I’ll be honest, I left this location feeling embarrassed, helpless and defeated. Although there were mistakes on my end, I would have expected more clear information of what would be needed overall so I could have been more prepared and planned accordingly. I called this location a week ahead of time because I needed a car to go out to the east side of Michigan for a funeral. When I called at the beginning of the week I was told that all I needed was a credit card and I’ll be all set to rent a car. (I assumed that, credit meant either credit or debit, so that falls on me completely). Nevertheless that is all I was told that I would be needing. When I come into this location I was met with an immediate upgrade to a luxury car with an expectation of having a credit card. No extra charge to me of course which was great, but I didn’t have a credit unfortunately. I told them that I did not have a credit card, and that I would need utility bill that matched the address on my ID, or something with insurance with that be matching the address on my ID. I do not own a car so the insurance option did not apply to me. So a utility bill is what I needed to be able to rent a car. I explained my situation of not having a utility bill in my name, because luckily where I live all my utility bills are covered within my rental agreement. The head guy was adamant of me having a utility bill that is either a gas, electric or water bill in my name, and reiterating insurance option and of course a form of ID and possibly something else, I was rather upset at this point so I don’t remember. Either way I’ve rented a car with this company before and I remembered I used a phone bill as a utility bill. I called another enterprise location to ask them if having a phone bill would count as utility and they confirmed that would be acceptable. I came back in and suddenly the head guy, was much more accepting and told me that a phone bill would be fine and to bring it in along with all the other items needed to rent a car, he was much nicer and even handed me card with an email so we could get the ball rolling once I sent all necessary information to get the rental. I had to get back to work because I was doing all of this on break. When I finally had time to get everything together to send an email with all the info I realized another mistake I had made was not switching over my ONE “utility” (aka phone bill) bill over to my new address. Which again falls on me and is the reason why I wasn’t able to use enterprise. Overall, this was incredibly frustrating situation that could have been prevented on my end in several ways, and I understand and see that. I wish there was better communication of the things that were needed when I called a week prior, instead of blankly stating that all I would be needing was a credit card. I felt helpless in the moment while I was there, and I felt embarrassed because I didn’t feel like I wasn’t an important enough of a customer because I didn’t have a credit card and didn’t have all the necessary things in the moment to move forward with renting a car. I felt discouraged to go back and ask to see if there was anything I could do to help remedy my situation. I think the staff are nice people, but I don’t think I’d be returning to this specific location again.
I would give this no stars if I could. I have been using this location for ten years and today experienced the worst customer service that I have ever experienced with Enterprise. I'm not sure if they have a new manager or what is going on but I can't believe that Enterprise would ever treat any customers like I was treated today. My car was totaled from a hit and run driver this week and my insurance covers a rental car with direct bill with Enterprise. After my insurance set up my reservation, they transferred me to the local branch to schedule a pickup. The phone was picked up and I was put on hold for 25 minutes. After hanging up and calling back, I'm told that I'm 8th on the list for pickup and that they probably won't get to me today. WHAT? My reservation is for today - do they have another option? After I'm told that they cannot do anything, the "manager" then checks my reservation to tell me that while they have cars, they don't have any that would be covered under their contract with my insurance. He doesn't even offer to give me one of the cars they do have available at the insurance rate. Why was my reservation made for this location then? Why didn't I receive a call telling me they didn't have anything available and couldn't do a pick up? This is absolutely ridiculous. After asking what I should do, I'm told I can call around to different locations to see what they have and try and switch my reservation. WHAT IS THE POINT OF EVEN HAVING A RESERVATION IF IT IS NOT HONORED??? Further, why have an overall call number if they make the customer do all of the leg work for their mistake and they don't even have the decency to call the customer to tell them what is going on? Enterprise used to be one of the best and only companies I would rent from because of their excellent customer service and I wanted to support a family run business that promoted from within. They have lost a life-long customer today because of this branch and its horrific customer service. The "not my problem" attitude to a mistake made by a company is the fastest way to lose customers. I'm sorely disappointed in what used to be an incredible company.
Booked the most expensive car the system let me book (Large SUV) for $250. On arrival, they gave a Nissan Armada which did not seem that comfortable for the 3rd row passengers. Being a regular customer, an Executive Emerald Member, and having an email from Enterprise that offered me a "Free Upgrade", I was hoping (and not expecting) a free upgrade. On request for UPGRADE to Suburban, they offered by a $15/day upgrade, which I first decided to forego, since I did not want to force my friends to split the upgrade decision. (It was a long weekend road trip) On request to DOWNGRADE to the Dodge Caravan mini van that was $213 online, they said I would be charge $10 "upgrade" fee for that too. What sort of sense is in that? I, then, requested them to keep the same $250 price at my current Full Size SUV price, if they can not honor the online lower price. Their response kept changing every minute - first they said my "booked" car was on the lot, so it would have been a waste. I responded that they can just "upgrade" one of the two minivan passengers. Then, they changed their excuse to not being able to change corporate bookings. I mentioned that this is a leisure rate, and that if you can "change" it to upgrade, you should be able to downgrade the price or just exchange the car keeping the same price. They basically just said "No" with no further explanation. I was running late and did not have much option. Instead of paying $213 for the minivan that I would have paid in the ideal normal sense world, I was sort of left with no choice but to pay $300 with the upgraded Suburban. Although JT was the representative (who was polite and courteous), it was Adam (surprisingly, the manager) who was unaccommodating and unreasonable. I am not sure what sort of targets is he trying to achieve, but with this sort of service, this branch is not going to get any of my business anymore. There is a Hertz less than 3 minutes away.
I don't leave a lot of reviews. And when I do I try to be helpful and make it beneficial. I rent from Enterprise all the time. Like I am in their highest tier in terms of rental. I travel a lot. I have gone months and months with rentals from Enterprise so I enjoy their company overall. This particular location I have had problems with off and on for the last 3 years. Customer service a bit rude. This morning I rented a car for a trip to Buffalo New York and back. The person helping me was rude. Stand offish and not very helpful. I needed a fullsize with good gas mileage. I had spoken to someone from that location 2 days ago and explained this and was told this was not a problem. When I got there I was told that all they had was a Dodge Challenger. When I brought up that would not work due to mileage and asked if they could downgrade me I was simply told no. When I asked if I could take a smaller SUV which I happen to know gets good mileage I was told no. When I asked if I could be helped out. I was told no. It went like this. I was asked if I wanted a toll road transponder. I asked how that worked. Was given curt answers again. I was asking to judge how much the cost difference would be on it. The communication came across as rude back to me. I even attempted to apologize if I was making this whole thing awkward as I was having a bad day. Nope. Still rude. If not worse. Finally some other gentleman working in the place gave me the keys to a Nissan Altima which has good gas mileage and I was on my way. Just rude this entire cycle of renting this car. I attempted twice to call and get the manager and was not able to get through on the phone. There are earlier issues I have run into with this same location. So I have decided that I will travel a bit further to a different location for my future rental needs (which are a lot). I sincerely hope they sort out their customer service at this location.
As a former Branch Manager of ERAC, I have been extremely dissatisfied with the level of customer service provided by the store on Sheffield Ave. We needed to rent a car because someone had totaled our car while it was parked on our street, and they fled the scene. Unfortunately, we did not have rental reimbursement on our policy, but our insurance was able to provide us with a discount. We contacted ERAC to reserve a car, only to be told - very rudely - that they are unable to take our reservation. They explained that they currently have a waitlist and that they'd be happy to put us on it. I asked if the waitlist included retail renters, and the answer was "yes," but they wouldn't agree to prioritize insurance renters. We found that to be erroneous, but okay. So, we asked them to include us on the waitlist. Five days later, still no call so we contacted the branch. This time, a lovely woman answered and was very sympathetic to our situation and very nice to work with. After a few minutes of searching for us on the waitlist, she couldn't find our reservation anywhere. We suspect that we were never included on the waitlist in the first place, as the first woman to help us out was extremely rude and not at all helpful. When we eventually got a rental, 8 days later, we entered the store and we were not even greeted. The manager, his employees, everyone stayed seated and no one even acknowledged us until a young man stepped out of the bathroom and noticed that we were waiting. I'll end with this - I will avoid renting from this branch, probably all of ERAC, like the plague. I called corporate, asking for a manager to contact me. Still no outreach. I am appalled by their horrible customer service and I only hope that this review initiates some sort of review in hopes that this issue is addressed immediately.
I had a better than usual car rental experience dealing with Enterprise this time around, compared to previous ones. First off, I think one of the main reasons was because this one is located in Lincoln Park. This area has a high concentration of professionals who rent cars frequently and expect a higher level of service and better cars, like SUV's and foreign-made cars, than other locations. I personally like Japanese cars like Toyota, Nissan or Honda, I don't like Fords. Although they didn't have any of my favorites on their small lot, Becca (my CSR) retrieved one (Nissan Sentra) from their other lot on Western and made sure it was clean (washed it herself!) and ready to go. I've used some of their other locations in the past and found this location much more efficient and customer service oriented and would definitely use them again. My only quibble about my experience was the car I rented. It was brand new and was fully automatic which meant I didn't know how half of the features worked. In the future I think it would be helpful if the rep (or on the online rental form) asked the customer first if they were familiar with the car they were renting and assuming they weren't give them a brief rundown on how it works! I found myself asking complete strangers on my trip how certain features worked because I literally had no idea and couldn't find it online. I even had to use Google to figure out how to save a station preset because I could not figure it out. It's been about 6 years since I last rented a car everything has changed....streaming music now instead of having a CD player. I know I'm not the only one who would appreciate this!
I don’t normally leave reviews, even when I have bad customer service, but my experience today was shockingly bad. I reserved a car 6 weeks prior to my trip and confirmed the reservation with the branch a day before pick up. The day of I was running behind and called the branch at the time of my reservation to let them know I would be about 30 minutes late. No one answered the phone after multiple calls, but I assumed nothing of it and proceeded to take an Uber to the branch. When I arrived I was informed that they had given away my reservation “because they didn’t know if I was still coming”, and did not have any replacement to offer me. There was no explanation given for why they didn’t attempt to contact me or answer their phone. They provided no assistance in booking a replacement rental with another branch in the city, and weren’t even apologetic about the situation. I had to cancel my trip because the only alternative was picking up a car at O’Hare for $600 for a 3 day trip (it would’ve been cheaper to fly). Absolutely horrible customer service, and I’ll never be booking with Enterprise at this branch again. I’m pretty sure they didn’t honor my reservation because they were able to charge someone else more, given I had a corporate discount, but who knows. Just don’t ever expect your reservation to mean a thing with this company.
Most car rental places in the city are either at the airport or downtown, so it feels like finding a diamond in the rough with this place. It's planted firmly in a neighborhood so it feels like they cater to customers like me - non-car owning city dwellers who need to get out of town for a weekend or so. Both when I picked up and returned my car they were fairly busy, so plan you schedule around having to wait a bit. I do wish they had a little better system of queueing - I sat down when I saw there was a line, but then people who came after didn't realize I was waiting for my turn and not just hanging out. The car I rented for a couple days was nothing special, but got us to the burbs and back and that's all I could really ask for. I put my return time as noon but returned it around 8am, and had no issues doing that. I will say I had left some sunglasses in the car, and they were nice enough to call me to let me know they had tagged it and put it in their lost and found. I walked back later that day and was able to pick them up. I really appreciated that, especially when I could tell they were super busy with morning returns (they had me park on a side street instead of their lot). I'm hoping this is a reflection of them being a neighborhood rental spot, and will definitely look to use them again as the holidays approach.
I have been a customer of Enterprise for over 20 years and have no complaints. I recently rented a car through my insurance agency and was charged forc12 extra days.during the time my car was being repaired I had brain surgery and was unable to drive and suffering from memory problems amongst other things. I managed to call the auto body shop ,and the insurance company ,but forgot about calling Enterprise directly. Hence the car seat idle for the duration of the extra days as can be observed from mileage, and my personal vehicle sat idle at the repair shop. I have spotless record with enterprise and never turned in a car late. All parties said the resolution was dependent on Enterprise since the compiled the invoice and received the payment. Spoke with several managers at the location and corporate and was told there was nothing ,they can do because,"they have to have their money whenever the car is out of the yard". I understand business but there are some non ordinary circumstances that perhaps could have been considered. I thought if not a refund of the extra idle days, at least a portion, a coupon on future business, etc. The reps were compassionate and understood, but the managers were more like pay me, and next. I was really surprised at amazed at their attitude more so than the lack of compassion.
This was my fifth or sixth rental from this location over several years and I have normally had very great experiences but my experience last week ruined all of that. When I got there, I was told that there would be a 20-30 minute wait for my reservation because there were no cars available and cars would need to be gathered from one of the other locations. I had made my reservation two months in advance and even received a confirmation call from the location two days before the rental to confirm the time that I would arrive. Fifteen minutes later, I was told that they could get me a lower sized car then I had reserved within the next 10-15 minutes or I could wait an hour to see if someone would be returning the car that I had reserved. Unfortunately, I was already against the clock for a five hour trip so I took the next available car which is not what I wanted for a long road trip). It was a very discouraging way to start a vacation, but I do want to commend the staff. Even though all of this was happening, they were nice, considerate and very helpful (so the three stars reflect that and my prior experiences) but I think despite convenience, I will stick to the bigger Enterprise locations that have the stock to avoid this in the future.
Enterprise at 2900 N Sheffield, Chicago went above and beyond to give you the best customer service even on a busy rental day at the branch. Best car rental location in Lincoln Park, their team have the ability to be part of the decision to choose your class class and rates if something you want is not available at that time. It brought convenience to the customer - you go to the branch, you get everything done there, no need to call their corporate office to do administrative work such as rebooking or billing questions if things don't go as planned. They also provide pickup & dropoff service between your home and the branch office. If they don't have an available driver, they will give you a credit on your rental rate for a cab/uber ride to and from the branch location. So convenient and it's a perfect management system! All the above you can't find at Hertz in Lincoln Park (Clark St branch), do not go there if you want a reliable service. Not worth your time, they have the worst customer service because staff are not trained, when they faced a difficult situation, they will tell you to call Hertz corporate. I've experienced it the last two times when I was there, it took so much time just to get one thing right with them.
Their check-in process needs to be updated - an option to provide information ahead of time to avoid a long check-in. I did take advantage of this option because I knew in the morning at 7:30 sharp, I had very limited time due to morning obligations, work, etc. I had to provide an auto insurance card and a utility bill. Both items are required when you’re using a debit card for the rental deposit. Note: bills cannot be past due more than a hundred dollars. It was a setback scrambling last minute through my phone - managing, grasping, searching for a bill, then to email it to the counter person. Luckily I locate a photo of my insurance card and bill on my phone. If I couldn’t have provided this information I would’ve been turned away and I would’ve lost a day of pay. I encourage them to expand their quick check in requirements prior to arrival. That’s fine if you need additional documentation… Just give people ample time to be proactive and provide for you what is required.. You can add to bring documentation with you for review at check in. But to ask at the counter last minute… Totally unacceptable and make the Customer’s experience frustrating, annoying, and discouraging.
A bunch of shady charges showed up on my card that were not explained to me beforehand. They were supposed to bill my insurance 25 dollars a day but only billed them 19 and pushed the rest of the charges to me. I was told on April 5 via phone call that I was supposed to drop the car off April 2 and they billed me directly for the extra days instead of my insurance. They had my email address and chose not to use that and give me phone calls instead which I missed because I am not in the habit of picking up strange numbers. All of this could have been avoided if they emailed me and communicated properly. Not to mention that they didn't have stock for 2 days when I was first in need of a rental car. They kept telling me to come back later and I showed up to the location physically (I had to take the bus twice) only for them to tell me they didn't have anything. Absolute trash company with shady practices and I would never have given them business if it weren't for my insurance company that funneled me toward them. Trash company with trash business practices.
Overall, I really like Enterprise Car Rental and this site/franchise is close to home, so convenient for me. My only complaint is that the specific car I rented was not there when I arrived. My rental was for noon; when I arrived (closer to 12:30), I was asked to wait @20-25 minutes for the car I'd ordered. It wasn't the specific model that I wanted as much as the size. I opted to take what was available which was a much larger SUV. (The car I'd ordered was a mid-size sedan), They gave me the SUV at the same price; it was practically brand new and had all the bells and whistles one could want. I was going on a highway trip so glad to have the larger vehicle. HOWEVER< it was not the size I wanted and when driving/parking in the city I found it very difficult to maneuver. Lesson: make sure the car you want is there before you arrive.
Terrible service for an over priced rental. Asked for a toll pass and it was invalid. This caused issues at the gate during my ride. I got stopped and the cars behind me were angry and beeping. Further, tolls are encouraging drivers to use toll passes for contact less purposes. So I can also argue it was a health hazard in addition to a time and price inconvenience. The only remedy for the issue was removing the pass from the price tag. No other effort to please the customer. Unfortunately I have to rent from Enterprise again next weekend because I'll be using my points, but even those are a rip off. I've been a customer for 2+ years with no point redemption's. I'll be redeeming my points this upcoming rental and all I'll get is 1 free day. 2+ years for 1 free day. What a steal. In the future, I'll look elsewhere for car rentals.
This location is always hit or miss for me. I continue to use it because of the convenience of the location, but the customer service is either AMAZING or I feel like I’m bothering them. Also, I had one vehicle break down on the highway, and another had a warning light come on during my trip. I wish it was a consistently good experience each time I went there, but it just hasn’t been...even when I called in to ask a simple question. I asked if they had an Jeep Wranglers and got a “No we don’t.” No follow up comment except goodbye. But I called another location and they said, “We don’t at the moment, but would be happy to get one for you if you let us know the dates you would like it.” That location is further away, but I’m more likely to use it in the future because of that customer service.
I'll tell ya what, good customer service is almost impossible to find in Chicago, but this place is outstanding. I've rented cars pretty regularly from this location over the last couple of years, and I've never had a bad experience with the folks that work here (I had a faulty toll pass here, but that's on me for trusting cheap technology). Everyone is very kind, even first thing in the morning, even late in the shift on a snow covered day. They always offer to park the car for me, and as a non Chicago native...that's awesome, because wow there's too many cars in this city. Over all, if you live around here and need a car, don't go anywhere else. All around great people who are always in a good mood, (which probably speaks to management quality as well). Thanks y'all!
The staff were courteous and helpful. My 2-star review is because on the website I was allowed to reserve a pickup truck. Upon arrival, I was told that this location doesn't have any pickup trucks, ever, and offered a cargo van instead. I was able to make it work, but not only was the gas mileage worse than a truck, but the entire experience was much more of a hassle than it would have been with a truck. Picking up furniture with odd dimensions from a craigslist seller 4 hrs away isn't something that one has to do often in life, but when it is necessary I hope to get at least the _type_ of vehicle I reserve, or maybe know that it was possible at some point.
They were very responsive when we dropped our car off at Gerber Collision and Glass for repairs. They informed me that they would arrive at Gerber in about 20 minutes due to the shortage of rental cars, but they arrived right on time and drove us back over to Enterprise to register for the rental car, which was very clean and well detailed . I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs a rental car, but I also advise you to make a reservation a at least a week or 2 in advance to make sure you're able to get a car and reserve even longer on advance if you're looking for a specific type of car. Thank you Enterprise for taking care of us so well.
These guys are my go to place to rent cars for work. I've never had a poor experience here no matter time of day rented or time of year. A few things to keep in mind: -They open early and are actually open on the weekend, huge perk! -They are very accommodating in finding you a car that meets your needs. -Be sure to get a toll tag if you are driving in Chicago. If you miss a toll they charge you $10 dollars for the missed toll + the cost of the toll. Note this is cheaper than Avis/Hertz, but just keep an eye out for it! -Returns are super easy and fast and they'll prioritize those with one person so nobody waits forever for a return. Good renting!
I am only describing my last experience with Enterprise at this shop. The staff is great, really really like them, but two days Christmas they did not have any cars. I had made a reservation 1,5 months in advance of that day. I had to wait about 2 hours for a car. And it was not the car that I had reserved. It was a nice SUV that I had to accept because I had to get on the road, but not he car I wanted. The amount I spend on gas with that large car was not anticipated in my budget and it ended up being costly. Preferably I would have taken the car of my choice, the smallest and cheapest. The staff is really really good and I do suggest this shop.
edit 11/30/2022: Been coming to this enterprise for close to 8 years. It's great. Everyone is super friendly and makes getting in and getting your car and out on the road as smooth/easy as possible. Edgar at that location was really professional and friendly, kudos to him and the crew. Very smooth experience. Got an upgrade for $10 more a day when I went to pickup my initial rental car. Friendly staff, very quick and easy. Car rental was in great condition and provided no issues. Be sure to ask for an IPASS if you plan on making a driving that will hit tolls. Our rental didn't include one, but they stated every rental should offer one!
I've rented cars from dozens of rental locations from various agencies and hands down, these guys are the best I've worked with. The staff is extremely well trained, super friendly and willing to go the extra mile to make you happy. The cars for the most part are rather new and if there ever was an issue, I was immediately offered a discount on my next rental. No questions asked. I frequently get upgraded to a higher class car than I rented (when available) with no extra charge and my car is usually available at the time I requested it. If you're looking to rent a car in the city, I can highly recommend this location of Enterprise!
While my local Lincoln Park Chicago team is great to work with, this last rental did not live up to the expectations or standards I am used to with Enterprise. The car I picked up had a warning light on. I called LO & only after connecting to roadside assistance, I was informed it could be 4 in the afternoon before getting a replacement car. The other option was to drive 90 min to the airport. So I drove, only to find out they 1. Didn’t know I was coming. 2 didn’t have a car. The airport team scrambled to clean a car. I had to stop 3 times on the drive home to put air in the tires. They sent me off in a car with a nail in the tire.
I live 3 blocks from this location and have rented cars from here on multiple occasions. I gave two stars because I had multiple great experiences, yet one horrific experience. Not going to get into too much detail but here is my advice to future renters: ALWAYS take pictures of the rental car before and after to make sure no "sketchy" false damage claims are made against you. Once the damage claim is made, they will redirect you to corporate office and will refuse to help or clarify the issue. Take my advice. Most of the employees here are fantastic and provide great customer service; a few who are absolutely no help whatsoever.
I scheduled a rental car a week in advance and when it was time to pick up the car, it wasn’t ready. The pick up time was actually to get put on a waiting list for a car to be returned and cleaned and I wasn’t given a time when a car would be available. So our wait time could have been anything from 30 minutes to who knows how long, plus there were 5 people ahead of me. I absolutely understand that with Covid things are different and going to be frustrating, but not having a car ready with a weeks notice is unacceptable. Because of this, my plans for the weekend we’re completely ruined. Very very disappointed with Enterprise.
I would give zero stars if it was possible. The company literally put our lives at risk by not checking the tire tread on the car before we took it on a 13 hour road trip. We watched the tire pressure drop on our drive and eventually had to take the car on 2 hour detour to a firestone tire shop where they replaced not one but 2 tires because the tires were in such horrible condition. The people at the firestones said it was the worst they had seen and were amazed that the car was rented to us. We called enterprise to complain and got $50 off a $4000 rental. I'm in their emerald club but would never rent from them again.
I go out of my way to rent cars from Enterprise. This past weekend I reserved an economy car. The Enterprise employee politely asked where I was headed. I told him I was picking up a large rug from the suburbs. He offered me a minivan instead of the economy car and, without me needing to ask, removed the back seats so i could fit the rug more easily. He also must have noticed I was watching the news on my phone as we wrapped up paperwork. When I got in the minivan, the radio was tuned to the local NPR station. They're always very nice and accommodating, and it's clear they have a customer-focused approach.
I will never use Enterprise again..I will say, there was nothing wrong with the car I had, that was the only good thing about the experience. From the start I had been lied to about this so called Corporate Acct that was set up for me. As a result I paid more for this car then ever in all my years of rentals, I'm done with them and will share this info with everyone. I also will say, this all started in Fl, Chicago branch just wouldn't refund my drop off fee which I was told was not to be charged, this was a total disappointing experience. Check out everyone before renting from anyone, lesson learned....
I have had one of the best experiences at Enterprise over the past two years at this location. Adam and the lady in pink made the transition from renting to return so smooth, it was unbelievable. This location has a lot of options and I got an Audi A8L 2017 for the weekend. They had cleaned and washed the car thoroughly and inspite if busy weekend rush, they were able to wash the car again upon request. It would have been awesome had they got an after hours drop off facility. But overall I am extremely happy and would recommend others to give this location a try as I had one good crazy experience in A8!
My wife and I were involved in two car accidents in two hours (fortunately, no one was hurt). We had to coordinate with the mechanic and the body shop to fix the damage. So the last thing I wanted to deal with was the car rental place. Enterprise on Sheffield made everything easy. The customer service was great, and they already had all my information from State Farm. The repairs took longer than expected, but I was only charged a minimal fee ($100 for two weeks). It is great having a car rental location in the neighborhood, and if I am in need of a vehicle again, I will definitely stop by.
I was just watching a speech given by Warren Buffet in which he talked about how Jack Taylor built the Enterprise business on the back of delivering better customer service than the competition. I have been using Enterprise Lincoln Park almost every week for four years now and I can say that the spirit of Jack Taylor is alive and well in that branch! From Max the GM, to all the agents, to Cal who washes and prepares the cars before renting, the service is really wonderful. It's not surprising that so many of the staff are quickly promoted to other branches. Please keep it up!
Nissan Sentra was nice and clean. However; Made me wait a whole hour on a very busy day to bring the car to the auto repair shop. Appointment was made days earlier for confirmed time of delivery. Insincere apology. Representative did not give me anything to sign nor tell me to return the car with gas back at level received. Drove 38 miles in a car that gets 31 mpg combined. Enterprise charged my CC $10.47 for 2 gallons of and said only corporate could fix. I emailed corporate and never heard back from them. However, they do want a review...so here it us. POOR EXPERIENCE.
Helpful staff and range of vehicles, though the vehicle I was given had tar stains on the windshield that was a bit distracting during driving. I was given the spiel about credit card insurance "not covering the vehicle" and reiterated that several times but neglected to offer me a toll way pass, which used to actually come standard in the rental. There are better Enterprise locations or this one might just have not been giving its best that day Edit: Enterprise refunded the toll fee for the misunderstanding. I greatly appreciate the customer service
The staff is great and extremely personable, only compliments regarding them. However the cars are disgusting. The first car they tried to rent me had huge stains on the back seats. The second car rattled so badly it sounded like it would fall apart at any second. The third car smelled of smoke and I could only drive it with the windows open. Their cars are horrible at this location. No excuse for the condition of their inventory as I experienced. They did give me a $10 discount on my rental but I would have rather had a smoke free car.
Customer service is horrible. They show no sympathy or understanding for customers with issues. I didn't know they required an in-state driver's license to pay the deposit until I was at their front desk ready to go on my trip, which had a strict schedule. They only accept deposit payments from someone with an in-state license and credit card in person, so I had to call family last minute, right then and there to get help. They offered no alternatives, could make no exceptions, and showed no compassion or empathy.
I have always had a good experience renting a car from this location. This most recent experience was the best yet. The car was brand new and a dream to drive. When I arrived back in town, it was on a Sunday when the north side of Chicago was closed down for a parade. Although I had to take a round about route to get to the rental location and the lot was full with cars being returned and picked up, Matt allowed me to return the car in the driveway, so that my exit was taken care of very swiftly and efficiently.
I have rented from Enterprise for years now. But in the last year or so, each experience gets worse than the previous one. Most recently, I reserved an intermediate size car and was given a compact. While the agents insisted that the car I was getting was an intermediate size vehicle, I had recently rented with Hertz and that same vehicle was categorized as a compact with them. Upon my return another agent gave me a discount for the error and my complain that the car had animal hair all over the seats.
Rented a SUV for Christmas Eve until the day after Christmas. This was a very busy day for car rentals and this location particularly. Although they did not have the SUV I put a reservation for about a month in advance, they were very professional and found a nice mini-van at another location and drove me to it. Upon returning the vehicle, the manager kindly offered me a considerable discount for the troubles even though I did not complain. Very nice staff and I will recommend them to others.
The covid checkin process went smoothly and I appreciated the outside line and numerous staff available to assist customers first thing in the morning. The only two things that could have been better were that the size car I wanted wasn't available so I had to take a vehicle much larger than what I'm used too. Second, was the car only had 1/4 tank of gas which I found unusual and an inconvenience that the first thing I had to do was go to the gas station before hitting the road.
DO NOT USE DURING COVID. I rented from this location during the covid crisis. The car I was given had not been cleaned, smelled like smoke and had fingerprints on the touch screens. I am confident it had not been sanitized. I did not feel that they were taking the pandemic seriously or that they were actively trying to protect their customers. I also called the enterprise corporate office twice and never received a call back or any offer for compensation for the experience.
Pathetic experience. We had prepaid for roadside assistance and yet did not receive any. I was stranded in front of another enterprise rental office, and yet no one helped me into a new car despite road side assistance diverting me to the very same rental office (yes, they had cars available). I ended up changing my rental car's tire on my own, right inside the enterprise rental office. Had to use the spare tire and drive back. The manager was rude and not helpful at all.
I've rented often from here for the past 3 years and have almost always had a good experience. Though it is sometimes crowded in the small lot (especially on Friday mornings), the employees are fast and efficient. My only bad experience was when I was accidentally billed for extra insurance, but a short phone call resolved the issue and I was charged correctly. Though I have moved further north, I hesitate to switch to another office because this office is so good.
Great customer service. They called us prior to our reservation time to remind us to allow extra time to get there since we were scheduled to pick up right at their closing time. When we arrived, they were BUSY, yet we were in and out in 5 minutes. We reserved a Ford Expedition or similar and received an Infiniti QX80. Beautiful, clean vehicle. Return was quick and easy as well. The only con - limited weekend hours. Will definitely rent here again!
I haven’t had a car for several years & used to live close to this location, so I rented from here frequently. I recently moved downtown, & I go out of my way to rent from this Enterprise, because even through staff changes over the years, the service & location have been great; smooth & convenient with very few exceptions. I really appreciate that renting a car here is generally a hassle free experience here vs the nightmare it can be elsewhere!
I've rented from this location a number of times and I'm always in and out in under 10 minutes even when they're busy. I've never heard "we don't have any cars in the class you reserved" like other places and they are clear and up-front about their policies with no high pressure up-sells. It's also in a very safe location and they've adjusted well to COVID-19 protocols. This is definitely my preferred place to rent a car when I have the option.
The staff was very helpful and friendly, especially Martina. She knew exactly how to get my rental paperwork completed quickly, and has a very positive attitude which was also a great help on a frustrating and rainy morning. The car itself was just right for my trip, and was very fuel efficient in addition, a bonus. Drop off was quick and efficient, and again a bright, positive employee who knew her stuff. Definitely will be renting here again.
It was chaotic attempting to pick up the car, but setting up the reservation was really easy. I did notice you need to be on time for the reservation otherwise they will deny you a vehicle. This all may had something to do with the holiday weekend. Overall it was a little costly in comparison to some other rental car places. Other than that my experience was good, no major issues, and I was able to rent and return the rental safely.
Outstanding service ALL THE TIME! They pick you up, they drop you off with a smile! Cars are always clean and ready to go. Anthony was wonderful! He knew I was stressed about my car and trying to get to work and he calmed me down, we laughed about life and he processed me through quickly and efficiently. All your "college grads" are a delight to encounter. They are excited about their careers and that's a testament to Enterprise.
Very poor customer service. They are inefficient and oblivious to customer satisfaction. They initially called me to explain that they could not honor my reservation because "I should book the car at an enterprise location that is close to where my car is being repaired" but subsequently changed the story to say they didn't have cars to provide though they issued a confirmation to my insurance company.very poor customer service
The customer service at this branch is great. Everyone was friendly, and they even gave me a ride on a Saturday even though they normally don't on the weekends. I used rewards points to pay for part of my vehicle, but when I wanted to use even more, they were unable to honor my request. Also, the car I rented was much dirtier than I expected a rental to be. They didn't have floor mats, and the carpet was nasty. Overall, a 3/5.
Very professional staff at Enterprise; they are a bunch of firecracker personalities that do make your day brighter when you come to rent your vehicle. Inventory is above sub par, haven't had any issues with any cars in possession. Staff goes out of their way to whisk me home after my rentals. I give them a certified A for their business sense and ability to go the extra mile to make customers happy...
Had car trouble so rented a car online from this location. Got there and were told they were sold out and weren't able to help other than that. They said "they tried calling" and there "might be one at the airport", 45 minutes away, but no email or other notice other then the email confirmation that I had the car. The inability to see live inventory and costing customers their time is terrible service
GREAT place to rent a car! Reasonably priced, good cars, and OUTSTANDING Customer Service! Max (Branch Manager @ 2900 N. Sheffield), Marcus (Manager), Nicolas (Manager), Derrick (Assistant Manager), and Gwen (Manager) are AWESOME, as well as the whole staff. They all are very knowledgeable, helpful, efficient, friendly, professional, and want to have happy customers. Thanks bunches! Highly Recommend.
As a Chicago local without a car, we are SO thankful to have Enterprise based in the heart of our neighborhood. They do so much, with little space and cars. Zoe helped me pick up my car and when the car smelled of smoke, she put me in another car (for a slight upcharge). Becca was the very kind manager. Everyone was friendly and they do a lot in such a crammed space. Thanks for being a good neighbor.
I'm editing my original post. I had to come back because of my insurance, and I'm glad that I did! I was originally given a car that was too big for me to drive, so they easily let me come back and exchange it. Then the next day there was an issue again and they switched me out and upgraded me! They were very friendly and both times very hassle free! I'm very impressed and will gladly come back here.
The people were really fast and transactional, and the vehicle didn't seem to get inspected very well. I received a car with low tire pressure that pulled to the left and had random warning lights going off the whole time. When I told the drop off person about it, I was just smiled at and told "okay, we will tell someone". I have never had this issue with a car at a competing renter.
We had a wonderful experience purchasing our 2018 Ford Fusion Hybrid. Our sales rep Michael and the sales manager Isaac were outstanding! They gave us a fair trade in and had the car ready on time taking care of all of our concerns. We love driving it and the great mileage we are getting. We highly recommend you check out the inventory of slightly used cars for your next purchase.
The location on Sheffield is the best car rental experience I've had. On average I rent several times and month and I am not exaggerating when I say I have NEVER had an issue. I see Becca and Brian quite often and they are always super friendly and helpful. I was with hertz for about 6 months before trying enterprise and I am always so upset with myself for not switching sooner.
I love the Sheffield location in Chicago, IL 60614. Everyone there is super helpful and kind. David & Jimmy ROCK! They are great guys who truly understand customer service. I had a question about my vehicle about 30 minutes after I picked it up and Jimmy walked me through what was going on and explained everything clearly. This is the only location I prefer to get cars from.
I waited for 90 minutes on the sidewalk after my scheduled pick up time until my SUV was ready. Associates did not seem to have any sense of urgency or any process to how things were being run throughout the busy day. I understand COVID and holidays complicate things, but there was no signage as to where to stand or even a hello from employees. The drop-off was easy though!
My experience of renting car from Enterprise in Lincoln Park was hassle free and Brian was very helpful when picking up and returning the car. My only issue was I did not have a choice of 2-3 cars to select from (but that I understand is based on availabilty and time of day).......I had to go with the one car that was available. But overall good experience and Thank you!
Needed a rental while my car was in the shop after an accident. The customer service here was more than I could have hoped for. Max was incredibly helpful and understanding, the car was well cleaned and sanitized, and they worked with me to make sure it was available as long as I needed it. I would recommend this location to anyone in need of a rental.
Convenient location for me. Picked up a rental on Sunday afternoon and they were pretty busy. The rental process seemed a little rushed because there were other people they needed to help. The agent just walked around the car and had me sign the form really fast. Exterior of car was dirty, but really not much of an issue for me. Good customer service.
I am a repeat customer. Portia, is the best. Always helpful & friendly. She’s smart and gets me checked out or checked in quickly. Portia’s a gem. The cars are always clean and ready to go. My entire experience has been stellar and I am grateful for the Enterprise team at 2900 N. Sheridan. Truly a pleasure to work with. Thanks, as always. Cody
Love the service at Enterprise, plus they allow spouse to drive for no extra fee. Rented recently from Lincoln Park location in Chicago and the service was over the top as well as the car. Drove my Altima 3,200 miles with no issues. Very nice car with upgraded interior and stereo system plus sunroof. Very affordable...would highly recommend.
Great Enterprise location. The staff is nice, the cars are clean and well maintained. No bad surprise during check-in or check-out. No hidden fees, no issue whatsoever. I am always very pleased to rent from this location. They are also open on Sunday, which is really very convenient. Thank you for sacrificing your Sundays for your customers.
I have used this location for renting cars multiple times. They always have a wonderful staff who do great work. I tend to reserve online then pick up and go, and every time I'm in and out in the car within a few minutes. Even when the office is busy they make sure everyone is taken care of quickly and efficiently with smiles on their faces!
Great location, cars and service. The only drawback is that weekend hours are very short and if you need a car for a weekend day you will have to return it next day. Which will likely add additional costs of finding overnight parking. However this is a common thing for most of rental locations outside airports. Still 5 stars for my opinion.
LOVE enterprise! I rent cars more than 10 times per year, and in the past have always used budget or hertz. I used enterprise once this spring and was absolutely blown away by the customer service, I have never even considered using another car rental company since! They are so friendly, professional, and easy to work with. Thank you!
Car was clean but the tank was on empty when we got in! Not cool. Lame excuse for the empty tank and no offer to compensate/reimburse me. *UPDATE*: emailed customer service several times and they kept saying management of the location would call me - took over a month of me emailing to get a phone call. Did not feel taken care of.
The location was easy to find, and check out was quick. The staff was friendly. The car they supplied met all my needs and was undamaged and clean. I returned the car early without issue when I was able to get back in to town ahead of schedule, and the check in process was similarly quick and painless.
The best! I do not live close to this location but because of the interactions my friends have had at this office, I decided to come here. Since I have came here, the staff has always been friendly, kind and thorough to make the pick up/drop off process easy! If I could give 10, I would give 10 stars.
The staff is friendly and very helpful. They even called a couple of days after I picked up the car just to see if everything was good and if there was anything else I needed. When I returned the car, they were so courteous. The whole process was smooth and quick. I would go back.
I have rented car from the Sheffield location twice in the past three weeks. Everyone there was very nice and helpful. I had a little problem and Chris tried to help me over the phone. When I returned the car they gave me a free upgrade for the following car rental a week later.
I LOVE the Staff at Your Sheffield/Chicago Location!!! Brian treats Me like "Part of The Family!!!" Always courteous respectful and Frank the newest Member made sure I was comfortable with the car that was selected. Looking forward to my next rental in the very new future!!!
Had a one way rental to Memphis with no problems and a good price. An adjustment was easily made at the end of the rental for an error made in the car category provided. I have rented and returned cars from this location several times without ever having any problems.
Can't say enough about the service here. Cars are always clean and employees are always friendly. I have been coming here for a few years and always get amazing treatment. Special shout out to George who is always accommodating and goes above and beyond to help me.
My experience with Enterprise was excellent. They took care of everything from beginning to end. They dropped off my rental for me to begin driving it, and they picked it up when I was finished. They were very good with communication, and made the process simple.
I rented from Enterprise on Sheridan. The staff was very friendly, the car and office were super clean and everything was easy! No problems whatsoever. Special shout-out to Trevor who was super friendly and helpful, even helped me carry all of my bags …
Friendly service, quick pickup and dropoff (even at super busy time). They didn't have the compact car I'd reserved so offered a free upgrade -- always nice. I've shopped around a lot, and they generally have the best rates when I've booked early enough.
Porsche and Sam were the bees knees. They were thorough in completing their duties and so pleasant while doing it. I have been renting from this location consistently for a year and a half and this was by far the best service I have receive to date!
This is the best enterprise out there. The staff is the best and they help take care of your needs. We all need a rental for whatever reason so great to find a place that gets you in and out with great service and no hassle. Huge selection of cars.
This location was busy but had excellent service. We had an issue with our reservation, and the team quickly managed to figure it out and get us on the road. Great service by Max. We’ll use this enterprise every time we need a car in the city now.
Zoe was such a pleasure to work with at the Lincoln Park location. She was patient, professional and engaged in ensuring the best experience. Zoe takes the time to get to know her clients and is the reason I would use enterprise again. Thank you!
Staff at N Sheffield location are very attentive to my needs and responded promptly to my inquiries. Very professional and accommodating staff. They have nice and clean rental cars. Fast and Easy transaction. I will use their service again!
A nice no-hassle rental experience. Car and facility were in good condition. Staff were friendly. Pick-up and return process was fairly quick. Employee was kind enough to refund my toll fee since I didn't end up driving through any tolls.
After reserving my car online, the pickup process was easy and the employees were helpful. No surprises on the final bill. Never had to go into the actual office as everything was processed outside because of Covid protocols.
I always go to Enterprise for my car rentals and they give excellent serviceans are very knowledgeable. Shout out to Tom and Frank from the Chicago IL office in. Lakeview, they were super helpful!
Take pictures of your gas tank before and after. They will charge you for “refueling” even if you return it full. I filled up and drove less than a mile and they said I was short by 3/16th.
I have frequented this location several times in the past several months and the staff and service are great. Very reachable by phone and the process of obtaining a car is always smooth!
Service was great, reservation took less than 10 minutes and they picked me up at the repair center. The vehicle was clean and new and rep walked me through the contract and coverage
Free upgrade to a Jeep, Compass was more than I had ever expected. Max, came and picked me up. He was friendly and professional. The rental went smoothly. 5 stars service!!!
Ken was very helpful and friendly in helping me with my rental car. I've been to this location twice, and it's always been very easy to pick up and drop off rental car.
Becky and Stephon assisted me with my pickup and dropoff. Both communicated clearly, gave me fast and efficient service. This location/company is always my go to.
Love the staff they took good care of my wife. The car was clean in and out she feelt welcome at pick up and at drop off. Fast serves will go and rent again
Shelby Kindi was very helpful and very informative she resolved all my issues and did a great job thank you Shelby fir all your assistance and gratitude.
They are alwasy quick and friendly at this Enterprise! It's always an easy in and out, even though they have so many cars flowing through a small space!
They ignore residential parking rules and park their entire fleet in permit parking. Have been doing this for over a year with no regard for residents.
You will never get a car you want. The standard answer will be "Nothing is available. Call later." Next time same answer and then again.
