    "My sister hired a car from here ,upon picking up the vehicle they took a pre auth bond of 400 dollars plus the amount that was due for the time the car hire was which was for 2 weeks so I decided to extend the duration of the car hire by one more week ended being 3 week when I called to extend it this lady told me the amount will just come off the bond which is fine Nd the remainder will be returned once I returned the vehicle which is correct , when i called back on the end of 3 week I wanted the car for few more days this time it was another receptionist at she said thar I had to make a payment over the phone for the vehicle which I did she also told me that the bond will get released into your acc after 7 days of picking up the car this is odd as why would they return the bond if you haven’t returned the car, which iv had for like 3 weeks now so I got confused and I called her and she said it refunds back into your acc and it disappears I told her why would you return the bond when we have the vehicle so I got concerned I called my bank and they said there no transaction or refund of the amount in your account or anything returns , I called her back numerous times to which she said it returns back into your acc then disappears this is the dumbest thing I have heard and the Bank said they will also provide evidence too, I called the customer relations number HEAD OFFICE I will be escalating this further to which they also said •THEY WOULD NEVER RETURN A BOND IF THE VEHCILE ISNT RETURNED"

Would have preferred to leave no stars at all. By far the worst experience of hiring a car. Our insurance company organised a hire car for a month for us. I specifically asked if my son who was on a P plate was allowed to drive the hire vehicle. I was told by our insurance that they had an agreement in place with Europcar and that as long as my son was over the age of 17 with a valid licence that he could drive the car. I arrived at Europcar Clayton at 8.45am. As there was another customer being served I was seen to at approx 9.10am. My appointment time was 9am. The person serving me asked me if i would like to upgrade, pay extra insurance etc.. and asked me for my credit card deposit. All was ok, until I asked if i needed to nominate any other drivers, to which i was told you can give your car to anyone you would like as long as they have a "full license". I told by the person serving us that i need my son to be able to drive the car and that he was 20 with a Green "P" Plate. He proceeded to raise his voice and say that he needed to have a full license and then told me if i dont want the car that i could leave the car and that i should leave the store. I asked him again to confirm if my son was ok, this time he said ok and i asked him to put that in our records. I also asked him to call the insurance to confirm. He refused to do this and said it was my problem. So i rang the insurance company, at this time i asked him to please serve the next customer. The insurance company again confirmed to me that it was ok for my son to drive and said that they would call him to find out if there was a problem. While I was on the phone, the phone in the office rang 3 times and was ignored even though there were no customers. When the lady from the insurance came online to say that she had tried to call without an answer, I put my phone on speaker phone and went to the counter. I asked the person who was serving me to please speak with the insurance company, after refusing to do so, the insurance lady asked him "to not be rude" and asked if there was a problem. This time he said no problem, his son can drive the car. The Europcar agent proceeded with my paperwork, as he was explaining the t&c's the phone rang. He stopped serving me and kept me waiting while he took the phone call. I signed the documents, went outside to the car. He took photos, started the engine took another photo of the odometer and walked back into the building. I then had to ask someone else to see if I could actually take the car. Never have I encountered someone as rude. Never deal with this dealership again.

We rented a vehicle for one day and upon returning to Europcar on Friday, Janet (reception staff) said there was a problem was unable to give us a receipt. We asked for a copy of the receipt to be emailed. Funny thing she sent me an email on the day of the loyalty program but funny enough she couldn’t email me or print a receipt. Waited until Saturday morning still no email so we called and spoke to Janet again for SECOND TIME, she said she would email it. Waited until Sunday morning still no receipt emailed so we called and spoke to Janet for the THIRD time!!! It’s now Sunday arvo and they are closed, yet still no receipt. UNPROFESSIONAL BUSINESS! Beware!! We will lodge a complaint with our bank on MONDAY regarding this business. Luckily we had taken a photo of Janet’s computer screen on the day as proof of total charge for the hire. We’ve never had a problem with Europcar in Preston or Blackburn. This place is too much trouble BEWARE! UPDATE 23/11: I hired a truck from Preston 4 days after my experience with Europcar Clayton. SURPRISINGLY my deposit holding from Preston has already been released, however the $489.85 holding deposit I had with Europcar Clayton since 14th November has not been released although they had already charged my account with an additional $89.85 for the rental. I contacted my bank and was told Europcar Clayton choose NOT RELEASE MY HOLDING DEPOSIT OF $489.85 !!! Since my bank can see that they had already charged me the $89.85 for rental cost. It’s UNBELIEVABLE because I rented the truck at Preston 4 days after my Europcar Clayton. And everything has been smooth, transparent with Europcar Preston. The team at Europcar Clayton is the most lousy lazy and incompetent!! AVOID EUROPCAR CLAYTON UNLESS YOU WANT TROUBLE WITH EVERYTHING! These guys definitely won’t disappoint when it comes to making sure you have the worst experience and everything is completely wrong in every possible way!!

False and misleading conduct/advice. I paid an extra insurance option to protect me if I needed roadside assistance. I asked staff at the Clayton office if this would cover me for any roadside issues caused by me - they assured me it would. This was not the case, when I required roadside assistance when stuck on a gravel driveway (rental truck) I thought I would be covered, but was not. Their contractual terms are vague when you read them - e.g 'if you leave lights on, or lock keys in the car' etc, but when you are verbally assured by Europcar staff that the insurance option will cover you and it doesn't this amounts to false and misleading practice. I have lodged a complaint with the Victorian Consumer Affairs. I have rented from Europcar Clayton on various occasions in the past and when I asked (Europcar) about their view toward regular customers I was told management had reviewed my case and could not help. In short, though their rates look good, go elsewhere, as there is a reason they offer cheaper rates!

Was forced to use this place for an insurance claim and it has been by far the worst experience with a car rental company in my life. They actually stole over $3600 from my card without any authorisation and then after I complained did not even bother to follow up and contact me. Luckily I saw the charges and was onto it but I have still not received my money or an apology or any proof that the money will be returned. I am absolutely horrified at the behaviour of this company and will never deal with them again. And if you’re thinking of renting a car from them, and giving them your card details, don’t! They take thousands of dollars of your money without asking and by reading other reviews (after the fact) this is not an isolated incident.

If I was able to give a rating of zero for the customer service this would be it. There was no customer experience as upon returning their car washed and clean, keeping in mind I returned it in a better condition they loaned it to me. Yes, I got a free upgrade which was nice. But only as they werent able to provide a like for like car and was'nt able to provide it at the repairers. I would think as courtesy to call a cab to take me back to repair shop wasn'nt to much to ask as returned it to them wihout needing to at the Eurocar rental address raher leaving at the repai shop for their collectionin my right. As for the excuse that there is only one person running a well known company. I wouldnt recommend anyone hire through this company.

If I could give you zero stars I absolutely would. We booked our car hire months ago and today (10 days out from our Christmas hire) you told My husband that you had gone and just cancelled the booking without telling us( he called you to follow up) you then told us you did in fact have a 7 seater car but you wouldn’t match the price of our original booking, you wanted more for it! What type of business are you running here!? Disgusting and disgraceful. Will ensure we recommend you to no one and I hope this review helps Another family avoid this kind of drama for a car hire at Christmas that we are now facing.

BE WARNED the online booking system lets you choose and book a vehicle short notice, but they will just take your personal information and card details you enter on the website and run, there is no guarantee the vehicle is available - terrible terrible practice. Office staff were very unhelpful and made little to no effort to assist in finding a suitable vehicle. Customer service was also very unhelpful and did nothing to rectify the situation or compensate for the horrible system. I had to personally fund a taxi to leave the premesis as I wasn't able to get the rental I needed.

Requested extension of rental which was agreed. Then they call asking where car is and overdue. Explained it had been extended and Odo pic sent, then promised a switch back to another vehicle as rental extended. When we deliver vehicle - told no car available. Insurance company recorded call where they'd promised a car would be. Not only incompetent, but liars then deny the recording - it's a recording! Genuinely should not be in business avoid at all costs. Disgraceful lying rude unprofessional cheats.

i had a great experience with the staff there. both satty and steve were very kind and attentive to me despite serving rude and angry customers who were unhappy with their insurance getting their anger out on them. i think people forget these people are doing their job and decisions are made by their insurance company based on a cheap rate they have chosen. despite this, people working there were polite and professional. noticing my pregnancy, they helped me with extra perks and care. thank you team!

I needed a dual cab Ute immediately, so I tried europcar after several others, which were useless! I wasted 6 hours after Budget dandenong wasted my time post booking. Walked into europcar Clayton instantly greeted by Ian who was was prompt, friendly and so helpful, he gave me exactly what I needed! If I ever need a car rental in the future, I will use europcar Clayton and look no further. Prices are highly competitive and the vehicle was a dream all 'round. THANKS IAN YOU SAVED MY DAY!

Unbelievably hopeless. Gentleman was rude with terrible customer service straight away. Had insurance book a like for like car (a small hatch back) and drove away in a 7 seater 4WD. When asked if there was anything smaller available, the gentlemen replied ‘do you see anything smaller’ in an ever so condescending manner. Called Europcar customer service for an explanation and they advised we’ve been given the wrong car in the first place. Don’t waste your time here.

Not really helpful bcuz when I was dropping my car back even I dropped it ten days before the end of lease not asking for refund at all however they did not even give me lift back to my car repair but on other my car repairs not only did a great job beside when I drop my car to them than they actually gave me a lift to Clayton to pick up my rental car So not helpful! So that shows Europcar Clayton doesn’t care much about customers

Friendly and helpful staff. They know what they are doing. They explained all expenses to be charged on my card before making the payment. We asked for a light sedan, but it was not available. They provided us a large sedan at no extra cost. We rented the car for 24 hours, but returned it a little later. We did inform them about late arrival in advance. Overall, service received was pleasant and i may use them again if required.

After reading some bad reviews I was scared about using the hire car that provided by my insurance from this place, but at the end it was much better than what I thought, I returned the car without any problem and got the bound back in my account in a few days, the car that I've got was very clean with no problem at all... 5 star to Jannet who was professional and friendly.

Booking was made the day before required for insurance repairs. I was greeted politely by staff and notified the booking was upgraded as I am 6’3” and the current vehicle was not suitable. Stephan handled the process in a timely and correct manner. Not to mention his suggestion that the vehicle type could be upgraded. Thanks Europcar Clayton for a pleasant experience.

Disgraceful business. I booked KIA STONIC online . When I went to pick up, the staff arranged KIA RIO for me which should be $50 dollars lower than STONIC and told me it was the similar range with STONIC - small SUV and save more petrol. And still charge me the same price. Luckily, I found out the trick. If you go to Europcar Clayton. Be careful!!

Excellent car, perfect service, Brendon is a pro, knows his cars and is a customer service and IT multitasking magician. Great at banter, explained all T&C's in detail, as I didn't know much about hire car contracts, But he was clear, concise and very patient. Brendon is a star, wonderful ambassador for Europcar brand.

Way too interested in trying to upsell insurance and ensure that they have to do no work when the car is returned so we're at pains to tell me to vacuum it eccetera if it got a little too dirty. Problem was, car had tissues jammed btw front seat and wrappers in cupholders. At least tissues were clean.

Avoid them! They WILL attempt to take a double payment, claiming that you kept the car longer. Our attempt to follow this up (which had to be OTC, because they do NOT answer the phone or the email) was greeted by them helping themselves to ANOTHER double-payment. Currently seeking legal advice.

Completely untrustworthy. I returned the vehicle with a full tank, and they then refused to refund all my deposit, claiming the tank was not full. Credit card rewards points NEVER credited to my nominated airline account. Run a mile from these guys
