I just had the most amazing experience at El Rio Grande Latin Market, and let me just say, I am absolutely blown away! First things first, let's talk about the tamales. Oh my goodness, these little pockets of joy are absolute perfection. Now, let's move on to the churros. These crispy, sugary sticks of heaven are an absolute delight. The outer layer is perfectly golden and crunchy, while the inside is warm and fluffy. I can't resist the temptation every time I go to El Rio Grande, and neither will you! But it's not just about the food at El Rio Grande—the shopping experience is fantastic too. The shelves are stocked with a wide variety of Latin American groceries, from fresh fruits and vegetables to traditional spices and sauces. No matter what you're looking for, you're bound to find it here. They even have a bakery section with an assortment of delicious bread and pastries. It's like stepping into a Latin American culinary wonderland! And let's not forget about the exceptional customer service. The staff at El Rio Grande truly go above and beyond to make your visit memorable. They are friendly, helpful, and always ready to assist you with a smile. They make you feel like family from the moment you walk through the doors.
The store appears clean at first glance. I went in one day to buy some bread upon getting it home I notice that rodent had eaten through the plastic and the corner of the bread. I called and the manager stated" I could bring it back", so I did. When I walked in the store I had them call for the manager. I showed her the bread and she told me that I could get another but that she didn't think it was a rodent bite and that it must have come from the vendor that way and that they would all be like that. So i went and got a new loaf to replace the other and i check a few and they were okay.Just when I thought this was one time incident. I when in for a bag of Chips and the rats were on the chip isle eating the chips and running back and forward. I called corporate and have not heard back so I'm under the assumption the don't care.I would think a place that has an open meat and seafood area wouldn't have rats just running free. JUST NASTY!!!
Its convient in walking distant to my house. Since I dont have a car and they have everything I need. The best fruits and the meats and prices are like everywhere else sales and quality. I am thanksful for Rio Grande. The people, cashiers, stockers, meat packers and some of the mangers are polite and helpful when ever i go in the store. Which is almost everyday. Mary Johnson 12/26/22. I was a bit dissapointed today. I was at the Meat Market to buy 4 lbs of Ox Tails an 4 Tablitas. Well I asked for only small Ox tails. The meatman said that would take too much time, the fresh looking ones were at the bottom of the meat tray. So I asked if they had more small oxtails in back. He said no. Didnt even check. So I was kind of hurt. I never had that kind of treatment from Rio Grande before. Just saying. That was rude. Until 4 years ago, I walked up to Rio Grande everyday to buy something. Mary Johnson
I went around 4:45 p.m. and it was fairly empty. Two registers were opened so I went to the first one because the 2nd one was blocked by employees. The cashier pointed me to go to the next register. I stood there and the 3 employees continued their conversation. I asked if the register was opened and the guy stocking sodas nodded "yes" but hesitated to move. The 2 young female employees continued their conversation and laughing about their gossip until I put my things on the belt. The cashier came around still gossiping with the other girl and rang me up. She didn't greet me nor thank me at the end. She also rang up the mint as lettuce!! Two very different vegetables that can't be mistaken for one another. Go to other locations if you want better customer service.
Introduced my sister who lives in Louisiana to El Rio Grande about a week ago for the sales and the freshly cooked foods near the produce section. Today, she took a whole detour while we were out running errands just for a churro. A single churro! But you know what? It was well worth it. I’ve had them several times and they’re made fresh. What I love about this store most is the kindness of the staff. At any counter, if they don’t speak English, they’re still very kind and go the extra mile to give you service. I love to have lunch here and then walk it off while shopping. You’re not rushed here when trying to get the best price or while checking things off on your list. And, today, I learned that I can even get my money orders here, too. *dramatically faints*
When I say I am a African American guy this will be my to go to store forever reason why I have a disability & they accepted my doctor's care letter and ESA. (THEY PROVIDED ME A SENSE OF WELL BEING & CARE WITH STANDING THEY HAD TOOK CARE OF MY NEEDS & GAVE MY LIFESTYLE A SENSE OF IMPORTANCE.) MOST COMPANIES I FILE CLAIM SUITS WITH A AUTOMATIC WIN BUT THIS STORE GAVE A ME A NATURE OF REASON WITH LEAVING WITH A SMILE ON MY FACE. THE STORE DIRECTOR ACTUALLY READ MY CARE NOTE WHEN MOST DONT CARE AT ALL & FOR THAT I CAN ASSURE YOU I WILL REMAIN VIGILANT. Life get puzzling but you make those pieces fit.
I love the store you can find everything you’ll need, what I didn’t like and was discussing was I was going to get sandwich bread and saw a 3 RAT when I grab the bread and the ran to where all cheese, Ham and sour cream section I just left the store right away told a lady that work there I saw rat I think they should have more maintenance on that because it’s all good in that store where all people eat and buy their groceries and just knowing there’s make me think about going back Again….
Huge choice of meats at decent pricing. Friendly staff. Not sure if they price match or not. They have Mexican sweet bread, large variety to pick from. They also have a food court inside where you can buy some already cooked meals. Tried the tacos and they were good. Large produce section too..I certainly would recommend but if you buy meat ask they not give you frozen cuts as they weigh a bit more than fresh cuts and of course price will go up..
Visited two days in a row looking for Mongoes and although it was the first and second day S of the circular there's none. When I asked I was told they go really fast. Really It's the first thing in the morning, the signs are up and you have 8lbs bags of Nanel Oranges in the spot. Trust and respect your customers they appreciate honesty and transparency. Just tell them the item didn't come in yet and offer a Rain check if necessary.
Great food, and great service and friendly people!! With the exemptionption of one lazy lady that works @ the palapa in the mornings, that doesn't like her job. One morning, she didn't want to bring creamer for my coffee saying they would charge her for it, and on other occasion, didn't want to heat up my cold atole in the microwave, when her other fellow co-workers have done it before, but other than that everything great!!
Prices are competitive, and yes it is Mexican along with a variety of other products from Hispanic origin. Three are two things I constantly find, one is the long lines, they are always long. The other is the workers, they don't care much for costumer service. The tres leches cake, it's good in vanilla flavor, but even better the chocolate flavor! Worth any lines and unhelpful employees.
At the meat department the service is bad. They have numbers but don't use them during the week, and people have no respect for who was in line first. Tried to speak to a manager but had no customer service, he said give me a second and i waited 20 minutes, he Never came to speak to me, guess there is more important things in the store than customers.. Not planning on coming here again.
For me the Pleasant Grove Location is the best store. Its clean, stocked and the staff is Super Friendly!!!! In the carneceria they are mostly bilingual and always so helpful!!! They don't look at you funny when your spanish is broken. I love this store and will continue to shop there. I wish they would bring El Rio to Ennis or Corsicana area!!! Trust me, the business is there!!!
The store is always stocked but the employees are always rude. They won't even look at you. They scan your items tell you your total then ignore you. If yall don't like your job, then quit. On multiple occasions I've caught the cart pushers (The men) looking at woman in a disgusting way. Yall should probably do a class on how not to be disgusting perverts.
They lady who made my cake did not honestly pay attention when I was making my order If I could give this a zero star I would and the manger said it was what I had asked for clearly it was not what had been written on the paper and if I didn’t like it to just give me my money back they need a new manager their he was so rude a completely a**
They could use a few pointers on customer service. They've barrowed so many of the larger chain store courtesy policies that you'd think they would copy some of the essential ones. It discouraging to see three employees servicing one customer but seven people are in line each line. Delegation of assignment is a skill of rare heritage.
This place was horrible! Now I remember why I stopped shopping there! The young sacked that o had was rude and disrespectful. Was having a converstaion with the cashier about personal stuff using vulgar language. When I stated that as a customer I didnt want to hear it she started to yell at me . The worse experience ever!
Do not work in here! They fired me from the aguas frescas department just for buying myself a water for 50 cents instead of 3.16 $ , even when I wa stage one that made them very early in the morning, they didn’t even let me take my tips! And they even throw the left over waters instead of giving them to their employees!
Its okay i go there just because its the nearest mexican store near me with variety of foods ..only thing is the meat market i swear everytime i go its like a fight over whose next dirty looks and the carnicero says pues nose yo nomas agarro la que sigue and its like 15 ready to jump in they need to go back to numbers
This store has it all from ready to eat food which I'm not really a fan of. To bakery where the cakes are the bomb the ones that are fresh and sea food, carniceria where I love getting my fajitas and diary products the prices on something are cheaper other places but somethings you can get good prices on...
Really great market. You can find a lot of fruits and veggies is why we came. Recommend by friend that they had good produce section. The meat section was a little mmm not so well. Has a strong smell but could be just the fish and the Meats that give the smell. Everything else is great, prices looked fair.
DO NOT buy from their soft drinks. I bought atole from them and I noticed half of my drink that it had lots of small animals in it… I was truly disgusted and I almost threw up. I went to talk to the manager and said I was going to get a call and tried to dismiss my report. NEVER AGAIN be careful guys.
Honestly I really liked this store. Fruits and veggies were fresh. Store temperature was nice, store was organized and most off all meat section didn't stink... I'm switching to this store as my grocery store... Updated Review: Still continue to say all of the above. Good job in maintaining this store
Typical grocery store with the Latino flare. Never had a bad experience here. Some things are on the pricier side compared to other places like walmart, but you can still find some good deals now and then. The meat selection is usually pretty good. When we have cookouts we usually come here first.
I purchased coconut from here got home and cracked the coconut and drunk the juice opened it up and the coconut was filled with Mold...When I called to tell them they said bring my receipt and they will refund me...I been throwing up sick They can keep their $1.29 pay for my hospital bill...
I preordered a cake for my daughter’s birthday for $65 and they didn’t even add the decorations on the cake like they were supposed to. Also, they didn’t even write happy birthday on the cake until we asked them too. I will not order a cake from here again. I was very disappointed...
Every groceries shopping experience here is just wonderful. I always find what i need. I requested that they sell a specific fruit that it isn't sold commonly. "GUANAVANA" or "SOURSOP" and they have it now. It feels just amazing that they consider customers requests. Thank you guys!
Big store and have almost everything but I didnt like that I've been twice for a propain or gas tank refill for my BBQ grill both times I was told they were out when really nobody wanted to go out and serve me. I went to the CVS across the street both times. #pino …
I love shopping here the prices are just perfect. I bought alot of food and Only paid 200. And it was alot of food so I recommend this place to anyone. Please go and spend your money on great food and the employees are very helpful. Everyone deserves a raise …
Ordered a cake from bakery so it could be freshly made the next day. The cake tasted as if it had been sitting out for days. It was hard and tasteless. Never again will I buy pre-ordered cakes here! Save yourself the bad times and just order at a professional bakery.
It's an ok place, cashiers can sometimes show their mood alot and they don't mind letting you know they don't like working there while throwing your things in a bag while being too angry to even smile to the customer but if you don't mind that then it's ok
Go here often, good variety of things for a Mexican supermarket, just feel some items r over priced ,need more Express lanes ,n the one they fo use stays closed 75 percent of the time, carniceria b a mess, don't go by numbers, just go by whom they see 1st
Came for a torta, never been here before. LET ME TELL YOU . the fries were uncooked. The torta was so bad. Soggy. I didn't even get to eat it all. Lost my apetite. The lettuce tasted like dirt. Save yourself a stomach ache and don't get the torta
It's very comfortable in there. Great food and prices. Near home and has everything you need. The lines for checking out are long, bit the cashiers are pretty quick and accurate with handling money. No mistakes and the managers are very nice.
Overpriced! Look the staff is really friendly and I am not rating one star because of them. It has everything to do with the pricing. Y'all are placing stores in lower income neighborhoods to basically Rob people. You should be ashamed
The security here singles me out whenever I shop here. I come in. I shop and he follows me. I pay and he follows me to my car talking crazy. I'm a level headed dude, but he gone catch me on a bad day, so I'll spend my money elsewhere.
This place is very legit when it comes to being a Mexican supermarket they have everything from hot food to Mexican products to handmade flower tortillas and also they have everything an American family would need it at the house.
I love this grocery store but after tonight I will not be stepping one foot into that place with the size of those RATS...they need to be shut down and when I told the mangers they laughed and had already known about the situation
I go here for ease of convenience, never really check prices! Usually long lines in the evening, making it frustrating if you want to get in and I out! They speak limited English and do not have express lane nor self check out!!
Very good prices. Since I don't speak Spanish I had a hard time finding stuff especially In meat market since everything is in Spanish. Some things have translation in small print under the Spanish. It is a mostly Hispanic store
This is a very clean and well stock grocery store to shop for the family groceries. Fresh and frozen meat counter as well as sea food. This store have a hot steam table that you can purchase ortentic Mexican food. Delicious!!!
So got some tamales, never Never again I’ll purchase them, Burnt !!salty !! An I only asked for 12? They gave me $30 worthless tamales, an I got more than 12 tamales . I was being nice to not correct them?? Boy I regret it
You can everything buy whatever you want at Rio Grande. It has variety of options of food. Everything is delicious. The best part is the water they make. Most of the people are nice. I highly recommend going to Rio Grande.
Stores employees are amazing! Flor was friendly and greeted me when I walked into her line. Although it was busy, she made the transition from one customer to another go as smoothly as possible. Will be returning !
The customer services is amazing all the stuff they with racial comments they get their still so sweet and I really think their strong, there food is good. It has a lot of things to chose form rather than Walmart .
Always loved this place it's like a tiny market where you can eat and wait for you cake at the same time prices are awesome and the staff and workers are awesome and polite always helping out customers in need
I buy few items and express lane still closed n I wave worker to tell them open express lane …. They just try ignore or won’t help me I here 830 n I have to wait other people who has 50 item or more
I went in 40 minutes(37min to be exact) before close and was told they were closed. Last I checked on google they close at 11pm, last I checked on their door for confirmation was they close at 11pm.
Amazing food and amazing staff! Muchas gracias! I highly recommend the tacos from the grill and the "green energy water" from the desserts bar! Their freshly baked sweet bread is lovely as well.
Waiting in line for meat, got what i wanted on one side no one told me you have to ask the same person to get meat on the other side, so the old woman wouldn't help me. And i just left!
This is the worst store to deliver to. The receiver is very unprofessional. She always has an attitude. The wait is extremely long. I totally dislike coming here point blank period ugh!
This store has gorgeous produce! The staff is super friendly and the store is ALWAYS orderly and clean. It's a little pricey but if your budget can stand it, this is the place to shop.
Always great deals on fruits and veggies!! Good deals on meat also. Love getting the fruit drinks when i go. I did find a hair in my barbacoa last weekend though. Wasted 10 $$$.
I went to get a drink and those ladies they always with bad attitude and they never want to make anything cause they always in the rush to clean and close bad customer service.
Good produce selection and shows lots of Mexican tradition within the store such as the selection of food to the fresh flour tortillas being made for customers to enjoy.
Love it ! Found everything i needed ! Everything was well organized and the employes were so nice and helpful! Checkout was fast and easy! The cashier was friendly !
I feel bad for the employees who work for this company. Working hard but hardly paid. I see their prices going up but I bet their employees are been under paid ..
I like that i can buy fresh meat at a good price. But everything else is too pricy. Also, stuff is marked on sale but comes up regular price. More than once
As always great prices, good quality fruit & veggies but unfortunately not the same as the one on Galloway & Hwy 80, they don't carry PITAS!!! …
It's alright they need to work on their fruit and produce aisle some of the items are spoiled or out-of-date and also some of their prices are way off
This store is great they have the freshest Fruits and veggies...when They bring the seating place to eat at the taqueria I will give them a 5 ⭐
yesterday I bough some juices and they taste it all sour . Like if they left them outside I bought agua de frutas but it tasted really rotten
Very clean love how they have everything organized and i love the bakery how fast they attend you and i never had no problems with an order
Love this place! Friendly staff ready to help, good variety on meats, vegetables, and daily mexican bread! Best tasting mexican bread!
I wish they posted their weekly ads online. I'd definitely get my weekly shopping there if it did. its just hard to plan without it
I love Rio! They always have great people, all lines are open, and their Fruita and veggies are always fresh and inexpensive!!!
Thia Rio Grande is Great the prepared food is awesome. Very courteous staff and the tamales are to die for they sell out quick.
Great prices on the meat and love the layout of Mexican food variety! Wish they had other products from other Hispanic places.
Pleasant place to shop for fresh and wide variety of Latin groceries at affordable prices and and excellent customer service.
This store has everything you need in the kitchen!! Buying groceries couldnt be easier. The checkout lines are fast as well.
Store very clean smells clean. Big ups to management and employees for having pride in keeping your store looking immaculate
The store was super clean and the bathroom was the cleanest I've seen in a long time. Look forward to shopping there again.
Large spacious store, good looking produce, fair prices, rather large selection of meats. Baked goods looked good as well.
My favorite. Have great prices ...meats... Deli... And bakery... Plus Rico's elotes is right outside the door MY FAVORITE
most likely not return here too expensive $3.99 for a 18 count eggs I can get a double pack of that for less at Walmart .
Place is clean and great variety. Prices are high as a cats back. I’m bougie and flush with cash and it’s just too high.
It a good place, but... They need more, MORE CASHIERS!! The lines take forever, no way this would be a "quick stop"
I love shopping there cause I am able to find all my Mexican products I need and the fresh meat is also great.
It's an okay place I guess. Decent produce in baked goods. Meat is overrated. Lots of Bones not much meat.
Very clean, great bakery, great employees, my favorite Latin market. Lot's of vegetables at great prices!
Rio is expensive Fiesta on Buckner between Syene and Bruton is way cheaper and they have way better sales
It was a great experience, produce was very fresh. Lines were not long like walmart. Lots of great deals
Love this store. We always find all we needand very good prices. Very clean and nice workers. Manager.
They had a security guard that escorted my disabled wife and I from our car into the store.# AWSOME!!!
Fast and very polite. Made it super easy to replace my tires and good price!! Truly recommend!! …
The best 3 leches cake and it's at a very good price. They also have a great sale on food products.
El Rio Grande has the most reasonable on there meat...And the restaurant has some very good food.
Love when they have sales an their always open during the holidays when most store's are closed.
Good prices. Cheap fruit. Good Mexican food inside. Fruit bar too. Great fresh bakery options.
They need to down the price...and better workers more kind more care on his or her personality
This shopping center where "El Rio" is located is inhabited by a black racist security guard.
Good experience. Wide selection of produce and meats. Bilingual cashiers and a fast checkout.
I shop there for my church kitchen for charity found raising good deals nice people. …
My first time coming but have really bad service on the meat area I will not be returning.
They good with people i like when i come and shop i did today for my daughter and husband
Unfriendly cashiers. Too crowded all the time. The produce is mostly always bad quality.
The place is huge the fruit is so nice looking and cheap but the rest is another story.
Here you can find the best fajitas in town without having to pay an arm and a leg
I hate that they are always packed, the register girl was really nice and helpful
Like the name suggests, good variety of Mexican products. It's just expensive.
