The sad part is that in the morning our food was crawling with cockroacsomething. have video's on my mobile phone of myself with pink dots on my thighs arms and neck with from I have no idea what but all in all I am sharing this mostly so that it will be attended to by the right people within the premises as I had an awful time at room 33, please do something

The service from the staff is excellent! The receptionist, the bar staff, the cleaners are all absolutely amazing. Always super friendly, kind, helpful and it's a great experience when the staff are awesome. The hotel itself had a lot of character. Hotel rooms all have satellite tv and aircon. But there needs to be serious upgrades to the desks, beds and the general hotel. However at the price they charge they are fine. Location is opposite the Durban yacht club. It's got great views from certain rooms and the court yard and gardens are always kept up well and looks great. If on a budget this hotel is great. Good security which is needed in this area.

We stayed for 1 night at the hotel. Our stay was absolutely appaling. We arrived to being given a city facing room when a harbour facing room was booked. When enquiring why, no answers could be given. In our room, despite being booked for 2 people, there was only tea and towels for one person. This was only realised in the morning. We could not call reception to send up more as no way of communicating with reception was provided nor were the phones working. When eventually enquiring about it, housekeeping was blamed. In addition, the toilet had no seat and lid and the water from the shower trickled. A maintenance person did come up and put a toilet seat and lid however the shower could not be sorted out. There was also parties by other guests throughout the night and the breakfast served was cold. The pictures and the way the hotel is portrayed on the website is an absolute misrepresentation. People should rather take their hard earned money and go elsewhere.

Durban Manor! Firstly I'll like to start with the Good news. The staff... Ntombi, Anele Zulu and Yoliswa thank you very much... The service gets 5 stars because of you guys. You made us feel at home. You were always just a call away. Even with our planning to Durban you made it a walk in the park. We arrived and you guys made it more sweet.. honoured to be a guest here. We had no water for the first two days of the visit. The cleaning staff you were a kiss of heaven.... From Velicious I am going back to the dry Northern Cape and I will tell everyone about Durban Manor... For breakfast I still look for words to explain it. They didn't serve me with fried eyes. They gave me a beautiful chicken liver. ... I count my blessings when. I think of this place. Mr D and Bolt.... You were always on time and it was always a pleasure.... Thank you all thank you Durban..

I loved visiting this hotel. The hotel staff were friendly, and being hit by flashbacks of yesteryear was overall a great experience. The restaurant though, with its fresh dishes, but limiting menu items, seemed like I was dining with The Shining's Jack Torrance. The view is pleasing, whether it's upon the inner tranquil courtyard, or out on the docks, it's surely a sight to enjoy. I love to explore old buildings, and the innards of the hotel will definitely provide with enough to explore, you might find the Jan Smuts room, the first bathtub installed in the Durban area, and many other interesting items of historical value. The hotel is also situated a walks distance from everything you need, that is if you don't mind walking. I've found Wilson's Warf filled with enough restaurants for a week's visit, and a 2 km distance from Ushaka Marine World. Without the bells and whistles, it's basically everything you'd expect from your average 3 star hotel.

  • Audry Joyce Dube

Truthfully speaking, the passages look much better than the rooms. We booked a more expensive room and this was it. The view was a dirty roof, so don't be fooled by the "room with a view" prices. Oh the bathroom was just a mess. It's not a place you want to relax in after a long day. The room was just big for no reason really, makes it look ugly since its not well designed. The fridge did not work, we put our food thinking it works, wokeup to a mess since its hot in there. My opinion, don't go to this place if you want to be somewhere comfortable and relaxing. B&B are so much better than this "hotel" You can see the pictures for yourself. I would never recommend this place, BUT if you want a bed to sleep on then leave the next morning then fine.

This hotel did not meet our expectations at all. I am so disappointed and disgusted by the service and mannerisms of this hotel. My friend and I stayed one night. We noticed that there were cockaroches and didn't think anything of it at first. Until we found them in our BEDS! We tried calling reception but nobody is on duty from 11pm. The only thing we could do was spray doom everywhere. We asked for a refund since this is disgusting and we were awake till 2am killing cockaroches but they said there's nothing they can do. The manager admitted that they have a problem and STILL let us stay here. It's appalling and I will never stay here again.

The hotel is in an antique old building which needs some paint especially on the Leslie lane side. It will not cost much for a few tins of green and black paint on the iron bars. It is not looking good at all. However, I got a good room with wooden tiles as I had hoped. I did not want a carpeted room because of mold and stuffy smell. The room was clean and the white sheets were always clean. I enjoyed the room size-perfect. The aircon was not heating. The workers are very polite and helpful. Great staff from reception to cleaners. Overall I had a good stay. Life is not perfect.

  • Deon Pietersen

The beautiful woodwork and antique furniture almost transports you back in the past. You get the feelung that some very important people graces these hallways in the not so distant past. Aome areas is a bit dark though and you have to be careful navigating finding your room. Tbe rooms was a pleasent modern setup with just eniugh space to move around. It a grat place to get away for a bit if privacy but also clise to everything that you dont miss out. I only stayed one night so its hardly enough to make any judgements on service and things like that.

  • Lebo Nompozolo

Loved the service from staff but couldn't not stand the noise from the TV/Movie crew on the ground floor. The generator was literally next to my window and they were never bothered to switch it off after laod shedding I had physically go to reception and complain about it before something was done. Not cool at all

Im glad I stayed there before this looks like a negative post, beautiful building and so contrasting to its environment in its location. The place really has a lot of potential which I hope they make use of. The parking area smelt like urine, our tv remote didnt work, cups were not provided for the tea and coffee which was provided. Worst part is a really bad smell in the toilet when toilet is flushed, must be drainage issues or something. Everyone was friendly and helpful in making our stay comfortable and is in a nice central location.

  • Michael Diamond

Its terribly old school with its furniture ..decor ..it s ambiance..and of course the amazing staff who work there providing the members with polite and respectful service ....clean ,tidy and full of historical pictures ..magazines..artifacts...nooks and crannies that want to tell you a story whilst u listen to its silence .....drenched in history from the founding members of Durban in the 1800 s ....wonderfull evening spent with a few members who invited us for a sundowner after a committee meeting ....will be remembered ...

  • Nonny mali

First they couldnt assist me with directions as to where my room is, I had to fumble the whole hotel entering black abundant rooms till I find my room. At night couldnt sleep there was noise every night of my stay don't know what was going on, loud people drinking outside n music sometimes....was a night mere for someone who came on business, I had to wake up every to attend my conference I came for but the couldn't sleep

Yesterday one of the staff members stole my niece's cellphone and the reception did nothing to help instead they said she must open a case. This morning she's waiting for the manager who is nowhere to be found so that he can view the security cameras apparently he is taking a walk and he is not picking up his cellphone. The lady who was cleaning said this is not the 1st time this is happening so she thinks somebody wants to get her fired!!!!!

Great location, It's great for conferences as they catered fully for a large number of members from what we could see & having spoke to the staff but the rest of us no.The stuff is amazing. Full DSTV package bonus. Don't get me wrong but the hotel is not kept well, only 1 set towels for 2 people. Insects in the bathroom, wind blowing through the windows. Air-conditioning did not work. No dinner or room service. The building has so much potential but just not kept well.

  • Willie Smit

Clean and comfortable hotel in walking distance from the harbor with very friendly personnel. Don't expect a modern hotel as it is an old historic building with yesteryear's charm. From the vintage lift to the abundance of woodwork, this place will take you back to the era of manors. The quiet atmosphere will calm your soul. Apparently they have a shortage of towels, so be patient while they do the washing. Over all good value for money.

  • Katlego Maditse

I went there 4 years ago. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Our room was very clean. I'm going back end of March and I'm sure I'll get the same treatment and cleanliness that I got the last time I went there. I just love the place.

Eventhough the staff tried to be accompanying in many ways, they could unfortunately not contain other guests. My 11 night stay changed to a one night and never again after a not so nice Sunday afternoon and being kept awake until 2am after various complaints. A hostel feel with guests drinking in the hallway and noises and banging and yelling 24hours! Website definitely not a picture of the real deal.

  • Sthe Fuze

Okay, as you enter the hotel, you are greeted by carpets that are smelling like a corner at the rank where everyone pees and leaves. Disgusting carpet, the rooms are okay, but the carpets, the carpets the carpets my dears, aha aha, it's not it. And the hotel would do great with some renovations.

I can give 0 Star for this hotel, don’t book the hotel by looking into photos. There is no proper security and you can find bad smell everywhere, I booked different room and got different room the room was so smelly and can see cockroach also washroom was not clean and I cannot even take the shower due to low supply of water. AC was not working, I never suggest this hotel to anyone.

I loved their prices, they were within my range. Value for money, i wish management can address the urine stench that i experienced at the parking. Not sure if it was something random or a hat is going on, but i could not offload my luggages in peace because of it the day before and the day after. I will ish they cohkd address it

Very quiet and relaxed place and recommended for an inner city escape in Durban. The hotel is housed is a really old building with very modest upkeep but is fairly well maintained. Rooms were remarkably clean and beds were soft and comfortable very nice hotel linen as expected in most decent establishments. I opted for a very modest budget room that suited my needs quite nicely.

  • Sameer Chrisenduth

Security and safety is pathetic. My car got stolen yesterday at the hotel with all my valuables including a laptop. The security gate was open for thieves to freely enter and steal my car in under 10 minutes. Under camera surveillance, there was no security guard in sight which makes safety a serious concern.

When I booked in a had an accident in the parking garage. Parking congested. Room with a view means room with a view of the roof and a tiny bit of the sea. I just booked out immediately. What an immense disappointment. I wanted to stay there for years and when I at last did it was everything but what I was expecting. So sad. Lost my money.

We had large room bay facing which was great with a big bath. The courtyard is beautiful and so are the furniture pieces but it needs a make over to bring together the nuances and history of the place to the 21st century. So much potential. The services to the room could be improved but will visit again.

  • Greg Eva

For a beautiful old building in the centre of town, the internals were not great, taps were loose in place, water pressure was not great and I swear I could smell when the neighbour had used the bathroom. Also not enough towels in the room? The plus side is that room is huge! Bed was comfy and warm.

It's an old hotel, beds are horrible I'd definitely not recommend. Great location though doesn't look safe for me.

Found our friendly crawling friends on the wall. Don't know if I must put my bags in the closet. Cocker Roches is very bad in the hotel rooms.

Was a beautiful place before. Staff and security excellent. Rooms was OK but can improve . Will stay there again as it is central and only good for over night stay.

Our room was not neat at all. Had bad smell!! Poor TV channels! Old furniture. Everything is messed up, aah bathroom is more than worse. I won't recommend anyone

The people were good and very accommodating; letting me crash on their sofas cause I arrived earlier than anticipated. The toilets could do with some remodeling

My brother and I had an amazing experience. From the moment we checked in. The rooms were perfect and service was great. Will definitely return for another stay

  • Shanon

Very clean and neat room. Easy and comfortable booking. I experienced no problems at all. I would use them again and refer them to my family and friends

Place is a bit old but kept clean and staff consistently friendly and helpful. Great if you need a decent, safe place to sleep with decent shower.

  • Brenda Nyama

It has beautiful, antique furniture in the passages and along the starcases. Clean, white bedding. Needs some TLC in the rooms and modern lifts

  • Robert Hurst

Not the greatest night. Hand basin would not drain. A lot of cockroachea, so.e creature dwells in tbe roof at night keeping guests awake.
