I went for a haircut today, and researched before to make sure they provided services for curly hair. The website and social media prided themselves with their curl specialists and with the reputation that the salon has. I trusted to give it a try. I voiced to the hairdresser my struggle to find a good hairdresser over the years and he spoke as though he was incredibly knowledgeable, walking me through all the steps and explaining his reasoning for the haircut. That talk did not translated to the haircut I got. This takes the cake as the worse haircut I have ever gotten in my life, if I even can call it that. I can't in good mind, wear my hair without a hat to hide this cut. I was given the shortest bangs, that once dried, shrunk to less than 1cm with the sides of my head looking like Krusty the Clown. The hair stylist even mention he cut the bangs a bit short but they'd grow in. If you are going to advertise curly haircuts, make sure that your employees are knowledgeable and understand what they are doing. It is hard enough to navigate the world being proud of having natural curly hair and it is extremely devastating when someone absolutely destroys your hair without any respect or remorse. I will absolutely not be coming back to this place and advise anyone else to stay clear as well. At this point, it is literally impossible to fix this.

I’m so grateful I found Lauren at Fox & Jane Salon during the pandemic. My hairdresser at the time no longer had a colorist at her salon, and her time restrictions/location made it almost impossible to visit, so I started looking online for stylists more local to me. I saw Lauren’s instagram and all the amazing highlights/balayage she had done, and I took a chance… so glad I did! She’s such a knowledgeable, considerate, friendly and talented stylist & colorist. She takes the time to hear what you want, and explains exactly what she has in mind to do. She’s always learning new techniques and takes her craft seriously! I always leave thinking I couldn’t love my new highlighted tone more, until the next time she tweaks it to be even better. She’s always suggesting products and treatments to keep my hair healthy, but never pressures me to purchase in the salon. My hair has never looked better, and after 40 that is not an easy task! The salon is always a nice vibe, the music is always just right, and I never feel rushed. I feel bad for not writing a review earlier, as I’ve been a client for a couple years now, and Lauren deserves all the praise and more! Remember to book ahead, Lauren’s talent has made her a very popular stylist with a full schedule.

My first time at Fox and Jane was amazing. Kyle provided a very thorough consultation prior to the cut to make sure I was aware of everything there was to consider in achieving my hair goals, and how we could attain them. He was able to replicate the reference photo I showed him to cut it in a way that would actually work for my hair, and was able to elevate what I wanted so that my new cut would suit my needs the best. He was incredibly detail oriented, explaining the process of my cut every step of the way, so I was able to learn something new about maintaining my new do and the health of my hair on my own. The salon had an amazing friendly environment, and everyone was incredibly pleasant. This was the best hair cut i've ever received, and the experience overall made what is usually a nerve-wracking experience very enjoyable. I'll be sure to come see Kyle at Fox and Jane for all my hair needs from now on :)

I got my hair cut by Emily S last winter. I love that the salon has online booking, and the appointments are long. I've never had so much time and care taken for a cut, you are never being rushed through the chair to squeeze in as many clients as possible. My hair ended up exactly how I wanted it and still looked good after I washed it at home a few days later. After having a good cut experience I asked about getting colour work done. I've been getting my hair bleached and died purple and pink for nearly 7 years. I found that every time I got it done at my old salon was lazier and lazier until it ended up looking patchy and uneven. It required a lot of work to fix, but Emily made a game plan and worked her magic. Highlights, lowlights, toner, colour. I was so incredibly happy with how it came out and almost 2 months later it still looks incredible. I will be going back for all my hair needs.

At Fox and Jane, I had a great time. I had previously gone in for consultation for a hair colour that I wanted to do, I had consulted with Kyle and he explained to me everything there was to know about hair colour and so this was my second time but first service I had booked with them, which was a haircut with Kyle and he was amazing with his techniques, skills and his suggestions, he answered all my questions and took the time to really understand what I wanted and he gave me exactly what I had in mind, love my new hairstyle. The staff was very friendly. The salon itself was very aesthetic, and clean, the location is also great, and the price is good, and it’s worth what we pay for. I’ll definitely visit again. Once again thank you Kyle and Fox & Jane for a great salon experience.

I’ve always struggled to find stylists who can make my very thick, dense hair workable for me on an everyday basis. Through some googling I found Lauren some time ago and took a leap of faith, and every time I visit I’m more and more impressed with what a great job she does and how nicely my hair always grows out. I used to dread getting my hair done and put off appointments for years at a time because of how unpleasant my experiences often were(and to her credit she didn’t cringe during my first visit when years of bad home cuts meant one side was nearly two inches longer than the other!), and now I happily book every couple of months and feel no trepidation at all, just confidence that she’ll work her magic and send me home feeling confident. I can’t recommend her enough!

Melissa gave me the cut and colour of my dreams! She cut about 4.5 inches from my previous grown-out cut from the summer. She gave me beautiful warm balayage and took my inspiration photos into reality, blending a few different elements of pictures I had pinned. Melissa is always a pleasure to visit, and I am really pleased with my results! The movement and swing of this cut is so much fun. I am so in love with it all! I also felt extremely safe with all the covid safety protocols as well. Clients were checked for their proof of vaccination, screened with a health questionnaire and updated waivers to sign. I cannot recommend this salon enough. Melissa and the other Foxes really take care of their clients and you can see everyone's passion about hair.

Fox and Jane is a wonderful salon in Leslieville. A gem in the neighborhood for sure. The staff are sweet, kind & fun people and I can't even begin to express how patient they are. With a wide variety of talented artists, this is a great place to explore new styles and learn more about caring for your hair. It's a space that does its absolute best to provide a comfortable environment for queer people and while I do think that this is something that could still be improved on a bit, it's nonetheless incredibly wonderful that they make such an effort. Megan is an absolute star. For the first time in my life I am leaving the salon happy! Megan takes the time to listen and understand the style or look you want and executes perfectly! She is so nice and great to chat with, also very understanding of any work commits you may have double booked into your appointment even given you time to take a call if needed. Dylan Vance gave me a wonderful experience during my visit to Fox&Jane! I hadn’t gone to a new salon in years and was nervous about letting someone new cut my hair, but Dylan immediately made me feel comfortable. We discussed the look I was going for and went through all of my options, he took my everyday routine into consideration and how it this cut could transition into my next potential style. He consistently checked in with me throughout the cut and was so helpful in answering all of my styling questions. I left with absolutely beautiful layers and much healthier looking hair! I cannot express how great Fox&Jane was and I especially can't express how amazing the stylist Lauren is! I went here for the first time this January and got a cut and colour with Lauren. She knew exactly what colour I wanted my balayage to be, but most importantly, she cut my hair in a way that works perfectly with how I regularly style it. I'm usually hesitant to cut my hair in case it gets cut too short, but Lauren made sure it was the exact length I wanted. Fox and Jane was fantastic, I cannot recommend it enough! Whenever someone mentions they want to cut their hair, I always tell them to go to Lauren.

My hairstylist Kyle is spectacular! He polite, on time and super professional. He spent a lot of time to explain everything with the most details. He was completely honest with me and communicated all the possible limitations. Since I had virgin curly black hair my concern was to don’t break my curl pattern at all and keep my curls healthy and go as light as possible with my highlights which is exactly what happened. The result was beyond my expectations. I love the amazing work he did with blending. Kyle made me so confident and happy for new year! 100% recommended.

I have been going to this salon for about a year and a half now and getting my hair cut and styled with Andrea and she always does an AMAZING job! She gives me exactly the haircut I want every time and is incredibly kind, friendly, and extremely talented. I absolutely love the gender-free pricing (it is instead based on length/style of cut) and all the work this salon does to be a champion for gender-affirming hair styling not only at this salon but educating others as well. Fernando was my hair stylist and I cannot recommend enough. This place is amazing. After a last minute 2 am decision involving 3 friends and a less than perfect shaved head I booked the next day to have it fixed. Fernando took care of me and made my hair cut look phenomenal. It was the first time in my life I actually loved my haircut. I then went back and he did an amazing dye job (pics to come). My good friend went instantly to get her hair cut with him and hers looks amazing as well. Highly recommend.

It’s my one year anniversary going to this salon. I first went for a last minute cut and colour before a wedding, and I’ve never looked back. Melissa knows exactly what to do to my hair to achieve the results I want. Today I visited F&J for the first time and had an excellent experience. I saw Melissa for a cut and some lightening and I’m so happy with the results! My cut/colour is well blended and natural looking and extreme care was made to ensure my hair was healthy in the process (Ie not over-processed). Melissa checked in on my comfort and kept me informed every step of the way. I definitely recommend this clean, bright salon and Melissa as a hair stylist.

The products smelled terrific and I could definitely see my haircut taking shape as she cut! Emily also walked/talked me through the messy waves she was giving me. Was very happy at the Fox & Jane, Lauren was great, she cut my hair for about 3 years. Client services is not their strong suit. Was passed off to a different stylist who was relatively new because I only did barber cuts and I guess they want the better stylists focused on more expensive styles. I trusted the referral and had the worst haircut ever. Still wearing a ball cap . Very disappointed as I loved my hair cuts from Lauren.

The service was amazing! I recently had an appointment to fix a horrendous haircut from another salon. She listen to what I wanted and was able to explain how she was going to be able to fix my hairstyle. I was concerned about not taking off too much due to recently having a hair cut and she was very aware of my concern. I left feeling so much better about my hair and will become a repeat customer. Kyle is my go-to stylist when I need a clean up and refresh. I'm pretty basic with my hair, but he makes great suggestions for different ways we can change things up that will work with my hair type, which is really appreciated.
