I made my first visit to Foundry Provisions on a weekday afternoon in July (Wednesday, July 26, to be exact). It was a disappointment. The coffee shop was mostly empty with only 3 other customers hanging out with their laptops. The "barista" was very young and not particularly welcoming. She was making a sandwich or something at the food prep area and came over to take my order after a few minutes. She wasn't wearing any gloves to handle the food when she came over to take my order. Hopefully Foundry Provisions isn't sloppy when it comes to proper food handling, etc. My experience definitely doesn't make me want to order from the food menu. I asked the "barista" some pointed questions about the coffee menu and the food items, but she wasn't particularly articulate or knowledgeable about the menu and couldn't really describe the qualities of the beans used for drip or the espresso drinks. As far as pastries, there wasn't much to chose from and nothing looked especially appetizing. I ordered a bottomless cup of coffee and a blueberry muffin. The total with tip was $9.35, a bit steep for the Indy area (to give you a comparison, the lunch buffet at India Palace is less expensive). I just came from San Francisco and Chicago and had MUCH better coffee shop experiences for the same price. I asked the barista to warm up the muffin. It came out a few minutes later, mostly cold. I stayed around for an hour or so to use the wi-fi. Not planning on making a return trip to Foundry Provisions. The coffee shop/cafe desperately needs more training and more quality control.
short version: I would recommend their coffee to anyone who has all day to wait around, but definitely eat your meal elsewhere. Long version: My partner and I wanted to support a cute local business while enjoying a nice lunch outside with our pup. We got almost all of those things at this establishment. Wonderful coffee (some of the best I have had) was not enough to redeem the nonexistent service we received. We waited for our food and drinks at the near empty restaurant for quite a while, and when we went inside to ask about the wait we were met with blank stares. Two staff members looked us in the eyes and then went back to their conversation, after about 5 minutes of standing in front of the counter with no acknowledgment from the staff we sat back down at our outdoor table. When we went inside again (about 15 minutes after the first interaction) to ask for our food to-go (at this point we just wanted to go home), we were met with mediocre food. A soggy sandwich dripping mayonnaise and a few pieces of turkey... I would recommend their coffee to anyone who has all day to wait around, but definitely eat your meal elsewhere.
The food/coffee are usually really good and the location is great, but the service is too often very lacking and feels unconcerned about their customers. If you go, make sure you have plenty of time and patience. Today for instance, I waited 25 minutes for my lunch (which is common at Foundry, even when it's not busy) to find out it was forgotten had not been made at all (unfortunately also common at Foundry). The employees were all in the back; the only one who came up to try to help may be new because I've not seen her before today. The other two on shift at lunch are there often/have worked there for a considerable length of time; they delivered the same kind of experience I've unfortunately come to expect from them. A few of the employees I've been helped by in the past are standout exceptions, but most of them that I encounter on frequent visits treat you like a very low priority/interruption. This is a small shop so I don't expect the fast service but feeling like you're valued as a customer at all is always nice.
This is a funky, little coffee shop on the north side of downtown. They typically serve 3 kinds of drip coffee, espresso, as well as a pour over option. For customers staying in, they have free wifi and free refills on drip coffee. Coffee options rotate from local roasters which is a great way to try a variety of roasts from several locations. Whole beans are also available if you find something you like. Tinker Coffee Co was available during my last visit. Those guys have a GREAT spot just down the street so check them out too. Food includes pastries, soups, and sammies. Everyone I have dined with has greatly enjoyed the sandwiches. I have only ever had a pastry which came from City Sweets, another awesome local gem. It can be a little busy at lunch but if the weather is nice, sit outside and enjoy some sun on their patio. Parking can be challenging at times as they really don't have a lot but street parking is available all around so keep an eye open for that. This spot is definitely worth a try.
I'm using a single data point to come to this conclusion, but the Foundry is weak in the food game. Not only did my breakfast sandwich take far too long to make on a slow Sunday morning, it was also pretty funky. I went with the Daily Hot Breakfast Press. Here are my thoughts. 1. The hard boiled eggs (which I think we can all agree are weird to begin with on a sandwich) are pretty sulfury. 2. Perhaps due to the urban sprawl of the sriracha and sulfur eggs, the bacon has taken up residence on a single corner of the sandwich, thus resulting in a very uneven eating experience. 3. And finally, for $6.50, I could have instead bought 2.96 boxes of Swiss Rolls. All of this is to say that the food is pretty disappointing. Fortunately their coffee and atmosphere make up for it in a big way, and I would stack up a cup of their standard drip against most other coffee houses in the city. They even offer a special roast that's only available on the weekends.
Update - I've been coming here for years - since around 2012. The quality is still the same as it was back then. I haven't had one of their "press" sandwiches in a while, but they look just as tasty as ever. Grab a "Yule Log" here. It's not on the menu but tastes like Christmas. Trust me. You should treat yourself! (Any barista who knows where the "list" of strange drinks is can find what goes into it. Ava made it up when she worked there). They used to carry those vegan brownies from Bloomington with the bunny on the front, too. They went well with anything coffee-related.

I really wanted to like this place. I was a regular for months, but the poor service, low quality products, and atmosphere just got to me. Several times I've had my order completely forgotten, or they served several other customers before serving me. I've also received really poorly made iced chai on a few occasions, and the sandwiches and such are underwhelming and overpriced. I don't know what they're cooking in there sometimes, but it makes the environment unpleasant. It makes my eyes water, and trying to do computer work. And my friend leaves complaining that he smells like hashbrowns. This is a regular thing. The whole place is often too crowded and noisy to begin with. I recommend visiting a different coffee shop.
Woke up early one day and decided… Hmm I’d like some brunch! Chose a random place and found gold by accident. Not really a brunch spot, you know no mimosas and what not. But I was pleasantly surprised! This lil coffee shop is now my go to for a breakfast sandwich and coffee! Vibes are Dope. And as you can see from this wonderful sandwich… SO GOOD! - jalapeño bagel with bacon, herbed egg, cheese and I added garlic aloe. I just LOVE how they chopped the bacon… Changer of games... Also, they lady who took my order was super sweet and explained everything to me! 100% recommend. Bring your laptop! Def a spot to get some work done as well.

I used to go to the foundry a lot, my high school wasn’t too far away. They’ve remodeled and the environment is fun and welcoming. The staff were polite and friendly. The breakfast includes a cheese that I was not fond of, however I would read the menu before purchasing. Beware, parking is tight the coffee shop is in a residential area downtown so the only option is street parking.

Such a lovely coffee shop in the neighborhood. I visited Foundry Provisions on a Tuesday morning and it was brimming with students and customers from all walks. The ambience is bright and airy with light streaming in through the windows and lovely art paintings on the wall. Foundry sells Tinker coffee which is a local coffee and ice cream + breakfast bagels and sandwiches. Win win! The patio is dog friendly and the red brick gives such a summer vibe to the space. Good customer service and happening spot!

Years ago when I lived next to The Foundry it was great. The prices were reasonable, bottomless coffee was reasonable, etc. Now it's $3 for a coffee and the tiny "cinnamon roll" thing I got my brother was FIVE DOLLARS. A COLD CROISSANT WITH CINNAMON ON IT. The $7 bacon egg and cheese I got was the tiniest excuse for a sandwich I've had downtown, tasted decent though. They have gone the route of high prices, which hipsters will pay while they rent apartments their entire lives. No longer a fan. I'd suggest Calvin Fletcher's in Fountain Square over this place any day. They've remained humble.
Great coffee, sandwiches, staff and service! This is the perfect spot to grab a coffee to go, or to sit and hang out with a friend -- or even to stay for a few hours get some work done. Really nice environment, awesome patio (dog-friendly) and well maintained grounds. And, if you're going to be around for a few hours (or have trouble stopping after the first cup), you can do a bottomless mug. It's like 2 bucks and they usually have 2 or 3 brews to choose from - and it's seriously unlimited. Definitely the best deal in town in my opinion. This is one of my favorite coffee shops in Indy!
The coffee was GREAT! Had the "Walker" special to eat, grilled panini style grilled cheese with tomato and a cup of Lentil Soup that was delicious. Wasn't sure what to expect, but everything was so delicious. Got the girls a Blueberry Scone Muffin and Hot Chocolates...WOW! Really great and warming treat before the park and library! Will definitely be back. It is packed after school. Definitely a homework hangout for the artistic Herron Students. It was good to see them hanging out, collaborating, and getting their work done. #MomGoals
Stopped in for the first time today. It was a really cute coffee shop with other things like breakfast/lunch items and ice cream. Close to my house, and a great meeting spot. They have local vendors and lovely flowers. They also sell merchandise. I ordered a London Fog and a hot chocolate. The wait wasn't long, and the service was helpful and fast. The only thing is the prices of things were high to me, so this definitely would be a treat place every so often rather than everyday. Looking forward to visiting again.
The food and coffee is pretty tasty here!! I got the savory sandwich, and the things I added to and took out of the sandwich were remembered. Additionally, the sandwich was made differently from what I expected (used sliced hard boiled egg instead of fried egg) but it was delicious! They have a good atmosphere with a nice outdoor patio (with a mini library!) and they're dog friendly. The only thing they can improve is food wait time, but even that wasn't awful. Overall, a great place to eat and relax!
Don’t go here if you have any food allergy. My gluten free sandwich had some cross contamination plus they missed my add on. I had to ask for the soup that came with my sons sandwich. I could tell after eating it that it was present. Not really happy with the customer service either. I dined in with my family… not very happy and not worth the $35 we spent.

We visited on the last day before the shop closed for “hibernation” to support and show love. We were informed that the baristas had barely enough supplies to make the drinks we ordered. Mine was served to me with spoiled macadamia nut milk and his was served completely wrong. I sent a message via Instagram to let the shop know the milk was spoiled (with no response) in hopes that no one else would be served it. I am disappointed and have to say this is the worst $11 I’ve ever spent on coffee.
the food, wonderful! the business, not so much! i have worked for foundry for six months, i was the only black employee and i was not treated fairly my last few months at foundry. the manager was very unprofessional, talked behind my back to other baristas, and very disrespectful. she made the environment of foundry very tense and made everyone not want to work there. if you are poc, i don’t recommend working there!! you will not be treated with respect, nor be treated fairly.
I ordered an iced Americano thinking it would be stronger than an iced coffee. It was really weak so I told the barista so and she said to make one they use one shot of espresso and the rest is water and ice. The end result was coffee flavored water. My friend's tea was probably stronger. I wouldn't complain but the barista didn't offer me a drip coffee instead or anything. So I drank the brownish water stuff and I'm never going there again.
Great service and nice location. Cold brew is good and strong and we enjoyed the toasted bagels and homemade cream cheese. Patio is perfect on a late summer day with a good amount of seats and a few umbrellas (next to very noisy intersection, though… but I don’t mind). Definitely a staple in this neighborhood - also, I appreciate the local art on display/for sale.

I love everything about this gem of a coffee shop... (but it's coffee not so much). The service is great, the design of its rehab and landscaping is a delight, the role it plays in our community's resurgent and now thriving corridor is so appreciated. Adjacent to the former Herron School of Art foundary site, it even gets it's name honestly! Were it to start brewing with better beans and ratios it would be rewarded.
Been coming here for almost a year now before school every day, it’s gotten to a point where most employees know my name automatically. Everyone’s super nice and the atmosphere is great, not to mention the coffee and pastries. It can get pricey, but well worth it in my opinion.

I LOVE THIS SHOP BUT….DO NOT GO BETWEEN 8:00- 9:00AM on weekdays If you want quick service or a coffee in under 15-20 minutes - the shop is overwhelmed with all the Herron High School students drinking coffee/ordering breakfast Sandwiches- I live in the neighborhood and love being able to come here before work - it just isn’t a place that always gets you a coffee in time that you’d hope to get it
Love the simplicity and personal feel from this small, really really cool neighborhood eatery, with a small but decadent menu. Coffee here is small batch from Tinker Street. Delish!!

This place belongs in the top ten. Anyone doing this well with two other coffee shops but a stones throw away must be doing many things right. Industrial remake of both outside and inside is spot on. Community gathering place with warm counter people made everyone feel most welcome Leave your car behind and walk to this place to see neighborhoods in transition.
Service is normally okay- today the cashier was excessively talking to the people in front of us, got stiff and quiet when it was my turn to order, cut me off in the middle of ordering to clarify an earlier order, and then burnt my bagel and put 1/3 the topping they normally do

The coffee was good and the staff was very friendly. I meet a lot of people for work and visit many coffee spots, parking was very limited so I would not recommend for any appointments. I had to circle the location a few times before finding a spot. The restrooms need improvements and better lighting. A cute location but not sure if I’ll return.
Great place. Love the patio outside and the location on 16th st. Offer a mug and unlimited refills on coffee (my favorite option of any shop). Gets really crowded in the morning with high school kids from Herron (not sure what their schedule is. The kids are always in there it seems). So if noisy kids isn't your thing you might be uncomfortable.
We were in town to watch our daughter run the Monumental Marathon. I had coffee, my husband had a mocha and we both had blueberry muffins. Everything was fresh and delicious. The two women who took care of our order were so sweet and efficient. It was cozy to spend a little time inside the Foundry while it rained outside. Highly recommend.
We were staying nearby and thought we'd stop in for breakfast. The "Savory Press" consisted of hard boiled eggs, bacon bits and a slice of cheese on white bread. It's not that it was underwhelming, but actually gross. We paid $20 for two gross sandwiches and two cups of coffee. The coffee was decent, but stay away from the sandwiches.
Review update: Go get an All-Day Breakfast Sandwich. It's SO dang good. (you can get one all-day, as the name implies, but you should go get one now) My favorite coffee shop. They care about their product. Panini sandwiches made with fresh ingredients (& love). Tinker St. locally roasted coffee. Go to there; you will like.
My nearest coffee place. Featuring Tinker coffee. Having lovely toasted sandwiches, and yogurt parfaits. They have a great outdoor patio area oh, that's especially during the pandemic, was very comforting. The staff is incredibly nice and helpful!

$5 for a drip coffee with milk is too much. Also there is no discount for bringing your own cup. There are plenty of coffee shops in downtown that are cheaper and offer more options. I have sat down here for work a few times and while its not bad, its not particularly good either. Not impressed at all.
Good coffee but other than that, way too expensive and overall weird food. I paid $4 for a bagel with cream cheese, $6.50 for a sandwich with white bread, bacon bits and sliced deviled eggs (wasn’t that great). Coffee also didn’t get done until after we had finished our food. Not impressed at all
By far one of the best places to get a bagel in Indianapolis! I personally get a plain bagel with plain cream cheese and it is always a delight, but make sure you eat it there. Cute little coffee shop serving the neighborhood and students of the nearby High School. Also displaying local art! Win Win
Excellent coffee, sandwiches, pastries and vibe. Lovely patio, beautiful setting, great place to get some work done. There is always interesting artwork for sail as well. Also a great place to get some work done. And the staff is friendly. Almost everything is local. Cold brew will give you a zing!

Great little coffee shop. Over run by high school kids in the morning before Herron starts for the day, so sometimes getting an early coffee can be slow. But staff is very good and friendly, coffee is great and usually not too acidic. Patio is a great place to have a conversation.
Long time fan. The menu you wouldn’t imagine would be so thoughtful from a place known for their coffee. Really exceptional all around. Bottled sodas and giant cookies get me every time. Crushed on one of the staff last visit even. They just got good vibes all around in the place.

Delicious and trendy, if a little on the pricey side - the atmosphere and the people watching make up the difference. I like to stand at the bar lining the 16th street windows and work with a bottomless coffee. The pressed sandwiches are a great treat for lunch on a lazy Sunday.
Love coming here to work on my computer or to read a book while enjoying their coffee and presses. Their staff is always really friendly, and so is the people that come here (I have ask multiple people if you can share a table with them, and to this date no one has said no)
I appreciate the lower coffee prices at Foundry compared to Provider, but they lose a star for getting my breakfast sandwich order wrong.

Saturday mornings… usually stop by to grab my bagel and coffee. Female staff seem more occupied by chatting with each other rather than paying attention to customers. Latte order wrong and female rolled her eyes. Male sandwich maker backed up, where’s the team work ???
Cozy. Good and hot coffees. Good food. I don't care about hip, working-class, etc. but, yeah, it's hip I suppose. A little more attention to/interaction with the customers would bump this review to 5 stars. Recommend (with a little constructive criticism). Thanks.
Highly recommend the breakfast sandwich and adding avocado to it, was so good. Didn’t taste like something frozen. The egg was big and flavorful. The mango smoothie was also amazing

I love the Foundry! All the food and drinks are of high quality, the atmosphere is great for working or meeting with a friend, and all baristas are very kind and pride themselves on knowing their customers. I go almost everyday, and I highly recommend it.
Good coffee. Not great, but definitely solid. The only beef I have with this place is I paid $7 or whatever for a sandwich - they forgot the bacon. So it was a $7 egg, cheese and sriracha on sourdough. Not the worst thing that's ever happened to me...
I love the atmosphere and the tip jar character themes!!!! Only complaint is I think it needs more ventilation because when it gets busy it tends to get a little smoky and burn my eyes. Only because they are making delicious pressed sandwiches.
Cute place with great customer service! Tried the chocolate croissant, Thai iced coffee and iced chai. Nice outdoor space, although the road can be noisy at times. Would come again to try more and get a circle city kombucha growler!
This is a nice coffee shop with good seating, both inside and outside. I’ve had a few different coffees and teas as well as the croissant and those were all very good. However, the breakfast sandwich was bad and the prices are high.
Cozy coffee shop. Offers wifi. They have a nice coffee selection. Their barristas we're both friendly and offered good drink selections. They do offer conventional and alternative bottled soft drinks. They were also pet friendly...
Great staff! The patio is beautiful and the property is well tended to. Limited menu, but what is served is excellent. Worth a visit for a great coffee.

Great coffee and an interesting food menu (good for vegetarians last I went). Free wifi and a good space to get some work done. ProTip: Don't be there when the high school rush get there - it's crazy.
This is a great spot for a sandwich or coffee. Nice vegetarian options, but I wish there were presses available for vegans too. Coffee drinks are well made and the environment is friendly.
Art laden cafe with wifi, outdoor seating, friendly / efficient staff and delicious savory press! Recommended for studying, small meet ups, and patent-kid date (they have a stash of toys).
The designs were lovely as what my girlfriend says, brought here to this place and it became her hang out place because the place is cozy and the staff were friendly. highly recommended...
Legos for the kids! Drinks are great. Sandwiches a little small for the price, but the atmosphere, comfy tables and booths, great service, and most importantly the Legos make up for it.

Good coffee options, both brewed and espresso drinks. Deserts are a little overpriced, but that's typical, as they are a moneymaker. Limited food options are also available.
It's a great little cafe that can be a good study/work place. The staff is great and the food is solid. I'd recommend the Kurt V if you're down for a vegetarian sandwich.
My wife and I stopped in here for lunch while in town for a wedding. The Montgomery sandwich and the creamy tomato soup were great, and the atmosphere was terrific!
They allow people to bring their dogs in and my allergies flared up immediately. It's too closed in to be dog friendly. Besides that food and drinks were good.
Good food with variety for breakfast and lunch preferences. Booth, table, and counter seating and a cute little patio. Plus Tinker coffee to top it all off!

Stopped by for a quick breakfast and some coffee before visiting the Indianapolis zoo. Service was great and the food/coffee definitely hit the spot …
I am definitely making this a go to lunch and breakfast stop. I love their outdoor area and both the turkey and the ham sandwiches were seriously perfect.
Espresso was bitter, but drink was ok. Wait time was a little long, but they were busy. Glad kids have a safe place to hang out. Employees were very nice
The sandwich I had was okay but service was slow and seemed confused. They gave my sandwich as well as two other costumers sandwiches to other patrons.
This place has great coffee! If you'll be there a while, you can get a bottomless mug. The people are nice, the coffee is good, and the space is cozy.
The ambiance is very nice. I did find their selection of pastries to be limited. Complimentary refills on regular coffee would be very appreciated.
Love this place! However, I think they need a sign above the toaster, “if it’s black don’t serve it.” - I’ve eaten a fair amount of torched bagels.
Great little spot for a cold or hot drink and quick bite to eat. Just wish the serving size was bigger on the drinks for those that work outside.
This is one of my favorite places in the city. The environment is relaxed and inviting. I LOVE their iced dirty chai. Great place to relax!
They definitely only want one kind of clientele in there, and it's not the locals.

Went on a Sunday morning and it was busy as expected. They are clearly understaffed as it took over 20 mins to get 2 cups of coffee
An excellent place to pick up a quick bite and some coffee on the way to work. The space is nice and I rarely have to wait in line.
A friendly little coffee shop with a good selection, some good grilled breakfast sandwiches, and pretty good lunch selection, too.
Every Sunday I enjoy there espresso and coffee with one of those very tasty donuts. The savory press is an outstanding sandwich.
Love the Americano here! Nice place to sit in the morning and it's on my way to work! Staff is very friendly and super helpful.
