Really needs new ownership and management. Relatively disappointing more than not. I've purchased a potato, only to get home and have the entire thing rotted through. Like, a shell of a potato containing pure rot. I brought up a frozen item, then noticed the shrink wrap was torn apart. I said I'd grab another one, then the man behind the counter started taping the bottom of the box. I passed on replacing that item given they have a practice of taping opened food and trying to sell to others without customers noticing. Today I purchased a case of La Croix. Upon leaving, it immediately fell apart in the ajacent parking lot, leaving my foot soaked. I returned to the store and was provided a couple Barbie sized plastic bags to carry the remaining cans home. They were out of normal shopping bags. I've even been asked if I want my coin change back when paying with cash. Just give me my change! I'm paying too much for this stuff anyway. If you have the ability, going to the Holiday Station by Target Field would probably be a better experience.
Crazy expired food, particularly lunch meat. I feel bad posting a negative review for a small place, and I debated just telling the store owner rather than posting online, but it's clearly intentional negligence. Look at the ham in my picture. I only even looked at it because it looked so awful. No way he or any other employee didn't notice this for months even if you're not actively checking for expired product. This meat would have to be a health issue. 1.) Ham expired by 2.5 months. The "better looking" ham behind it is expired by one month. 2.) some other lunch meats are expired by weeks to a month. 3.) this turned into a game. We found a bottle of sauce that expired 7 months ago. Sauces usually have a pretty long expiration date. 4.) I'm sure it's how it works for a little store like this, but the meats and cheeses were straight up bought at Aldi and are being resold here. I've never seen Aldis branding of stuff resold elsewhere, so I don't think it's a distributor.
I have no idea what happened to this place? If you would of asked me two years ago I would say this place rocked... but now they are o the rocks. They don't stock anything (they didn't have a run-of-the-mill diet coke). All the lights in the frozen area are off, the products are all sub-par cheap quality. One equivalent store was in the vicinity but left- I figured that metro market would step in and pick up the slack, but all they did was become crappy. Go there expecting to find empty boxes of snickers, empty light-less frozen shelves of diet coke etc... or for a generic red book. Don't go there looking for a deal. What an opportunity lost.
Was there last night for my first visit just at closing time and only one staff/store personnel was in the midst of making the close-up preparations. Without being rude he immediately let me know that the store was about to close, but was patient with me while I explored, and was reasonably friendly as I checked out. Very convenient to my hotel. I thought the prices were fair and noticed a fairly nice selection of food items. Will be back tonight.
I understand this is a convenience store but the prices are really getting out of hand. You won’t find one price tag in the store so you don’t know what you’re paying until you get to the register, which feels kind of shady. It’s a shame because the owner/employees seem like nice guys. The store does have a good selection so I’m giving an extra star for that.
Wow talk about robbing me without a gun I bought a few vitamin waters, and each was priced 3 dollars a piece when a vitamin water is supposed to cost 1.29 a piece but hey I guess that is how the owner can offered his Mercedes, and maybach he parks outside the store people in the neighborhood please please do not shop here and support this smug owner.
Prices are convenience store pricing, but for the North Loop that still makes it the cheapest lunch option. I’m not sure what experience the person had with their staff to make them say they were rude; I go several times a week to grab a snack or a quick and easy lunch. I’ve only experience positive employees.
A nice place to have in the neighborhood for picking up that quick grocery item. A pretty good selection of products and pricing that is not so high considering I don't have to get in car and drive to a grocery store. Clean space and friendly staff. The fresh food selection is getting better as well.
Do not waste your money at this store. The items are not labeled with prices and are terribly overpriced. I just paid $8.49 for canola oil that should’ve cost $3.99. I also bought cookie dough that turned out to be expired. The store has a broad selection but I will not be returning.
Love this place! They have a lot more stuff than you would expect, if I ever forget anything I need for dinner I pop over. I lost my airpod in there yesterday and the very kind employee went far out of his way to help me find it! The staff is always so kind.
I love this little market! They have a little of everything. I've gone there Ina pinch hoping they would have something so I didn't have to go to the grocery store....and 9 times out of ten they had it! Also, the staff is so kind and friendly!!!
THIS IS RIDICULOUS ! How do you have expired items FROM 2022!? Everything is over priced and not FIFO correctly. I will not spend dime here every again. I will say “Egg On The Roll” DEFINITELY RECOMMEND 5 stars. Delicious and great staff.
Great place & great prices. The store has almost everything and the owner is a true gentleman. I’d highly recommend this place and all the negative comments clearly don’t understand you pay for the convenience. A truly great store!
New owner takes advantage of the Neighbors price gouging ($8 for a bag of Doritos?!) He is proud show off his Mercedes’ and Maybach in front of the store though: he also closes around 830-9 on weekends missing a lot of business
Extremely rude and ignorant staff with limited assortment of overpriced items. I would suggest not to waste your time and $$$ but rather just drive to Target/Whole Foods a few blocks away.
Our favorite neighborhood Bodega! Super friendly. Reasonable prices. Great selection. Go to stop for last minute parties with cheese, meats, limes, lemons, mixers, ice, etc..
Standard convenience store pricing model. Less sales than a chain like Holiday, but location is solid and decent enough hours for people with a normal sleeping schedule.
Terrible prices, and the owner parks his obnoxious car out front. He makes people feel uncomfortable in there, and asked my girlfriend to “sing something for him” Yuck
I went here to buy a bottle of caffein free Coca Cola while I was pregnant. Cashier man scolded me in front of other shoppers for buying such thing during pregnancy.
Went to this establishment at 10:30 on Saturday night 11/24, and they were closed, even though the sign and website said they close at 11pm.
The people at 5th avenue market are wonderful! You can find everything from dish detergent to nice cheeses and frozen pizza!
This place is clearly overpriced. Man it's convenient for Northloop, but a mere loaf of bread will run you bankrupt.
Just paid $8 for a bag of doritos. Nice owners but they are thief’s!! Will never come back unless it‘a an emergency
This is a real plus for our neighborhood! Very friendly staff and surprisingly good variety for a small store.
Horribly overpriced and lots of items I looked at were expired by months! Be careful! Horrible store!!!
Such a great store with an amazing owner! Officially my new go to place in the neighborhood.
The prices are very inflated I paid 4 dollars for a coffee that is very expensive.
Some of the kindest folks in the city. I feel grateful to have this place nearby.
Friendly staff and lots of products to choose from. Great chocolate selection!
Convenient locatation is a huge plus. Friendly staff. Two thumbs up!
Great service, and owner is very friendly, RECOMMENDED FOR EVERYONE
Clean, organised place with friendly and lovely staff …

They sells expired baked goods. Store owner is extremely rude.
Good service, prices and products always great, friendly staff
Cute little store with a nice selection. Owner was very kind.
