Second time I've been here, and both time the service was excellent and the staff hugely knowledgeable. (I now know more about the difference between a sash lock, mortice lock and deadbolt than any civilian should, right down to recent changes in legislation and its impact upon British Standard - and this from the apprentice of one month!.) First time was to pick up a new 32mm cylinder for an old, old night latch to the cellar door whose keys were long since lost. This was more for convenience than security, as the door kept drifting open. The second time was rather more serious, as we'd had a break in and they took my wife's handbag with a set of keys inside, so I needed a new sash lock pronto. They could not have been more helpful. Explained that while re-keying may have been marginally cheaper, it was a false economy, and sold me a modern five lever equivalent of the old Era lock I had. Oh, wow, you say, they sold you a lock? They were kind enough to accept a cheque with what photo ID I had left after the burglar stole all my cards and driver's licence because they understood I was between a rock and a hard place. Plus super bantz (as the younger generation says) while having some duplicates cut. Highly recommended, and huge thanks!

I don't write many reviews but thought these lovely chaps were definitely worth one. I had to replace an old multipoint lock on our backdoor and it was proving absolutely impossible to remove it in order to find out which model to replace it with. I called up and spoke to Julian on the phone who told me it would save me a lot of money if I was able to remove it myself and bring it down to the shop so that they could order in a replacement. He then spent about 20 minutes talking me exactly through how to do it and even giving me a test afterwards to make sure I was paying attention! When that failed he asked me to come down to the shop in order for him to teach me how to remove it in person which actually worked in the end. They repaired the lock and then taught me how to reinstall it myself so that I could again save on labour costs. I've never had anyone go so out of their way in order to save me money on something that would be an easy few hundred for them. They're top blokes, honest and completely trustworthy. GK Locksmith are fab! After a horrid burglary a couple of months ago I decided it was time to step up our security. My chub lock was very worn and the keys were sticking and so I rang GK for some advice. It was 5pm and I knew they were shutting soon - but instead of saying "come back tomorrow" they said "why not pop along now and bring the lock with you and we'll have a look". (They also very kindly talked me through taking out the lock). They sorted the lock out for me, which turned out to be trickier than expected, and then they stayed late to make sure it worked well and then the guys both stayed even longer and cut extra keys for me! The burglar came back exactly 8 weeks later - just as the insurance company had paid out. But the lock held and he didn't get in despite his very best efforts with a crow bar!!! Any way - a massive thank you to GK Locks. We are very lucky to have such lovely, professional and kind people in N16! I am very grateful.

Having previously been very happy with their service and reasonable costs, I called these guys when, during lockdown and social distancing, our elderly neighbour couldn't get into her flat and her housing association emergency locksmith service failed to turn up even after 4.5 hours. Julian came quickly, ready to help. Unfortunately between my call and his arrival, the lady had gotten very unwell and needed an ambulance, but he managed to open the door and helped get her inside while waiting for the paramedics to arrive - and even offered not to charge for coming out, without any prompt. A fantastic local service at the best of times, and real empathy and humanity in a difficult situation.

Honest, efficient and very pleasant to deal with. We have lived in Stoke Newington for over 15 years and would not consider using another locksmith. Some time ago we called in for advice about the quality of our old locks and were given reassurance that they are the best so no need to change, no attempts to get us to spend money when it was not necessary. When finally age got the better of the locks, I dropped in to the shop and Craig was able to come and fit new locks on the same day. Excellent service, cheerful and he left the hallway spotless. Based on many years of getting keys cut etc, and todays experience of getting the locks changed, I recommend them highly.

As new home owners we went to GK Locksmiths to seek advice on changing the locks. Based on our photos of the existing locks we were able to talk through the various options in the shop and all pros and cons were explained to us. Once we settled on the best solution for us we promptly received a quote later that day. On the day of the appointment the new locks’ functionalities were again fully explained and demonstrated to us. We had one slightly tricky lock which required a small change of plan, but again, everything was very thoroughly explained and helped us decide. We were very happy with the service provided and would recommend GK Locksmiths to anyone else.

Our home is, unfortunately, being affected by subsidence. As a result two pairs of double glazed timber French doors are out of line and not locking properly. They both have complex but different locking systems. I popped into G K Locksmiths on Tuesday afternoon and Craig arranged to visit on Thursday morning. Craig was a pleasure to have in our home. He was able to solve the problems with the locks very quickly...even in torrential rain...how unlucky was that. He did a fantastic job and our home is now secure again. I got in touch with Julien to get a quote for a lock replacement job after having a feeling I was been ripped off by another locksmith. In spite of me just asking for a quote, Julien was very patient and understanding of my situation. As a board member to the MLA, he was able to advise me in terms of next steps on how to remedy my situation (of been ripped off on a locksmith job). He provided me a fair quote on email, which I could then use to dispute my invoice from the rogue locksmith. I have recently had a set of four keys copied. One of the copy's persistently refused to fit it's lock. All the others worked fine first time. After three more attempts to fashion the key, Rob, one of the team at the Locksmiths, arranged to come to my home, and in half an hour, hand honed and filed the stubborn key until it did it's job. No extra costs or charges. Just pride in a job well done. That is service beyond all expectations. To all of the pleasant and proffessional team, on and off site, thank you very much.

Fantastic locksmiths, would definitely recommend. They might have a more expensive call out charge than other firms, but you get what you pay for. The first locksmith we had from another firm quoted £800-900 for our issue. Rob from GK had a look at some pictures and near enough identified the issue over the phone. Less than £200 in total for him to come and sort it. We have also been in the shop before for key cutting and dog tags and the service was great. Very efficient and professional. Thanks Rob and GK

Everything you want from a local locksmith. Having been broken into, I needed a locksmith to add some security and replace some locks. GK were excellent. Sympathetic, very responsive, helpful, reasonably priced, quick in their work, tidy and totally professional. I was recommended them by a neighbour and would recommend them myself to anyone asking. I also found out that the guy who set it up is local and is still the owner operator, so I'm pleased that my money goes back into the local community.

Excellent local locksmiths.They carry a much wider selection of keys including safe keys and other specialist locks. They are usually pretty busy because they are so good, but when they get to you, they are give you their full attention. If ever a key doesn’t work you can come back with no hassle to finesses it. Luke and the rest of the team here are all helpful, efficient and polite. In an emergency their call out fee is lower than most and they are speedy. Consummate professionals all.

Extremely impressed with Craig and G K Locksmiths! I had a uPVC door that jammed on me and had no idea how to get it out. G K Locksmiths sent someone to figure out what was going wrong, unjammed the door, they ordered the new lock mechanism for the door, and Craig came round and fit it for me. Extremely impressed with them all - they really know their trade. They even noticed a few things that could be fixed easily while they were there. Cannot recommend enough!

We are very happy with the works completed. We were unable to open or close our entrance door without slamming it/ pushing it hard, GK Locksmiths sent us 2 friendly professionals who looked at the issue and corrected it. The work was done nicely and thoroughly, they also changed the locks on our windows. On top of being efficient, they are responsive and quick. We will definitely use their services again in future if the need arises and highly recommend them.

Can't recommend these guys enough. I had a key cut at a different establishment which just was not working despite all the efforts of the key cutter. I took the key and very worn lock into GK Locksmiths and they spent a good 30 mins playing around with the lock itself - dismantling it, cleaning & lubricating, trying different blanks out until they eventually figured it out. Saved me having to spend £50 on a new lock. Unbelievable customer service.

We have had our keys cut here for many years and today needed to get our locks changed. They open early so I was able to talk to someone right away and discuss what locks i have and what my replacement options are. Jon at the shop and Craig the locksmith that came were so helpful, friendly and professional. The area around the door was even tidier after the work was done. Cannot rate highly enough! Lost key for locked security gate totally messed up by cowboy locksmith who spent 2 hours banging, clanging and drilling with no result. Don't hesitate to use this business. Very nice, friendly, efficient. Great value. I think the most important thing about a business is how they correct mistakes. They didn't even really make a mistake but I bought a lock that wasn't quite right for my door and they offered to come and sort it out for free. This is the sort of local high street business it's so important to support. They are a lifeline.

Vey happy with the service - can not fault. Craig fitted 2 locks on the front door quickly with a focus on making it look as smart and tidy as possible - matching existing fittings etc. He tidied up all afterwards. He then was also happy to help with another multi lock PVC door which wasn't part of the original request. He was very friendly and the price was very reasonable/as quoted too.

These locksmiths are amazing. I went in to purchase a replacement lock because the original had half a key broken off and firmly jammed right inside it. Long established local independent business on Church St N16. They replaced locks for us after we moved, but I’ve also had advice from them before where they told me how to fix a lock myself rather than incur a call out fee for a simple job, which was really decent of them. They know their stuff and do their job well. Highly recommended.

We've used G K Locksmiths twice for a variety of things (fixing internal door latches, fixing our front door latch, replacing our locks) and have found them to be brilliant, quick, friendly, and experienced. They recently came out to change our locks on an hour's notice and did a brilliant job.

My Balham key snapped in my lock and no one could help. I managed to dismantle my cylinder and run it up to them and the managed to get it out the same day. Great service for a Great price. The bloke behind the counter (Rob) spoke me through everythjng and contacted me when it was all sorted.

What a great locksmith. I needed to get an Ingersol lock changed to match the key of another lock. I expected to have to buy a new cylinder a wait a week. They changed the keying of the old cylinder in less than half an hour and only charged £25 (I'd got quotes > £100 from other locksmiths).

I called CK Locksmith's to ask for technical advice on security for a glass door to our office, it was quite complex and didn't know what options I had. I spoke with Rob, he was SO helpful! Gave great advice, and extremely patient and without hesitation would highly recommend this company.

Had an emergency need for a lock part which unfortunately they didn’t have in stock, but the gentleman helped me out with great advice. Seems rare to get such good service these days but it is much appreciated. Wouldn’t hesitate to use again.

Great Service! I had a faulty front door lock that needed replacing. Rather than charging me an arm an a leg for a call out they sold me the spare parts and talked me through how to change the lock.
