In town for a convention and was looking to have some neck work done before jumping back on an airplane. I found Frais Spa on Google and noticed it has several 5-star reviews. Great! To book an appointment, I was asked to download an app to my phone, create an account with my personal information, and to pay up front as I selected my preferred massage and time. I selected 11am and put $110 on my card. I then checked out of my hotel, and walked 15 minutes to the spa location. As I arrived at 10:45, my phone rang and the spa employee informed my that there had been a "glitch" in the system and that my appointment couldn't be honored. They offered to call me back when they arrived at the office to determine if something would be available later in the afternoon, with the possibility of a 3pm appointment. That wasn't an option for me, as my flight was scheduled for 4pm. This rating isn't reflective of the massage services, but the process of booking and the apps inability to accurately schedule an appointment. The website actively pushed me to use this system, which proved to be very inconvenient, as well as a waste of time. I could have spent the hour at the hotel, but instead was left holding my bags (literally) in downtown LA. I did book same day, so I rated 2-stars, wholly based on the app and booking process. Update: I've been contacted by the spa and confirmed that my credit card will be refunded. I was also offered an apology and special arrangements for an appointment at 12:30pm. I appreciate the reach out and it's nice to see a prompt, polite response. I'll try to give the spa another go when I return to LA and update this review in kind.
Hidden gem in the middle of the hustle and bustle of downtown LA! It is a cozy, very zen, very relaxing place, the staff are friendly and welcoming. The aroma of eucalyptus permeates the air as you enter. There is trickling fountain, flowers and very comfortable sitting area. It sets the pace for your experience. I have had spa treatments at a number of luxury hotels over the years. This spa has the same level of service and quality as more expensive hotels. The difference is that there is a humble nature to this spa, which I quite enjoyed. It is not decorated or filled with expensive spa or other products. I felt no pressure to purchase products. There is an elegant minimalist decor which is very refreshing. You go to a spa to decompress and get pampered for a few hours or even a day. The focus of the spa is relaxation and well being - the art, trickling fountains and other elements communicate it quite well. I was very pleased with my massage. She asked the appropriate questions before I began, and commented that I was her "remote control". You will begin your journey with three deep cleansing breaths - to a wonderful sage scent which places you in the relaxation zone. Afterwards, you receive excellent care - the tension or stress melting away with each touch. She was professional, kind and very informed about her craft. After my hot stone massage, I left floating on air! Mission accomplished. Part of my package was an Aromatherapy Hot Steam treatment. However the the steam room was undergoing some small repairs, so I will be able to go back and receive this treatment soon. I look forward to my next visit!
This business was not in the database with the Better Business Bureau, but I just submitted information about this business and filed a complaint against them for $534 in charges for services not rendered. This information may be publicly availably anyway, so I am also posting here. I went in for a massage treatment one time. The massage experience was good, the specialist did good work and gave good advice. The specialists they employ are all very good at what they do, they are reputable professionals. It's the business practice that's puzzling. They seem glad to take money but are not responsive for customer service resolution. I don't recall ever signing up for a massage membership and they don't seem to have records themselves. It took a little while, but I caught records of recurring charges from Frais Spa on my bank statement one day, temporarily froze my account, and filed a claim. The company has sent me vague text messages saying they'll look into it, they're busy, there's a bridal shower, please call back, etc.
My wife suprised me for my birthday with a couple massage and a facial, which tbh was very good, the problem started at the billing, we tiped her 20 bucks, the day after we check the bank statements and understanding that she charged us 70 bucks for tip. We called her and she claimed that she asumed that this is the tip they deserve, and that she absolutely not gona give us back the other 50 she literally stoled from us with out permission It is sad that a place that try to seperate itself from any other low class massage parlor acts the exact same way You need to be careful what kind of ppl gets your card information. Obviously we gona despute this charge but those ppl client service is absolutely disgraceful I highly recommend any other spa place for your spa day
It was a rainy day in downtown Los Angeles so I decided on my last day of vacation to get a massage. Frais happened to be directly next door to my hotel. I walked in to see if I could schedule a 'day of' massage and the owners were super sweet and accommodating. The spa and steam room were clean, cute and relaxing. They had all sorts of products at your disposal! I had a 1 hour massage with Shea. She was incredible. I like my massages with very firm pressure and she was able to help release a lot of my trigger points. I think she even went over my 60 minutes! What a wonderful find and relaxing day in the city.
We had an Express Facial my BF and I. The esthetician called Jennifer is amazing: she takes time to discuss and provide customized beauty advice. We were really pleased with the cleanliness, professional skills and chic ambiance of this spa. As French ladies, our expectations are high because we are used to French beauty spas, but now that I experienced this location, I will do my monthly facials here. They also offer massage services and wellness medical therapies, I will recommend them to my friends and even will try myself: they have a complete and professional team, and it sounds like a sign of quality.
I previously given a 4 star review but I’m so disgusted by my return visit. There was no one to check in and I wandered into to spa and found my own locker. Then after I was waiting for massage My therapist Jennifer informed me she would be 30late! There is no sauna or steam services like promised. After tipping, I found a mysterious $25 charge on my cc almost 15 days after my service. I called and complained and was told that was the tip she felt she deserved. That’s fraud!!! IT WAS A BAD MASSAGE AND THEY WILL STEAL FROM YOU!
I just went on a mini.vacation at Frais. As soon as you walk in, Frais' decor is impressive. I was offered a glass of champagne. I can't help looking around and admire its decor. I got a one hour massage. The massage was perfect. Just the right amount of pressure. I was also impressed with her massage skill. I have been to numerous massage establishments. Frais is definitely up there. I felt so relaxed afterwards. Frais spa is also very clean. It smells like a new house. I will be back soon
PLEASE consider going to literally any other day spa. I bought a package on Groupon for $120 and not only did they not answer their phone the past week I’ve been trying to contact them for an appointment but I’ve had to communicate with them over text from a random number that reached out? On top of it all I started running a fever this morning and tried to reschedule my appointment I made not even 20 hours ago and they said no as well as being extremely rude. Awful awful awful
My wife and I booked a massage together but not a couples massage. They gave us a rose petal, lemon, and sea salt foot soak and some nice tea to drink to start off. Then they put us in the couples suite which was a nice bonus. This place is nice, clean, and the staff is friendly. The massage was excellent. The masseuse focused on the areas I told her to and avoided the areas I told her to avoid. My wife and I left feeling very relaxed. I would definitely go back.
Amazing place, came across this place on google and my sissy and I treated ourselves to a early mothers day gift ,absolutely loved it here, our masseuse knew exactly what she was doing, so relaxing and worth every penny, everything was immaculate , decor was really nice, they have a nice theater with free movies, Jacuzzi, cool dip pool, sauna, cedar room, tubs ,showers and a quiet room , we are planning on coming once a month to pamper ourselves
They wanted to charge $16 for parking on site - what a joke! Especially given the inconvenience of this being right in the middle of the city. Some of the facilities were out of order. I was warned by the receptionist the sauna wasn't working the day of my visit so that was fine but when I turned up I found black mold in the toilet and the shower head wasn't working. Massage was okay, nothing to write home about. Would not come here again.
I’ve booked a 60 mins massage on the 7th of May 2pm with Helga, paid and confirmed the appointment straight away using MindBody app. I have arrived 10 mins early to a locked door and no staff members around. I’ve called and no one answered, I also talked to employees at the reception and no one so the spa staff members today. I have a flight soon so I want be able to rebook. I want a full refund and apologies for the inconvenience
The staff paid attention to our every need. My husband, son and I came into the spa last week, for our 2nd visit. Ruth, one of the massage therapists, worked out some of the knots in my back. Dr. Fernandez adjusted my back and neck. Karen, one of the owners, made sure I was hydrated and taken care of before and after my massage and chiropractic work. I absolutely love this place and will come back again and again.
Booked my appointment online through the app. Couldn’t get ahold of anyone on the phone to answer questions. Hours to reply to text. Day of the appt they tell me someone called out and they can’t provide the couples massage we paid for. Fine, I politely request a refund. They completely cease to reply. Now having to go through credit card company. Avoid this clearly incompetent and dishonest establishment.
I highly recommend Frais Spa. I think it's the best massage spa in downtown Los Angeles! It was quiet simple for booking, I got a text message after I left a voicemail and it was just simple and quick. And Jennifer is the best massage therapist i ever met. I'll definitely be regular. I normally park at Ralph's(90 mins free parking with receipt) to go to Frais Spa and get a drink after the massage. :)
From the moment my fiance and I walked through the doors of Frais Spa, we knew were in for something special. We chose the Romantic Getaway Couple's Massage and were not disappointed. Eva made sure we comfortable through every step. From the foot soak, the massage, and champagne afterwards, it was a relaxing way to start off our LA vacation. I highly recommend Frais Spa. Check it out!
My grandmother has bad back pain and I wanted to treat her for her birthday. She got a 60 min massage and sauna from Yakira and My grandmother CRIED! So glad she liked it alot. Will try to make an appointment once a month for Yakira. She said Yakira did everything perfectly and she is no longer in pain! Ill be definately having my grandma back there! Gorgeous place. AMAZING service.
What an unpleasant experience. I arrived early as requested to fill out paperwork and the lobby is closed. After contacting the business, an employee arrives to assist me without wearing a mask. While waiting, the employee is on the phone booking an appointment. I asked about the complimentary beverage and am told it will be better after the massage. The business is also not clean.
Impossible to book. We have been trying to schedule a couples massage for the past month with a Groupon and they constantly reply only through text message saying they have no availability. And their website's booking option never loads. Seems like they are just cashing in on the Groupon deals and never allowing us to actually redeem.
An oasis in the city. If you are looking for a beautiful yet serene place to unwind, look no further then Frais Spa. The owners and staff are friendly and the massage therapists are top notch professional. Strategically placed in downtown LA so you can feel recharged for the rest of your day or evening.
Excellent serene spa tucked away in the back of the hotel. I received first class treatment the minute I walked into the lobby. The owners and staff are so attentive and catered to all my needs. Julie, my massage therapist, was absolutely amazing!! Just what I needed after a stressful day!!
Frais Spa was an amazing, relaxing experience! Overall, the spa is calm and clean. I received a deep tissue massage from Jackie and she was AMAZING! I will definitely be returning and I would highly recommend. The sauna afterwards was the icing on the cake after a great massage :)
I love this place. Came here for my 21st birthday with out an appointment and they still accommodated my friends and I. Not only was the customer service amazing but the service it self was to die for. If I didn’t love out of town I’d be here once a week. Highly recommend
This was to be a wonderful experience for myself and my husband. We were overly joyed with the amazing staff and thei knowledge of what we needed. The ambiance is so cozy and yet practical. The couples massage was very romantic! Thank you all for such amazing service!!
I almost don’t want to write this review because I don’t want this place to blow up and then be impossible to get in to. Jennifer is the best massage therapist I’ve ever been to. So thorough. I’ve been to her 3x and will continue as often as I possibly can!
The reason I'm giving a 4 is bc my groupon included Aromatherapy and sauna but I got neither. I didn't remember to ask and no one mentioned it. Other than that Jennifer was amazing. My skin is glowing and soft and all my knots were kneaded away!!!
This is a real hidden gem in DTLA. From a champagne start to one of the best massages I have had in years (thank you Janett)! I highly recommend Frais Spa if you need a pick me up after a hard day at work. Try out the sauna, it’s amazing!
Amazing Spa! Firstly, the acupuncture here is some of the best treatment I've ever had for my cervical disc issues. Secondly, the spa interior is truly impressive and relaxing. Prepare for some very tasteful luxury.
Frais spa is great! So convenient for anyone who lives downtown! A nice environment, very private, and very relaxing. All their therapists are masterful professionals, but in particular I recommend Valerie!
Wow great service more then I expected, great ambiance very relex and cozy all the staffs were very friendly and comptable highly recommended will come back for sure need to make a reservation ahead
I get a detox back facial at Frais every month. I don’t see my back but my partner does everyday. Gives me great results and confidence that I’m taking care of every square inch.
Dont do it. I bought a spa package and havent been able to contact them since. They completely ignore the phones. The customer service isnt just bad its non-existent.
Great, relaxing experience so far. Warm and welcoming environment. Spa was very flexible with last minute rescheduling for my fiend and I. Would recommend!
Me and my best friend enjoyed our time at the spa, he was sleep the entire time. This was my first facial and I really enjoyed it, thank you!
Jennifer was incredible her fingers are so so strong! I will absolutely be adding this to my wellness routine!! Must try when in LA
We had a lovely couples massage and Rosa foot soak. The staff was accommodating and friendly. We will definitely be back!
Jennifer was absolutely amazing!! One of the best massages I’ve had in my life. Great spa overall and easy to book.
Amazing customer service, coming from out of town and they really worked with our schedules. Highly recommend
