Elevation Bike Co is an excellent MTB store and repair shop based on my five interactions with them on various issues so far - asking for advice, buying gear and accessories, bringing bike for repairs and testing out a demo bike on a mountain. Scott and Charlie appear to be knowledgeable about all aspects of mountain biking and they consistently apply this knowledge while taking into consideration your individual situation. They do it without an attitude or upselling, so you feel comfortable going back to their shop for your next need. You can also clearly sense their sincere passion and respect for the sport whenever you deal with either one of them. Charlie and Scott were fast with my repairs and communicated effectively in the process. The products they suggested turned out to be of great value so far. Best bike shop I've been to in the City, by far. Nowhere else knows mountain bikes so well. Deserves all five stars. Charlie is a really nice guy. That alone is reason enough to like a bike shop...but beyond that, he's a skilled mechanic with a ton of experience, who goes out of his way to accommodate your schedule and needs. Every time I'm in there, they have an interesting stable of demo bikes and a nice selection of components. A total gem in the Sunset, and worth going out of your way if you live elsewhere in the city.

This is a very strong bike shop with highly skilled mechanics. Small, core bike shop. Customer service and pricing are top notch; quick email communication, personal service. Charlie and Scott will also go out of their way to help you learn about your bike. I used to go to another shop that was pretty good (MTB) but they can't match this level of service and very fair and transparent pricing. This is my shop now even though I live in Marin. Best mechanics in the Bay Area!

My rear derailleur hanger bolt fell off my mountain bike and I couldn't ride. I dropped by Elevation in hopes they had the special bolt available. Charlie welcomed me in and was able to spare me one, which saved the weekend for me! Not only that but when I mentioned I was looking to get a full suspension bike eventually, he happily explained to me the main differences between the bikes, the brands, types of suspension, etc. I will definitely be back soon for that bike!

I was introduced to Scott and Charlie of Elevation by a friend who's known Charlie for a long time. I met them at a demo day at China Camp, where Charlie spent a few minutes tweaking my bike to run better just for fun (and for free!). Since then, I've dropped my bike into them for service and had a fantastic experience. They are very friendly, knowledgeable, and non-pushy, so simply excellent people to do business with.

I am pleased to have discovered this great bike shop just around the corner from my home. Scott and Charlie are both very knowledgeable and friendly. As serious road cyclist with an expensive road bike, I am very particular about who I trust working on my bike. Charlie is a top-notch mechanic. His work on my shifter upgrade truly exceeded expectations and he will now be my regular mechanic.

Just picked up my bike after Charlie did a tune up, changed out the brakes and chain. It’s riding like a dream. They do great work! I had another bike shop try to fix a mushy feeling of my rear brake (which they caused) three times and they ended up just telling me it was my imagination after charging me a hefty price. Now the brakes work like new. Really appreciate their excellent work.

The shop owner is pretty incredible. He helped me get my bike squared away for a good price and gave me tips and advice along with answering all my questions. A genuine nice dude who knows what he’s doing. He’s got tons of parts and bikes and has always greeted me so kindly. 10/10!

Nowhere else I'd go in the bay area for MTB tune up / repairs! Charlie truly knows his stuff and won't do unnecessary repairs just to upcharge like some shops do. Fair prices and good honest work. Also has an amazing collection of retro DH bikes that are a wonder to behold.

Elevation is a fantastic shop. They do not have a huge REI or Walmart inventory, but will offer you expert advice on purchasing a new mountain or gravel bike, and is a top notch place for tuneups and maintenance.
