First let me start of by saying I did not read the reviews for this place prior to trying it. This "spa" is conveniently located across the street from my place and so I thought despite the ridiculous pricing it was ok to at least try them out. I came here a couple of times. First time my husband and I went together with our very well behaved one year old. I could tell they weren't kid friendly by the nasty looks my son was getting. Nonetheless I came back 3 more times. It was on the 3rd visit where Candy did my nails. Despite her snobby attitude I thought I'd give her a chance. She did an ok job on my pedicure all whilst laughing and giggling with nearby coworkers about something most definitely pertaining to me. While I don't speak Korean I know how to read gestures and her pointing sealed the deal. Now you can understand how uncomfortable that can be. Simply put, I couldn't care less about this and so still decided to proceed with my gel manicure by Candy. Who as she stated HATED the color I picked because it was too much work to apply. She told me I should pick another color, I refused. As she proceeded she said she would have to do three coats, I wanted 2. She insisted on the 3 coats because she didn't like the way it looked. "Too streaky" were her words. I thought it looked fine. I'm not sure she realized I'm entitled to tell her how I want MY nails to look. Not once did I feel welcomed or relaxed simply because she had such an attitude about everything. Now at this point I'm thinking god this girl is nasty and if I come back I will have someone else work on me for certain. Now to the reason why I'm actually writing this review, my fourth and final visit, today. Truthfully, I don't even know why I bothered because I was already disappointed with this place but the convenience is what got me today, lazy Sunday I guess. I went in for a pedicure and a silk wrap. As soon as I mentioned the silk wrap the girls began to call Candy. Im assuming she's the silk wrap girl, not sure. And because of my assumption I decided not to request someone else. I should've probably left when she made me wait 15 minutes for a pedicure while she finished her lunch. Again once finished, pedicure was ok. Still being positive she gets started on my wrap. Firstly making me cut my natural nails shorter which according to her were too long. Sure cut them, no problem. Secondly, the chemicals she put on a couple of my nails burned my nails pretty badly, without a warning ! It stung so bad and when I let her know it was hurting she said sorry can't help you. If that's not bad, when trying to pull my finger away she refused to let go of my finger and proceeded with burning me. That is when I decided I'd write my review. But it only gets worse ! The time comes to pay my $118 which apparently was a discounted price after she quoted me all sorts of things in the beginning. Nevertheless I give her my debit card and tip her $10 because despite her lack of knowledge of customer service she did spend quite some time on my wrap. Now before I tell you what happens next I need you to understand. 1. I'm an adult and at the least deserve to be spoken to as one. 2. Her poor etiquette is not an excuse. Candy felt compelled to say " honey I need to tell you something" and asked me to follow her to a massage room. Here is where she proceeds to tell me that she thinks I'm a nice girl but that she wants me to know that I should be tipping her at least 20%. Now here's just another assumption but I'm more than certain that she thought I was going to hand her that 20 dollar bill I had at this point. What I really wanted to hand her was a slap across the face for even thinking it was ok to be that disrespectful. Tips are a privilege ! They are based on MY satisfaction on a service offered. They must not pay her well enough. Don't waste your time at this place please. Many times in my few visits have I witnessed the owners being rude to people. Take your money elsewhere and get better service.

I don't really leave reviews on Google but I wanna support the new owner of the salon because she was really nice and I could tell she was concerned about all the reviews that came with buying the salon from the previous owner. I don't get my nails done regularly but I used to go to the other cheaper salons on Vernon. I gave this place a chance before my engagement shoot because my roomie had a bad exp with the one on vernon and liked her experience here. I came two weeks ago to try out the Hailey Bieber nails and called to make an appointment. They were really accommodating and said they could do the chrome. I ended up upgrading to UV gel (never did this before) and it was such a good decision. My nails are reallllly thin so the UV gel made my nails look so nice and smooth and supported. I ended up loving the base color more than the chrome so I ended up keeping the pearly white color. The manager agreed that it would be more suitable for my engagement shoot (which was nice to hear them give their honest opinion). I looked at my nails so much in the past two weeks because they were so pretty haha. This place is definitely more expensive than the ones on Vernon but I could tell the immediate difference in quality. To be frank, I got my toes done on Vernon that morning and my nails done at Emily later in the afternoon. I wish I just got everything done at Emily because my toes looked rough in comparison to my nails lol. I also got my UV gel removed 2 weeks later (yesterday) and it was a really smooth experience. She left a thin layer of the UV gel to make sure that my nails weren't going to be too fragile and said I could grow it out and have a little more of a base for regular gel later on. I would recommended trying this place!

Came here for a regular manicure. From the pushing back and cutting of cuticles everything was rough. I winced a few times and eventually pulled my hand back asking to please be gentle. She started having conversation with her coworker next to our station- we know how that goes... I chose the color "Wicked" by Essie. Before the manicure as she gets to the painting stage, she uses one coat, half strokes over the nail, not completely covering the entire nail. Instead of doing both hands and going back over with the second coat on the hand she began with, the woman picked up a second bottle, similar in dark color, no label and begins to paint almost immediately. I asked if that was the same color and the woman jerked my hand said yes. Over the course of her painting I politely had to ask to please remove the paint from my finger, or please use better strokes to cover the nail. The manicure was $22.00. As she took my card she yelled "tip in cash or Venmo only do you hear me".. Excuse me? Let's make it through to the end and see how you do. Sure enough, as she uses the top coat on my right hand, she painted with it like it was cuticle oil and went all over. I abruptly said "That's enough here," grabbed my belongings and left. NO CASH OR VENMO. I would post a picture of the terrible streaks the woman did on my nails but I went straight home to remove the polish. Do not come here. Service is rude. Basic manicure is way over priced. Place was dirty and smelled like damp towels.

Came here because the reviews indicated that new ownership made the salon better. This is not the case. I would not recommend coming to this nail salon. Came here for dip powder removal. Not only is there still dip powder on my nail but where there is no dip powder my nails have been filed dangerously thin. More than half of my nail bed thickness has been removed leaving my nails red and sensitive to touch and pressure. The tips of my nails are already lifting upwards due to how thin they are. I was charged $36 plus tip to be left with damaged nails which will require months of rehab and growing out. I have attached photos of what my nails look like immediately after leaving the salon. (Edited to add additional photos from the next morning, I took off the nail on my right index finger at home before coming to Emily Salon starkly showing what my healthy natural nail looks like in comparison to my nails after they were mangled by the removal. You can also clearly see dip powder remaining on my nails on my left hand in these photos.)

The only reason why I'm not giving this four stars is because I believe the prices are very high compared to other places I've been to. was my stylist and she was AMAZING. She did an amazing job on my highlights, cut, and blowout. She did try to upsell an awful lot, which was a bit of a turn off, but understand why she does it. My total came to after tip and tax for cut, color, and highlights. This was the discounted price because I had a promotional card. I can't even imagine spending more than that at original price. They offer beverages upon arrival and give you a robe to wear, so it feels like a salon. The guy who washed my hair was fantastic and also gave a really nice neck and shoulder massage. Downside is that you also need to tip him too. I think did a great job, but just can't justify coming back to spend this much money on my hair ever again

I almost didn't make an appointment here based on the reviews. I got highlights and a cut here today and I am so happy with my decision! I am pretty picky about my color and cut and was nervous to let someone new do my hair but it was so conviently located next to the building I live in. The woman who did my hair was so friendly and sweet. She didn't speak the best English but that didn't bother me at all. I just watched something on my phone and she chatted with a girl that worked with her. It really was an all around great experience and I hope this gets through to someone and they don't avoid this place due to the bad reviews. Also I read that that prices were a little high, I don't really agree. Everything here is expensive but the quality was worth every penny.

Tried this place out for this first time... price gouging on a polish change and regular mani. They close at 8:30, I went in at 7:15 which is plenty of time for the services requested. The first woman was very rough and rushing to leave, then I assume the owner, took over to do the polish and did a terrible job. There was red polish all over my fingertips and it's already chipping. When she sat me in the chair to dry, she rubbed my shoulders for 5 seconds, slathered oil on my nails and asked me to leave. I couldn't even put on my jacket! My nails were still completely wet! This place needs a facelift and better service. I won't be coming back.

I would 100% recommend this salon. I’m a regular customer and everyone who works here is kind and respectful. My husband and I came here for our wedding prep and as per usual, experienced excellent service. I actually had my wedding nails done here and I was blown away by the result. I walked in and they immediately took care of me. All I had to do was show a photo and they matched it as per my liking. I often bring my mom and mother-in-law here and they always have a fabulous experience. Not sure where these other reviews are coming from, the staff here are always friendly and are good with kids.

The worst service ever. They lie and are rude to women with children. They cut my 15 month old’s hair 4 months ago. I called to make an appt today and three times asked if it was ok to bring my 18 month old and they said of course. When we got there they stylist started to cut his hair then the owner ran and in and said no no no, and told us to leave. Literally after they started cutting. And yelled at me. I said they said he could come and they said they never said that. Lies all around. Will never go back and urge others not to go either.

I live close by and came here to get SNS nails removed and redone. They took off the SNS nails I had on (that I got done at a place close to my office and it lasted for nearly two months!), and then they redid it. Five days later multiple nails had cracks on them and 13 days later (today) three nails chipped (see picture). I stopped by there to see if they would at least remove it for free since it cost $50 with tip and it barely lasted two weeks-- they refused, and were rude and defensive--> save your money and go ANYWHERE else.

I tried Emily S&S for the first time last week, and it was by far the best mani/pedi experience I’ve had in LIC! The place can get busy.. but it’s not chaotic! No one is screaming or running around frantically. I felt relaxed as I got my services done. Kudos to the one who did my nails (I forgot to ask for her name!) She tried her best to perfect and the copy the inspo I got from pinterest. I’m so happy about my chrome nails! Will be back to try their other services. I saw people going in a lot to their massage room.

Just don't. They don't accept appointments, walk-ins only so expect to be sitting there for a while if they lure you in by telling you the wait will only be 10 minutes, which is false. The quality is awful. Personally, I like my entire nail to be painted, including the corners. Expect this tragedy if you're getting a regular mani/pedi as opposed to gel, etc. I was also told a blowout was $40 but because I had shoulder length curly hair it was an extra $20 because of my "type of hair". Never again.

It’s a great spot to get your nails & pedicure done! I have been getting my nails & pedicure since about an year It’s a little expensive than other salons but you definitely get quality service I get UV gel nails done always & my nails are a breeze I get so many compliments all the time I highly suggest trying “chrome nails” if you haven’t already The ambience & overall vibe is great Staff is friendly & owner is a very nice, bubbly & kind lady They are professionals & do a wonderful job!

I am a regular customer and get my men's hair cut here every 3-4 months and never had a problem. The staff was always very nice to me and they do a meticulous job with the cut. They are on the expensive end but they have always been accommodating and I've always had the same woman cut my hair so I feel it's worth it. It seems like most of the problems come from their nail services and I can't really speak to that end of the business but I would recommend them for a hair cut for sure.

I had been eyeing the reviews on this place and after seeing some positive reviews in the last couple months, finally decided to give it a try. And I’m so glad I did!! I went here for the first time yesterday and had an amazing experience. The staff were all very friendly and attentive, and there’s even festive decor and music for the holidays. They also opened the package of sterilized tools in front of me which I appreciated. I will definitely be back!

I was stunned by the behavior when three of us (women of color) walked in. We were unwelcome and was told only one of us would be seen (an indication that we should leave). A lady who happens to be white then replied and said "my friend is on her way, does that mean she wont be seen?" (of course she signaled to her that it would be fine.). I should have walked away at that point because the service was so poorly done for the amount I had to pay.

Love this salon!! We have been going there for years and have always had a great experience. We moved from LIC and miss this salon so much! Everything is so clean and my nails always looked perfect. The owners and all staff are so nice and professional. We will come back when we visit the area in the future. We miss it!!

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. The owner is a racist, very rude and uncouth. She has an attitude problem seriously. I saw some recent reviews saying that the bad reviews are all from the past when it was owned by previous owner, but this is not true. CURRENT OWNER IS TERRIBLE.

I made appointments for me and my sister in law a month before and they canceled one hour before the appointment. This place is awful. They acted like it wasn't a big deal and refused to do anything for us like give us a free service to make up for it. Horrible customer service.

Totally overpriced! They do an ok job at best. P.S. update your hours online because they're wrong and i don't appreciate wasting my time to come there only to find out that despite what's posted online and the fact that you're in there sitting around, you won't take anyone.

Bad quality work. I live near by and would really love to have a good nail salon near home so gave them three chances. Anywhere in NY can do better than this. It’s just a pity that they’re so effortless, they have a potential clientele in the area and little competition.

Wow! horrible service and experience. Lazy and uninterested staff. Poorly skilled. I had to come home and redo my nails. The pedicure nail color was so sloppily applied my 3 year old can do a better job. If you go here, you just have really low standards.

I have been here a few times to get my nails done. The staff is always nice and they do a really nice job with my nails. They also have a rewards program where you can get a free regular manicure after 10 visits!

Very unwelcoming ! Came and hour and a half before closing and they refused to service me but accepted someone else’s friend. Rushed my pedicure . Very overpriced

$40 pedicure which leaves your skin flaked and not in any way butter than it was. Polish is OK. Lady was nice but I think they rush through appointments.

I got extensions here. They came out pretty textured and crooked. Would not go again. The technician tried her best but it was just not very good.

Chair broke in the middle of the chair massage and, unbelievably, they would not apply any discount to the massage. Poor customer service.
