Do people actually give negative reviews for parks?! Then again, a positive review might be just as pointless. This park is a nice pocket of green right in the middle of a busy neighborhood. As others have mentioned, the only downside is the traffic along Duboce - MUNI Tracks, Bike Lanes, and Driving Lanes. The bicycles are quite possibly, the greatest hazard. Cars and even trains yield to pedestrians, but bikers are not subject to the law, or so they think. So, protect your dog(s) from the bicycles, and have fun. I've met some hilarious, eccentric dog owners here. A fellow Jewish guy struck up a conversation with me one Sunday. He was completely covered up, and had his coat hood cinched up so tight around his face that only his sunglasses, his nose and his mouth were visible. His dog started barking at a kid on a bike. He bluntly said that the dog only barked at two things ... "Bicycles and Black People." I love The Bay.
While I love my dog {5 Star Dog} I have mixed feelings about this park. The people who attend the park with their dogs are generally friendly if not polite. The Park service does the best it can at keeping the park looking nice and running well. However, because of the density of people and dogs I find that I have to be more conscientious about other peoples dogs as fights seem to break out too often. Sometimes the owners are engaged in conversation and don't even realize what is occurring. Lastly the issue of what ever the park service uses as a fertilizer for the grass the dogs seem to compelled to eat it and become mildly ill afterwords. I am grateful for the total sum of parks that San Francisco possesses.
The Ideal place to take your Dog. Great dogs, and Great People. I'm serious: This is the best park for Dogs and their Persons anywhere in Northern California that I know of (and I've been to over 20 Dog parks in the area). Unfortunately, all too often you find people whose dogs are not fit for socialization (and can, therefore be dangerous) in various public parks. This has not been the case in scores of visits to Duboce...Not Once! There is nothing more that needs to be said: Its about Responsible People with their Dogs having a great time in The City!
Wonderful dog and human park. Has a great playground for the kids. Plenty of room for dogs to play, run, and relax. Humans also have plenty of room. Plenty of water fountains for dogs and humans a like. Plenty of benches. People with disabilities can also enjoy park. There are restaurants nearby and Safeway is just up the way. Even Petco is just a little ways away. The place is very clean and I have yet to encounter homeless issue. No one sleeping on the ground or drug use. So, come and enjoy this park. One complaint: NO RESTROOMS.
Who designs a dog park with no fences? Nothing special here, just a regular park where it's permissible to have your dog off leash. Seriously, there are no actual features which indicate this space is designed for dogs to play (water bowls, playpool, ramps, obstacles, fences). Other reviewers rave about the great location - sure, it's nearby lots of great stuff! But this is a review of the actual dog play area, not the neighborhood or the sunny weather or public transit or the dog owners.
A popular dog-friendly park in the Duboce Triangle area, that’s one of the few public places with an open and flat terrain. It’s bordered by walkways, with a well kept grass lawn which is pretty healthy, with great coverage even though it’s enjoyed by lots of two and four-legged visitors, constantly. It has a small playground on the north side, with a wide pathway that divides it from a long, rectangular dog run, lined with trees and paved walkways along the border.
I love this park. It has a great and large outdoor space for dogs as well as a designated area where they are not allowed. The lawns, playgrounds, and basketball courts are all well maintained. The views of the hills to the west and the victorian homes around the perimeter make it a special place in the city. There is a nice cafe on the SE corner. The weather is usually sunnier than other parts of the city as the hills cut the fog rolling in from the west.
Such a darling park located right in the intersection of Duboce, Haight and upper Mission. It is long and narrow, but this benefits the different sections of the park. The slight upper hill allows for fun dog watching, the bottom eastern portion has a partitioned dog area with water fountains with little dog bowls. The park has clear wide walkways and cute smaller side sections of grass on the northern portion close to the homes bordering the park.
Nothing is quite as uplifting as watching dogs running and frolicking and playing in the park, and this is THE premier place in the neighborhood for dog-watching therapy. I challenge you not to smile as you witness a puppy with floppy ears running after a bright red ball tosses high in the air, totally missing it, and faceplanting in the grass. Great for dog-owners, dogs, and people who don't have pets but still enjoy their exuberance.
Duboce park is a lovely calming place. It is a medium-small sized park mainly meant for playing with dogs. It's more or less just an open field with a small slant which makes it easy to hurl the ball downhill for a game of fetch. Additionally there is a small play ground area for kids. Most traffic coming to the park is from commuters catching the N line muni from the station at the park. Cute coffee shops are available.
Do you love dogs? This park has almost EVERY species of dogs and mutts alike. This park is where all the locals go to let there dogs be dogs. The N Judah has 2 stops 1 dropping you right in the park almost. There is a playground but this is more for toddlers. Which its built and geared towards. It has a beautiful view as well. The houses are all original and date far back before 1906.
Even though we have to take the muni to get here, it is so worth it. Duboce park is awesome and my puppy loves it. There is so much space for the dogs to run around and play. Even on a busy evening it never seems over crowded. For the most part it is pretty clean. People are pretty good about cleaning up after their dogs. We met some really nice people and our puppy had a great time.
It's a very nice park, with lots of playing dogs. I wish the two sides that access the street had fences, and not just the sides facing the on-leash areas. Warning: There are currently a lot of small holes hidden by grass, so it's an easy spot to twist an ankle. Otherwise, the real grass is a big plus. I'm also glad they recently blocked off the dirt/muddy spot in the lawn.
Want to have a picnic or lay out in the park but don't want to deal with the crowds of Dolores or the hassle of Golden Gate? Come to Duboce! Lots of grassy area in the sun (when it's out) plus great people and dog watching. Playground is best for small kids but bigger kids will still have fun, or there's lots of space for soccer on the lawn, plus a basketball court.
Good small neighborhood park. This is good for dog owners. A lot of the dogs were socializing. The only thing is that this place can get a little marshy/ muddy. It is at a slope so anything in the low area can get a little muddy. Nonetheless, good park to chill with friends. Couldn’t find the restroom there though, but also didn’t look too hard for it.
Only true die-hard dog lovers deserve to be here. Who let the DOG $HIT out on the grass? Oops, I stepped on something. Great place for dog lovers and owners, just not my place to enjoy a picnic in peace and tranquility. Parking is difficult at all hours of the day. Pedestrians must be very weary of reckless, rude or road-rage motorists.
Wonderful, dog friendly park. Under utilized compared to its cousin, Dolores Park. Easy transition access, and a brief walk from Church and Market. Solid playground for kids, and a good amount of open space for soccer or a frisbee. Not a lot of tree cover, so bring your own shade if needed. Only true downside is it can get quite windy.
Awesome dog park (and for people too!). It is situated right next to the N Muni line. There are quite a few cars + bicycles driving by, so watch out for that. Events are held here once in a while (see pics/videos). There's a cafe right at the corner, and other eateries nearby too. Usually quite a few dogs playing fetch :)
I remember a long time ago dogs would visit this park with Thier owners but now there are just sooo many dogs. I was surprised at the quantity. Things change I guess. I mean there's nothing wrong with dogs but I feel like I can't go here anymore since I don't have one right now. Just the vibe lol
It's just a cool Park to chill at or you can grab some lunch, the dogs and head over to the Park to throw a freesbie with the dog,(dog free leash park),friendly people just having a good time outside enjoying our beautiful city weather. Come, come all! ⬛ …
Great place for a walk. There are always people here playing with their dogs. Haven't met a dog there yet who was not extremely well trained. It's easy to be alone, or to converse with people if you choose. Grounds are well-kept, and there are benches for resting. Lots of grass, and sidewalks.
It's a great park. I just wish that the dog area was completely fenced in. I went there thinking I would be able let my new pup go off leash without worrying, and for fully trained dogs, that might be the case. But I wasn't comfortable doing so without a complete fence around the play area.
Nice place to have a rest in weekdays/weekends. Close to Safeway and whole foods market. The area usually divided by two space, the big one for owners and their dogs and small one, on the top of hill for humans. If you have choice then probably Dolores park is more preferable.
Small neighborhood park, great for hanging out with friends. The N-Judah streetcar stops here so it’s super convenient. The eastern half of the park is a designated off-leash dog park. Note for dog parents- this is NOT an enclosed park so make sure your buddy knows boundaries.
Nice grassy area centrally located in the lower Haight, great place to let your dog run around and play with the other dogs or throw the ball and play fetch. Not fenced in but if your dog is well behaved a nice place for a picnic or afternoon nap in the park with your pooch.
Thank goodness for this park. I have to take muni with my pup to get here but it's one of out favorite dog friendly parks in the city. There should be more dog parks in SF! Many puppy parents bring their pups here and its a real social experience for both you and your dog.
Nice green party in the neighborhood. It is pretty quiet there, there are also water fountains and the tram is right next to the park. So it is quite easy to get there. The other people were pretty calm and enjoying their live while relaxing there. Come and check it out!
This is my dogs favorite spot. She has alot of space to reel of a crowded day. Most of the dose are friendly to her and the owners are more cautious bout their pets well being, instead of letting them roam freely. and keep up after their pets is highly respected by all.
By far the best off-leash dog park within miles. Usually a good mix of big and small dogs for your dog to play with. The downside is that the grass isn’t fenced off from the road, but if your dog’s good with recall it shouldn’t be an issue. Friendly dog owners too!
The best dog park in San Francisco, hands down. I used to bring my sister's dog there all the time when I lived close by. My only wish would be for them to put some sort of fencing between the train tracks/street and the park to keep dogs safe from the road.
Hands down my favorite park. Super easy to get to, surrounded by anything you could want: food, bars, coffee, etc..within 2 blocks. Oh also, TONS OF DOGS. Definitely not the park most people think of for a sunny day out so you're garanteed to miss the crowds
One of the cutest parks around. You have 2 types of playground depending on your kid's age and a basketball field right next to it..dog park, lot of green space, good restaurants around for bf, lunch and dinner. You can never go wrong with Duboce park
It's one of this things that's so special about San Francisco. It's not a grand park with amazing landscaping. It's a decently maintained great area for the most part where lots of people gather with their dogs. Great for people watching and relaxing.
Duboce Park is a great place to bring your pup for some catch and there are always tons of other dogs for mine to play with. My only is the ground being soft/a bit muddy but other than that it’s a perfect spot for some afternoon fun with your dog(s)!
Great playground for toddlers - swings, slides, sand, and climbing structures. There's a gate keeping the little ones in and there's a restroom in the neighboring Harvey Milk Rec Center. The dog part of the park is often full of happy, playing dogs.
5 stars park in Sf! Clean and well taken-care of. Great small park for humans and doggies! The park is not fenced in but the pet owners are mostly responsible and clean up after their dogs! Many small and big dogs! It can be crowded on a sunny day.
Really nice place just to walk and talk. Very open environment and people watch place. Dogs running around and people playing tennis! There is a coffee place across the street. The park could be an all day thing. Just bring some food and a blanket
Great scenery. Kids park. Dogs also welcome and roaming around. Lots of in crowd, students, and a mesh of different locals there relaxing, smoking, playing, gabbing, joking and are there to have a relaxing, fun,no worry, good time. Sundays are best.
One of the city's most charming parks. Two great playgrounds for children - one geared for younger children and one geared for older children. Both are right by the N-Judah Muni train for the train fans in your life. Basketball court is fun
Great location. Wonderful lawn. And for dog owners this is probably a 5 which inadvertainly makes it a 4 for non dog owners only because it is one of a few areas where dogs are allowed off leash which had led to dogs not being under their
Great place to unleash your dog! Whilst you watching him or her play, you could set up a picnic with food from Safeway or a local restaurant. Children's play area behind dog park as well!♀️♂️⛹️ …
I love to grab lunch from Lower Haight and hang out in this local park. Its 1/3 dog, 1/3 playground/ 1/3 people park with a basket ball court for pick up games. Its usually sunny. There are benches and plenty of grass and trees. The
Sweet little dog park close to tons of cafes and markets, right beside the N-Judan line and steps away from the 6, 7, 22, and 24 lines making access super easy. Well lit and beautifully maintained, basically, a happy place any day.
Easy park with a large playground. Several play structures and a small sand box for different age groups. We had fun here with our 3 year old and our friend's 2.5 year old. Parking was easy when we visited on a Friday afternoon.
Local park near our restaurant That's My Jam... we take Twiggy here often.
Playground
Large playground and also basketball courts

Dog area is very popular. Recently allowed fresg grass to grow.
Such a beautiful place to sit on the bench and relax. This is a dog park and everyone is very friendly. A lot of dogs off leash which was fun to watch them play and run freely. Really lovely area. ...wish I could live there.
Good off leash park. Been going for years. Gets very muddy in the winter, but they do fence it off. People are friendly without being creepy and the dogs are for the most part, well behaved. Plus it's not super hilly.
Great Park! A dog's paradise lots of running room. Really well kept. My dog has made more girlfriends. Always a wag in his tail when he goes there. Street parking around but can be tough Overall check it out..
One of the nicest dog parks you'll find. Up on a sunny hill, surrounded by San Franciscan Victorians and nice little coffee places, this is the perfect place to come and hang out both with and without dogs.
Great neighborhood park. Top is for sunbathing and people. Bottom is for off leash dogs. Best spot to meet dog people and their best friends. There’s a muni tram stop here and a great playground for kids.
Very nice views from this park and it's about a block away from the historic Fillmore St. I recommend it to walk the dog or when it's sunny to get a tan. Get some great pictures of San Francisco as well!
Lotsa of friendly pups looking to stretch their legs & get fresh air. Sadly, due to the lack of perimeter fence [and the active N Judah train] how many poor dogs will lose their life? …
Great place to bring your dog for some unleashed exercise or a simple picnic. Awesome in the summer but can get a bit cramped on the weekends. Even so you'll still find a great spot to simply relax!
Great stop for train, people and dog watching!
Playground
Very sweet playground. In need of a little love.
Dog-friendliness
Friendly dogs! Too bad their owners can’t follow the rules.
Duboce is a great SF park. It's smaller, calmer, and more family/ dog friendly than Dolores. It's also a short walk to Sight glass on divisidero so you can grab a coffee and drink it in the park.
Great neighborhood/community park that always feels welcoming and inviting and one that you feel safe to visit. The big "star" winner for this park is that it is also a dog friendly park!
A friendly place to let your pup run around and meet new friends. (The humans ain't too bad either.) The park also has a community center and a nice fenced children's play area. …
BudE Appreciates his Stomping Ground; his best Buddies and friends are at Duboce Park. Harvey Milk Center is conveniently located at the west side of the Park. San Francisco historic.
Visited local park with family and friends on a beautiful day. People were respectful and the quality of the equipment was high. Able to shoot some baskets with someone I just met.
This park is popular place to walk your dog or sunbath. There is a basketball court and playground area for children. There are areas nearby to grab a food to have a picnic lunch.
Beautiful park, nice environment with the train passing in the side, dogs running in the grass, and the good looking houses around. Pretty bohemian too, recommended to visit
Nice park. But minimal shade seating areas. Nice children's play area. The two times I visited, it seemed most utilized as a dog park for the surrounding neighborhood
The Dog fest was pretty cool. A lot of dogs, all types of dogs. They had a dog contest, food vendor and things for kids to do. I'm definitely comming back next year.
Great playground for small children with a basketball court and rec center close by for the older children. A large grassy area where people let their dogs run.
Tons of dogs! A great park to relax in, even if you don't bring the pups. There is a large grassy area for sports or lounging, and a playground for the kiddos.
My favorite park in SF - nice, quiet, more family-oriented than other parks in the city. Close to Whole Foods so you can bring lunch as well!
Great playground and basketball court. Friendly dog run. Grassy fields to spread a blanket on. The only thing missing is a public bathroom.
Lots of people walking their dogs. Mostly clean and friendly. There's also a community center and children's play area. Nice.
Amazing little park in one of the best neighborhoods in the entire city. Side note - Dog Fest was amazing we had so much fun!
I love this place, I really like and get relaxed, people are super friendly and many of them have dogs, is kind of therapy!
A people's park plenty of dog walkers chatting together one end a child play area with a good number of mums and children
Great neighbors - people and dogs. Your pup should have great recall to safely enjoy the off leash dog play area.
Great place to sit and enjoy a sunny morning. We loved watching all the dogs playing
Dog-friendline…

Small park, not much shade. You can walk end to end within five minutes. The annual dogfest is held here. …
One of my favourite parks in San Francisco: people, dogs and nature coexist here in the most cheerful way
Great park That's super dog friendly...my lil beast loves to socialize here. Grat plane to just hang out
Amazing little dog park. Well lit and beautifully maintained, basically, a happy place any day.
A lovely neighborhood green space located at the beginning of the wiggle to Golden Gate Park.
Great park on a warm day with lots of dogs, kids, picnikers, and a few guitar players.
Nice park right by a train stop and seems like lots of dogs are walked here.
Lots of cute dogs here. Very peaceful and clean area
Its a cute dog park. Lots of friends animals.
