We recently caught Dumbo Market trying to pass off expired stock as fresh. We bought a bar of Toblerone from Dumbo Market that had a BEST BEFORE label of "12 2023". When we got home, we opened the chocolate and immediately found it tasted extremely stale. That's when we noticed it looked like the BEST BEFORE label was a sticker instead of printed directly onto the container. We lifted the sticker, and found that someone had scratched out the original expiration date of JUN 2021 underneath the sticker. It's absolutely wild to me that Dumbo Market would try to sell a piece of chocolate that's almost 2 years old past its best before date by faking a label. This isn't particularly expensive stock, this is a $3.99 chocolate bar in an extremely overpriced grocery store. It's one thing to leave expired stock on the shelves. Intentionally trying to fake BEST BEFORE labels is a whole new low. I would recommend going out of your way to avoid this place. It's not worth the chance that you may end up paying way too much for something that may be completely expired and pretending to be fresh.
My first experience was good! I felt welcomed. The lay out of the store is spacious...the products are nicely displayed. The owner was very warm and welcoming. He asked me did I find what I was looking for. I told him that I was looking for a particular product that I did not see. So he did his best to locate the product and did not have it in stock. However, he said he would order the product and have it by next Tuesday. This reminds of "old Brooklyn" where we are community. Overall, I enjoyed my shopping experience. I brought coffee creamer as an alternative to the product(hazelnut syrup). I will return next week to see if he indeed got the product. I live in the neighborhood and Dumbo Market is needed as a community staple. I wish Dumbo Market much success. I believe they will do exceptionally well here!
Been going here 2+ times a week for the nearly two years that I've lived here and finally felt compelled to write a review. For one, If I spent 20 minutes walking through the fruit and produce section pulling out expired items, I could fill up an entire grocery cart. The quality control from the grocery items to the hot bar just hurts my soul. It feels like the staff aren't being paid enough to actually care about the turnover of the stores food, and the attitude resonates throughout the store. Priced like a Whole Foods, but delivering like a mom and pop shop in over their heads with no capacity to provide quality product. If I didn't think this grocery store had potential, I wouldn't care to write. Maybe they'll shape up for the big wigs moving into the Olympia. Maybe not. Oh well.
A mid-sized grocery store in DUMBO. I was a little disappointed by the limited selection and relatively high prices, but Dumbo Market has most staples at a not outrageous price. Additionally, there are some freshly prepared meals and a small seating area to eat in store. The staff were friendly and I have no complaints with the cleanliness of the store. All in all, Dumbo Market is a decent shopping option for the area considering the lack of other close grocery stores.
This is supermarket has a ton of options, HOWEVER, the majority of their fresh food has mold and/or is expired. The amount of times I have bought items that are expired are too many to count. Part of the fault it mine sure, but the fact that it happens every time really says something about the quality they sell there. They really capitalize on being one of the few grocery stores in Dumbo. I hate to say if you want fresh food, Amazon is better and cheaper.
I live in the neighborhood and sometimes use this store to shop for groceries. It’s clean and the selection is pretty good. It’s a bit overpriced but that’s to be expected given the neighborhood. The quality is disappointing though. Produce is often starting to go bad before you take it home. This is also the only shop where I frequently find I’ve been charged too much for an item - like it’s marked at one price but on the receipt for more.
I was amazed how the produce is displayed here. Quantity and above all, quality. This place is quite big, high shelves with a huge variety of produce, from the meat counter, Japanese freshly cooked kitchen, buffet, coffee shop with chairs, friendly staff. I was most impressed. If like me, you are walking by to/from Brooklyn Bridge, this place is a must to stock up on drinks, good food, hot beverages and more, after all it is a supermarket.
had cucumber avocado sushi (pre packaged) and a cuban with smoked turkey instead of smoked ham. phenomenal. very delicious and tightly packed. both of them. great market with super friendly and helpful staff. Thank you Dumbo Market! shown is a cross section of my warm cuban sandwich on a hero roll. The grocery store itself, clean, organized, and a nice experience to walk around in. Very solid selection of natural and organic foods.
I am in love with the orderly nature of this store! Everything is perfectly aligned, clean, and stocked to the edge- with almost no exceptions. For a small-medium sized store, they certainly pack in a lot of choices. We’ve seen items here that are not available in much larger supermarkets. Plenty of grab and go items as well as weekly staples. Good for locals as well as day-trippers. DUMBO rocks!
This will be my new Go-To grocery store in the area! It has all of the essentials, including some name brands, but it also has a lot of healthy options and local products. The store feels very big and spacious, while also being very well organized. The staff was very friendly as well. Compared to places nearby, the prices here are all very reasonable. I’m very happy this shop opened here!
Clean, a lot of variety, some of the fresh fruit did not look good. Some of the fruit such as Driscoll's raspberries for 6 oz. $8.99. However, they charge $10.99 for the 12 oz. pack. I used the self-checkout but the kiosk wouldn't allow me to finish & pay for no reason. The machine called for a staff member and the girl had an attitude which is why I'm giving 3 stars instead of 4.
I work in the neighborhood and come here often to grab a coffee, snack, or lunch. Great market - very large, organized, and clean - with a sizable salad and hot food bar to grab and go. There’s also a large seating area up front with tables and counter seating at the window. The coffee shop tucked up there is also surprisingly one of the best cups of coffee I’ve had in the area.
A lot of people first and foremost. If you come on a holiday or the weekends prepare for a lot of people. DUMBO is a great tourist spot. The tourists will enjoy all this. As far as a local. It is nice for sure but so many people. The food is okay here. Kinda expensive. I can never find a table to sit. Bathrooms always have lines. But the employees make sure they are clean.
I wasn't expecting to be able to find this area, I knew I wanted to take a picture of that iconic view but I didn't make a special effort to find it, however, when walking over to Brooklyn I stumbled on it, so easy to get to and I got the image I had hoped to get, walking onwards to the park was great, very relaxed atmosphere, great views and just totally worth visiting.
Found it looking for some fresh watermelon leaving Brooklyn Bridge Park at Sunset. Great produce selection. Large beer selection. In-store hot food options including hot bars and salad bar plus a breakfast stall and an Asian food stall. Tables in front for sitting down and eating. Lots of fresh flowers at the entrance.
Has everything you could need if you’re in a pinch or a rush, but everything is VERY, VERY overpriced. We’ve started making the trip to Wegman’s (about a mile walk each way) to save money. Also, make sure to check expiration dates before purchasing items; have seen milk and cheese at or past the sell by date.
Bought a cheesecake only to find that it has fungus growing on it. Messaged the supermarket for help, and they failed to give me a way to complain and claim a refund. So first they sell a dangerous product and the only way you can get reimbursed is to go all the way back to the supermarket. Abysmal.
Beautiful store. Impeccable merchandizing of products. Very clean and we'll spaced. Full deli with a plethora of sandwich options (8.99) for a large sandwich with the works. Sushi bar and salad bar on either side. Fair prices for the area. Staff is friendly. Self checkout aisles if needed.
It’s so cold in the store! I like the selection, but it’s freezing and very uncomfortable. I feel bad for people who work there and have to wear 10 layers of clothes all year round. Just because of the temperature I choose not to go there unless I really have to. I hope they change it.
This place has fresh vegetables, has an indoor pizza shop, buffet style food for takeout or eat in, this place also very clean and shelf are always full. If you walk in you will defiantly find what you are looking for and will come out with some extra stuff you thought you didn't need.
It's a nice place to check out if you're in the Dumbo area not far from Brooklyn Bridge Park they have hot and cold food plus sushi a stand and they have spot in the front of the Market to eat a snack or your lunch or dinner not a bad at all come one come all …
A great find for lunch if you're touring the Brooklyn Bridge area. The quality of the prepared food is very good and the place is neat and clean. Cashier staff very attentive and I was even able to converse in Spanish with her. Maybe they should improve a little the restrooms sector.
Literally so clean, you can eat off the floor! Not that you want to, though. LOL! Well stocked and prices for the Dumbo are decent. Paid $10 for a pound of chicken salad, and it lasted a week, without spoiling like fare from.other stores. Sometimes you do get what you pay for!
I didn't have any previous negative experience, but on 3/20/22 we purchased 2 orders of "chicken tender" for $5.99 each... this is what we found...so hard that you can't poke your fork through it...and what kind of meat is that?...definitely doesn't even look like chicken...
Large store with great selection. Not the freshest produce and they could stock some more organic items. Great selection of eggs in particular. Prices are too high though, since they take advantage of their location and that the closest whole foods is 15+min away by subway.
As Modern as it gets, clean, convenient, BIG, friendly staff, WiFi, café, hot foods, sushi, seating and restroom area as much much more .... organic selection, great variety... this is what a neighborhood supermarket is all about folks, it doesn’t get better than this.
This supermarket has so much potential to be great, but more than a half dozen times have I been rung up for something that has been incorrectly priced. The store is rife with mislabeled products, and the staff just shrug at you when you indicate the discrepancy.
complete rip off. blueberries for $12.00. produce is usually gross and goes bad within a day of purchase. The cooked food is disgusting - full of sugar and preservatives. They are just trying to take advantage of people in the neighborhood.
The best grocery in the neighborhood. Reasonable prices (pretty much avg for NYC). Always new items and lots of variety. Huge variety of various prepared foods, deli counter, coffee shop, meat counter. Skip Peas and Pickles and come here.
It has been so valuable having Dumbo Market in the neighborhood during the COVID-19 crisis! Restaurant is well-stocked, well-run, and not unduly crowded. The team here is doing a truly outstanding job.
Very nice place to buy some groceries. The sushies are great and there’s a very big salad bar with a lot of variety. Staff is friendly and the prices are good. Recommend for everyone who’s passing by.
Love the tomatoes and many more fresh vegetables. I give this place 5 tomatoes! Also check out Emerald Gem Exchange for all your Jade, gemstones and Crystals at 145 front Street. Brooklyn , NY 11201
Vibes are really good but the food is just, ehh. The prices doesn't match the food quality. SUPER EXPENSIVE! I suggest go check out the views upstairs and take a few flicks and be on your way!!!
Very organized and clean supermarket with a friendly and often upbeat staff. A lot of fresh items like the chicken wings and flats in the back, and the fruit is something to be marveled at.
Excelente. Te saca un poco de la locura de precios que es el estado de NY. Además de haber de todo, podes hacer cualquier comida en el lugar a precio razonable. Recomendamos absolutamente.
I’ve been a long time customer and my family and I live near by. The managers and employees here are always respectful and help me out. I never had a problem everyone is very respectful.
Everything you need is on shelves that are tidy and well-stocked. Was nearby and wanted to choose a food and beverage. Everything is theirs. a wide variety of beers. self-service option.
Clean and fully stocked shelves with everything you need. Was in the area and wanted to pick out a snack and drink.. they have it all. Large selection of beers. self checkout option.
This place has everything! It’s deceptively big. Many other markets in the area have been slacking off and it’s about time we got a high quality market with great options and prices.
Great sandwiches and nice guy at the deli. Produce (especially fruit) is not priced competitively relative to the other markets on the street. One package of grapes was over $11!
Great place. Friendly staff and lots of selection. Just beware of the bread near the salad bar, a lot of the time it's Moldy obviously not stock rotating often enough or checking
Supermercato in stile Esselunga con self service caldo/freddo, sushi, rosticceria. Con tavolini per mangiare i prodotti appena acquistati e un bar per prendere un caffè dopo.
A great find near the famous photo opportunity, we stopped here for coffee and a pastry at Zaruma Gold Coffee NYC. Really good quality and friendly servers, highly recommend
This is an excellent supermarket and great addition to the neighborhood. Always cream rarely crowded prices are good selection is excellent. You really can't ask for more.
Great variety and excellent customer service! I needed a few important items and couldn’t locate them and the cashier totally helped me out. Wonderful and very helpful.
Nice area but like most of Brooklyn very hard to park. Ate at Alta Calidad at the time out market. Ok but will have to try one of the places on the 5th floor next time.
Happy they joined the neighborhood. Organic everything a bit pricey but its DUMBO. Super convenient and stay open late. Managers are always great help if needed.
They carry my favorite salsa from California, CASA SANCHEZ SALSA!! The only place in NY that I’ve seen so far…. I wish they would also carry their guerso chips!
Fancy place. Good for tourists - you can buy small portions of the different food and come back to the park eat on the bench with the best city view!
We live in the neighborhood and are so happy this place exists. They have EVERYTHING! Delicious fruits, prepared foods and tons of specialty items
The Dumbo market was a nice store. The AC was strong inside. They had a variety of items. I like the options they have for a quick lunch.
A lot of top quality groceries that you wouldn't find at your local super market. Definitely will come again when in the neighborhood!
Very nice an comfortable place amazing variety an helpful people we as a community welcome this market with open arms thanks again
Bought 3 bags of pretzel sticks and realized when we got home that they have expired for more than a month!! …
Found this while staying with friends in DUMBO - great local market and very nice selection. Fresh fish is great!
Amazingly great hot and cold food selections. A little bit pricey...but so delicious! Great option for the area.
Fresh, nice selection and fair prices. Just the type of grocery store Dumbo needs. Great fresh fish department.
I love their hot buffet. It's clean and has a decent variety of foods including vegan options.
Even being a client, the non-friendly supermarket manager doesn’t lets you use the toilets
So convenient! It has a coffee shop and great hot food section and lots of vegan options!
Great selection of fresh fruit, healthy snacks, delicious cake, and tasty hot sauces.
When in luck, you can find a variety of products here so it is a great first choice.
Overly expensive, especially considering their food quality is okay on a good day.
excellent supermarket. super clean, organized, and treat first responders great.
Excellent place to get everything,,,all under one roof great selection of items,
Very cute spot for a quick lunch on canal. Lots of Chinatown gift shops near by
Good store but overpriced, the produce is especially overpriced and not fresh
Beautiful market! Good prices and a lot of on the go options. I’ll be back
They did a great job on Dumbo, still much work needed on affordability...
Literally overcharged for multiple items…every…single…visit. It’s gross.
Good place. Wish the food at the hot bar was hotter, always seems cold.
Very expensive and inconsistent offerings. But what choice so you have?
Great selection, wonderful coffee shop, and friendly and helpful staff.
Best supermarket in all of brooklyn! Great prices and top quality!!
Kool area. Few food spots around the area and couple blocks around.
De la bonne nourriture à payer au poids, bon rapport qualité prix.
Very nice shop with a good variety of fresh produce and groceries
Surprisingly good and well stocked market. Pretty nice inside too
Meats and vegetables are fresh. Clean place. Friendly staff.
Super clean, nice store. Helpful staff. Great fresh produce.
This place was nice and clean and had a lot of good stuff...
The cheaper and better hot food / salad bar option in DUMBO.
Clean market that’s usually empty, but items are overpriced.
I always enjoy coming here. Nice food and grocery items
Don’t get coffee. They charged me for some ice. Crazy
Fresh food, great variety. Definitely try the coffee!
Fresh meat and veggies very affordable friendly staff
It's like an oversized, overpriced, deli. Not a fan.
The first regular grocery store in the neighborhood.
Of course great food. WiFi and clean bathrooms too!
Great place to have a view of the city while dining
Cool grocery store, a bit pricey. Sushi looks good
Best market around, very helpful & friendly staff!

Food is too expensive for a market and quality!
Great service, well stocked, frequent shopper.
