area. When we arrived we had tea and scones as we had missed lunch time. We had a few drinks from the bar but were out and about most of time, so didn't eat at the hotel. Really close to links to the airport and Dublin city. Also handy next door is a Lidl and across from some pubs and restaurants. Would recommend but would need to use public transport into town if not driving.

The Skylon Hotel was an absolute gem of a find. We stayed for 2 nights. We caught the 16 bus, which has a stop right by the hotel and managed to check in early which was great. We were also able to leave our bags after we checked out which allowed us to explore Dublin a little more! The room we had was a double and it was very spacious. We'll decorated and with a nicely sized bathroom. It was all very clean and neat when we arrived. We were also able to catch the 16 or 13 bus into the centre of Dublin in less than 20 mins. There is a bar and grill but we didn't have a chance to try it out. If we are ever in Dublin again we will be sure to come back.

We arrived at the Skylon Hotel after a long hot drive from Donegal on Thursday 7th September after having booked our accommodation 3 weeks previously We were to be staying overnight as I had an appointment in Beaumount hospital the following day. The receptionist could find no record of us having booked despite us showing her their number on our phone and the date and time we booked. They did not want anything to do with us or help us find altetnative accommodation. We were not offered any compensation for a room in the future maybe. They honestly couldn't get rid of us fast enough and didn't consider for 1 second that they were at fault. I would check your reservation before you travel if I were to give you one piece of advice. I would never book with this hotel again.Very unhelpful and rude.
I have been to the dublin skylon hotel on a number of occasions to deliver training and i can truly say the hotel and staff are the best there is.... a warm freindy welcome embraces you from the minute you step inside the door until you leave makes your time at the skylon a beautiful experience and we'll worth a return visits time and time again...Dining at the skylon is top class with amazing dishes cooked fresh from the professional staff in the kitchen will excite any palette.. (well done guys your amazing) .. i would reccomend the skylon without question to any one Keep up the good work guys your professionalism is amazing ... Jean

First time in Dublin and this hotel come recommended. It didn't dissapoint. The hotel was beautiful, service was superb and the location was ideal. There is even a Lidl literally next door open until 10pm so last minute things are a minute away. The room was stunning and housekeeping are very friendly and do a lovely job. 10/10 would recommend.

Good location - easy to get to from the airport and easy to get to the middle of Dublin. Rooms were clean, although the wallpaper is a little outdated and in need of a touch-up. Dinner at the restaurant downstairs was good. If you keep your window open at night, you may be bothered by the amount of traffic that goes by as the hotel is off of a main road. Nice staff. We were able to leave our bags here before checking in, so we could explore the city and then check in when we got back in the evening.

Good restaurant and bar areas.
Comfortable and clean. The service is rather good. Parking is limited and €10 a night. But it is secured. The room is very warm with no way to cool the room but with an open window and a fan but it’s still rather warm to the point I wake up several time sweating. Food it good but on the little expensive side. Overall I would put this on the bottom of coming back to.

Breakfast is on the expensive side compared to the other places we ate at during our trip. €17 breakfast.
I had only visited for a couple of drinks. The service was poor. At times the Bar left unattended for long periods. With one exception the staff were not friendly. They didn't seem interested in working. On one occasion having waited 5 minutes to place an order another couple arrived and were served before me! The Guinness was the worst I have drank in a long long time. I had three pints expecting that it would improve. Probably the end of the barrell. I left after that and won't be going back.

See above. I didn't have food but hope it's a lot better than the drink.
This is a reasonably priced relatively luxurious hotel. We chose it because of the location, since it's not a long drive to the airport from here. However, if you're planning on doing sightseeing in Dublin, you might want to choose a hotel that's in the center of town although you would have to pay more for that. The rooms were very nice. The pillows were okay. The breakfast was good. There is parking but you have to pay for it although it's not particularly expensive.

Very convenient hotel to get to from the airport and with bus stops close by, allowing you to get to the center in minutes. The room was as described, perfect for our stay (lots of pillows, appreciated) and equipped with kettle and comfort products for the morning, very clean room as well as the bathroom really spacious and comfortable. The staff is the top star, very kind and always available for any request, they made the stay really smooth. The bar service is very varied and special, each cocktail was delicious and expertly prepared. When we return to Dublin, we will definitely stay here next time
We stayed here for 4 nights and used buses to travel in and out the centre and not too far from the airport either. Reception was more than helpful and answered any questions I had. My only moan is not having clean mugs and glasses when the maid had been. Other than that. We can't fault this place. It's clean and welcoming. We enjoyed the pub straight across the road aswell, the ivy, also the cat and cage a bit further down!

Lovely hotel close to the DCU campus. Lots of restaurants and coffee shops nearby. There's a small parking lot out front which makes it easy for Uber drivers to pull in. The breakfast buffet is pretty extensive with a choice between full breakfast (with eggs, sausage, ham) or continental. The staff in the restaurant wasn't the friendliest bunch but it was fine. It was a nice stay for business.

Comfortable rooms, very clean and spacious, with basic amenities -- no a.c. so just keep that in mind if you're traveling in the middle of summer. Great staff, who was very helpful and attentive. There is a restaurant on site, which is convenient. Very close to the airport, several other bars, and groceries. Not super close to city center but there's a bus stop steps from the hotel and even walking isn't too bad -- about 35-40 minutes.

Great hotel. Positioned only 20 minutes or less from the airport and approx 20 minutes from the centre of Dublin. You can even walk to the centre, but it's a long walk. The bar and restaurant get busy during the day. Breakfast was good. All main cooked and jot cooked dishes are there. The only thing I would say is that the rooms get very hot during the night. There is no room climatiser, but a radiator.

Well known hotel in Drumcondra. Rooms a little dated and tired looking. Service was variable. Excellent waiter in bar. Bar food was decent.
Had afternoon tea here, as part of a baby shower. Atmosphere and surroundings were lovely. We were given our own private dining area and the staff were lovely. Unfortunately the afternoon was very basic. Only 2 choice sandwiches, egg mayonnaise and chicken. (I had requested now fish, but was not offered an alternative). Therefore not enough savory in comparison to sweet options. The scones were delicious.

Enjoyed our two night stay in the family room. The staff were great and super friendly! We arrived quite earlier than expected and they were very accommodating and had our room ready early for us. Absolutely great hotel! Very accommodating, polite, and helpful, especially if you have never traveled to Dublin. My fiancé, and I stayed for a whole week. The staff was incredible, and the bar&grill was amazing as well! I highly recommend the lamb shanks if you’re a carnivore! They cook it any way you like, as I like mine medium rare. We will definitely be back next year.
Stayed here with my partner and we both loved it! Staff were lovely, they let us check in a little early when we arrived at noon from the airport. The room was spacious, clean and great especially for the price of our stay! It’s easy to access the city centre by bus (with a spar right opposite the hotel where you’re able to buy travel cards). Would definitely recommend!
I am not fussy or a whiner. I spent 4 nights in a dated but ok room at the Skylon. No complaints. On my second stay 3 weeks later, for some reason they put me in a noisy traffic room that wreaked of carpet deodorant with no bedside lamp, beaten up carpet.
