Rough dentist, painful cleaning service, loooong wait! Since I was a new client, I made sure to arrive at the dentist office 15 minutes before my appointment start time. I was not addressed by the receptionist until 30 minutes past the start of my appointment time (45 minutes wait). After I filled out all of the paperwork required, it was an additional 20 minute wait to go in for my X-rays. Should be noted that there was only one other patient inside at the time, a technician and who seemed like a lead receptionist out front and even still they were disappointingly slow in getting me into the system and ready for my appointment. After the scans were taken, I was escorted to a chair, where I sat and waited for the dentist for another 35 minutes! Ridiculous! All in all there was over an hour and a half wait to see the dentist past my appointment time. While I understand that perhaps the other patient needed more attention nobody from the front came to communicate how long it would be since I just had to sit there in the chair. Dr. Shkurti was very friendly, but his cleaning technique was extremely rough and painful. Even after he applied topical anesthetic, which I've never had another dentist do for me, the process was very painful and my teeth & gums hurt for a whole day afterwards - something I have never experienced with any other dentist. I was left with a sore and bloody mouth to gargle after all was done. I would not recommend this place to anyone. I am disappointed it has such good reviews on a few different sites, which is why I initially selected it. I suggest finding somewhere else that is punctual and where a basic cleaning doesn't hurt!

I am switching dentists after this. I am SO upset. I scheduled an appointment for 10:00am. The day before, the receptionist asked if I wanted to move the appointment to 10:30am, but I didn't want to because I had a meeting for work at 11:30am. They said that's fine, but I guess it was not. I arrived for my appointment at 10:00am, but the dentist didn't see me until 11:15am. I asked around 11:00am how long until the dentist was going to see me, and they told me he was PARKING...how can the dentist be showing up at 11:00am when my appointment was at 10:00am?! It's fine if the dentist doesn't come until 11:00am, but why schedule appointments before he arrives? Just tell me he's not available until after 11:00am, and I can book an appointment for another time. Be truthful, and I could have booked an appointment for a different day/time. I am usually patient, but this was plain rude. Waiting almost an hour and half for the dentist is unacceptable. This was completely unprofessional. This entire situation ruined my entire day, and I will never be coming back.

This place saved me. My old dentist closed their doors during Covid so I had no dentist and was fine with and procrastinating until I got into a biking accident and chipped my front teeth. Not just slightly, but terribly. I called all around and couldn't find anyone who could help me until I called this place. Timing was of importance and they were the ONLY people who were available to let me in same day. The front receptionists and the whole operation is super professional. Now, 2 weeks later I can say it looks like I never chipped my teeth. I am so grateful. They were SO professional and the office was super clean, I just can't say enough about this place. Needless to say, they are my new dentist along with my whole family and I can't recommend them enough!! They literally saved me and my smile and are the best in NYC and have a customer for life. BTW this is the first review I've done here and can''t say enough about them and their practice. Just go!

Absolutely amazing! After reading some reviews I was hesitant and went in not expecting much. And I had such a great great! Experience. I’ve been working in the healthcare field in a hospital setting for a long time and My visit today was exceptional. From check in to check out, everyone was so professional, kind and helpful. The front desk person was so welcoming. The dental assistant was a sweetheart and patient. She took her time and walked me through my visit. The doctor was also very professional, thorough and went above and beyond in his explanations. They have state of the art machines and technology. I can honestly say this was the best dental visit I have ever had in my life. On my way out I met with the office manager who was also very kind and helpful. I look forward to visiting again. Parking was very easy, on street. Definitely give them a shot. I usually don’t write review but I was so blown away today that I had to share my thoughts.

Hi. Honestly I will not be coming back. I have been looking all over Astoria for a dentist that genuinely cares about their patients’ oral health and hygiene. I keep running into dentists that try to be more on the cosmetic side. It’s really disheartening. I cannot believe a woman at your office had to take pictures of my mouth and compare it to levels of white/yellow/brown on this tooth scale that she held up to my mouth. It was very strange. I’ve never had that done at any other office ever. The doctor pointed out everything that was cosmetically wrong with me teeth. Please re-evaluate why you wanted to become dentists. The dentist also cut me off a lot when I was speaking and didn’t really listen to me. I could tell he was also rushing. The wait time was also suboptimal. I will have to find another dentist. Thank you.

I've been going to this place for two years now and it's the best dentist I've ever been too. I've had dental anxiety my whole life and it's been hard to find a practice that does quality work, takes my insurance, and makes me feel at ease. Dr Ed is funny and always explains exactly what is going on in a way that is non judgemental and easy to understand. He is very good with novacaine and I've never had any pain even with complicated procedures. All of the dental assistants work hard to make you feel at ease. The practice works with you to create a comprehensive dental plan so you can budget and plan long term. The office always sends plenty of confirmations and their hours accommodate alot of different work schedules. The office is always very clean and I've felt safe going there even during the pandemic.

BY NO MEANS NECESSARY DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST. THE WHOLE PRACTICE IS A SCAM AND ALL THOSE 5 STAR REVIEWS ARE GIVEN BY THEMSELVES. I AM GOING TO TAKE IT UPON MYSELF TO DO WHATEVER IS NECESSARY TO LOWER THEIR FAKE NAME/ STATUS TO WHERE IT REALLY BELONGS. Absolutely the worst dentist in all of NY. Only focused on getting his money, makes you wait at least an hour or two and then the receptionist says he is with other patients. It is all a scam to charge the insurance company money. My mother also had work done there, Mr. Shkurti ended up throwing her crown into the garbage so he can charge her for a new one. Guess how long the new one lasted ( 3 weeks). When we went for a second visit, he said you need to do implants and that he will do it for a lesser price.

Excellent doctor, professional and helpful into addressing the problem and how to proceed with the follow ups.I've been with ED Family Dental for a couple of years now. Everybody is very friendly. They're excellent, very explanatory and patient.They make you feel very warm and comfortable. The doctor is absolutely amazing.He is my favorite doctor.The receptionist was very knowledgeable and friendly. The first assistant is sweat & professional and she explained all that I had to do.She made me feel very comfortable. Everything was clean.Nice office with a nice atmosphere.I would recommend this office to everyone who is looking for a great service.

I didn’t have a bad experience. Everyone had Accents, so it was a little hard to understand. The doctor spoke to me in medical terms about my Root canal and I still don’t understand what’s wrong with it. Let me talk about the waiting time. I Made an appointment online for 3 o’clock and was giving a 330 appointment got in early to fill out the paperwork and was seen an hour and a half later left around five but I was there For a total of two hours the wait was extremely long never had to wait that long ever for a dentist. This was my first visit. I’m Afraid to go back and be there for two hours again.

The dentist is kind , his employees are not . The front desk representative clearly told me I wasted there time by putting me in the schedule because I didn’t know in advance how much my treatment cost and couldn’t afford it . we’re in the middle of a pandemic times is hard so I didn’t mean to “waste anyone’s time “ I was just in a lot of pain and this was one of the close by places my insurance told me they’ll cover . It doesn’t cost a thing to be kind to someone who is in pain. I’m not a dentist nor do I know the cost of things or the treatment I needed.

The support staff was polite and accommodating to me during my experience, which got the clinic the two stars. However my cleaning was very painful and uncomfortable. The doctor is the most heavy handed dentist I have ever been to. He numbed my gums before the cleaning which I have never experienced, and initially thought it was a nice comfort gesture. I now believe it was because he knows how aggressive he is and chooses not to improve his technique but instead attempts to numb his patients. He actually cut my gum with his tools, unacceptable.

Greedy is all I could say. They don't tell you the full cost of a treatment (removal and implant) until you're in the middle of it. They string you along with multiple deep cleaning visits for $175 a piece to prepare you for the procedure and charge you $2,000 for only a tooth removal even though the front desk personnel told my mother in her second to last visit that $2,000 includes the implant but it did not. Be careful and vigilant about the costs when visiting them. Clearly they are only in it for your wallet.

If you are looking for an excellent dentist – Dr. Shkurti (Ed Family Dental) is the place to go!!! I have been going there for years, and I will continue to go there even if I have to travel many miles. I have done fillings, root canals, crowns, etc., and the doctor has done an exceptional work! Dr. Shkurti is highly trained, has many years of experience and he uses state of the art equipment. His office is VERY clean, friendly staff and you always get high quality service. I highly recommend ED Family Dental.

I’ve never had a dentist numb me for a cleaning. He is very heavy handed. I have family that returned to him and said the same thing. He uses so much numbing agent and is extremely rough. I don’t care if the numbing is for “comfort” as the person who responds has said. I’ve had other dentists do the job without needing to numb a person before a cleaning. He does it cause he knows he’s heavy handed. After all the numbing goes away it’s painful. Nothing about that is comforting.

Worst professional place ever. They made me visit 3 times just for cleaning. Put me in chair for an hour sitting without saying anything. When I asked why it’s taking so much time, their reply was doctor is not there yet. At least tell me what’s going on. Had to cancel my meetings for my appointment and they don’t care about our time. At least let us know if doctor is not there rather putting us in chair for hour without any info. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Exstray and general cleaning Unprofessionals, hustlers, and liars. If they can take an Additional $10 from you, is a win! My appointment was 2:30pm. After i filled out a book of paperwork (so you don't sue them) They made me wait for 53 min on the f*** chair!! I literally fell asleep. I got up and left at 4:27 ( i can prove it ) without seeing the dentist!! Make sure you don't make the same mistake. I hope this review will be helpful to some patients.

Besides a long wait, I had an excellent experience. I got to the office about 10 minutes early and wasn't taken back until 30 minutes later, and waited about 20 minutes between scans and the doctor. The doctor was very thorough, kind and answered all of my questions. On the plus side, nothing felt rushed! All the staff was very attentive, and recommended both prescription and home remedy treatments for an issue I have. Very clean facility, as well!

This is the worst experience ever. The "manager" is the rudest most vile person ever. Had an appointment at 430. Asked me to go to the examining room at 530. Sat there for 30min waiting. After 1hr 30min i decided to leave and i had the "manager" screaming and swearing at me when i complained about waiting. I beg you, please stay away from these people. Seriously the worst customer service i have ever experienced.

This office will claim that your insurance does not cover a procedure, and then will bill you for the full price while your insurance also pays out the full price. The office staff promised that I would be reimbursed for the total cost of my dental work once my insurance paid them, of course this never happened. I would only suggest going here if you do not use insurance.

Absolutely great experience with very professional dentist! Dr. Ed takes his time, very detail oriented... just what I need when someone works on my smile Staff is very polite, helpful and friendly. Office is spotless and has the latest technology. I felt like a celebrity going into a spa rather some dingy old outdated dental clinic like most clinics in the area.

The experience was a hit or miss. I went with my husband there twice, and one of the front desk ladies was really helpful and nice. The second visit we were there it was rougher - had to ask several times before we could get a straight answer to our billing question. Space is clean, and my husband came out of the visit without major complaints.

Today was my first time going and ED dental exceeded my very expectation of any dentist I've ever been to. Normally, dentist make me nervous as some can be harsh when working on your teeth but the dentist and staff were all so welcoming, sweet, and funny. They were also constantly sanitizing and following protocol. Definitely recommend!

Great experience with this Doctor and office. Very clean, extremely professional and pleasant. From the moment you walk in the front desk is very welcoming and they offer coffee. The doctor took the time to show me videos and explain all my questions and concerns. I will definitely be back for my six months recall.

My family uses Dr. Eduart service for over 5 years. He is verry high level professional that can solve any dental issues starting from cleaning , to root canals, implants etc. His office has high technology equipments. Great setvice. My husband and I had a very bad experience at the ED dental. It is not a dental office, it is a family business. The doctor and his wife which is his office manger are hungry for money. The doctor tries to keep you going to his office by opening new jobs on your healthy teeth.
