Sutro heights is like the funky low-key sibling to Land's End. It is never crowded and the views are incredible and panoramic. You can look south down the Great Highway, north to the Marin Headlands, or west toward the Farallons. There are grassy spaces, shaded areas beneath the trees, and tons of quiet nooks and crannies. I work as a photographer – mainly families, engagements, and maternity – and Sutro Heights is a mainstay location. I don't have to stress about crowds and can find just about any environment I am looking for!
A beautiful historical park in Sutro district of west San Francisco & falls under Golden Gate National Recreation Area. It was purchased & developed by wealthy Adolph Sutro in late 19th century. He developed gardens, largest saltwater indoor swimming pools, amphitheater, New cliff house, forest etc. Now only concrete ruins remains that too defaced by graffiti. You have mesmerizing views of ocean beach, seal rocks & pacific ocean Car parking is good enough. Beware of car brakes signs were displayed there.
Great hiking and even some shade.Nice trails and spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean and the famous Golden Gate Bridge.Parking is still free but can fill uphe fast.Plenty to see and watch the container ships go under the gate.Lots of areas to get lost and have picnic or nap.
Beautiful spot, with unique views of the windmills of golden gate park and the outer sunset, as well as the waves crashing into Ocean Beach. Very quiet, out-of-the-way neighborhood park. Good place to walk dogs and view beautiful Cala lilies blooming in the wild.
Beach was awesome, sand felt so good between my toes. It's a good walk across the sand from where you park to get to the ocean but we'll worth it. If you're adventurous the old cliffhanger restaurant is on top of the rocks to the right,
Sutro Heights is a beautiful park located in the Outer Richmond neighborhood of San Francisco, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The park is named after Adolph Sutro, a former mayor of San Francisco, who owned the land in the late 19th
Breath taking view this park has to offer. If you are visitings SF, spare a half day to enjoy the walk in this park. The trees here are huge. I really enjoyed the views looking oit to the ocean from here. I totally recomend this.
This is a jewel overlooking the Great Highway toward the ocean. I had never been there before and I was very happy I found it. The history of that spot is great it's really worth going in hiking around it on a foggy day.
Very interesting place. Pretty, with some wildlife and short trails as well as a cool cave with a view hole to see the waves crashing. Very cool ruins. We went on a Friday afternoon and there was plenty of free parking.
Quiet park with the best view of the entire strip of Ocean Beach and the Seal Rock. It's one of those secret gems in SF that few people knows about. But you will be pleasantly surprised if you stumbled upon it.
A great little hiking area and park with some incredible views of the coastline and Ocean Beach on a clear day. Well worth a visit and the flowers hidden among the trees here are amazing!
Love this place and the walk keeps the cardio going. Views of the Pacific to the Bay starting at the Sutro Baths to the “blowhole” and ending near the bridge makes for great photos.
Beautiful! One of the best beaches in Cali. So much sand, so few vendors trying to sell you stuff, calm. Great place to pull up, sit out and think or dream, or be whimsical!
One of the best spots in San Francisco. The view is high above the beach with stunning views. The park has some of the original sculptures in various conditions.
This was a stunning park with amazing views of the ocean and the beach. Make sure you go up the steps of the ruins of the old parapet for the best views.
The staff, front desk are really friendly. That was nice to see. The room was nice and clean. The breakfast wasn't bad and about what is expected.
Another hidden gem in SF. Small park but full of green & historical feel. Perfect walk from ocean beach & great place for wedding picture.
Stunning views ,great place to enjoy nature& spend some time outdoors for a nice little walk or just to hangout.
Loved this view. Needed to see and hear the ocean today as my mindfulness activity and this area was perfect.
Beautiful views and scenery. Take the time to read the plaques about the history of the place. It’s neat!
i’ll let my pictures speak for themselves

Not a lot of tourists go to this area. It's mostly locals but has a great view of the beach and sunsets.
