If I could this place zero stars I would. Be prepared to be flooded with phone calls and emails when you don't have automatic payment set up. I've been with this storage facility for about two years. I've never had a problem, that's until I stopped the automatic payments. They call you numerous times before the payment is due, one day after if you're late, and numerous times after. I admit I was late (that's how I found out lol). My payment is due on the 12th of every month. But look at the pictures I submitted. This is harassment. I've gone as far as to block all phone calls. I do understand the terms and conditions. If I'm late a late fee is added, access to my storage is denied and I'm at risk if my belongings being auctioned and sold. But stop with the phone calls. I'd prefer email only. Hell I don't need a constant nagging reminder. There also is an African American woman who works there that is extremely rude. I try to avoid her. She is that one person who will make you hate going somewhere because you know she will be there. I'm one step away from closing out this storage unit because of her.

I was unfortunately assigned a corner storage unit on the top floor. As it was a corner unit, two walls of my units were the actual brick walls of the building as opposed to the metal screens that divide the units. This was unfortunate because those brick walls were really quite dirty. There was white, chalky material all over the walls that got onto all my stuff. Even aside from that, the unit itself felt a bit grimy, relatively dusty and dirty on the floor. I stored my mattress in there between apartment leases, and it had plenty of new stains on it when I took it out. All my other furniture else needed a good wipe down after too. Additionally, even though the website advertises climate control, being on the top floor where heat rises to, it was quite hot up there during the summer. None of my stuff needed to be kept cool, so the worst consequence for us was just discomfort moving things in and out of the unit in the heat. But be warned if your items need to be stored in a place with proper climate control.

This company is one of the most professional companies and group of employees that I have ever worked with. Hands down! I’ve had nothing short of an awesome experience with them! I needed a quick and easy way to store my things when leaving my college dorm, LAST MINUTE! Nothing less than pure politeness on the phone and in person, very understanding, professional and the reminders of payments along with the easy payment methods is enough, alone, to make me come back! I can’t even thank this company enough for the amazingly and conveniently reasonable prices, especially during the pressing time in which I needed the storage! I will definitely be back and I highly recommend this company, whichever location! Try this company out, you won’t be sorry!

You need storage? Looking around the city, not sure what to do, where to go, how much to pay? STOP looking and just make the decision to go to Extra. If you can, swing by to see Rakeya, not only will she help you rent a storage locker, she'll also brighten your day. I stopped by the West Loop location and was lucky enough to have her sitting behind the desk when I walked in (her normal store location is on Harrison). Not only was she incredibly knowledgeable about all of the ins and out of the storage process, paperwork, lease, etc, she's a 10/10 on the friendly scale and was extremely polite and legit fun to chat with! The facility was also super clean, perfect temp and very secure. 10/10 for Rakeya and Extra!

It's always clean and easily accessible via public transit. The employees are friendly and very helpful. My one complaint would be that the smaller units are on the second floor, which is only accessible via a single staircase, so if you have a handicap or heavy items, that is something to be aware of. It's also worth noting that the smaller units are also stacked one on top of the other in pairs of two, so if you have an upper unit, it can be somewhat difficult to reach the back of the unit unless you are light and have enough upper body strength to scrumble inside.

On the afternoon of March 3rd, we visited the 1242 W Washington facility and had a pleasure of working with Sergio Macias. He is the Assistant Manager at this location and I can tell he is very passionate about his job, very knowledgeable, servicing the facility well, and most importantly providing excellent customer service. Me and my wife had a lot of inquiries and he was able to explained and respond in detail all of our questions. We appreciate his professionalism, enthusiasm, and hard work. It made the whole transaction quite easy. Thanks for what you do Sergio!

This storage facility is very clean. It’s easily accessible despite being in the middle of the city. The management/ staff are professional and responsive. I’d highly recommend. Just be aware that monthly rates can increase significantly. We had our unit for two years since mid 2020 and the rate tripled. A lot of costs have increased during the pandemic, so I still wouldn’t rate lower than five stars, but it’s something I would want to know if I were considering renting here.

Sergio's exceptional service, coupled with the outstanding quality of the storage space makes this one of the best storage locations I’ve had to deal with. The storage unit facility itself is organized and well-managed. The cleanliness and tidiness of the premises are a testament to Sergio's dedication and commitment to maintaining a high standard. Amazing service here! Armando who took care of me went above and beyond. He was very knowledgeable about my questions and concerns and to help me go up the stairs and carry my stuff to my unit. He was very friendly and honest about the terms/conditions and prices. The facility is very clean and well organized. They are also very trust worthy. I definitely recommend their customer service at this location facility.

By far the best storage facility I’ve been to. As a medical device rep we use our unit to store all types of medical equipment as well as get all of our restock inventory shipped here. The front desk staff are super friendly and organized and always have our packages staged for pick up whenever we drop by. The unit is super secure but also very easy to get in and out of in a timely manner. Would highly recommend!

I just signed up to use a storage unit and it was a very easy and seamless process...especially working with Letty, who was super friendly and answered all of my dumb questions! They also have a great online portal to see your payment history and such.

David the store manager was extremely professional and patient. He took time to explain everything it me even told me about prepaying my unit up to 48 months. David will be the reason I recommend Extra Space Storage to family and friends.
